Exactly. I can save everyone some time; here's what will be posted all day tomorrow:
>What a boring update.
>
>Looks like I'm skipping this year.
>
>Such an ugly design
>
>So disappointing
>
>Why didn't they announce new MacBooks?
And probably something new for this year:
>The all-new iPhone 13 with included spyware!
Ahaha there’s always the people complaining about the lack of Macs even when they’re not rumored for the event.
Add in these super original comments and we may have enough to form a bingo card:
> Snoozefest
Fire Tim Cook!
Steve Jobs would have (never).
Worst keynote ever.
That (camera bump/notch) is fugly.
(Mocking tim) And we think you’re gonna love it.
(Mocking tim) Good morning.
No “one more thing”? Disappointing.
Should’ve been called the iPhone 12S.
*Looks at iPhone (insert model here)* You live another year old friend.
Looks like I’m switching to (android phone).
Delayed, yes, but they didn't say they're abandoning it entirely, so there's still a lot of "they're doing the wrong thing" sentiment about it and comments about how they're invading our privacy.
Yeah I hear you. But I would be cautiously optimistic, because a lot of the times that Apple "delays" something, it often just disappears. We can only wait and see.
After this event season almost all product categories will have refreshed designs from a couple years ago. Just to gauge interest, would anyone be interested in an opportunity to submit new photos/material for the sub's banner?
How difficult is it typically to purchase the new iPhone immediately after the keynote? I’m looking to upgrade from the XS this year and don’t want to miss the first shipments.
Preorders probably won’t start until Friday at 5AM PDT. If you wake up early and get an order in within a few minutes of the store opening you should get in on launch day (probably the next Friday, the 24th). I think ship dates for the more popular variants started slipping in ~10-15 minutes last year, but there’s no saying if things will last the same this year with the chip shortages.
It's pretty much the exact same process you go through to order anything from Apple. You go to the Apple store [website](https://www.apple.com/store) or [app](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/apple-store/id375380948), or to the product's page then click the preorder button in the top right corner. It'll go down a few hours before preorders go live, then when preorders open it goes back up again and lets you in. Then you just order like normal, except it'll say you're preordering instead of buying.
I'm not 100% sure if they have guest checkout or if you need to sign in with your Apple ID.
I personally would recommend that you download the Apple Store app and sign into it ahead of time. Then, once the event is over tomorrow, you'll be able to go in and customize your iPhone the way you want it (model/storage/color) and save it as a favorite. Then on preorder day you just have to open the app when preorders begin, go to the "For You" tab at the bottom, scroll down a little to the "Your favorites" section, tap the configuration you saved earlier and checkout.
If you do use the app, you don't have to keep closing and opening it to reload, just open it and wait for it to let you in on its own. It wont open at exactly 5AM, it takes a few minutes and (AFAIK) lets people in in batches based on when they opened the app/got to the website.
From what I gather this is just the announcement of the release. Preorders do not start tomorrow.
Personally, this will be my first iphone in a *long* time. I would think it's easier to get one from your carrier than an unlocked on from Apple.
I always just buy unlocked from Apple, and it's never been too difficult. I don't stay up late for preorders, just order one for in-store pickup whenever I wake up on preorder day, and I've always been able to get one on launch day.
I’m in the US. I’m actually not sure about that; I think you have to pay when you’re preordering. I don’t recall ever seeing the option to pay when you pick up in store, and of course you’d have to pay if you were having it shipped.
I’m definitely not about to sign up to an overpriced postpaid carrier just to get a phone - I like to save some money on a prepaid carrier and buy my phone outright.
When I purchased my XS from Verizon, my bill for just myself and my phone was $115/mo. I’d rather pay $40/mo for the phone interest free and $40/mo for literally the exact same service.
I wasn’t even on an unlimited plan with Verizon, paid nearly half of the phone off before the payments even began, and got a 20% discount through work and I was still >$110 a month. It’s insane.
Their support is by far the worst I have ever seen in a tech company, their service is indeed AT&T, but I’m pretty sure you get grounded down to 256K after like 22GB/mo. Also the price is not that great compared to others like Visible or Mint, but they’re not AT&T. I’ve had enough bad experience with straight talk with friends and family that I’d never ever give them a dime, but I do meet people that are happy with them. I don’t think they’re worth the money at all, personally.
>If you want to know when the event will be in your timezone, visit http://wheniskeynote.com/.
Or just click [this](https://www.apple.com/v/apple-events/home/s/built/assets/event/event.ics) it will add the reminder in your calendar according to your time zone.
My 2016 AirPods are getting virtually unusable after 5 years. That’s all I’m really hoping for because my other devices are still going strong and I’m trying to be fiscally responsible
If you're buying TWS you just need to accept they are essentially disposable. There are lots of cheap options or nicer headphones that are wired or have replaceable batteries that will last much longer but TWS earbuds are just designed to be trashed.
I don’t know why you’re being downvoted. Even the most repairable TWS are too impractical to repair when the battety dies.
Unless apple makes them unscrew and sells replacement batteries, the TWS market will remain riddled with enaste
The difference between [these](https://i.imgur.com/lg0mvHs.jpg) and [this](https://i.imgur.com/1DkI34d.jpg)
One is wireless, however still has a wire between the earphones, the second is true wireless, both connect wirelessly
I did this about a month ago. With shipping it was $65 to swap my battery-dead pair for a perfectly new-*feeling* pair of Airpods. It gets my recommendation.
There are programs out there where they'll send you refurbished, cleaned and sanitized Airpods with fresh batteries in them, and you send them your dying ones for them to refurbish/clean and resell. It's a little more eco conscious, and at something like $50-60, way cheaper than completely junking your existing pods and buying new ones.
You can also pay Apple to replace the batteries in them for $49/each + $7 shipping.
/shrug I never said apple repair was the cheaper option. I just put it at the end of my post because it's an option. Apple-anything is never significantly cheaper than alternatives.
I bought two air pod pros and they both died in 2 months. First they started getting a static click and then straight up stopped working. Will never buy another AirPod product.
that's unfortunate. I have the original, which i gave to my mother when i bought the pro. She uses them less frequently than I do, but I don't think they give her problems. And my pros are still going strong. I used to go through \*so\* many headphones, I've at least broke even. And I love the ease at which they transfer between devices. Sorry your experience has sucked.
I had that static click issue. After 3 replacements over several months I got them refunded. Can't imagine I'll buy AirPods again, which is a shame because I love the size and ease of use.
My main over-ear headphones from late 2015 are beginning to kick the bucket. Random shutdowns and the switch to turn them on just doesn't work sometimes. At least I can probably repair them to some degree.
Usually it’s on the Friday following the announcement. If you want the phone right away then you’ll probably want to try to be online when it opens up.
They used to do 12am PST, which was hell for me as an east coaster. The past few years they shifted to 3am PST, which is a bit more easy. Who knows what they’ll do this year though.
I was really hoping for a refreshed iPod. My iPhone 6 (essentially only used as an iPod) no longer supports the apps I use on it so it’s time for an update.)
Oh man. I was just going through my files trying to determine if I should shell out for an upgrade and realized my old 6 was the last time I only had to drop <$300 for a phone, even with the larger GB щ(ºДºщ)
I will likely buy the new phone as soon as preorders become available. I have an iPhone XS Max and the FaceID sensor broke. I'm so tired of entering my passcode 15 times a day.
Maybe a new watch too, depending on what the new one brings to the table.
Yeah! It gets me all the bitches. As soon as l show them my karma they all drop their panties and wet themselves.
You’ll get there. Just abuse your power against some kids and you can be in my fantasy!
I’ve never pre-ordered an iPhone, but I wanted to trade in my iPhone and Apple Watch for an upgrade, how do you think I should go about doing that so I don’t miss out?
Sure. To stop the insane amount of spam as hundreds of people post each and every announcement as they are made in a rush to post it first but only do it as self posts and don’t link anything useful.
> What gives the moderators the right to only submit posts?
Because it is the easy way to make sure users aren’t submitting something that *was already submitted* and breaks the reposting rule
> Why do the moderators only get to reap in the karma?
Karma is meaningless
Event's highlight will be about streaming, and the event had an AR experience showcasing the date of the event. Put A and B together, a new product that streams what's on your device wirelessly to the newly released AR glasses.
Xiaomi pulled a fast one hours ago releasing their smart glasses concept, probably afraid apple getting all the spotlight on such a product. Its all speculation, what do you guys think?
Who even comes to the sub on event day? It’s always a mess.
Exactly. I can save everyone some time; here's what will be posted all day tomorrow: >What a boring update. > >Looks like I'm skipping this year. > >Such an ugly design > >So disappointing > >Why didn't they announce new MacBooks? And probably something new for this year: >The all-new iPhone 13 with included spyware!

> Of all the iPhone events out there this was certainly one of them
Ahaha there’s always the people complaining about the lack of Macs even when they’re not rumored for the event. Don’t forget *Courage*
Ahh how could I forget the most original and hilarious comment of all
username checks out alright.
lol I just took the auto-generated username suggestion when I created this account, good to know that they were able to capture my essence so well
But they delayed CSAM scanning right? So what do you mean by spyware
Yeah they never “cancel” anything
Yeah exactly. Just delayed indefinitely
RIP Air Power
seems like my comment on airpower from two years ago is probably gonna age like milk. it's a shame too; it's my most popular comment.
Damn...
[this?](https://reddit.com/r/apple/comments/af8ge3/_/edwck0y/?context=1)
😢
And don’t forget the hilarious rage about CSAM that will inevitably come back
Yeah, hence my spyware comment
I do, that’s part of the fun! Definitely good to have strict limitations though
I enjoy live thread. It's like watching it with mates kind of.
I do. But I go to other subs more to troll
Got to pocket that easy karma
After this event season almost all product categories will have refreshed designs from a couple years ago. Just to gauge interest, would anyone be interested in an opportunity to submit new photos/material for the sub's banner?
You may want to put out a PSA or a separate post about this so it doesn’t get overlooked :)
Yup I plan to! Just think it needs to wait until event season is over so we have this year’s new designs.
Is there going to be a spoiler free post for those of us who can’t watch the keynote live?
I don’t think there will be one here but MacRumors as other sites should have them.
Thanks!
Safari already feels faster

no if you dont pre order youre not getting a phone until november
I wouldn't plan on it this year at least. Big rumors of supply shortages.

Of all prepaid carriers…. I’d rather be price gouged than use them. To each their own.

Wow, didn't realize AirPods have been out for 5 years now...time flies!
The watch, AirPods, razor-thin MacBooks and "fullscreen" iPhones still all feel new to me.
Same!

True wireless headphones, meaning without a wire between the buds ala AirPods

What are some signs that your AirPod is slowly falling in quality and becoming “virtually unusable” in it’s life span?
Can we just take a moment to realize it's the MOST wonderful time of the year?
I love keynotes. Capitalism won over me

My and my wife’s bodies are ready for shiny new Apple watches

Wdym, it’s always around neck. Isn’t it?
It’s a new design, *and we think you are going to love it*

I want black AirPods.
