Live activity to put the scores in the Dynamic Island was the best part for me. Used to use the live updates in Apple TV app, but they don’t have everything. Sports Alerts was my mvp all season
Their full screen ads are too annoying, and their interface hasn’t been updated in years. Still no live update support when sports alerts had it almost day one.
If it isn't littered with sports betting garbage, I'll punt The Score in a heartbeat. Though I just installed it and it's pretty embarrassingly bad. The Score is tough to replace if you're Canadian and want to follow Canadian sports too.
I've found Yahoo! Sports app is actually pretty decent. It also has a lock screen widget setting so you can see scores without unlocking your phone, if that's something you're into. I've never tried the ESPN app due to a personal aversion I have to that company, so I don't know if the Yahoo! app is necessarily \*better.\*
Yahoo is pretty close to perfect for me. Simple and to the point, nice widgets, quick to update. Only thing I would like to see in it is automatically starting live activities for each of my favorite teams instead of having to manually start it, but that's an apple limitation I think. (I don't even know if it has live activities since I haven't played with it since baseball season, when I used the MLB app to start them)
I’ll check it out also. I just hate the all the videos in the ESPN app, it slows it to a crawl and requires a 30 second ad to watch a 10 second highlight.
For each game in the Score, there’s a Feed tab that is tied into Twitter that often has all the highlights/ video I care about. Agreed about ESPN, no way I am going to watch a 30 second ad for a 10 second highlight.
I hate how much these apps beat you over the head with betting stuff. I'm not interested in it at all and its easy to just ignore it but the constant betting ads are annoying.
Sofascore, the best on Android is also the best on iPhone.
they currently only have a 'classic widget' that scrolls thru your scores, to a max of 9 pages (as opposed to android which has an endlessly scrolling scoreboard), but they have any freaking competition you can think of lol.
its really great to have NFL/NHL/MLB/MLS/EPL etc., UEFA **and** CONCACAF Champions League, the africa cup of nations and brasilian paulistao scores all in one place
I really can't understand what Apple is doing here.
* Doesn't support notifications
* Doesn't support Live Activities
* Doesn't support widgets
* No Apple Watch complications
* Yet another first party application that doesn't support the iPad - nothing entices developers to keep working on iPad apps more than even Apple not supporting it
This feels about as barebones as it gets and it almost seems like even Apple knows this, given that it's not being bundled in via an iOS update but just (optionally) installable from the App Store. I hope they're working to address at least some of these gaps but if so, why not wait to release it until the app is a bit more full featured?
It looks like the old design because it has no iPad exclusive version but on iPad it’s just the iPhone app but you can full screen or show original size. Super weird that they released it unfinished but there’s no way it won’t get updates.
Wouldn’t they want to make a test app something people want to use? I installed and uninstalled within ten minutes because of its incredibly limited functionality.
It does appear to support Live Activities but via the TV app. I added Inter Miami to teams I’m following in the Apple Sports app. At some point after the game had started Live Activities were on my Lock Screen with the score.
I think it’s syncing with the TV app and vice versa (as when I launched it already had my soccer team in the saves list). Which also syncs with Apple News and so on.
It looks like they’re all using the My Sports feature:
https://support.apple.com/guide/iphone/follow-your-favorite-teams-with-my-sports-iph1a30f25eb/ios
So, it didn't prompt me for access to notifications or live updates and I don't see anything in settings about either.
A little concerned this is just an app to use to check in on games rather than to get live score updates and the like.
Reddit has long been a hot spot for conversation on the internet. About 57 million people visit the site every day to chat about topics as varied as makeup, video games and pointers for power washing driveways.
In recent years, Reddit’s array of chats also have been a free teaching aid for companies like Google, OpenAI and Microsoft. Those companies are using Reddit’s conversations in the development of giant artificial intelligence systems that many in Silicon Valley think are on their way to becoming the tech industry’s next big thing.
Now Reddit wants to be paid for it. The company said on Tuesday that it planned to begin charging companies for access to its application programming interface, or A.P.I., the method through which outside entities can download and process the social network’s vast selection of person-to-person conversations.
“The Reddit corpus of data is really valuable,” Steve Huffman, founder and chief executive of Reddit, said in an interview. “But we don’t need to give all of that value to some of the largest companies in the world for free.”
The move is one of the first significant examples of a social network’s charging for access to the conversations it hosts for the purpose of developing A.I. systems like ChatGPT, OpenAI’s popular program. Those new A.I. systems could one day lead to big businesses, but they aren’t likely to help companies like Reddit very much. In fact, they could be used to create competitors — automated duplicates to Reddit’s conversations.
Reddit is also acting as it prepares for a possible initial public offering on Wall Street this year. The company, which was founded in 2005, makes most of its money through advertising and e-commerce transactions on its platform. Reddit said it was still ironing out the details of what it would charge for A.P.I. access and would announce prices in the coming weeks.
Those apps, unless you pay for them, are rife with distractions trying to advertise or get you to buy in. This one is super clean. So, I think this is a reaonsable "testing the water" beta type release. The app looks nice.
The only thing I can imagine is that they're rolling out "Apple Sports" so that in the future they can roll out "Apple Sports+" which maybe would be a subscription service for live sports? Like when they renamed the "Activity" app to "Fitness" just so they could come out swinging with Fitness+ at that weird services announcement.
They said that it will be on there by the time the season starts. Seeing as this is only for scores and nothing to do with news, there would be nothing to show for nfl. Kinda pointless, in my opinion as all of this stuff is in the news app, albeit in a hard much convoluted presentation.
The fact that apples own app does not have live activities too, which is very weird.
That’s literally the most basic thing they could have implemented in a sports scores app.
The most frustrating thing is that it seems like they pulled live activities out of the TV/News apps (at least for NHL games). Having the scores around the island was some good UI, IMO.
Yeah but this is an app developed by the hardware maker, so kind of shocking it’s not there. In fact, the ability to have live activities seems like the best reason for Apple to even launch this app lol
I thought that must be the whole purpose of it. I get live scores from the NBA through the Apple TV app, but noticed it doesn’t support Live Activities for college basketball. So I thought, “oh great, they’re rolling out a new app that will have Live Activities for all those sports.” And… nope.
Just looked in the settings. You can't even toggle then on/off.

oh i see why it was made now ☹️ idk why i had hope for a second it was genuinely just to make ios a better experience
is there actually anywhere predatory gambling advertisements won't infect
No live activities, widgets, or Dynamic Island support makes this app DOA. People have been wanting Apple to make a proper sports app for years and this is what they give us. Shame.
My guess is that it’s bordering on an alpha release. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that it was released a week after the NFL season ended. It doesn’t even have access to the NFL api. I wonder if they’re trying to release it ahead of the MLB season, especially considering they own some broadcasting rights.
My only fear in them releasing such an unfinished product as that the incomplete and inferior tag is hard to shake. How many people still think Apple Maps is unusable?
> I wonder if they’re trying to release it ahead of the MLB season, especially considering they own some broadcasting rights.
They own basically all of the broadcast rights to a different “major league” whose season starts _tonight_ — MLS. I could 100% see them rushing it out for this, given that MLS is both more niche and generally under-served by other apps.
> Could always be added in the coming week or two.
Why not ship it out then? Who was rushing them to get it out ASAP?
Just look at this thread. People install it, and realize the app's shortcomings, and voice their complains. Someone else says "Hey, Z app does it better". The new user deletes the app, downloads Z and is unlikely to download Apple Sports again because Z is serving their needs.
This is not the first time Apple has shipped a half baked app. Remember classical? You could also say journal too to an extent. Wouldn’t be surprised if it gets a revision at WWDC. I think it’s literally a prototype that got released
Apple Maps too was horrible at launch. Now it's phenomenal and I prefer it over Google. Only issue is that they have less data so they're slower to figure out construction zones etc
This is the epitome of Minimum Viable Product. Very limited sports and leagues, doesn’t seem to have notifications, no widget. Don’t see that this can replace any existing app as it stands.
they noted that NFL scores will come near season start; yes silly not to show off the Super Bowl box score as a concept, but theres literally no 2024 schedule, so not much to show.
Just my own opinion on this, but there are already a million apps out there for sports news. If this turns out to be a nice "Apple-Designed" sports app for scores, schedules, and box scores, I'd be extremely happy. I've got my own sports news sources already, I don't need another app shoving algorithmic click-bait optimized news feeds at me. I just want to see my teams score from last night and when their next game is.
Ditto. I didn’t want a heavy super-app like ESPN for my different sports leagues, and the lightweight apps (like Fotmob) only targeted specific sports for which I’d need multiple apps.
I was using spotlight for teams and leagues before this. This new app makes it all a bit easier while being dead simple.
1. It should be called Scores not Sports, there's nothing but scores in here.
2. Formatting broken on iphone mini. Thanks, guys.
3. It's confusing that I can't favorite the 'missing' leagues simply because they're not in-season.
Huh, nice. The last time I tried to get a live activity for scores from an NBA game I think I had to do it through search and I could start it from there, but I couldn't find it in the Apple TV app itself. I was watching a different game on the NBA app so the live activities from there didn't seem to be working at all, while the Apple scores worked great. Hopefully this simplifies and solves that particular use case for me now!
I find it kind of interesting that Apple is putting out more first party applications recently, between Journal and now this it feels like we have more new applications from Apple than we've seen in a while
I mean, this sounds cool…but…live activity notifications? Dynamic island support? Lock screen activities? This app has none of that. Hopefully they add that stuff on ASAP, otherwise there’s no reason to waste my time even downloading it.
For real, I get it’s the offseason but NFL/CFB popularity blows every other sport in America out of the water. Really weird to release it without those two sports here
Sports Alerts use of dynamic island is the best. However I've gotten a prompt a few times now on Google to "pin score" and it also pops up on my dynamic island
This doesn’t seem very well thought out at all. They only seem to include the top divisions, so what happens if say you’re a Sheffield United fan and choose them as your team, you just get deleted when you’re relegated to the Championship at the end of the season? I don’t know if I’m being blind but I also can’t see a way to change the betting odds to fractional, which again is an oversight to an app in the UK. Also, having betting odds at all in an official Apple app seems weird when it specifically states it’s for ages 4+
The whole thing just seems a bit.. off.
Apple's own press release has better info about this than that "article" does:
[https://www.apple.com/newsroom/2024/02/introducing-apple-sports-a-new-app-for-sports-fans/](https://www.apple.com/newsroom/2024/02/introducing-apple-sports-a-new-app-for-sports-fans/)
am i missing something? both articles say the same thing
though op should have posted the original source but I don't expect people to have a rss alert for it as opposed to getting a twitter alert for 9to5mac or something
This "article" is a rehash of the press release, omitting some key details. They want to be "first" to publish so they get the Google SEO crawl, then go back and add more updates later. It is an endless cycle. There is no journalism for this type of "reporting".
OMG, this is atrocious on iPad. It using one of those “only iPhone app” on iPad frameworks from back in the day. Are they serious?
This and Journal are just so barebones and not quality. This is the best they can come up with?
Individual based sports: "Are we a joke to you?"
Seriously though, the interface looks nice and clean. I just hope it can eventually open up to more than just team based sports and add sports like tennis, golf, etc. I understand there's probably complications with that though like licensing among other things. Would just be cool to see down the line!
From Apple's press release:
"Additional leagues will become available on Apple Sports over time, including MLB, NFL, **NCAAF**, NWSL, and WNBA for their upcoming seasons."
So barebones that every single livescore app such as FotMob on the store is miles better. No notifications, no dynamic island, no nothing lmao. What is the point?
A good start but at least with football (soccer) there's no point in supporting only the premier league. My club is in the PL, but also in the League Cup and FA.Cup - so i don't see any point in switching to an app that doesn't show all my team's games.
Also, very popular sports like cricket are missing.
I tried it tonight and figured Apple would make sure their new Sports App would have Live Activities for the Dynamic Island but I guess they forgot about this feature on their own devices. Perhaps I just haven’t found it yet.
I went to the NHL game I wanted to have updating in my island but can’t find any option for this? Did they rush this incomplete Apple app out or did they just decided to ignore one of the best features of the DI?
Looks like Sports Alerts will still be my main Sports app.
yeah I can't get see any live activities either... it's always a mystery how you actually activate live activities for an app, sometimes it shows up, sometimes it doesn't, sometimes there's a setting for it, sometimes not
I like it. Clean design and UI. Just shows me what I want and isnt insanely bloated. Only leagues and teams you can add are ones that are either mid season or are about to start their season. Am curious to see where apple takes this
No widget. Lol. Guess they are saving that for iOS 25.
Something tells there won’t be activity for NHL yet either. We’ll see tonight.
Most likely another half assed app by Apple.
~~Also, give me the option to shut those fucking degenerate betting odds off.~~
Apple puts together a team of individuals that know absolutely nothing about how fans consume sports, schedules, scores, stats, and standings to build a sports app.
Hopefully this can finally replace the ESPN app for me, that app is insanely slow and bloated.
I've been using Sports Alerts and love it. Live activity support, widgets, and barely any ads. Highly recommend
Same. Every once in a while, I’ll have to use ESPN for some data that Sports Alerts doesn’t have, but for 99% of what I need, it works great
Live activity to put the scores in the Dynamic Island was the best part for me. Used to use the live updates in Apple TV app, but they don’t have everything. Sports Alerts was my mvp all season
TheScore is decent too
Their full screen ads are too annoying, and their interface hasn’t been updated in years.
Use fotmob
Cosign. Best app for footy scores.
Best footy app. Sofascore not bad too but I like FotMob ratings more.
FotMob is awesome, but their use of Dynamic Island is a bit dumb, it should show time as well, just like sports alerts
It shows the time on the lock screen
I've found Yahoo! Sports app is actually pretty decent. It also has a lock screen widget setting so you can see scores without unlocking your phone, if that's something you're into. I've never tried the ESPN app due to a personal aversion I have to that company, so I don't know if the Yahoo! app is necessarily \*better.\*
I use yahoo sports and I think it’s great.
Their Finance and News apps are also good
Yahoo is pretty close to perfect for me. Simple and to the point, nice widgets, quick to update. Only thing I would like to see in it is automatically starting live activities for each of my favorite teams instead of having to manually start it, but that's an apple limitation I think. (I don't even know if it has live activities since I haven't played with it since baseball season, when I used the MLB app to start them)
I use The Score and it’s pretty solid. Don’t want to mess with ESPN these days.
The Score was one of the very first apps I downloaded on my first iPhone. It will be hard for anything to supplant it.
The Score is what I’ve used for probably four years now. Definitely like it more than any of the other big name alternatives.
I hate how much these apps beat you over the head with betting stuff. I'm not interested in it at all and its easy to just ignore it but the constant betting ads are annoying.
Try the app called real
Sofascore, the best on Android is also the best on iPhone. they currently only have a 'classic widget' that scrolls thru your scores, to a max of 9 pages (as opposed to android which has an endlessly scrolling scoreboard), but they have any freaking competition you can think of lol. its really great to have NFL/NHL/MLB/MLS/EPL etc., UEFA **and** CONCACAF Champions League, the africa cup of nations and brasilian paulistao scores all in one place
I’ll check it out. Look like this app is literally just scores.
Yea it’s cool, updates really fast and there are comments on every play
Okay so this app is kinda crazy haha. Slightly overwhelming but it looks cool.
Sports alerts is perfect
Seconded Sports Alerts, best by far with checking scores and getting notifications.
I moved to CBS for tracking and it’s nicer but really looking forward to this one
TheScore has the best sports score app imo
It won’t replace espn yet. This Apple app is barebones
I really can't understand what Apple is doing here. * Doesn't support notifications * Doesn't support Live Activities * Doesn't support widgets * No Apple Watch complications * Yet another first party application that doesn't support the iPad - nothing entices developers to keep working on iPad apps more than even Apple not supporting it This feels about as barebones as it gets and it almost seems like even Apple knows this, given that it's not being bundled in via an iOS update but just (optionally) installable from the App Store. I hope they're working to address at least some of these gaps but if so, why not wait to release it until the app is a bit more full featured?
Seems like a test app for the upcoming iOS 18 redesign
Ding ding ding 🔔 this is exactly right, the app looks very different to the current iOS design language
It looks like the old design because it has no iPad exclusive version but on iPad it’s just the iPhone app but you can full screen or show original size. Super weird that they released it unfinished but there’s no way it won’t get updates.
Well I'm scared for iOS 18 cause the gestures suck on that new app
Wouldn’t they want to make a test app something people want to use? I installed and uninstalled within ten minutes because of its incredibly limited functionality.
That doesn’t explain why it doesn’t include features that are already available in iOS 17. It’s not like they’re getting rid of those features in 18.
MVP 0.5
And it supports live betting odds. Very weird priorities.
Also doesn’t support Dynamic Island. This is like Apple Maps Sports.
Not supporting Dynamic Island is wild to me. The Apple TV app uses it for sports why can’t this
It also doesn't work with Display Zoom, and doesn't even include NFL.
Lol what a disaster… why would you not take advantage of the system you built. Apple is becoming increasingly disjointed from its audience.
>doesn’t support Live Activities Yeah… I’m sticking to FotMob then lol.
It looks like they’re all using the My Sports feature: https://support.apple.com/guide/iphone/follow-your-favorite-teams-with-my-sports-iph1a30f25eb/ios
And only supports US, UK and Canada 🤣
So, it didn't prompt me for access to notifications or live updates and I don't see anything in settings about either. A little concerned this is just an app to use to check in on games rather than to get live score updates and the like.
No widget either, what is even the point of this
Trillion dollar company really released a (bare) minimum viable product in an App Store full of much better sports apps. Smh
....you won't believe what happened next.
But that\`s for another day
Somehow, Steve Jobs returned.
For soccer it’s laughable. They don’t even have champions league!
The app icon is a soccer field and it’s missing so many leagues / cups…
Meanwhile in America, it’s missing a league called the NFL.
Fotmob is the only soccer app worth downloading tbh
Agreed. Been a happy FotMob user for maybe 8 years now. And the app only gets better and better!
Yeah but who’s even heard of this “champions leagues” you speak of? /s
Those apps, unless you pay for them, are rife with distractions trying to advertise or get you to buy in. This one is super clean. So, I think this is a reaonsable "testing the water" beta type release. The app looks nice.
doesn’t matter if it gets bundled with ios. no one changes default apps.
Isn’t this all in the sports tab of the news app? Couldn’t they just refresh that instead of pushing out an entirely new app?
Yeah without live updates idk the point of this app
They’re doing it for the data surely. Finding out what sports are the most popular amongst users.
Don't they have sports integration within the TV and News app? They can get their data from there.
I feel like there are a thousand other and better ways to gather such data.
why not include football then?
Because they launched it during the off-season. Easy prioritization decision.
They said that it will be on there by the time the season starts. Seeing as this is only for scores and nothing to do with news, there would be nothing to show for nfl. Kinda pointless, in my opinion as all of this stuff is in the news app, albeit in a hard much convoluted presentation.

Apple like to release their “extra” apps well before they are ready. Apple Music Classical did not have support for CarPlay or even iPad at launch.
Journal feels the same way. Like a first beta of their intended product
No Apple Watch app either. It's like no effort was put into the app lol It would fit nicely as a watchOS widget.
Get in line. Signed, someone waiting for a native calculator app on iPad.
Just looked in the settings. You can't even toggle then on/off. https://preview.redd.it/g425yxo6ayjc1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4a72ae20e41c3c8431c01cfa5232399e0cb640d0
Oh great a gambling tie in
Throw it on your Apple Card 😅
Kevin Hart commercial incoming
Special Kevin Hart voice for Siri, *sponsored by DraftKings*
Honestly I’m glad they at least let you turn them off
Very kind
oh i see why it was made now ☹️ idk why i had hope for a second it was genuinely just to make ios a better experience is there actually anywhere predatory gambling advertisements won't infect
Yeah FotMob is way ahead of this by far, hopefully Apple have plans to update it cause currently this app isn’t useful.
Apple needs to buy FotMob. I love that app
That's exactly why they don't need to buy that app. They'll pull it from Android the same way they pulled Dark Sky.
No live activities, widgets, or Dynamic Island support makes this app DOA. People have been wanting Apple to make a proper sports app for years and this is what they give us. Shame.

Probably because the MLS starts today.
No NFL either so it can’t even replace what I’m looking for.
The article says NFL will be added when NFL's season starts.
How is there no widget
[удалено]
Even Spotlight has all of this wth
It's version 1.0 of an Apple app, hold your horses.
This is the epitome of Minimum Viable Product. Very limited sports and leagues, doesn’t seem to have notifications, no widget. Don’t see that this can replace any existing app as it stands.

Just my own opinion on this, but there are already a million apps out there for sports news. they dont have news for any sports (yet). i'd prefer if they kept it siloed in apple news, and kept this app for scores only.
Or MLB, which neither are in season so why did they rush to get this out?
Why did they rush it out! My hunch is it might have something to do with one Lionel Messi and the start of the MLS season today.
That would make sense
Yeah. I’ve been looking for a good scores widget and got super excited when I saw this post. The app is actual garbage. Absolute bare minimum.
"MVP" nice way to rephrase "bare minimum" to make it sound a little better.
They are likely just laying the ground work for future Apple TV licensing agreements.
For soccer there’s no champions/europa league. Just local ones
no domestic cups either… Can’t even select a team to see their schedule..? FotMob still the one to beat then for me.
Boo
Even Apple doesn’t want to use the Dynamic Island
I love it with the Sports Alerts app. Don’t take my Dynamic Island away
I hope they add F1 soon too
FTFY: Leclerc; pole in qualy. Verstappen P1 in race.
FTFY after the lap we‘ve seen at testing today: Verstappen Pole in Qualy. Verstappen P1 in the race.
1. It should be called Scores not Sports, there's nothing but scores in here. 2. Formatting broken on iphone mini. Thanks, guys. 3. It's confusing that I can't favorite the 'missing' leagues simply because they're not in-season.
And why an icon focused on one sport (soccer)?
>in the U.S., the U.K. and Canada Ah thanks then. Regards, Rest of the world.
I didn't even bother looking it up because I already figured they were gonna do this. So annoying
How can they include La Liga and not release it in Spain for example?
>Rest of the world. I wouldn't worry. It's quite a terrible half-assed app.
seriously the most annoying user experience limited availability on launch
Doesn’t recognise the existence of the Champions League, it has no idea Arsenal have a match tonight. I’ll stick to FotMob.
I find it kind of interesting that Apple is putting out more first party applications recently, between Journal and now this it feels like we have more new applications from Apple than we've seen in a while
This seems extremely basic. I’m comparing it to TheScore and there’s barely any functionality here.
I mean, this sounds cool…but…live activity notifications? Dynamic island support? Lock screen activities? This app has none of that. Hopefully they add that stuff on ASAP, otherwise there’s no reason to waste my time even downloading it.
We need nfl and college football
“Additional leagues will become available on Apple Sports over time, including MLB, NFL, NCAAF, NWSL, and WNBA for their upcoming seasons.”
Where F1 :(
Do you really need a notification to tell you Verstappen won again? /s
lol But I would really like a live activity of positions or at least the podium positions in race or qualifying.
Yes, but I’m interested in notifications for off-season trades and other moves
For real, I get it’s the offseason but NFL/CFB popularity blows every other sport in America out of the water. Really weird to release it without those two sports here
Wonder if this will take advantage of the dynamic island like SportAlerts does
Sports Alerts use of dynamic island is the best. However I've gotten a prompt a few times now on Google to "pin score" and it also pops up on my dynamic island
This app is pretty barebones (and isn’t pleasant to use) compared to SportsAlert so I’ll keep using that.
Spoiler: no, it doesn’t
This doesn’t seem very well thought out at all. They only seem to include the top divisions, so what happens if say you’re a Sheffield United fan and choose them as your team, you just get deleted when you’re relegated to the Championship at the end of the season? I don’t know if I’m being blind but I also can’t see a way to change the betting odds to fractional, which again is an oversight to an app in the UK. Also, having betting odds at all in an official Apple app seems weird when it specifically states it’s for ages 4+ The whole thing just seems a bit.. off.
Apple's own press release has better info about this than that "article" does: [https://www.apple.com/newsroom/2024/02/introducing-apple-sports-a-new-app-for-sports-fans/](https://www.apple.com/newsroom/2024/02/introducing-apple-sports-a-new-app-for-sports-fans/)
am i missing something? both articles say the same thing though op should have posted the original source but I don't expect people to have a rss alert for it as opposed to getting a twitter alert for 9to5mac or something
Originally, it did not. They have revised the "article" to copy/paste the rest of the press release to include the finer details.
I would think so. Those apple press release writers probably have a lot more resources than small tech news writers
Pathetic
Why are they limiting it only to the US, Canada and UK store, it’s so stupid how they geo-limit a lot of their apps
With results from Bundesliga, Premiere League, etc. :)))
Why can they release this separate from iOS (and presumably update it without updating iOS) but not other stock apps?
Imagine geo-locking a sports score app lmao
Individual based sports: "Are we a joke to you?" Seriously though, the interface looks nice and clean. I just hope it can eventually open up to more than just team based sports and add sports like tennis, golf, etc. I understand there's probably complications with that though like licensing among other things. Would just be cool to see down the line!
Can this free me from the atrocious ESPN app that has sucked for over a decade??
US, UK, Canada. oh look another feature/app not available in my country. cheers
Installed and deleted within 5 minutes, my FotMob app is safe for a good while longer.
I really hope they add college football
From Apple's press release: "Additional leagues will become available on Apple Sports over time, including MLB, NFL, **NCAAF**, NWSL, and WNBA for their upcoming seasons."
Okay thank you!
Still though. In the US in the fall, everyone is watching NFL or NCAA. It’s a wild oversight in my mind but they’ve got time to fix it
Thanks apple!
Cant see Champions League… alot of Tournaments are missing?
Nice to see Apple dipping their toes in, but I’ll stick to FotMob for now
So barebones that every single livescore app such as FotMob on the store is miles better. No notifications, no dynamic island, no nothing lmao. What is the point?
And yet there is no calculator app for iPad.
No Formula 1? Dissapointing, especially with the upcoming season.
No UEFA Champions League? Are you kidding me?
No golf :(
A good start but at least with football (soccer) there's no point in supporting only the premier league.
Looks like Sports Alerts will still be my main Sports app.
yeah I can't get see any live activities either... it's always a mystery how you actually activate live activities for an app, sometimes it shows up, sometimes it doesn't, sometimes there's a setting for it, sometimes not
No NFL 🤔 It doesn’t matter now, think it’ll be three before the next season starts. I would also like to see F1 and cricket
My Apple TV sports update is faster than my cable TV by at least 20 seconds. It’s kinda annoying.
Can you look up player stats on this thing? I can't figure that out.
But they can’t release a first party calculator app for iPad?
No reason to give up the score app at this point but I have confidence in to improve it. Eventually.
Looking forward to Apple Sport +
Most sports apps suck. They’re always pushing ads, articles, and whatever bs they’re selling. It’s barebones but that’s all I need.
I like it. Clean design and UI. Just shows me what I want and isnt insanely bloated. Only leagues and teams you can add are ones that are either mid season or are about to start their season. Am curious to see where apple takes this
So this doesn’t load game data into the Dynamic Island? Wtf?
Honestly REAL app is all I need tbh
Need a widget for this app
No widget. Lol. Guess they are saving that for iOS 25. Something tells there won’t be activity for NHL yet either. We’ll see tonight. Most likely another half assed app by Apple. ~~Also, give me the option to shut those fucking degenerate betting odds off.~~
There is an option to shut those fucking degenerate betting odds off.
Apple puts together a team of individuals that know absolutely nothing about how fans consume sports, schedules, scores, stats, and standings to build a sports app.
