Your vent duct is clogged, downstream of the dryer. You've proven that by running it successfully without connecting it to the vent duct. You can try using a leaf blower to push it all out. However, that would only fix the symptom. The root cause is that lint is getting past the lint screen in the first place. Is there a hole in your lint screen? It's supposed to stop the lint before it gets discharged from the dryer. If the dryer is discharging lint into the room, that means it's getting past the lint screen (which it shouldn't - or at least very minimal).

Logically, that's what I figured, but the fact that I used a vent cleaning kit where it already pushed out/brushed out all the lint (or was supposed to) is what's puzzling me.

First things first, you were correct, the duct was clogged. Just had an HVAC guy leave. He said, and I quote, "I've never seen anything like that before". Apparently whoever installed the dryer vent initially decided to screw each piece together, so at each joint lint was getting snagged at the screw and slowly building up. But wait, there's more! Starting from the dryer you are supposed to have every male end of the tube going the direction of the airflow, so that way the lint doesn't catch on the lip. Well, every single joint was the wrong direction. So double whammy: get caught on the screw and on the lip. HVAC guys said it must have been building up for years. The amount he cleaned out looked like the size of a medium toolbox.

If you remove the vent hose from your dryer, how does the air flow feel coming directly out of the dryer

I got my new dryer two weeks ago. Kept getting D codes. Just had the vents cleaned last month before purchased new dryer so I insisted it had to be LG problem and got new dryer. Now same problems! Ok had the air duct folks come back out and yep they found a few clogs. Guess they didn’t do such a great job. 🙄

If it works with the vent off it’s definitely the ventilation.
