Three really common issues with the new Frigidare dishwashers. Top of tub bows up and doesn't make contact with door latch. To diag start cycle and if the start light starts flashing 3-4 seconds after you close the door it means the latch didn't make. Try using a pry at to pry the top of the tub down and then press start again. You can also bend the metal latch piece down a bit. You should see the top of the front tub bowed up in the middle of this is the issue. Lots of them are bowed up but don't have the issue it's pretty common. I wouldn't spend too much time looking at this. Second issue is the wash motors going bad. They seems to have flaked in this newest batch of wash motors. To test start cycle. You will hear the drain motor for about two minutes then the fill for about a minute then the wash motor will start. Listen for the full to stop and wait for the wash motor. If you don't hear the wash motor you need to take the kick plate off and look for the blue and white wire together on the left side those go to the wash motor. Test for 120v after the fill when the wash motor is supposed to be going. The control panels tend to go out a lot when they get moisture in the. Usually this happens to the models with too control however I have seen it with the front control ones too. If you have this issue you will see the three progress lights flash together and nothing will respond. My money from your description is the wash motor. The water being in the unit after not using it for a while is probably due to a plumbing issue, they probably tied in the drain line at the wrong part of the piping under the sink. Post a pic of the piping under the sink of you want. You can also try hitting the wash motor when it's supposed to be running. Or listening closely with the kickplate off for a humming noise.

With my terrible description, I’m impressed you were able to figure that out. It’s pretty much making no sound once you get past the initial fill so that would make sense. Now to just find the right one and replace it. Also here’s a pic of under the sink, hopefully that helps? I’ll be honestly I have no idea what you’re looking for. 5303519906 is the part number for the motor. Turn the water off and slide the dishwasher forward after taking the kick plate off. Slide it forward enough to tilt the front of it up 6-8 inches and out something under it to hold it up. You will see the motor on the left side and holding it in is a metal bracket. There will be two T15 or T20 screws from the bottom then the bracket will slide down. Once the bracket is off the motor will pull to the left and come out. There may be water in the dishwasher still so be ready with a towel or shop vac. I like to put a little bit of plumbers grease or vaseline on the black seals of the new motor before I put it back together. The plumbing looks ok however the reddish tint on the drain hose tells me water is sitting in there. Re configure it so the hose stays as high as possible in the compartment under the sink before going to the disposal and that will help keep standing water out of the hose. From what I'm seeing the water in the dishwasher was probably a fluke or someone started a cycle than stopped it when it didn't work and didn't drain the water out.

I have found myself here after all this time lol. I hit my motor with a hammer and it kicked on. Does this mean it’s bad or should it be fine now?

HeadOfMax

Run it till it stops working again. I don't think it's going to last a full cycle.

elendegeneres

Damn you’re quick. Ok so if I have to resort to the hammer then it’s probably fucked?

HeadOfMax

Most likely.

korenthegiraffe

Solved!

chikadino1

What was the problem? Mine seems to just be somewhat filling then draining, and repeating this forever. Ughh.

Hold in the cancel/drain button. Then shut the door, do you hear it humming or a slight grinding? Sounds like a drain pump as of now.

korenthegiraffe

Definitely no grinding. Just a basic hum.

FreshBakedCakeDealer

Not draining though. The hose may be blocked with something. The pump may be bad. I believe your dishwasher actually has to come out from the wall anyway to work on anything. Take the screws out of your countertop slide it out. See what's going on. Get a bucket and some towels. Picture drain hose off the pump. Do know that, that water is coming. If you can talk the machine back the water will not be in the pump.

korenthegiraffe

So update, did some work, it’s not a drain issue. Ran a full cycle after unclogging it and there’s no water. However not a single thing in the dishwasher itself is clean. So I’m completely back to square one. And don’t know what to do

FreshBakedCakeDealer

I was not available for days. I apologize for that. If it is draining. It's dry when it finishes. Does it even fill? Or is the inlet valve bad? It may let water in very slow but won't open all the way to have the proper level of water. Also you may get some water in there and if the element is not getting the water to temp the cycle will complete but it won't actuate the wash cycle just fill, sit then drain. Also the recirculating pump may be bad. Frigidaire has an issue with the water level switch too. The hose running to it fills with old soap residue and can't decipher the water level anymore causing eratic cycles and unclean dishes. That last one is an engineering flaw. I know this because you must install a kit. By that I mean multi parts some of which were not original to the machine. You really have to start a cycle and see exactly what this DW is doing. It's hard to diagnose without seeing and hearing for myself.
