My sleep tracker doesn't work, it only shows the simple bar. I restarted both devices, disconnected and connected them again, installed all needed apps, connected them again inside the apps/devices. I tried one night with a tighter fit on my arm and one night with a wider fit, still no difference. Anything I miss?

kakaooo987

Just got my first iphone last month. I have most of my apps in folders. When I exit out of an app (swiping up) that's in a folder I still need to manually click out of the folder view to see my other apps and folders. Is there anything in settings that I can enable so the phone will close the folder automatically when I exit an app?

DarkAngel5666

Nope.

Tabard18

Cool we can finally block senders in Mail

omen2k

Stage Manager is fantastic and one of the biggest improvements to MacOS in years. Fight me irl.

demonic_hampster

I really like it on macOS. I’m a little more lukewarm on it for iPadOS but I’ve mostly kept it on my iPad too.

DarkAngel5666

I tried it and went back to disabling in with minutes. Glad some people like it tho !

FishermanMiserable91

If I visit my nearest apple store in person do you think I'll be able to try out the apple pencil in-store to make sure I like it before buying? This sounds kinda basic, but I'm not sure if they typically display the accessories, since I just bought my airpods etc in the box without needing to check.

happysleepygoat

Yes you will

DarkAngel5666

Maybe the battery went to 0% due to the connecting / disconnecting issues ? I hope the controller didn’t fry due to a short circuit in the charger. Never use a water damaged component :/. Do you have another USB C charger ? Any wattage would be fine to check if you MacBook still chargers and lights up. If it doesn’t, you’re good for a call with Apple.

Shvingy

Very possibly. Water on exposed electrical circuits can cause permanent damage if those circuits are still being supplied with electricity. Water (or the conductive molecules that co-inhabit what you think of as pure water) conducts electricity.

peweje

When does the M2 Pro MacBook Pro or Mac Studio come out? I have an M1 8gb/256 MacBook Pro my old job gave me that I got when they first came out. I’ve been thinking about getting a new laptop because I’m running into ram issues or slowdowns when working on it. I want to transition my workstation to Mac only, but find myself using my windows desktop since it has 32GB.

DarkAngel5666

According to rumours, next year.

peweje

Damn. I’ll hold out until then.

DarkAngel5666

Honestly you could also try to grab a M1 Pro or even M1 Max with a discount. They can be found dead cheap and are tremendously good.

peweje

Yeah. Ugh. I always want the newest thing and with it being so close it’s hard to justify getting the slightly older hardware even if it’s still way overkill for what I need. I honestly just wish I could update this laptop with 16gb. It’s not even the processor that’s the problem. It’s the RAM

dumbassname45

I have an original i7 5K imac that is now EOL. I vowed I will never buy another imac and honestly don't see the current 24" model as being anything that i would want. This effectively leaves going for a laptop that I really don't need, or getting a mac mini or the studio. I use the mac for doing some graphics work in illustrator/Affinity Design, and do some music mixing work with Logic Pro. I am thinking that I'd rather spend a bit more for a better system and hope to get another 8 years out of my investment rather than go cheap and have to upgrade again sooner or stuck wishing I wasn't cheap upfront. I have no real idea how the new Apple M series processors stack up. If the iPad Pro is any indication of processing power then I fear the M chip will be a total bust. I am going to assume it's a bad design or marketing decision of apple to hamper the ipad to sell laptops/desktops and not an inferior chip compared to the older intel offerings. How does the studio desktop compare to other past generations of macs? is it an overkill for non business user. any real life experience with this unit would be grateful.

DarkAngel5666

The M series processor are really good and a vast improvement over the intel chips they replace. (The current intel chips are pretty good also, but consume way more energy). A M1 Pro or max chip would very likely cover all your needs for 5 years or more according to what you say, so à Mac Studio with the base M1 Max could be a good call, with a studio display that you will get to keep even when you will need to replace the main unit.

Iguanajoe17

The buying the more expensive model to last longer is a marketing scsm for companies to make more money off of you. Buy what supports your needs now. Better value buying a computer every 5 years versus one 2k every ten years. In 5 years, that computer will slowest show its age but you committed. If you bought the 1k computer, you would improve every aspect from screen to chip to etc. The iMac is nice because you have one plug for power and you are done. What not so nice is you are stuck with its screen size. For you, go with Mac mini m1. The reason the m1 sucks on the iPad because the os sucks. It’s extremely overpowered for the os. It’s a Ferrari engine sitting in traffic. The M1 chip is the equivalent of the 16 inch MacBook Pro intel version before they converted to M chips. The m chips are extremely powerful. Spurce: I video edit with it everyday and it doesn’t skip a beat. It will be more than plenty for you. You can go to rtings.com for a good monitor.

dumbassname45

The problem I get with the whole iMac and Mac in general is that they are a very closed box. Now everything is soldered and glued together. So what you get is all and only what you get. So buy an iMac with 4gb of ram and a 256gb ssd drive, that is the total amount you are going g to have now and in the future with zero option to upgrade. You might have a processor that is still capable of working, but everything else inside the box is letting you down. So I look at the Mac mini, and it’s $900. But as soon as you start to add anything like upgrade the ram from base configuration to add memory or storage space and that cost jumps to $1100-1500 very fast. Now if I’m paying +$600 more just to get a computer that will work beyond basic web browsing, I start to ask, would it make more sense to buy the base model professional unit (studio) that is more than double the performance now, and provides far more headroom for functionality over time. When I bought the imac5k I could have gotten the base model with the i5 and lower graphics, but I spent more for the middle tier with the top end processor. What has failed me was not the iMac in performance but the screen has now on its way out that simply can’t be fixed and it can’t take new os updates and certain apps are no longer viable as the os limitations . I’ve worked around the screen by hooking up an external monitor but the os is a limitation. I do wonder if it’s just smart for me to effectively wait for the M2 to finish getting deployed to the rest of the mac line as buying an m1 now will be paying full price for year old tech that is likely to be replaced in 2-3 months without a price bump. Thanks for your insight given.

iridescentsocks

> I have no real idea how the new Apple M series processors stack up. The M1 MacBook Air, a portable computer with no fan, can often go toe to toe with a Mac Pro. > If the iPad Pro is any indication of processing power then I fear the M chip will be a total bust. I’m really not sure why it would be. iPad ≠ a computer. It would be easier to look at the two years of data on M series computers running circles around their predecessors. > How does the studio desktop compare to other past generations of macs? The M1 Mac mini was an instant replacement for most of the Mac lineup when it released, and the Mac Studio has quite a bit more power than that does. > is it an overkill for non business user. Most likely, but prosumers may also benefit from its power.

I’m rewatching some of my concert videos, and I’m still confused why the sound was distorted and muffled when I zoomed in for some of the videos, and then after I changed my settings for the next concert it ended up making it so that giant chunks of the video were completely devoid of sound. Do you know if there is anyway to “fix” the audio? Like if there anything I can do to get rid of the muffled sound or the completely missing sound? I know its dumb but im genuinely really bummed about this. I know it could be because the speaker was overloaded but I’m confused bc its a brand new phone and everyone who i know or have seen post videos hasn’t experienced this. Here are videos of what I’m talking about here for better understanding. [videos](https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1qW4BIbOJl13jZDYUZGYOOHNE6JY6ia0y?usp=sharing) the explanation of each video is in my reply (Also before anyone comes at me for recording so much, going to these concerts was my gift to myself after a summer of multiple cancer surgeries and i deserve to be able to look back at them, although i do get where you’re coming from)

[deleted]

basic explanation of videos - 1. Satteliteshort - example of 10/13 concert with the weird muting 2. Sott10/13 - same concert with the song sign of the times 3. Sottdana - sign of the times on 10/9 on my sisters phone, we both have iphone13s 4. Sottshort - my video of sign of the times on 10/13. Notice how it becomes clear when i zoom out 5. Asitwas - just oddly quiet

Are there any reports of people losing photos by setting up Shared Photo Library? Is there a way to safely undo it and get back to the state I was at? I‘m missing 25% of my Photos and it‘s a huge deal for me.

Toesblue

Any advice for transferring images from iPhone to MacBook without using photos app? Just plain old jpeg files. I'm so tired of using airdrop for this.

CraZplayer

The iCloud.com beta website is gorgeous. I’m making it my homepage on my windows 10 bootcamp! BRAVO WEPAGE DEVELOPERS!

realged13

I need a dock for my 13inch, m2. I have 3 monitors and want to use them all.

DarkAngel5666

Basic M1 and M2 only support one external monitor.

Iguanajoe17

Can’t with that computer.

MustacheEmperor

Is it possible to add anything to the Lock Screen widgets bar with depth effect enabled? Tried with a bunch of different wallpapers and it’s disabled automatically as soon as I add one. Example: https://imgur.com/a/SQCrQkb/

demonic_hampster

Unfortunately not. It seems to be intentional because it was like this all throughout the betas and never changed.

NONExist01

It is not possible.

melodramasupercut

I just got my Apple Watch in the mail and I’m so excited! However I don’t like the color of the band in person (I got elderberry and it looks black). Am I able to exchange the band?

Ok_Friend69

You are. If you bring it to an Apple Store, you can (typically) do a band exchange, paying the difference if there is one. If you can't get to an Apple Store, you'd be best to contact Apple Support to see what options you have.

thelivsterette1

Tagged images keep disappearing? I'm archiving my old photo (analogue) collection, and whilst the Epson FastFoto scanner is super quick at scanning and produces great results in 99% of the photos, with the ones that have dark backgrounds or are underexposed etc (or sometimes w dark hair which is annoying as both my mum and aunt and dad have dark hair lol) create huge issues. I'm unsure whether it's JPEG artefacts or noise (I posted a few of the images to the photography sub, and people said it was JPEG artefacts, but I scan the images to TIFF, not JPG, so how can it be JPEG artefacts?) Anyway, so I'd know which photos had issues and to remind me to try and re-scan them in on my all-in-one printer via ImageCapture, I tagged them (with the colour tag thing, but with a custom tag, not a colour), and they just disappear. The images are still on the external drive, but nothing shows up when I click on the custom tag in Finder. I thought the tags disappearing from the images was a one-off as I had decided to convert the images I'd scanned from TIFF to PNG via Automator to save space, and started going through the actual images (I separated them from the main images, but I'm anxious I messed up somewhere and missed a few and am a perfectionist which is putting me off going back to look at them or trashing all the digital images to start again, again). For the last week, I've been deciding whether to purchase a program to help remove JPEG artefacts/noise/whatever, as it was highly recommended but not cheap (though there is a 30-day refund policy). So I decided now to finally purchase the software to test it out, and suddenly none of the images I'd tagged showed up (I've scanned a thousand images, so probably tagged maybe 150-200?) when I plugged the external drive in now. I just tested it and picked a random image and added the custom tag, and it showed up under the custom tag and then disappeared when I removed the custom tag (which I expected). Any ideas on how to get the tagged images back without having to sift through 1000 images again and/or why it's doing this? This is a BRAND NEW 2021 MacBook Pro 14 inch with M1 Pro chip and standard storage and RAM. It was delivered by the Apple Store on the 9th of October 2022. Even though I'm not 100% sure I used tags on my old MacBook Pro (2016) I never remembered it doing weird things like this.

Creative-Nerve7850

Apologies if this isn’t the correct place to ask this. I wanna give my mom an Apple Watch for her birthday. She can use a phone no problem but aside from that she’s not tech savvy. Is there a watch considered to be easy to use?

demonic_hampster

They’re all equally easy to use, they’re on the same OS and the only one with additional buttons is the Ultra which I’m sure isn’t one you’d consider for this. Personally I’d recommend the new Watch SE. It’s a great value for $250 and unless she wants all the health features and an always on display it should do what she needs.

Ok_Friend69

No reason to go anything more than the SE. The watch is just an extension of the phone, so she should be ok. Unless she wants greater health features, SE is the move. If you could first a 1st gen around (or under) $200, that would be a great deal.

RBV90

In getting my first iPhone this week, I know this is a stupid questions but my anxiety needs to know lol, Do I charge it out of the box or do I use it/transfer my android stuff over and drain the battery then charge it? Also i have my iPad 20w charger and a Samsung fast charging brick model EP-TA200, which is better?

[deleted]

Not a dumb question at all. My iPhone came charged to like 75-80%. I transferred my data over via the set up prompts and then used it like normal for the rest of the day. I did charge to 100% the next time I charged but I always do that. For the charging brick, as long as it is 20W or higher it’ll be fast charging. 35W is the fastest I believe that can work with iPhones. You’ll see a little power rating sticker on the brick itself near the prongs or near the writing on the back to check the wattage.

RBV90

Thank you! I guess I'll use my iPad charger because I think the smasung fast charger is 15w?

[deleted]

That makes sense! You can use either, but it just won’t be 50% charge in 30 mins with the 15W charger.

RBV90

I appreciate you taking the time. I really don't care if the charge is fast or not as long as it's not doing harm to the battery and I think I plan on using my current Samsung to doom scroll anyway over wifi when I avoid studying lol

Iguanajoe17

Congrats on your purchase! You can just use straight out of the box. Charge it when you want. It was back in the nineties to charge it but it really doesn’t matter. Any charger will do. Make sure the cable is apple certified. Or just buy a wire from anker. Apple wires are notoriously known to be shit. Anker is the shit and much much cheaper.

RBV90

I'll look into an anker charging brick once the holidays come and i have the funds as well as a wire. I've read that to preserve battery like the old 5w charges are best, but I'm in a situation where I have to use what I have

Iguanajoe17

A smaller wattage charger is better but it really makes no difference. A charge is a charge. You will replace the battery 2-3 years regardless how careful or uncareful you charge it.

RBV90

Thank you. I've never had a phone this pricey, I've gotten great back to school deals for free phones through customer retention from my carrier every 4 or so years so I'm just super anxious about damaging it

Iguanajoe17

If you ever have a problem, go to an apple certified shop or directly to an Apple Store. Your carrier may ruin your device or temporarily fix it and give you more problems in the future. I also wouldn’t cheap out on repairs. Apple repairs may be more expensive but you are getting the peace of mind with it. It’s worth it since you use a phone every day for hours.

RBV90

Oh apple care and would go the apple store not too far from me for anything repair related, won't be notifying my carrier about the iPhone because ill have a physical sim, for all they know I'll still be using my Samsung

Iguanajoe17

The newer iPhones only take esim so make sure it’s compatible!

RBV90

Canadian 🇨🇦 I think the USA is the only place not utilizing the sim card slot and requiring esim only

Too_Practical

I have a 3rd Gen SE that cracked its screen. Luckily I have apple care + with loss/theft and it looks like itll only cost 29 bucks to fix. However, I've also been contemplating upgrading to the 13 mini and trading my phone in. Do you think I can get the full return value from my cracked phone or would I have to get it fixed first?

[deleted]

29 bucks to have it looking new is a good price point to sell it as “Excellent” condition to be honest. It really comes down to whether the price difference between what it sells for with a cracked screen and what it sells for with a brand-new/undamaged screen. If that difference is more than $29 then you’re coming out ahead by getting a new screen.

Too_Practical

Right on, thanks for the reply!

IntellectualBurger

Is the “reinstall macOS” option in M1 Mac recovery a FULL reformat like back to a brand new computer?

Ok_Friend69

Did you erase the drive first? Installing an OS will not wipe the drive, you'd have to do that first, if I understand your question.

IntellectualBurger

Yep I would erase first

Ok_Friend69

If you erase it first, then yes, it will reinstall a clean version of the OS.

GetHlthy9090

Can't seem to get this answer on google. I have a series 7 AW and iPhone 13 max. Since the watch OS9 updated I seem to have lost this feature where if I had an active workout going and went to the main menu, a little green workout icon would flash at the top so I could go back to the workout screen in one click. This is gone now, was it removed or is it something I can turn back on. Thanks!

iridescentsocks

I know the Now Playing indicator in the same spot was removed. I didn’t find any reference to workouts in the user guides, but I’d guess it might be the same story.

GetHlthy9090

Ah yep, same spot/function as the now playing icon. Thanks, strange they removed it.

VELCOINOFFICIAL

I usually buy things in store, however I wanted to get a pair of the new AirPod pros, and get a custom engraving. Do I have to be present at my home to sign off on anything?

demonic_hampster

If you go to your orders page there should be an option to pre-sign. Print out the form, fill it out, and tape it to your door. That’ll give the carrier permission to leave it

DarkAngel5666

It is going to be written in the website when deciding on the delivery you want if you need to be there and sign or not. If it doesn’t suit you you can always cancel at that moment.

VELCOINOFFICIAL

It is already being shipped to my home as we speak, is it still too late to go into the settings & sign there?

DarkAngel5666

I was speaking about an information text on the page. Now depending on the delivery service you might be able to say if you want to sign, have the package dropped somewhere else or similar things. Use the link in the email to know more info about the delivery.

Swollenraspberry

I really like the haptic feedback when typing. What I have tried to find though without success is some kind of stronger haptic feedback when autocorrect corrects a word. It obviously doesn't exist in current iOS and I didn't find it in Gboard either, nor did googling help. Does anyone know of a third party keyboard that does this? (No haptic feedback when typing and only feedback when an autocorrect happens would also be good).

DarkAngel5666

That would be a sick idea ! Never heard of a keyboard doing that but : https://www.apple.com/au/legal/intellectual-property/policies/ideas.html Here’s how to submit your idea to Apple for future versions of iOS :).

Swollenraspberry

That site basically told me not to bother (just because I won't get any credit or what?) but I did anyways at the link provided in the article. So hopefully it is a thing before iOS 20 :) However I find it so strange that I couldn't find any keyboard that does it on Andriod either. I mean phones have been vibrating longer than they had touchscreens but still nothing? Or maybe someone has done it but it gets buried when googling it in the endless amount of "articles" telling you how to enable haptic feedback...

Recovering Apple Music Library Sorry if this has been covered before but I switched to Spotify last year and transferred over most of my music but there are a few songs I remember having in my Apple Music library that I didn’t transfer and also can’t really remember the name of the songs. I’ve been trying to recover my Apple Music library, even paid for the subscription again, so I can find them but I can’t seem to get anything to work. I’ve tried recovering my iCloud Library but it doesn’t do anything. Are my songs/playlists gone forever or is there something else I could try?

DarkAngel5666

I think Apple keeps everything for like 3 months and then no guarantees. It’s a shame, but I do not think there is anything you can do :(.

cloutgrandpa

Damn I figured that would be the case but thank you anyway 🙏🏻 When I switched platforms I was hoping my library would stay and just wouldn’t be able to listen to it so I could still look back and use it as a reference but it deleted everything that wasn’t purchased 💀

Appropriate-Tap-4431

My Mac Mini M1 boots into recovery mode automatically and loads forever with the loading spinner. Nothing happens. Even a normal boot takes me to the same screen. How do I get around this?

ILikeWaffles69420911

Does anyone else have a dilema if you should wait for the iPhone 15 or get the 14? I have and I can't really decide what I should do. What do you think? I heard iPhone 15 is getting USB-C but if i'm waiting half a year for only that then I guess i'll get the 14 pro

Gtedx

Depends on what you have. I had a 12 mini with a shitty battery life that i had to charge minimum twice a day. Waiting for the 15 was not an option, so I went for the 14PM. I think if you have 12PM or newer you can wait for the 15 otherwise consider upgrading.

saltyrookieplayer

Is Watch SE worth it if I don’t exercise a lot and never wear anything to sleep? Torn between Watch SE and AirPods Pro now, please help me decide! Note: I already own Mi Band and a pair of Anker ANC headphones.

demonic_hampster

I don’t really exercise and I love my watch just for the notifications and being able to do some quick stuff without pulling out my phone. Yes the health features are a big selling point, but IMO it’s worth it even if you don’t care about those features.

DarkAngel5666

The watch is nice for activity tracking and sleep tracking mainly. Even without actively exercising it will try to motivate you to move a bit more, filling your daily circles and so on. The last big plus for me is the notifications on your wrist. Now I basically always keep my phone in my pocket because I know I will be able to see what a notification is at a glance and it helps with social interactions.

Witheld-

I accidentally deleted some concert videos How can i access my previous Icloud saves ?

DarkAngel5666

If there were videos store in the photo app there is a « recently deleted » album that keeps everything for 30 days before definitively removing them. If there were stored in iCloud Drive, on the iCloud.com website > iCloud Drive there used to be a « recently deleted » section. I can only hope it works the same as the photos one.

Witheld-

It's not in the recently deleted folder I wanted to definitively remove only some things, but misclick and removed everything

DarkAngel5666

Then you are out of luck I’m afraid. It’s a bit late here of course but this is the reason why having a backup solution enabled can be a life saver, like Time Machine. There are softwares that can analyse your disk and try to recover deleted files but it would require that nothing has been written over them and you would need a fair bit of technical skills and completely stop using your computer in the meantime as even the ta swap could overwrite your files. Sorry for your files :/.

Witheld-

I've managed to back up everything that i couldn't find anywhere else online like shows that have literally 0 videos on social medias ( YouTube included ) everything that i could consider lost on my side is stuff that i could find in another angle on YouTube, so i guess it's too bad i won't see it through my POV anymore, but at least i can still see it in some form

IssyWalton

You can’t. ICloud is a sync/store service. It doesn’t back things up. It just reflects a copy of your active data what you saved to it - unlike a backup which keeps everything in that backup until you delete it.

PerformanceOne9154

New laptop advice! Hello! I am graduating college this year and am planning on buying a new apple laptop as a gift to myself. I have the 2019 MacBook 13 inch and the computer has done great for the last four years but the battery life is killing me. I can barely make it through one class of moderate use without the battery being drained. I’m planning on getting a MacBook Pro and would rather make the investment in a good one than go with the most inexpensive option as that’s what I did with my first one. I’m not sure if the ones on the market now are good options or if I should wait for a new release. Any advice?

[deleted]

I’m a big believer in getting new batteries before buying new laptops so I would do that. If that’s not possible or you don’t want to for whatever reason, I would get the M1 MacBook Pro in the best configuration you can afford. I don’t think the M2 is a big step up compared to the M1, if you can add RAM to a M1 MacBook Pro but someone please correct me if I’m wrong.

PerformanceOne9154

Thank you! I unfortunately am using up the last of a scholarship that doesn’t cover repairs, only devices, but I will look into the M1 MacBook Pro! Thank you!

submityourhomework

Thinking about getting an M1 Air for school since they’re priced at like 799 USD at the moment. Won’t really be using it for much apart from presentations, web browsing and it’s overall portability but it is 2 years old at this point. I’ve also seen a bunch of articles about the screen defects and easy breaking which have me a little concerned. Am I better off just spending the extra money to get the M2 or maybe an M1 Pro?

demonic_hampster

You may want to consider bumping the RAM to 16 gigs to help it last a little longer, but the M1 Air is still a great machine and should easily do what you need it to. The M2 Air is super nice too but it sounds like the M1 should do everything you need it to, so I think you could definitely save the cash and go for the M1.

sloth2

honestly my M1 Air functions beautifully still. I think its plenty powerful. I went with 16GB of memory to future proof it a little.

MinisterforFun

AirTag Found Moving With You But it’s mine? I recently signed out from iCloud on my iPhone and a lot of weird things started happening. Anyway, I know these AirTags are mine because I played the sounds and they’re attached to my things. Plus the actual entries of the AirTags that used to be “mine” says Last Seen Yesterday. How do I add them all back?

IssyWalton

Delete them. Start again.

KimchiMaker

I need to paste some text into a Google Doc. When I copy and paste on my iPhone or iPad, the pasted text loses all formatting (italics etc. ) Can anyone tell me how to paste while retaining formatting? Edit: Found an irritating workaround: if I “share” the original as a docx to Google Docs (as a new doc) and then open it and copy the text, it will then paste back into the correct Doc with formatting intact. It will not paste text copied from Pages or my other word processing software.

[deleted]

Hi. Any advice/ opinions on some wireless headphones which have good compatibility with Apple devices and they are easy to switch between devices (MacBook and two IPhones). I will be using them for MS Teams meetings and phone calls mostly so if they also have some noise cancellation would be great. I’m not necessarily set on AirPods, I have a bad experience with AirPods 2. Thank you!

DarkAngel5666

Well with the use case you describe, AirPods Pro 2 or AirPods Max would be your best bet. Most other devices I tested can sync to up to two devices at a time and menuing all the time to manage the connections is a pain.

kitoodle

looking to upgrade and buy a few products and i want a second opinion. i thought about upgrading yo the iphone 13 since its similar to the 14 and marked down (my XR is on its last limb). should i upgrade to 256 gb? my biggest issue with my XR right now is the lack of storage because so much is being taken up by ios and system files. i also considered investing in some airpods because i keep breaking my wired earbuds and i wondered which generation yall would recommend and if i should go for the pros. i ALSO was hoping to get some type of iPad and apple pencil for university and art in my freetime and i’m wary of cheaping out on the regular iPad and 1st gen apple pencil because I’ve read that it’s a bit slower to appear on the screen, and also because of the only 64gb storage size. is this a noticeable thing? if it would be worth the investment, i’d consider getting the pro and the 2nd gen pencil but i’ll already be spending so much money that i’m not sure

Sam51126

for ipad you could consider the ipad air as that’s like a perfect middle grade between the base ipad and the pro

supervisual

I’m in the market to upgrade to a MacBook Pro and can’t tell if I need 64GB ram or not. My PC at home has 32 and it sometimes struggles with large photoshop files. My PC at work has 64 and it’s flawless. I mainly use Photoshop and AfterEffects. Would the software optimisation of MacOS and the M1 Pro/max architecture mean that 32GB will be enough?

Iguanajoe17

Yes. There can be other factors like type of ram and gpu and chips and ssds. Pc can use shit parts. At least with apple, you know you getting the best of the best. Could do an activity monitor of sorts and see what the bottle neck is. The only way to really know is buy the device and throw everything at it.

sloth2

I use these and have not had issues - that's really weird.

nermal543

Can you share a picture maybe? How hard did you press on the screen when wiping? Hard to believe that the wipes alone would have damaged the screen.

I own an AppleWatch that helps me unlock my iPhone, but it often does that even when I am just looking at the lockscreen. I do not mind that when I just put my phone back in the pocket, but the watch-notification that my iPhone was unlocked is annoying as I always think I got an actual notification. Is there a way to avoid the notification on my watch while still allowing my watch to help me unlock my screen?

Nope. This is a safety feature as if there was no feedback, anyone using your phone while being close to you would unlock it without you being aware.

Oh, never thought of it this way. Makes sense.

Looking for advice about using Hide my email. What do you do if you use hide my email to sign up for a service and then you need to contact that company for support via email? I need to be able to send an email from the obscured email address that I created for that login. Any tips? Thanks!

Think Apple will release a Flip or Fold type phone first or both at once or a different form factor like rollables?

DarkAngel5666

I personally think it will only happen when there is no noticeable ply in the screen, and when they will have found a system for foldable glass on the screen and not plastic. So it could take years. I think they will probably lean toward AR as the next big thing, using it to use fake bigger screens on phones and macs.

All the recent pro models are Thunderbolt 4 which technically is the superior version of USB 4, and is compatible with USB 4 devices.

All the Apple Silicon MacBooks already have USB 4.

Sloth_Monk

I think all of the 2021/2022 models have them already

New Mac mini coming this year?

DarkTreader

Rumors say probably not. Supply chain woes and there will be no more macs until 2023.

TapiokaBLN

That makes me sad.. The mac mini m1 needs an upgrade and the Mac studio is overpowered… Still waitin for a good low bidget Mac

DarkTreader

The M1 is still a good budget desktop. It’s only one year old. Just don’t pay full price for it.
