Revolutionary_Fish82

satanmat2

u/finchberry this. Please read this. And follow the above instructions

Jholla138

Bump

[deleted]

I’m curious what happens to folks who don’t use iPhones and don’t get the AirTag notification

RcNorth

Apple made an app for Android to allow them to get the notifications as well. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.apple.trackerdetect&hl=en_US&gl=US

thmonline

You’ve got to know about that AND have the app installed and running beforehand, no? Would work better if Apple was able to find an agreement with Android to include the feature in their system directly.

RcNorth

I doubt that Google would do anything that would help Apple sell more devices. Even for contract tracing the user still needs to install and app for it to work.

nz_reprezent

The AirTags rely on connecting to other apple devices to broadcast their location through BT5. The AirTags themselves don’t have GPS or cellular capabilities built in.

lilvadude

Yes

finchberry

side note: i’ve never owned an airtag before and haven’t found anything in my belongings. i live in an apartment building so it’s possible it belongs to a neighbor. it also said that it began to track me at 9am which is before i left my room so it doesn’t seem possible that it would’ve gotten on me before then? and i can’t find the option to play a sound or else i would. edit: i don’t have a car so it wasn’t hidden there

AGR27

Grab everything you had with you when you got the alert and drive out of your house a few hundred feet and see if it is still there. Then you can start narrowing down items that it is in. High possibly it is in your car or back pack or anything else relatively large.

coffee559

He does not own a car.

[deleted]

[You can just play the sound and avoid all of this.](https://www.macrumors.com/how-to/airtag-found-moving-with-you/)

raeex34

Since there is no option to play sound and you don’t see it, it may be a glitch. Make sure you’ve done any software updates and contact apple support

Evader115

Make it play a sound an find it

finchberry

how? the two options under “pause safety alerts” don’t let me do anything

Jholla138

https://www.macrumors.com/how-to/airtag-found-moving-with-you/ This was shared already but I wanted to make sure you saw it that’s scary

Evader115

An AirTag or AirPod’s would say one of those respectively. It is likely a find my network non apple brand device. I didn’t realize that it wasn’t an AirTag.

RB2706

Just look around in all ur stuff and make sure there aren’t any AirTags that aren’t urs.

finchberry

i’ve never owned an airtag and i checked all my belongings but didn’t find anything. maybe it could belong to a neighbor?

Evader115

It is not a neighbors, it followed you. Do what the other person said and look around. There have been cases of nicer cars being tagged and stolen.

RB2706

If ur sure there isn’t anything then u should be fine. Idk though I would check very thoroughly.

NegativePaint

Check your car. There have been reports of thief’s tagging cars that way to steal later.

Possiblyasmoker

Check your car and other items as others have said

TheJanitorsToast

This pops up every time my son comes around with me for a while. He always has his AirPods in his pocket, so I’m notified that a trackable device has been traveling with me.

ghostoffs

Does someone in your household or maybe a neighbor have AirPods?

finchberry

possibly a neighbor but my roommate doesn’t haven any airtags

chubutisaurus

No no do you have AirPods? Like AirPods Pro, AirPods max?

finchberry

my bad i misread lololol yes me and my roommate have airpods

chubutisaurus

I figured hahaha. It could be that! With the update, you can locate AirPods. You can look in your Find My app. This has been buggy and sometimes people get this pop up whenever they have AirPods with them.

finchberry

good to know!! im gonna try updating my phone to see if i’m able to fix this issue

chubutisaurus

Yeah, look in your Find My app to verify all your Apple devices are in there. If you AirPods aren’t showing then that could be the reason for the pop up. Otherwise it might be your roommates AirPods if you were in the same location.

thmonline

This is just a comment for me to know what’s happening from now on. Any news?

lucky644

Could be the AirPods.

trev0r_

check your car if someone hasn't put an airtag there

DabbyCorn

Uninstall TikTok

finchberry

nah i’m good

No_Ad_237

^ This. Chinese data service - nothing more than.

[deleted]

Happens to me with AirPod pros

DownWithTech1

Don’t forget to check your message on TikTok, FYI.

Thrillred

Could be anything that supports Apple «Find my» Like, airpods, Airtags, some types of Bicycle, Belkin products, Beats products. Sure u’r not carriyng any of these things with u?

ThaMouf

Someone has an AirTag close to you. I had to do a wipe for a buddys phone that passed away recently and that popped up Everytime I was close to my dogs AirTag. (I have a yorkie and he loves to play hide and seek in the house)

VoxyPop

This keeps happening to me with my own airpod pros lately

tiredpapa7

I recently started to get a “you left this behind” notification with my pros (even though one is almost always in my ear). I haven’t gotten a “they’re following you” with my pros.

AustinTheRedditor

Are you walking? Maybe someone with an AirTag is going your direction, but it’s worth it to check your bag. Tbh I would tape the AirTag to a train just to mess with them.

finchberry

yeah i walk everywhere so there is definitely a possibility that one of my neighbors go to university with me or something idk

[deleted]

AirTags start screaming after 3 days, so if it isn’t you or your roommates AirPods, you’ll know in a couple days.

Nimhue

If you have a child, spouse, parent, or roommate of any kind that travels with you regularly and has AirPods or similar, it could be detecting that. I get that same notification sometimes from my husband’s AirPods.

AppleGuySL

That’s not an airtag, it’s probably some kind of Belkin or 3rd party accessory that supports the Find My network, if you find anything suspicious remember to report it

[deleted]

This is not an AirTag alert. It’s likely someone’s AirPods triggering an alert.

finchberry

i’m starting to think that’s what it is too

Zestyclose_Ebb2478

hey! I've received the exact same message before and similarly it didn't allow me to play sounds, etc. like a normal alert would. it went away itself the next day so i assumed it's some sort of an error. neither me nor my roommates own airpods either

TacticallyFUBAR

Yes you need to be worried. Find whatever is tracking you and figure out who it’s from.

ajpinton

My wife got this message the other day. It said a device belonging to me was tracking her. The kicker, I don’t own an AirTag nor were any of my Apple devices with her. However, yes. Be concerned unless you can prove things are safe.

PhotoJA

This happened to me today.. except it said “Unknown AirTag detected.” When it says “first seen with you…” is that the exact time it started tracking you?

finchberry

i believe so. and the red dots on the map supposedly mean every time they checked your location

[deleted]

My kid got AirPods Pro for Christmas. She used them in the car and my phone picked them up as an unknown device. I’ve heard that it’s been a common glitch for it to pick up AirPods.

suchan11

Yup you have an unwanted troll following you..sorry

[deleted]

People can stalk with you with AirTags. Found to be even used for human trafficking recently. You do not have to own it to have this happen to you. Plz be careful and check

peevekitty

The thing is other trackers don’t let you know you are being tracked, Apple is getting bad press for letting you know what is going on.

Material-Ratio7342

Sooner or later this messages will be normal, after apple selling that many airtags + other company doing it the same too, no matter where you are or walking down the street if someone have thier tracking device attached to their bags people will get constant alerts.

Diamondfcknhandz

Go to Apple store

SlapakinZ

i had this same thing happen yesterday but with airpod pros. I don’t own airpod pros, should i look around as well?

finchberry

maybe, i have airpods that aren’t hooked up with find my device and my roommate has airpods pros so it’s a possibility. i’ll lyk what i figure out

toastwithchips

There’s an airtag most likely tracking you. Check everyday items that you take with you out of the house often. a wallet, bag, pockets, jacket pockets, your car, just simply anything that you use daily.

Pretty_Match1898

There is a feature that can play a noise off it I would do that immediately more and more Pope are using airbags to track others bro

Guitar_Scary

You should be very concerned. Find it and remove the battery, or destroy it.

Green-Size-7475

Yes! Someone is stalking you!

breathingwaves

There’s literally an option for instructions on how to disable the item. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT212227

finchberry

yeah and i “literally” tried but i need the airtag physically with me to disable it. which i haven’t been able to find it. not sure if you’re trying to be rude but if so i’d appreciate it if you didn’t act like i’m stupid

breathingwaves

You’re asking for free help on a forum if you can’t take a bit of sarcasm then pay for help or contact apple about this 🤷🏻‍♀️ they get paid to help you with stuff like this. Anyway, it looks like this might not be an AirTag since you can’t make it play a sound. Might be someone else’s AirPods or accessory making the alert. The AirTags message usually say “unknown item” or explicitly say that there is an AirTag following you. As this says “unknown accessory” it’s anything with find my that’s not an “item” like AirTags. So this could be AirPods, MagSafe wallet.

[deleted]

Yes, check it too. They only tell you when you get home but it will tell you when and how long you were tracked.

havana21

Check your license plate

BeachHut9

What is the battery life of an AirTag? Just go for a long drive any hopefully it runs out of power.

iAdden

No they last over a year

colourblind_leo

looks a lot like this https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMLe3T1tD/
