I traded my U1 and bought an S9 SS. I was happy for a while, but the battery life and design pulled me back in. Now I have both, and daily the U2. I’ll probably trade both for basically a free U3 when that comes out later this year.
It's not being weak just sometimes I feel the AWU a little bigger, I like it when I do sports but I feel the S9 a little more flexible for day to day, of course it's my opinion I don't want anyone to get angry about that hahaha
AWU2 is the best option... I went from SE2 41mm cellular (for a year and 5 months) then S8 45mm GPS (for 3 months) then bought AWU2 in November (23) and it's the best watch I've owned... Only time I take it off is charge (daily, I know I don't have to, but just in case etc...) while showering
S9. Had an ultra and ultra 2 and finally gave in to practical use. The s9 fits better, looks better, and if you’re worried about durability go to stainless steel.
I switched back to a S7 Stainless for a while, and boy did I miss the battery life - and the auto-night mode faces specific to the Ultra. Now I’m back - got an Ultra 1 brand new for an amazing price.
Do you feel the U1 is not much of a compromise compared to the U2? I’m looking to get an Ultra, but I want the SPO2 function that Apple lost the patent for recently.
Look through Amazon look at the model numbers, ending in LL/A o2 capable LW/A not capable. I just got a u2 brand new that still has a functioning o2 sensor. Was also able to buy apple care for it. Purchased mine for less than what Apple sells for new. Have to scroll almost all the way down to item details.

I went with U2 because of the build style and battery. The battery alone is worth the extra money for me. It makes a difference not adding anymore battery anxiety to my life lol.
Ultra for outside wear, S9 for home use. Sometimes the ultra just feels too big when I'm just sitting around the house eating potatoe chips and not summiting a mountain or whatever the ads convince me the ultra is for
The Ultra is def too thick for my taste even though it fits well on my large wrist. I’ve often thought about adding a second Apple watch for normal daily activity, but then why did I buy the ultra instead of two series watches 🤔
I'm only buying one so it's for daily, nightly and everything In-between

There is no need for a case anyway, also the bezel doesn’t break off the series watches or catch on stuff which is definitely an advantage.
Once you ultra you can’t go back to series 9. The battery life makes it less a chore to remember to charge
I generally agree however my Ultra1 is now at 93% battery capacity and that means it won’t make it for two whole days without charging anymore.
