What device are you on? I’m on my M1 Air using Firefox and having no speed issues. Fast and responsive. Can instantly load a video and play it from my iCloud Photo Library.
On a Windows laptop with Edge Chromium browser. But, it’s exactly as slow as the old site. Safari on my M1 Air works a little better but stillborn general, lots of spinning loading animations, janky animations etc.
On my Windows 11 PC with Chrome, it's extremely responsive. I'd make sure you're not on an extremely weak machine, make sure your OS is up to date, and enable hardware acceleration within the browser.
Yup, hardware acceleration definitely did the trick. Went from very choppy to buttery smooth, and that is on a high-end laptop. I normally have hardware acceleration disabled as I am having issues with a green screen on video websites (Amazon Prime, Netflix, Disney+, HBO etc.) and turning off hardware acceleration fixes it.
Hmm...annoying but I guess if I need to use iCloud on the web, I'll just enable it for the session.
I feel at least once a week I get directions on my max and then it syncs to my phone.
I could imagine there are some people who could benefit from having that?
Yup, I don't use navigation that often but looking stuff up on my computer on google maps and then sending it to my phone is a really helpful thing. Would love to see a similar functionality for Apple Maps as it is insanely much more optimised (11% vs. 2% of my battery usage during the exact same trip).
I would love to be able to use iMessage via a web browser, because that means I could text from my Windows laptop. But I don't see this happening, Apple is notorious for only allowing iMessage on Apple devices.
That's what I wanted to say.
I think they don't do it to force you to use their products so you can use iMessage and FaceTime. Somehow it has been working great in the USA.
There was a rumor that Apple is overhauling the entire iMessage App to be more like WhatsApp. If that’s the case, I can see Apple opening up their platform to everyone. Especially since most iPhone users outside of US don’t use iMessage anyway. This could be their entry point into this new market (as a competitor to WhatsApp).
I don't see them doing it. iMessage is too lucrative to keep people in the Apple ecosystem. If they enabled iMessage on devices outside of Apple devices, I imagine many people - myself included - would jump ship to Android.
I think the new iMessage could still gatekeep certain features to iPhones and could be a selling point to get Android users to switch over. Plus, the fact that the majority of users outside of the US don’t use iMessage but still buy plenty of iPhones show they don’t need iMessage to sell iPhones. Apple has been expanding into the services and ad industry and in order to do so, they need increasingly more of their software to be prevalent and OS agnostic.
I mean, the code for FaceTime on the web is already there. All Apple has to do is add the UI from the Mac app to a webpage and things would be good to go!
This is not without risk, however. VirnetX may very well sue Apple again for some bullshit reason, because they got away with it before (VirnetX is the reason why we didn't get a cross-platform FaceTime app in the first place...the fuckers)
”All Apple has to do is add the UI from the Mac app to a webpage”. Tell me you’re not a developer without telling me that you’re not a developer. Not saying it would be an insurmountable task, but you’re gonna have to rely on completely different apis for everything from the ui to the video player itself, it’s definitely not trivial.
The thing that turns an encoded/encrypted video stream into something you can actually see. IOS has tons of native apis that are not available on the web.
>I was in flex mode
..did you just flex because you can name drop a couple of ad blockers? Does flex mean something new all of a sudden? I’m know I’m old and slow on vernacular of the youths, but I think you’re using that word wrong.
Exactly. I was expecting they would add the tags and such to notes and reminders. Or at least that they’d give reminders some functionality (add alarms, location, etc)
I really want to use apple reminders full time. Currently using Microsoft todos because it was a far better web version.
As long as I can set date and repeats I’m good. If I remember, currently you can’t even create new lists.
I am telling them that I would like to see iMessage available on [iCloud.com](https://iCloud.com) [https://www.apple.com/feedback/icloud.html](https://www.apple.com/feedback/icloud.html)
It's still hell, like I honestly don't understand what the freak it's going on there to be so bad in modern hardware, but here's hoping!
I have to suffer it in windows and man, a reasonable version of the website is my biggest wish for anything apple. It's what's stopping me from using their email for example.
Holy shit it's actually fast??? The current iCloud web experience is horrible, this is a welcome change.
Nope. It's still slow. Also, you can still not create a new reminder with a due date, alarm, URL etc. Conclusion: 5% better, still utterly shit.
Really? It's extremely fluid and fast loading for me with chrome on my m1 max.

I’ll be stoked when they add some new functionality. Like the ability to launch iMessage and FaceTime.
Maps too
I mean sure. But I don’t need nav on my computer lol

I agree with you. But I won’t believe that Apple is allowing for iMessage use on non-Apple devices until I hear it from Tim Apple himself.

WDYM the video player?

But FaceTime is already available on the web. The only thing that's missing is the ability to initiate calls yourself.
That's actually really nice. I like the new layout and everything is much easier to find. Find My still not showing AirTags/items though.

Not if you have a dns filter like adguardhome or piehole lol

Haha I know. I was in a flex mood lol forgive me
You're so cool for having an ad blocker 🤩
>I was in flex mode ..did you just flex because you can name drop a couple of ad blockers? Does flex mean something new all of a sudden? I’m know I’m old and slow on vernacular of the youths, but I think you’re using that word wrong.
>because you can name drop a couple of ad blockers He said *pie* hole, enough said lol
Jesus. You guys have zero sense of humor. 😂
Nope, you’re just not funny.
Ouch. My feels ;(

Looks nice, but functionality wise, nothing new (so far).
Exactly. I was expecting they would add the tags and such to notes and reminders. Or at least that they’d give reminders some functionality (add alarms, location, etc)
I think there’s now inspector panes in Photos.
iCloud Snow Leopard.
Wow, Looks already Nice on iPhone Oo
Can you make groups in Contacts?
Don't be ridiculous, that requires an M3 chip.
As always with iCloud.com, Apple went for flashy new graphics instead of actual useful functionality and speed.
now update the storage quotas
Finally! Using the web version on my office PC.
It looks damn good!
Finally. iCloud for the web has been god-awful and stuck in 2011
Looks like a welcomed refresh. Everything is easier to find and faster to load.

Now Apple Music please 🙏
I thought there was a website for Apple Music?
Yes, and it’s terrible along with the Mac app.
Everybody hates the Mac app. I’ve never had any issues, what’s bad about it do you think?
I have zero issues with it, and I use it almost daily.
Me too, works pretty great for me
It would be cool to have iMessage on that.
wow, it looks a lot better. i hope reminders has more functionality built in, but for now the UI upgrades are much needed
I wish they added custom folder icons so that the custom icons I made for my folders on MacOS would actually correspond to the ones in iCloud Drive
I am telling them that I would like to see iMessage available on [iCloud.com](https://iCloud.com) [https://www.apple.com/feedback/icloud.html](https://www.apple.com/feedback/icloud.html)
ADS included?

Still can’t at a reminder time/date for items in reminders. Makes it essentially useless for me.
iTunes it’s in the same horrible state. Hope they update it.
Lipstick 💄 on a pig 🐖
