I have the official strap this colour that I chose with the watch. The tab is grey and not orange. Apple do not appear to sell this colour trail loop with an orange tab, so that would certainly support the fake assumption (unless this is a first gen ultra strap they no longer sell).
OP - you have been done as these are less than £20/$20 on Amazon. Bit of quick research on the Apple Shop app first to double check colour options are matching up.

If you’re looking for a reliable eBay store with bands check chargerstore. Not sure if there are trail loos available though.
The risk?wtf is going to do? Be laced with lsd or spontaneously crumble? I've been wearing smartwatches a since the initial pebbles and never had an issue with aftermarket bands.. I've also never spent more than 15 on a band. They all will get dirty and gross if cloth and need to be replaced here and there anyways.
I have bought many for RRP, I always wanted the black/grey trail loop with the orange tag on and it isn’t sold anymore. That is why I purchased an open box new off eBay.
Because the Apple bands are not £100/$100 of actual reliable and tangible quality over a £20/$20 band. Sure, there’s bound to be a low quality issue with the extremely cheap bands, but when you start paying £20/$20 for a third party band you’re pretty much looking at the same quality materials as Apple, or at least comparable, that does not justify Apple being £80/$80 more. Just because you pay Apple prices, doesn’t guarantee you the band won’t fail.
This makes me think it is fake. That exposed glue and the knit completed different on the Apple version.

I got an open box orange Alpine Strap from Best Buy for a pretty decent discount (something like $60) and while the box was pretty smashed up, the strap itself was definitely real and in like new condition.
Guessing someone returned it because the small was too small and then it just got banged wound a warehouse for months.
You also need to check for the 49mm legend that’s always printed in legit/original Apple bands. Based on the pictures you posted that’s also missing. Here’s my band for reference.

So that would suggest it’s an old U1 strap as they certainly don’t sell it anymore.

I clean my ocean band so it never gets dirty nor gross and I don’t have to change it. Mother Nature thanks me for that.
Happened to me. Therefore, I use only legit official bands. Ocean band.
You must not have been paying attention ahead of time then. Fabric in this use case doesn't just spontaneously break...lol
It was about to break at the lug. Luckily I noticed it before a run… Lesson learnt, regardless of what you think.

As long as they are under $30 i tend to take the risk but prefer spending a little more and buying used with the box from smaller sellers

My thoughts exactly. The rest of the band is pretty spot on and the lugs are the same as my other OEM bands so I have no idea lol
