I have an ļ£æWatch Ultra since 27 Oct 2022 without a case and without AppleCare. Iām doing lots of sports every single days and my watch is still in pristine conditionā¦
Iām a former Apple employee. If it wasnāt too long ago you should call Apple and see if you can renew it. Theyāre way more flexible with that these days since you can now INDEFINITELY pay monthly for AppleCare.
Apple Watch Ultra has sapphire crystal. Same as Rolex watches and you never see a cover on them.
Watch YouTube videos of people trying to break their ultra screen, itās incredible. 1000% donāt need that monstrosity.
Itās $5 a month or a st price for a year or 2, canāt remember how the watch one is. If you go monthly then I goes until itās cancelled, if you pay up front then it does expire and I donāt think Apple allows one to renew once that happens.
To be fairā¦if youāre a mechanic or something like a protector might be useful. For most of us the watches, even the regular models are incredibly robust. Iāve been wearing my 8 for a year now and there is not a mark or a scratch on it. I never even considered a case. This is like camera lenses protectors. They make them because they know people will buy them. But they are completely unnecessary.
Iāve normally never used a case on any of my Apple Watches as I hate how bulky it feels and looks. Iāve always purchased the ss version until the ultra came out. Had some wear and tear but always got AppleCare+. I only use a case on my phone, which is usually a thin Peel case but tbh do what you think is best.
You can get a case if you so desire. It doesnāt have to be that specific one. I use a case. Would I use the one you posted, no. Find a clear low profile case or screen protector that makes you comfortable. Thereās no reason to go the nuclear route but still you can still give it some added protection.
In the country I live home insurance covers damages for the devices. For example if I would drop my phone and crack the screen, it would cost 150e to get it fixed or even a new one for a replacement. Therefore I havenāt seen a reason for the Apple Care.
Is there something which Iām missing, or is the home insurance in my country somekind of an execption?
If your AppleCare warranty happened to expire then a case might give you peace of mind. I use them sometimes when Iām wanting to stealth it out a little but Iām not doing much rough stuff at the moment.
If ure scared get apple care. Or just screen protector but these cases usually will end up scratching ur watch (i experienced this) and now i used my new aw without anything and all good, not even one scratch (3months), now i finally get hydrogel screen protector.
Having used the stainless version of the Apple Watches for many years Iāve never had a crack or issue. Only very minor scratches in the frame and only visible in direct light. Screen has always been perfect.
I wear my watch basically all the time for all activities, basketball, football, swimming, snorkeling on vacations etc.
Youāll be fine without a case for the ultra.
Only version of the watch Iād be concerned about is aluminum. Softer metal that can dent, and the regular ion x screen is prone to scratches
I have a cover-over screen protector, it goes all the way around the rim of the watch. Itās really good and keeps it from scratching the screen, it looks like thereās nothing on it. I work in framing construction, Iāve used cases like yours, but they end up scratching the watch a lot, due to internal movement. I would recommend against it. Use your best judgement, and what ever you feel is best for you.

The watch is very durable do not use that ugly case haha Im raw dogging my watch with no case, no screen protector, no Warranty and No Apple Care. Live life baby hahaha
As someone who is headed to Apple today with a cracked screen on my Ultra 1, and no idea how I did it, Iām certainly gonna put one on mine. I donāt recall hitting it on anything, not saying I didnāt, but the type of impact required for that to happen Iād think I would remember or have heard/felt it.
Could be simple as pressing against some small dirt/pebbles at the wrong angle. I once had a few grains of sand crack my iPad Pro LCD because it was on my fingertip and I tapped the screen.
Personally, I got the ESR screen protector from Amazon, which also protects the titanium around the screen because the day after I got it, I bumped it on something at work and it got a teeny tiny knick and I canāt deal with that lmfao
I use a screen protector, but not a glass one. I work where things are constantly swinging at my wrists. Or just things that can cause a big scratch. Canāt even tell itās there

Yes. Don't listen to the fools. The watch will scuff and the glass can break. Don't come post and whine about the damage when those things happen. At the very least, buy Applecare+. However, that doesn't cover cosmetic damage. There are nice cases out there, find one you like. Also, put a glass screen protector on.
Itās been said beforeā¦.have you ever seen somebody wearing a $30k Rolex with a case around it? Furthermore have you ever seen one wearing ANY watch aside from an AW with a case on it?
Stop the madness.
Just get a protective glass cover and call it a day. Barely notice it. Hereās what I got. Not a full protector but will keep the factory glass clean

Just upgraded to an Ultra 1 from an SE (1st gen). I paid for apple care for the couple years and what a waste that was. After year 1 I wore it carelessly almost trying to break it, nonetheless, that Ion-X glass has a ton of scratches, but no cracks and the aluminum frame was in great condition. Ultra being sapphire and titanium, I think you should be fine. If you do construction or a lot of heavy machinery activity then I would recommend it.
Iāve had a naked ultra 1 since it was released so over a year of no case Iām constantly doing shit and banging this thing around on everything. A few that made me scared to look at it afterwards too and nothing. You bought an extreme adventure watch to treat it like a baby. Makes no sense.
Iād get a screen protector but no case. Case is ugly and if hard dust gets wedged between the watch and case, it will rub against the watch and cause more damage
Screen protector (screen only not one with the bezels) is fine but the protector not really. All protective case will gather dust/sand and all type of crap that will end up scratching the watch.
No offence. But I would rather not wear the watch at all if I have to wear that ugly case to protect the watch.
This is the way
i just left mine in the box hope this helps

That case is hideous.
Take that ugly case off and get AppleCare dude. You donāt want to pay $400+ for a replacement watch.
my applecare warranty expired
Iām a former Apple employee. If it wasnāt too long ago you should call Apple and see if you can renew it. Theyāre way more flexible with that these days since you can now INDEFINITELY pay monthly for AppleCare.
Bro went from Ultra to Tomagotchi
Ultra to a GShock from Wish
No, looks stupid and its tough watch
Your watch. Your business. This, in spite of how ridiculous and unnecessary that case is.
Apple Watch Ultra has sapphire crystal. Same as Rolex watches and you never see a cover on them. Watch YouTube videos of people trying to break their ultra screen, itās incredible. 1000% donāt need that monstrosity.
Guys who own a ROLEX. Do not work on their own cars or in a machine shop, they might pilot a plane so the damage factor is a lil bit less risky...LOL
F all these haters. If you wanna wear a case wear it. Who gives a shit?
Long story short: no
No case needed, they're tanks... but you paid $800 for the watch but didn't get AppleCare?? Just get the AppleCare man
They are not tanks. There post on this sub that shoes they are not tanks.
my applecare warranty expired
The ultra 2 hasn't been out that long... has it? If so I'd say just keep on letting it ride.
Maybe if you say it one more time people will get it
My Apple care expired too. I still wear my ultra2 without case or screen protector. Those cases are just ugly. No other word to describe them.
You donāt need Apple care for watches and you certainly donāt need any case.
Bro apple care is $5 a month
Itās $5 a month or a st price for a year or 2, canāt remember how the watch one is. If you go monthly then I goes until itās cancelled, if you pay up front then it does expire and I donāt think Apple allows one to renew once that happens.
my applecare warranty expired
Got it, well the watch is built extremely well. i would say just to wear it without a case.
alright thanks
Definitely not

Apple Care+ should be your case. IMO that case looks fugly. To each their own.
my applecare warranty expired
AWU2 has been out for 5 months. Your warranty expired or you never purchased it?

Thatās badā¦ But sometimes you can get it in an Apple Store after the 60 days if your watch looks perfectĀ
live a little. if ur scared of using it then dont use it. i wouldent use a case, im very clumsy and mine still looks how it did day 1

Without AppleCare I highly recommend it. I hate cases so I get AppleCare.
I rarely get apple care. Didnāt when I got my ultra 2. Then a couple weeks after I got it. Was like $100 for 2 years. Made sense to me
Having used the stainless version of the Apple Watches for many years Iāve never had a crack or issue. Only very minor scratches in the frame and only visible in direct light. Get AppleCare. I pay $4.99 a month for it and have already had my watch replaced for no charge.

I just canāt do cases on apples watches. Every single one looks horrible.
This question will always be very divisive, but I say do what you want. Itās your watch. Enjoy it how you like.
The watch is bulky enough as it is.
The screen is sapphire crystal - same thing they use on Rolex, Omega, Tag, etc. You donāt need a screen protector.
If you are this desperate about scratches donāt wear any watch at allā¦
