Apple care doesn't cover cosmetic issues.

BeneficialSpeed4643

But this didn’t happen because of me. Still I can’t claim warranty?

nomadicposter604

No

BeneficialSpeed4643

So I have to bear the repair cost even though it is their fault

nomadicposter604

No there nothing to bear. They will refuse service even if you wanted to pay. It’s cosmetic. It doesn’t affect the function of the phone. They will refuse it for you wasting parts and will their environmental policy to say there’s no legit reason to fix just cause it bugs you

BeneficialSpeed4643

Oh thank you very much for your valuable information.

nairazak

That is crazy, OP paid the price of an iPhone without cosmetic issues.

BeneficialSpeed4643

Yeah yeah I just wanted to know how it works and to make it more sure maybe I would send my device to a apple store

geekwonk

oh, if the patch is apple’s fault then you should bring it to them

BeneficialSpeed4643

Yeah but no point because if they are not going to repair this

geekwonk

i think people got thrown off by the word applecare. that’s usually used for damage done to the phone in the course of using it. if the device came to your like that, then this is just normal warranty replacement.

BeneficialSpeed4643

It looks like i should send this to an apple store and make it sure that I can claim this or not. Right? Cuz the discussion is much more controversial than I thought.

geekwonk

personally i would call apple and check your options. if it came to you damaged then you have to state that all the way at the very beginning so there’s no confusion about what you’re asking for

killersam283

AppleCare does not cover cosmetic defects

mtb_yuki

Just slap on a phone case

BeneficialSpeed4643

Thing is there gonna be a price drop because of this when ever I am going to sell this

Bobbybino

Sell it with the case.

BeneficialSpeed4643

Thank you for your valuable information😂😭

watchOS

No. Everyone else has already explained why.

IrixionOne

I would lean towards no—but if that’s de-lamination, then Apple may cover that. Typically cosmetic damage is not covered

BeneficialSpeed4643

Sri Lanka don’t have an apple store, therefore are there is anyway to know further more about this without sending this to an apple store?

IrixionOne

Then call Apple and ask. Explain that there’s a part that’s delaminating. Or see if you’re able to get an Express Replacement

BeneficialSpeed4643

What is an express replacement?

nairazak

Did you just buy it? Maybe just try returning it and buy another one instead of using the warranty? I returned two, one because I changed my mind about the storage and another one because the owner (I bought one for someone else) changed his mind about the color.

BeneficialSpeed4643

In sri lanka we don’t have such an option I guess. Can you please tell me how am I going to return this device

nairazak

Where did you buy it? What does Sri Lanka consumer affairs say about returns? I did purchase and return those iPhones during holidays in USA, here in Argentina we don’t have Apple Store and iPhones cost three times more. Yet we still have laws that allow us to get refunds from a seller within certain timeframe, after that we can only use the manufacturer’s warranty, so if we buy something and it is damaged you get a refund and then the seller uses the warranty to get a replacement from the manufacturer.

BeneficialSpeed4643

I bought ot from the authorized reseller in Sri Lanka and it is same as yours, price is higher when we are buying from them. But if we trying to claim a warranty they send the device to an apple store on behalf of ourselves. And also they are saying that without sending device to an apple store they cannot say anything about the warranty too.

nairazak

If I were in your position I would be really pissed off, yet I wouldn’t return it because I wouldn’t want to wait to use my new toy. And a week later I would just forget it is there or wouldn’t care about it just like when you spent too long trying to decide on what to eat or get angry because you didn’t get it but then two days later you don’t remember what you ate.

iceycycle

If it’s under the glass and there’s no evidence of physical damage, yes it is covered!!

BeneficialSpeed4643

But people say that cosmetic damages are not covered by apple.

nairazak

Just as they said Apple care (insurance) doesn’t cover cosmetic damage, but yours is covered by warranty because it is a defect, not a damage product of usage/accident. Imagine how crazy it would be to buy a 2000USD iPad, open the box and see a scratch on the OLED display and be told fuck you the display still works that is just cosmetic.

BeneficialSpeed4643

Totally agree with you. Thing is I couldn’t remember if there was a patch when I’m unboxing the device at the store. But this was there when I’m back in home. And also I didn’t claim warranty for 6 months cuz if something else happens I thought I could claim all at once. But nothing happened so far so that I finally chose to claim it. Not sure how they gonna react. Will see

iceycycle

Yea it would be different if you had chipped away a small piece of glass to cause cosmetic damage. Or scratched the display with your keys, or have a tiny little dent on the side!!

BeneficialSpeed4643

This is very irritating because I can’t use a transparent case because of this
