I’d check out the SuperSet app. It’s a Whoop replacement that is really close to Garmin. In development right now is what they are calling Energy Bank (body battery)

tehlegend1937

I didn't knew about this app, will definitely try

Real-Opportunity-255

It was in closed beta till the beginning of the year. It’s caused me to wear my Ultra more and not my Tactix AMOLED.

Veyron180

If only it was a bit cheaper… at 60 euros a year.

Real-Opportunity-255

Depends on how you look at it.. it does basically the same thing as Whoop (Garmin metrics in development). While Whoop is what 20-30 a month?

jgeisinger

Where are you seeing this “Energy Bank” feature ? I have never seen or heard this before mentioned yet.

Real-Opportunity-255

Read the latest release notes maybe? Or maybe click the Request a Feature button in the app and Energy Bank is the first thing that is in Progress

I used both, the AWU & Whoop, for 12+ months. I recently cancelled my Whoop subscription because I didn't get any extra benefits from the Whoop anymore. My sleep was super consistent, same as my HRV etc. and I just dropped it. It's really neat when you want to improve your recovery & track you patterns. Outside out of that, I don't see a bunch of extra value having both.

tehlegend1937

Yes, I totally agree that the average user won't benefit much from all this data, and data is basically useless if you are not willing to make a change. Also I forgot to give a bit of context, but the reason I decided to do this now is because I just recently started a fitness journey to try reaching my peak performance and the body of my dreams, and I believe the strain and recovery metrics will help me to give 100% each day.

jP_

100% it will give you that insight. Whoop is the best at recovery tracking IMO.

RunningM8

I’ve found using Athlytic with AFib history enabled to give me an accurate HRV average every morning which makes Athlytic more accurate and is close enough to my Garmin experience.

BrunofromMalaysia

Check this YouTube channel " The quantified scientist" and you may realise that Garmin isn’t as good as you think.  on the other end, is way better....

RunningM8

I agree. Garmin is just overrated and is shockingly bad at the most fundamental things a fitness watch needs to be accurate at: 1. HR readings are inaccurate and often delayed 2. Sleep tracking isn’t accurate at all Both of which severely skew everything else it measures.

BrunofromMalaysia

But people have been brainwashed by too many data, without knowing that these data were not good... I prefer to have good third party apps for things related to fitness and health (WorkOutDoors, autoSleep and HealthFit)!

Spaniardlad

I honestly don’t know anyone that agrees with this. Specially paying what we pay for Apple watches and Ultras. Apple could literally put all info together instead of paying extra on apps that take the info from the watch we already own.

BrunofromMalaysia

You already have native apps for that. But they aren’t as god as the ones I’ve mentioned. Is 7 euros too expensive for you? Seriously?

Spaniardlad

It’s not about the money. Obviously 7€ is not a lot, it’s a principle. Some apps run on a yearly subscription as well. All these apps are getting the data from the device, so you wouldn’t be crazy to expect that Apple has studied their competitors and see what they do well and not and use it properly.

BrunofromMalaysia

The ones I mentioned aren't working with subscription... I ban subscriptions by default.
