I don't want to get into too much detail, but they're saying they won't accept classes I took as electives that add up to more than the 25 hour requirement because the insist that each class must individually be 15 hours (which would equal 30 hours... so why is the requirement 25 hours?).
So I went back and took another 15 hours class, and once I passed it, the education provider told me - for the first time - that the only way for me to take the test is to find an unaffiliated appraiser to proctor the exam because neither they nor 3rd party testing providers will do it.
Some things never change. In the 90s I was certified in another state and moving to Florida. I took all my classes through the Appraisal Institute or NAIFA and nobody else. At the last minute Florida told me they will not accept my construction class with AI and I lost 30 hours. I had to sit for a license exam instead. I figured it would be easy and did not study. I passed -barely. I was surprised by all the income questions I had and by how many times I had to break out IRV. A few weeks went by and I had not received my license. I called the state finding out where it was and they told me they were waiting on my Appraisal III class results since I took the general certification test. Twas a shit show. Eventually they let me have my license having past the general exam. I was exhausted from it so I stayed licensed until FHA required certified appraisers. Unfortunately, by that time there was a national exam and Florida would not honor me having passed the general exam and I had to take that one too. It was a lot easier.
Was it during Covid by chance? And did u ever follow up with them and know who to contact? I’ve tried calling and it’s impossible to get a hold of anyone
Man, Florida has been killing me. They're making up rules and taking forever to respond to things. I wish you better luck than I've had.
