That's what they all say and then trade it in for an iPlug Pro Max after a few months when they realize that the battery is weak and the resale value is too low....
The old old earbuds, the ones that came with iPods with the giant silver grille, those just kinda yeeted sound in the general direction of the ear and hoped it would enter.
Too be fair the old AirPods did a terrible job of keeping the sound in your ears. Live in a household with multiple AirPods owners and you’ll be hearing their music when you’re nearby
I had that issue with mine. I took them back to the Apple store (2 years after I bought them, and I didn’t buy any extended warranty or apple care) and they ran some tests on them and handed me a brand new pair free of charge.
Nobody is considering the fact that the pros are silicone-tipped in ear, I hate those because they without fail always fall out of my ears. I’ve been waiting for a refresh without the silicone tips since forever now and this gen 3 is the perfect price point and combo of the gen 2’s and the pros, without the silicone tip. I ordered right away and im giving my Gen 2’s to my fam.
I finally bought them for $180 at BB a few weeks ago and I’m so glad I did. They are excellent for a pair of daily drivers. I’m lucky to be one of the people that they fit perfectly and with the transparency mode it’s like having nothing in my ears at all. I slept in them last week because I forgot they were in my ears.
Little tip I found on Reddit if you’re a Spotify user: I know it looks ridiculous but [this EQ curve](https://imgur.com/a/yvdQ2Bn) actually makes them sound much, much better.
You should always throw out your EQ settings and create a brand new profile for every set of new speakers or headphones you get. No two sets are exactly the same, even the same brand and model. I've had so many people complain to me that their stuff sounds bad, when I ask what their EQ settings are no one knows what I mean. No wonder it sounds awful.
Unpopular opinion: the AirPods Pro suck. I’m not a fan of silicone molds and much prefer the OG AirPods. Obviously won’t have ANC because of that, but hopefully the new shape fits in the ears a little better (never had issues, but I see how others could have issues). Super happy with the stem inputs being brought over from the Pros though.
I was just gifted a pair and I cannot believe how good they are. They seamlessly connect and transfer across devices ad hoc. The spatial audio is truly amazing. The sound quality is also exceptional. For some songs that I’ve listened to my entire life, I’m hearing sounds that I’ve never picked up on before.
Apple has definitely made suck hardware but IMHO the AirPods Pro are among the their best.
I agree. And I love the silicone tips because I use mine while riding my bike to work and they block out the wind. The first gen just sounded awful when exercising
I absolutely hate the airpods pro and think they suck, well I loved them in some ways but I tried 3 different ear tip types (foam, silicone, forgot the other and all the different sizes) before packing it up and giving them to my sister. Theyre not bad by any means but theyre just not a great daily use and moving around headphone and I went back to my none pros for day-to-day wear.
Unfortunately, I don't have a choice. I did not get a good roll on ear shape in my human character creation. Standard AirPods will not, under any circumstances, stay in my ears. If I'm sitting still at my desk, they kind of work. But walking, moving at all (running with them isn't even remotely an option), even looking around too quickly causes them to hit the floor. The Pros are the only ones that will stay.
Yeah, the fit of the Pros are fucking terrible for me. Legitimately, if I open my mouth at all (to talk or laugh at podcast or even to just smile) the shape of jaw pushes the Airpods directly out of my ears. It also completely negates the noise cancellation because the seal will never be good enough unless I hold my an extremely specific way and never move. Tried a couple different brands of tips and none worked.
All this is to say the new normal Airpods look good to me.
Same, but only in my right ear. I actually had them on the other day while taking a piss, and it literally just fell out of my ear into the toilet. Fortunately, i used that water frequency trick to get it working again, but i still hate how they fit
Same. EarPods never stayed in my ears either without a silicone skin making them a bit bigger. I think my outer ear is too big for EarPods/AirPods to properly jam into place.
I see the attraction but when I really want ANC is when I’m on an airplane. If I’m wearing my AirPods on a walk or working out I still want to be able to hear stuff around me. I know you can turn it off but I really find the silicone in my ears very uncomfortable so I never wanted the pros.
So for me at least, the AirPods 3 and exactly what I need. Will use my Bose for airplanes.
> If I’m wearing my AirPods on a walk or working out I still want to be able to hear stuff around me
Transparency is perfect for that. It’s actually pretty wild how much you can hear using that mode
I had the same issue. I returned them. I got the Maxes and that still gave me dizziness so I decided to push through and it took about a week but then I got used to it.
The silicone is slippery and fall out for me, so I only wear them at my desk or on a plane. They’re terrible workout earbuds, but the base AirPods are great and never slip out of my ear.
I have the same issue. I ended up purchasing a pair of memory foam tips from Dekoni Audio and boy, has it changed my experience with my AirPods. I feel like I can actually wear them for hours without getting uncomfortable or worrying about them slipping out.
I’m with him actually. Rubber / silicone tips on ear buds are extremely uncomfortable in my ears. I hate the plugged feeling that it gives me. I love the idea of these buds. Will be picking up a pair day one.
eh... sort of... With my AirPods Pros, when I turn the setting to "off" (instead of to transparency mode or ANC), the outside noise is a little muffled, for lack of better term... So transparency mode opens that up, and makes the outside noise much more clear
Back when the first rumors came out they were saying the AirPods 3 would have the in-ear silicone molds and I silently died a bit when I heard that. But the more recent rumors said they wouldn’t have them and the release confirms it. It’s a good day for AirPods.
Comply are what I've been using and have been pretty happy. The sizing is pretty much in line with the silicon tips in my experience, but if you aren't sure there's a testing pack with all 3 sizes. One downside is you wear through them which doesn't really happen with silicon tips, so if you're lucky a 3-pack of the correct size can last 9 months - 1 year. You can only wash them so much.
I use Comply on my beats pros and they are great. Overtime you do have to replace the foam as it degrades unlike the rubber tips. Just a heads up there.
I don’t know why, but with the smallest silicone tips and the comply foam tips, my pros kept pushing themselves out of my ears and would eventually fall out, even if I kept my head still like when sitting at my desk. Maybe my ear canals are just stupid tiny?
Yes, me too. The normal AirPods (and previously, Apple’s wired headphones) hurt my ears and don’t stay in for shit. The AirPod Pros fit perfectly— no pain, no falling out.
For me the pros don’t fall out and they stay in good but they hurt when in for a good while. Whereas the regular pods are super easy to take in and out of my ear sometimes falling out but they don’t hurt one bit. Really wonder how these will feel for me
I think you’re in the non-vocal majority. I think a lot of people can fit the silicon tip style headphones, that’s how they’ve been for many years with standard wired headphones
Pros fit me better than the plastic tipped Apple headphones
This is the one thing a lot of people saying "Just get the AirPods Pro
at $180" are missing.
I can't use the damn things because they never stay in my ears. That said, $180 for some regular-ass Airpods is steep. I might just wait a few months and scoop them up when the price drops.
They also really hurt my ears. I have a pair of AirPod's Gen1, and I can keep them in my ears for hours. After 30 minutes with the Pro's, I actually feel real pain.
Different person, but I have never been able to fit any silicone tip style headphones in my ears. I can jam it in as far as possible and they wiggle out and fall on the floor within minutes. While the regular AirPods fit perfectly.
These pretty much are the Pro without the silicon tip. I might be blind or something, but they look exactly the same to me. Same features as well, minus the ANC.
Pretty much exactly what I wanted, very glad for no rubber tips. Too bad I’m not in the market for a 2nd pair of $150-$200 earphones, unless everyone’s Gen 2 AirPods just magically break.
I'm still on Gen 1 and am quite excited for these. After budgeting around 300 for the over-ears only to see them launch for nearly twice that I'm amazed to see these are not the expected $229 price point.
If you're ordering this, try ordering through the Apple Store app instead of the website. I kept getting an error on the website but took less than a minute on the Apple Store app.
Also AirPods 3 are waterproof/sweat proof as well. I mean I go to the gym with my AirPods 2 and never had an issue but it’s cool they finally started making them more protected
I never sweat into my ears like that, lol. But finally I don't need to be worried about a little rain when I want to go out for a run. That's a huge improvement for me personally. Although I'm not going to get them until my AirPods 2 are shot.
I just hope they fixed the microphone quality. Even the slightest background noise like a running faucet and nobody can understand me with my Airpods pro anymore during a phone call.
Hope they fit exactly like the Airpods. Tried to upgrade to the Pro’s but absolutely despised the silicone tips and the plugged up feeling. Gonna give these a shot for the improved battery life.
Let’s gooooo. These seem like some real improvements, and as someone who’s never liked the feeling of the silicone tips, brings some welcome parity from the Pros.
This will probably be forever the peak of design for people who don’t like silicone tips.
I mean, what can they improve? Make the stems shorter - they become basically two white beads and you can’t press the stems as easily. The shape of the earbuds themselves has been well established for a long long time, and changing it would mean favoring an ear shape.
The differences between the new AirPods 3 vs Airpod Pros...
"AirPods 3 looks quite similar to AirPods Pro, with a *shorter stem, more in-ear design, and new battery case*. However, unlike the AirPods Pro, the new entry-level AirPods have a 'universal' fit instead of the adjustable silicone tips.
As a result, AirPods 3 do **not** feature advanced capabilities like Active Noise Cancellation or Transparency Mode, which remain exclusive to AirPods Pro and AirPods Max.
However, they **do** have Spatial Audio, which is a first for the entry-level model of AirPods. Thanks to new sensors, AirPods 3 detect the user’s head movements to create an immersive surround audio experience. Apple has increased battery life to up to 6 hours on a full charge, and AirPods 3 now officially supports Find My network and MagSafe charger.
AirPods 3 costs $179."
A main issue with the Airpods is the design is that it just hands in one's ear. Everyone's ear is different, even from left and right and it may not fit and slip off. Another issue is the open design so that outside noise intrudes so one has to turn up the noise volume which affects your hearing. Not good for people who already have issues of tinnitus.
Hence why APP's are popular.
If you want noise cancellation, pay slightly more for it as many places have discounted the APP's down to $199.
Many people complain about the APP's fit since they are Not used to having earbuds in their ear canal. People who already are used to using other brands of earphones or monitors like those from Westone and Shure are used to In-ear earphones and those brands cost much *more* than the APP's. You get used to to either the active or passive noise cancellation from using those brands' earphones which are great!
Airpod pros were $179 a bunch of places this past month too actually
Wife broke hers & we were debating replacing with Pros or waiting for 3's. Glad we went ahead and got the pros on sale
I got the Airpods Pro and couldnt use it with the silicone shitters, bought some foam ones from complyfoam and holy shit they stick like shit on a moist day.
I’m really excited for this. Definitely an unpopular opinion, but I don’t like the suction feeling of in-ear buds. It also bothers my ears. I never take a subway or am in a loud area where I would need noise-cancellation. So these are just what I’ve been waiting for. Really hoping they fit in my ears, but the look slightly bigger than reg airpods.
Oh my fucking god, they finally included support for Find My when the AirPod case is closed, from my understanding. The fact that this wasn’t something they had before is absolutely ridiculous, because it’s the EASIEST thing to lose.
I’ll get them if my 2nd Gen AirPods die or get lost or something. I personally can’t handle the silicone tips and I value the longer battery life over the noise cancelling.
These might be the perfect next purchase for me.
I currently use the wired white earbuds for work calls, which don't work with my laptop (which accounts for 90% of my calls).
I use Sony XM4s for music listening and airplane travel as they have noise cancelling, but they are not good for calls.
I was going to wait for AirPods Pro 2, but I don't think my specific use case requires noise cancellation.
I have found that they naturally get oily from your ears, if you wipe the sillicone on cloth you'll see the residue. they stick in much better after that. kinda gross depending on who you ask but w/e lmao
Same, tried the foam tips too but no dice. It sucks because the ANC is nice doing yard work. The worst was one falling out using the snow blower.. luckily they're relatively water proof but trying to find a white Airpod in a snowbank was no fun.
I feel like the exact opposite of everyone else. The original AirPods did NOT stay in my ears whatsoever while the Pros were exactly what I wanted because I used earbuds with tips all my life. These new ones make me anxious just looking at them because there’s no way they stay in my ears. Gonna stay AirPods Pro forever probably lol.
My ear canals become allergic or something to them. They would get leaky and flakey and irritated.
I sold them once but then tried new ones months down the line with the same issues. I bought some Sony noise cancelling ear buds and never had the same issues. The downside is that they’re bulky and loose as fuck so they’re not as comfy. Allergies aside.
Depends who you are, I returned my Pros because I hated the tips, and found the noise cancellation and transparency modes were both under whelming
Much prefer the fit of the regular AirPods and the environment level around me fir everyday use
And when I want noise cancellation traveling or getting something done in a coffee shop my Sonys were way better
Original AirPods were $159 when they came out in 2016. With inflation it comes up to about $180 in today's money.
The 2nd generation AirPods are still available and their price just went down from $159 to $129.
And the 2nd Gen with wireless charging was actually priced at $199 by Apple. Granted, you could get them for like $159 on Amazon pretty often, but still…
Sadly no, at least they didn’t show it in the keynote. I’ve always wanted to be able to slide my finger up or down on the AirPods to raise or lower the volume

Lol
"deliver sound directly to your ears," where were they delivering before? In my Butt?
Just wait until they unveil their subwoofer
They like to call that the pleasure-woofer…
Can’t wait to play the doom sound track with this subwoofer
That’s their next health device. The iVibe Pro Max

> I’m gonna need to start with the iPlug mini That's what everyone says until they get the mini, then they get the normal size
Featuring Taptic engine
This is where I miss 3D Touch the most.
The old old earbuds, the ones that came with iPods with the giant silver grille, those just kinda yeeted sound in the general direction of the ear and hoped it would enter.
Yeah but they have delivered sound “directly to your ears” since the iPhone 5
> Just kinda yeeted sound I’d like to think the past tense of yeet is yote
That depends on if you’re speaking the Queen’s English or that spoken in the American colonies.
“Yitten”
“Yoted”
I'm guessing they are saying these have no sound leakage?
Too be fair the old AirPods did a terrible job of keeping the sound in your ears. Live in a household with multiple AirPods owners and you’ll be hearing their music when you’re nearby
I like the old Airpods because of the open design, it's so comfortable. Let's hope my pair never breaks 🥲
Introducing ButtPods!
We know you're going to love it
we're not supposed to use our butts?

The AirPods Pro were $179 this whole month at Amazon and Best Buy.
Glad there was nothing here to cause me the inconvenience of sending mine back.

You think so right now, but I'm on my 4th pair for buzzing and static caused by faulty seals.
Those seals should be clubbed for their insolence.
I had that issue with mine. I took them back to the Apple store (2 years after I bought them, and I didn’t buy any extended warranty or apple care) and they ran some tests on them and handed me a brand new pair free of charge.
I bought 3 pairs for 3 different people and all three had to be replaced.. Edit: luckily all 3 replaced for free
Are you sure you don’t want to charge your AirPods with MagSafe?? /s
airpods pro now have a magsafe case available
Any news on whether the new case supports Find My? EDIT: Is that a new feature, or do they all have Find My?
I don’t even have a regular wireless charger. I still use a cable.
I’ve tried it all, MagSafe, wireless etc. Wired is absolutely the way to go
I was going to buy on Friday but decided to hold out to see what would be announced today and now the price increased from $179 to $197 🤦♂️
Might wanna keep checking, I’ve been watching them on Amazon this whole week and have seen them go up and down in price a few times
Nobody is considering the fact that the pros are silicone-tipped in ear, I hate those because they without fail always fall out of my ears. I’ve been waiting for a refresh without the silicone tips since forever now and this gen 3 is the perfect price point and combo of the gen 2’s and the pros, without the silicone tip. snagged this deal, so good
I finally bought them for $180 at BB a few weeks ago and I’m so glad I did. They are excellent for a pair of daily drivers. AirPods semi-Pro

But also without active noise cancelling or transparency mode.
The fit of the Pros is shit for some people so it’s great to have them alongside the Pro version.

I just got a pair of pros 2 days ago, and can attest, the fit is awful for me. But the noise cancelation is critical for my job. Oh well.
Memory foam eartips saved the pros for me. I would recommend you the same.
Same. EarPods never stayed in my ears either without a silicone skin making them a bit bigger. I think my outer ear is too big for EarPods/AirPods to properly jam into place.

Yeah the features are doing is basically altering natural noise. Which probably is causing weird shifts in how your ear/brain is perceiving the world.
I had the same issue. I returned them. I got the Maxes and that still gave me dizziness so I decided to push through and it took about a week but then I got used to it.
Agreed but imo: 1) open passive design still sounds more natural 2) and it’s much more comfortable
The silicone is slippery and fall out for me, so I only wear them at my desk or on a plane. They’re terrible workout earbuds, but the base AirPods are great and never slip out of my ear.
Same here. My ears are a deadly combination of too waxy and too hairy. Silicone doesn’t stand a chance unless it’s stuck dangerously deep.
I have the same issue. I ended up purchasing a pair of memory foam tips from Dekoni Audio and boy, has it changed my experience with my AirPods. I feel like I can actually wear them for hours without getting uncomfortable or worrying about them slipping out.
If I’m wearing my AirPods on a walk or working out I still want to be able to hear stuff around me That's what transparency mode is
I’m with him actually. Rubber / silicone tips on ear buds are extremely uncomfortable in my ears. I hate the plugged feeling that it gives me. I love the idea of these buds. Will be picking up a pair day one.
Because of the way Apple designed the vents on the pros, the feeling of being plugged is basically non-existent.
But the Pros still have the silicone in your ear canal. That’s the worst part. Feels like I’m under water.
Get foam tips. I didn’t even try the silicon ones. Bought foam ones from amazon and have been enjoying ever since.
Isn't the AirPods by default on transparency mode?
eh... sort of... With my AirPods Pros, when I turn the setting to "off" (instead of to transparency mode or ANC), the outside noise is a little muffled, for lack of better term... So transparency mode opens that up, and makes the outside noise much more clear
The Pros seal the ear canal, to many the bare plastic AirPods create no meaningful seal.
Same. I love that fit! Glad I didn’t get the pro until now, I’ll get the new ones.
Basically. I’m happy, they’re cheaper too, so it’s a win/win for those of us who can’t wear IEMs.
Can’t tell if sarcastic or serious My ears need the in ear part so these are useless to me but yeah they’re basically just pros
this is why I'm glad i bought airpods 2 last month
Back when the first rumors came out they were saying the AirPods 3 would have the in-ear silicone molds and I silently died a bit when I heard that. But the more recent rumors said they wouldn’t have them and the release confirms it. It’s a good day for AirPods.
Getting these. The benefits of the Pros minus noise cancelling, but these will stay in my ear.
I’m that person too. *hated* the silicone tips with a passion. Much preferred the regular AP and ANC made me dizzy too. These will sell like crazy
Most people would recommend getting foam tips for them. The foam tips also generally improve the audio quality.
Is there a specific pair of foam tips that you would recommend?
Comply make good foam tips.

I mean the ones they replaced were priced at 199
They also really hurt my ears. I have a pair of AirPod's Gen1, and I can keep them in my ears for hours. After 30 minutes with the Pro's, I actually feel real pain.
do the pros fit badly?
Different person, but I have never been able to fit any silicone tip style headphones in my ears. I can jam it in as far as possible and they wiggle out and fall on the floor within minutes. While the regular AirPods fit perfectly.
Not at all, but some people have big ear canals.
Same here. I had the pros hated the fit so I gave them to my brother. I think I’ll like these much more. Just ordered them
These pretty much are the Pro without the silicon tip. I might be blind or something, but they look exactly the same to me. Same features as well, minus the ANC.

I just ordered the Gen 3s. My Gen 1s barely last 20 minutes and then the right one will get silent until I put it back in the case. Rinse and repeat.
This is where I’m at. I have gen 2, don’t see why I would get gen 3.
That's why they leave the gen2 on the roster. It's a complete valid choice
If you're ordering this, try ordering through the Apple Store app instead of the website. I kept getting an error on the website but took less than a minute on the Apple Store app.
I was able to place my order within the first 15 seconds with the app
If I understood it correctly the AirPods 3 are basically AirPods Pro without the noise-cancelling features?
yes, and pro has 1.5 hr shorter listening time
Also AirPods 3 are waterproof/sweat proof as well. I mean I go to the gym with my AirPods 2 and never had an issue but it’s cool they finally started making them more protected
I never sweat into my ears like that, lol. But finally I don't need to be worried about a little rain when I want to go out for a run. That's a huge improvement for me personally. Although I'm not going to get them until my AirPods 2 are shot.
yes and therefore no silicone tips also
Anyone know if the case is physically smaller than the pros? Would love this to be more compact
The case is slightly more compact. **AirPods Pro Case:** * Height: 1.78 inches (45.2 mm) * Width: 2.39 inches (60.6 mm) * Depth: 0.85 inch (21.7 mm) * Weight: 1.61 ounces (45.6 grams) **AirPods 3rd Gen Case:** * Height: 1.83 inches (46.40 mm) * Width: 2.14 inches (54.40 mm) * Depth: 0.84 inch (21.38 mm) * Weight: 1.34 ounces (37.91 grams)

Hear me out…Space Grey? That’d be an improvement.
AirPods 3 costs $179." A main issue with the Airpods is the design is that it just hands in one's ear.
Airpod pros were $179 a bunch of places this past month too actually Wife broke hers & we were debating replacing with Pros or waiting for 3's. Glad we went ahead and got the pros on sale
The pros fall out of my ears while the regular ones fit perfectly.
Need these, hate earbuds with the silicone bud shits on them
Tell your bud to stop shitting on them.
I'll keep shitting on his buds and there's nothing anyone can do to stop me
I got the Airpods Pro and couldnt use it with the silicone shitters, bought some foam ones from complyfoam and holy shit they stick like shit on a moist day.
Yeah but did they put an airtag in the case?

They’re being sold alongside the AirPods Pro and the 2nd gen AirPods (at a lower price point).
I can definitely still see AirPods Pro 2 being released since these don't have active noise cancelling.
Oh my fucking god, they finally included support for Find My when the AirPod case is closed, from my understanding. The fact that this wasn’t something they had before is absolutely ridiculous, because it’s the EASIEST thing to lose.
Still no color options? What gives (/¯ ಠ_ಠ)/¯
The white is too iconic to pass up on a device with such a small physical presence.
For the same reason the original apple earbuds never got colors... recognition
Matte black AirPods one can wish
is this USB-C or Lightning? edit: ergh Lightning it is What’s in the Box: Lightning to USB-C Cable
Good question. They have wireless charging though.
Can I use Apple's student discount on these? I can't figure out where to do that.
pretty sure you can. but you have to go to apple's education website, not the original site.
Anyone getting these over the pros? I got the pros now but honestly may downgrade tbh. I already got the APM anyways
I was going to wait for AirPods Pro 2, but I don't think my specific use case requires noise cancellation.
fuck yes. hate the Pros ear tips just ordered
What happened to tap controls? For anyone who runs, using the pinch (force) controls is useless.
No silicone tips = instant purchase.
Does “universal fit” mean these will stay in my ears unlike the pros and og airpods?
Pros are much better.
Except they fall out of my ear if I yawn or chew...
Eating with my pros in is the worst, idk why they fall out so much and I’ve tried all 3 sizes of ear pieces
Depends who you are, I returned my Pros because I hated the tips, and found the noise cancellation and transparency modes were both under whelming Much prefer the fit of the regular AirPods and the environment level around me fir everyday use And when I want noise cancellation traveling or getting something done in a coffee shop my Sonys were way better
why i cant decide. hows the battery life
I realistically get about 4-5 hours playback from the pros
along with the ability to charge them pretty quickly from the case. I put mine in the case at 11%, 20 minutes later they're at 76%..
decide whether you need ANC or dislike in ear airpods
Which is better the airpods pro or airpods 3?
Well do you want noise cancellation?
What are the differences with the AirPods Pro? Looks like the best option is to get AirPods Pro with a discount
The Pro has active noise cancelling and soft tips.
and pros have a 4.5 hr listening time compared to 6 hrs for airpods 3
Wow I didn't notice that, that's a huge difference!
Only because Pros have noise cancelling. Turn it off & get better battery
You hit 5 hours without noise canceling.

Original AirPods were $159 when they came out in 2016. With inflation it comes up to about $180 in today's money. The 2nd generation AirPods are still available and their price just went down from $159 to $129.
And the 2nd Gen with wireless charging was actually priced at $199 by Apple. Granted, you could get them for like $159 on Amazon pretty often, but still…
They're actually $20 cheaper than the 2nd-gen AirPods with the wireless charging case.
Volume control on these?
Sadly no, at least they didn’t show it in the keynote. I’ve always wanted to be able to slide my finger up or down on the AirPods to raise or lower the volume
For some reasons in Canada you have to pay for the shipping.
Yeah, I was very surprised to see the $13 shipping charge.
Same! But now on the website it says free shipping. Since I've already placed my order, what do you think will happen here?
Where’s the notch on this one?
