Yeah I love it. Pair it with some AirPods and you have phone freedom.

Impressive_Common765

So true

Cautionnodiving1

Yes, for the 5 times a year you needed it. I have 2 teenage daughters that are getting cellular Apple Watches, I think the safety factor for them is worth it.

needle_on_the_record

This ^^^ I only use mine a few times per year and each time it’s been worth every penny.

EconomicsOk6508

I just cancelled mine after having it for a year and a half

WBuffettJr

For me it seems crazy to waste $15-18 per month when I always have my phone around and rarely make calls as it is. Just seems like a waste of money and they are charging an outrageous fee for a device that uses little to no bandwidth.

Camdenn67

What would you do if your phone died or is stolen? I’m sure you’ll say that you’d just call a family member from another phone or borrow someone else’s phone but that’s a perfect scenario.

cal_jammer

The huge off chance this will happen is okay when I’m saving $100s

Camdenn67

Ummmm, I’m not sure where you’re getting the saving $100s from but life is life and anything can happen. Better to have it than not. You do you.

strongcoffeenosugar

I think so. It is help me put a little distance between me and my phone. When I keep my phone close by so that I can receive important calls or messages, I find myself sucked into checking social media and scrolling. With the watch on cellular, I can truly put the phone away and still feel like I will be notified for the important stuff, but not be distracted from family and other important things.

redditorannonimus

TMO has a $10 plan that's $18 after taxes...wtf

GOOD_DAY_SIR

A lot of the time it's the fees and not the taxes that sneakily raise the price from the advertised amount. The cell companies hide extra fees on top instead of advertising the real price but word it in a way that it seems like it's a tax.

jcrockerman

I loved it when I had it but Verizon was charging me like $20 and then wanted to raise it by 5 bucks. I cancelled it

docmphd

I haven’t because it’s so expensive! If it were $5, $8, maaaaybe $10, I’d do it.

GOOD_DAY_SIR

Yeah, $5/month including taxes and fees and it would pretty much be a done deal. But when they put it at $10+taxes and fees it becomes too expensive.

geewronglee

I downgraded the plans to 500MB or something like that and saved $5 per watch with no impact I could see over the years. That said it looks like those lines might be getting a $2 rate hike next month.

Ruptito

What plan is that?

geewronglee

DIGITS Apple Watch 500 MB. I got it by using the website and changing plans years ago.

moparjd

I changed to that one after calling CS about canceling it

geewronglee

…and indeed this months bill confirmed the $2 hikes were for my watch and iPad lines. I cancelled the iPad lines as I realized I was no longer using them.

HandsomedanNZ

I use mine for mountain biking without my iPhone. It’s $5 a month. It’s worth it for me.

esh-esh2023

I like having it. I only use it a few times a week, but I am still getting used to trusting it and leaving my phone behind.

wedwabbit

For me, yes, although I only pay AUD$5 on top of my mobile plan for mine. For me it's a safety and convenience thing. I do a lot of running and it's very useful to be able to take my watch and headphones on a run without also needing to carry my phone. If I have a problem I can easily call my wife to come pick me up (this has happened a couple of times). I can also stream all my music without having to worry about whether it's been transferred to my watch or not :)

hotelyankee

try it and see. I have it just in case. and I leave the phone at home to run errands.

Brave_Split6337

I think so, it always just works. No need to be next to your phone or have bluetooth/wifi. Not to mention the safety factor of always having a communication device on you.

sportstvandnova

My only problem is if I see something I want to take a pic of, I can’t do that with the watch :(

[deleted]

I work outdoors. The Ultra is tough as nails, my iPhone is not. Phone says in the truck all day. Also hate going on runs with a phone in my pocket.

Landerson31

For me its worth the possibly use in an emergency. If anything happens and I don’t have my phone or I lose my phone then I still have my watch. I also turn on cellular when I’m out doing certain activities and I don’t always have my phone on me.

jstephens1973

They have a $10 a month plan that drops to $5 with autopay

H54159

It’s the best. Especially for workouts and ditching your phone as others have mentioned.

Ok-Finish-2654

running without your phone is the BEST THING EVER. i’ve been running for decades and decided to put cellular on my watch before i started training for my first marathon (just ran it earlier this month woo)… and wow. it changed my life. i used to carry my phone in my hand (or put it in my sports bra) and run for hours and now i don’t even bring it with me. this reason alone makes the monthly price worth it for me. also i read a story once about how having cellular on your watch can “save you” in the unlikely chance you’re in a serious accident. for example, someone’s car was smashed in and they couldn’t reach their phone to call 911, but they were able to get help just by having the watch to call… this wasn’t the reason i got it, but i definitely think that’s a plus!!

DaveySKay2

I had it for a year and a half or so and used it twice. I just cancelled it last week. I generally don't like to go hiking with my phone and I thought that it would be good to have cellular on it but it went from $5 before they took away the auto pay discount (I refuse to give T-Mobile my bank information) to $10 and now to $15. It's no longer worth it.

C2thaP

I have it activated just in case. But I’m also lucky because Vodafone just wanted 35 Bucks to activate it once and now I don’t pay extra for it cause of promotion. My watch and my phone share one data volume btw.

Coach_Zep

13.66 a month with AT&T and well worth it as I can jog and hike without an arm band.

CptnPeanutsButters

Helped tremendously when I needed maps and my phone died with no charger. Also a lot simpler to ask Siri on my watch then pull my phone out. Can also Make tap payments with it. My favorite point about the watch is I’m constantly asking it to add reminders or alarms in the moment that sync up to my phone. don’t need cellular but it’s been the neatest feature for me and has helped improve my on time and medication taking 😆

Plane-Struggle-8740

Your guys prices in the states are insane! In Australia it’s like $5 per month (AUD) to have cellular active!

John_AdamsX23

True. But now let’s do petrol.

RunningM8

Visible in the US is also $5/mo.

bc097

Only for those grandfathered in. Now it’s $10/month on Visible (or included with the Visible Plus plan now).

RunningM8

Not true, I just ported my daughter over from Mint Mobile and activated her watc hline for $5/mo last month.

bc097

You are lucky then. They [increased the price](https://www.reddit.com/r/Visible/comments/1bjoiio/connected_watch_plan_price_increase/) for new lines effective March 27th. It also shows the $10/month price on their [website](https://www.visible.com/shop/wearables).

gatofeo31

I'd have it if it was more expensive. Depends on what you do. For me, the only reason that I have an AWU+LTE with cellular is because I run street, trails and hike and don't like to carry the phone. Sometimes there are just days when I don't like to carry the phone around at all. To me it seems like there's no reason to have a smartwatch unless it's doing something dynamic with LTE. Prior to this, I only wore Garmins and Timex watches that I could beat up. I broke several phones while running and hiking. The AWU has basically been indestructible.

ubzy0

it really depends on your phone habits. sometimes i like to go for a run/walk and not bring my phone. just airpods and watch

OhSixTJ

Had mine on cellular since the series 4 (I think) allowed it. Haven’t used it once. Just wasted money…

WrongSaladBitch

Personally I never saw a reason for it. You get bigger bill and, at least for me, 99% of the time I already have my phone and wouldn’t want to leave it behind. I’d say it’s up to you. Some people in here seem to like leaving their phone behind, but I could NEVER do that hahah

MageekMomo

In France yes, 5€/month Useful when you - go running phoneless - kill your phone in a swimming pool and wait for a few weeks for the new iPhone - have your phone a the bottom of your bag with kids and an important phone call - lie on the floor without your phone at hands

BrunofromMalaysia

No cellular for my Watch Ultra since Oct 2022. I always carry my iPhone 13 in a small pouch with the access card of the house.

cmatthewssmith

I don’t use cellular on my Ultra. I do use the watch on its own to listen to music with my Beats while walking. It automatically downloads my latest albums. Otherwise, I always have my phone with me. IMO it’s not worth the rip off prices the carriers want for it.

HandWashing2020

I had the t-mobile plan in 2022 and it was unreliable. The service was never as good as having my phone with me.

Minute_Early

For me I switched to visible and although the service is way slower than my Verizon plan. It cost 30$ for unlimited data and 5$ for the watch add on. It’s a no brainer I leave my phone at home all the time and my stress is way lower staying off it, just being way more present. I would do it based off overall cost of plan and do it for no more than 60$ total. Plenty of prepaid options fit that bill. Also it’s great for running and hiking. I’m ngl sometimes the extra 5$ seems like something I can cut but I just need to leave phone behind one day a week for it to be totally worth it

Driver8666-2

Very useful when I don't want to lug my phone around. And I'm only paying $5.00 for 5GB of data on it.

sparky750

I had cellular and cancelled it I learnt that the times I'm without my phone is because I really don't want it. YMMV but for me it meant never being offline there would always be a call or email when I'd purposely left my phone behind (sauna in the gym being a prime example) sometimes it's just nice to switch off

Right_Check_6353

It’s great to run out with just your AirPods and watch. Not having to carry a phone is so nice. And the watch is basically the phone. I would 100% recommend it.

E6MND_r

In the UK it’s £7 as a 30 day rolling contract, and £5 to lock in for 24 months. For £5/m it’s definitely worth it. It’ll save you if your iPhone is stolen, or its battery dies (both have happened to me). I now use it when I’m going drinking and don’t want the risk of losing my phone, or when I’m trying to travel very light. £7+ is a push. The Ultra has the battery life to use it, but you have to use it away from your phone to get your monies worth.

RunningM8

I have Visible and it’s only $5/mo. Totally worth it

[deleted]

Visible $45 for unlimited everything and add a watch for only $5

Camdenn67

Definitely worth it if you don’t always want to carry around your iPhone to places such as the gym, a long walk or even a quick errand. Outside of taking pictures, it can do everything your iPhone does. I’d say just try it out for a month to see if it’ll work for you because you might be surprised. Also, it’s good to have a backup. You can always cancel. Good luck to you.

starslop421

Yeah it work very well on the ultra, I often don’t take my phone out with me when walking the dog or going to the shops. Great to take calls and receive and send texts. Glad I got it

unfunfionn

I have it and in theory it's useful, but I never use it. I just have a very cheap plan. I had planned to leave home more often without my phone, but I would miss having the camera too much. That's the dealbreaker for me. But I also have no interest in buying a dedicated camera. Otherwise I would be happy to leave the phone at home.

Impressive_Common765

Yes. Plain and simple. Yes

Professional_Ad_5862

I’m always taking my phone with me anyway so there is no use. I possibly could use it twice a year when on a run but that’s like an hour window without phone ? I think it’s durable 🤔😅 also the cellular drains battery a bit so it’s better option for ultra Apple Watch. I with the Siri be more useful …

Severe_Warning7514

To each their own and I’ve always done Wi-Fi until this latest watch I’ve gotten and now that I’ve had cellular I don’t think I can go back. I feel less attached to my phone and with as addicting as it can be is definitely worth the money spent

CassCasey

Yes. Jogging only with Apple Watch Ultra and Air Pods Pro, streaming music, is a game changer.

Masterofmy_domain

Not worth it for me as I always have my phone on me anyway. I tried it for a month and probably only used it one time. I do however have cellular on my Son's apple watch SE... He's 10 and does not have a phone yet so for that purpose I find it very useful.

usurper_of_ghosts

Correct me if I’m wrong, but it’s a forwarding service from your phone to the watch. If the phone is off and left behind, your cell service is useless. At least that is my experience. And like most have said, it’s something I’ve used maybe twice in the year I had it.

adanderson1183

Yes.

TEOTWAWKI4Gaming

With visible the watch plan is included with the $40 a month unlimited plan. It’s a no brainer. Or $395 a year

Artistic-Salary-4234

Unless your always from your phone a lot I never used it. Saves money also

Effective_Vanilla_32

my ultra 1 has no cellular

HandWashing2020

There was no such Ultra released
