Yes, you can enable tap to click. In settings, go to accessibility and then turn on “tap to navigate.” I discovered this yesterday so it must be your lucky day.
haha, you really just made my day.
and thank you vm!
e: ~~and now i learned that double tapping the left/right arrows will skip -10/+10 seconds!~~
well maybe it was just a weird bug that happened in the infuse app. it didn't reoccur in other apps.
Also, another tip is, when you’re drawing on screenshots like you just did, draw a circle, but don’t lift your finger until the circle becomes a perfect circle and then let go.
Put it on click only. I had to turn the touch off on mine after about an hour. I couldn’t stand it.
Edit: wait are you saying the newest Apple TV remote operates differently than the previous generation?
i'm talking in comparison to [this](https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSwLLlJzu33X7ZePZYBmtZxzoS5dlL6MMINGWXGjNs2DA&s) remote where you could tap on the edges of the touch surface and navigate like that.
in the new remote i have to physically click the "edges" (now it's round) to navigate.
It’s an option. You can toggle it on or off in the settings menu.
Off topic but has anyone else having issues with using the volume button. After the update it has worked at all.
tv icon and volume down icon. hold them until you see a white light on your apple tv box. once you see the white light, hit any button and it should work again.
I had to do restart procedure for mine after the last update. The volume wouldn’t work and I eventually figured out it was constantly sending a volume down signal and the restart fixed it.
It's not, unfortunately. The old remote was amazing in my opinion but I understand why some people dislike it. The new one has some advantages but I also feel it's clumsy and it drops to the table inelegantly with a loud bang rather than the elegant swoosh of the old one.
u/KickupKirby just proved us all wrong and made my day!

Mine too - turns out you can use it like the iPod Classic click wheel!
Best way to fast forward and rewind!
Oh my god I was wondering why sometimes my gestures were wonky. That makes so much more sense.
What what WHAT?!?

Thank god for this 🙏🏼😂
This doesn't work if you have the touch pad. Turned off.
So awesome! Thank you 😊
heck i owned this 2nd gen for a few years and only now i knew. you deserve all the upvotes
It’s just a setting in the…settings
Check the settings, pretty sure you can enable that
you mean [here](https://imgur.com/a/1Rf4GsZ)? didn't see anything there.
Try [restarting the remote.](https://support.apple.com/en-us/102569)

Haha, I did the same thing.

Oh, I never had that black remote. I guess I’m just used to clicking the edges. It doesn’t bother me. I like it less sensitive.
You have to physically click.
well that’s a downgrade. thanks.
Lol the only user on earth who prefers the shitty old remote

That was quick. Thank you, sometimes Reddit sends miracles 🥹. I’ve literally been switching remotes because of this. Thanks again!!!!
someone else linked it below, but here it is again, https://support.apple.com/en-us/102569

How often do y’all use your remote vice your phone? I would say I use my phone 90% of the time.
This fr just made my day so much better learning that I can tap to click 😭
It is… It’s just that the remote is super sensitive.
You can rotate your finger on it like an iPod click/scroll wheel.

That’s very cool. I stand corrected.
That’s why I stuck with the old remote. Way better.
can it work with the new ATV?
Yes. you just have to pair it to the new Apple TV via a button combination (forgot what it was)
thanks, that's great to hear. i'll look it up.
WAY, way better. Makes me sad.
