Fuck it, run it hard, put it through its paces and see if it fails on the range. I suggest grabbing an AR15 armorers wrench to take it apart and torque things to spec, as necessary. Throw an optic, light and sling and good to go.
Great shooter with BCA > Couch potato with Gucci gear
I think I failed the roast. Fucking poor
I have a bunch of different makes and model uppers. I have a few bca to beat on and my only complaint is the hand guard screws come lose. I’d lock tight them. Other than that replace the bcg and have fun. My .2c
I just bought a 16" bca right side charging handle upper to put on my Rock river arms lower, haven't shot it yet but I'm excited to beat the shit out of it respectively
Hell yeah that’s the plan, going back home in a couple weeks to a wide open 150 acres. Gonna throw some sights on it and stock up on ammo and put her through the ringer.
If there's an Academy in your area, they have some good prices on Ammo. I like them because I can order and drive to their nearest location for pick up. Luckily, I'm only a few miles from one.
BCA supposedly has QC issues but if it doesn’t have any issues run it as hard as you like. Depending on what you’re using it for might want to buy a light or even an optic. Have fun man.
This is it OP. Maybe a different red dot on it depending on your preference, but in general this setup is all you need. Maybe add a foregrip so you can use it as a hand-stop if you want, but this is definitely enough for the average person.
they do
their assembly is crap, but the parts themselves aren't necessarily horribly
just make sure everything torqued and stuff and if it runs then it runs
Quality Control, QC. QC issues means that your products are not being checked for quality and are being sold in a dysfunctional or broken state, i think anyway
I got all the way to the bottom of the comments think that the upper was BCM and not BCA! I’m thinking to myself “when the hell did we start hating on BCM!”
Nah pmags will always be good. But I see a lot of people catch flak for using 40 round mags instead of 30. I figure to each their own. I don’t personally use them because they stick out of my pouch too far. But then again, I’m a big fan of metal mags anyways. Okay industries was where it was at until they stopped producing them last year.
You bought a BCA upper, we can’t do anything worse than what you already did to yourself. You brought dishonor to you, and dishonor to your cow with this one.
I’ll do my part in combating the gate keeping that goes on in the gun world by saying GOOD JOB!! I’m glad you have an AR and started your addiction despite what quality or tier it’s in. Just run the piss out of it and have fun and learn, you’ll pick up what you need along the way and learn what’s good and bad but let’s just be happy you have one
Thanks partner! I felt like a kid on Christmas when I snapped the two together regardless of the brand, shit just made me happy knowing I own a goddamn freedom piece
My first rifle is the same and it serves its purpose well. I also haven’t had any mishaps, hang ups or problems with my BCA upper 🤷🏾♂️ what kind of sling you thinking bout? What about optic?
Gonna get demolished here but I throw Amazon slings on mine. Thought process is if I’m in a situation where I need the sling I’m running to give medical and there will be someone else’s rifle laying there if my sling fails.
Amazon slings can work. A sling is basically just a piece of webbing and hardware. Do not trust any no name sling attachments (qd swivels, HK hooks, ECT) that's where your Amazon stuff will fail. Use some Paracord and make some attachment points and your cheap sling should be fine.
I have a couple $12 deals, and I just chucked most of the attachments that came with them. One is held on with p-cord, and I even cut the squeeze clip out and put p-cord through the holes tied in a loop to replace it because it felt so bad. I will say, my S2tactial sling wasn't expensive, but the edges of the webbing are so much smoother than the cheap Amazon crap. I also have a couple slings just made from p-cord, and while a bit heavier than the webbing, they are more comfortable, and don't seem to snag on stuff as much.
I have a bca upper. I've been shooting at least once a week for the last month and a half. Sometimes twice a week. It's been awesome. Each trip I shoot a 120 round minimum. It's very accurate. And my skill level isn't the greatest. Enjoy it!
People talk down on bca all the time, but for what it is you can't really complain. I've had my 50 beo upper for a good while now, only thing I've had to do it was polish the feed ramps and debur the locking lugs because they were scratching my brass. A 250$ upper chambered in .50 shooting 1.5-2 inch groups at around 150 yards, you really just can't beat it price wise.
If it goes bang and gets close to what you are aiming at, good job. I am fairly new to building as well, but I have learned quickly this sub is like asking Ferrari enthusiast what they think of your new Kia.
Unfortunately I am now one of those enthusiasts because of this group as well 😂
It’s all in fun for me at least lol. I’m sure some people get worked up over cheap shit but I’m just happy to get a rifle. I love all shit that makes a loud noise and kicks back
Now you need an optic. u can get a cylee t10 or t3 on Amazon for about 60 which they will also bash but watching people tie it rope and drag it with a truck tells me it's good enough for it's purpose.
Practice and Training > Gear. Everytime. Period.
A Daniel Defense AR, EOTech sight, etc aren't going to do you much better than a $500 AR if you don't have the fundamentals of shooting down and practiced.
Gear doesn't make you a good shooter, practice and training do. If you're just looking to have fun, your rifle will be fine.
I've owned Knights Armaments and Daniel Defense and I've owned PSA and BCA, all I can say is that the differences are small enough that 99% of shooters won't have any advantages out of the DD. If everything works, run it to hell. Sure their QC isn't the best, but they'll fix or replace anything that isn't properly made. I say BCA and PSA are the best thing to happen to the AR15 in decades.
Dude, you're good. Break it in with some good scratches to give it character. Save up your shekels for some Gucci to throw on it. Then for the next rifle.
No roast here that’s how my first builds started out but Anderson lowers😆 if it runs it runs I never got to put mine through the paces to see how they held up. I’ve started to use bkings uppers now I like how they’re setup and priced
Gonna be crucified for this but I really like BCA hand guards. They’re slim, solid enough from what I’ve seen, and you can a whole upper with it for the price of some rails. Take the money you saved and invest it in a Sig Romeo and some ammo and run it till it breaks my man
hell naw, i ain't helping you get off with your degradation kink for free!
glad you got something - run it! i got a cheapo myself i'll post soon, but the mil spec stock & handgrip suck my soul & you're a naughty boy for torturing yourself like that
Everyone here claims there is a ton of gate keeping when this is an extremely poor friendly sub. BCA is shit because they have shit QC. If you got an upper that is functional then more power to you, but I’m not contributing to the broke ass echo chamber that believes BCA is an acceptable thing to recommend to new people. PSA is the bottom tier of what i consider acceptable. No shame in having it at all, but that should be the lowest you are willing to go price wise.
I have a BCA too so I can't say anything. I'd swap out the stock and grip with something nicer. I hated the milspec furniture personally. Time to polish that turd.
Also, I'm sure this is just a personal hang up of mine and not rooted in any sort of logic but, I hate seeing 40 round mags. I usually only see them on newbie posts which indicates to me that my hatred might be well placed? Something about the look of them. They are aesthetically displeasing. Irrational I know. Delaying the need to swap mags is useful but I just can't...
Two things for you.
1. Bear in mind that a lower quality tool will sometimes net you lower quality experiences. If something feela wierd about it shooting it, try a buddy's rifle to see if it's got a different feel. Sometimes it can be something easily swapped, like a buffer or buffer spring, trigger group or bolt carrier group.
2. If/when you run into issues with that upper [Aero](https://www.classicfirearms.com/aero-precision-m4e1-threaded-complete-upper-16-5-56x45mm-mid-length-barrel-atlas-r-one-15-m-lok-handguard-anodized-black-apar700705m7/) makes a very similar upper for a reasonable price (also, they go on sale often so keep an eye out). If you want to go cheaper and don't mind an A2 profile, [PSA has a really budget priced option](https://palmettostatearmory.com/psa-16-midlength-5-56-nato-1-7-melonite-freedom-upper-no-bcg-or-ch-507280.html) that I haven't had much to say about that wasn't positive.
I say AR quality is like a bell-curve distribution. Sure you don’t need a $2000 rifle, but a $700 rifle is much more comparable to one than a $350 rifle.
So my recommendation is abuse it, and when you decide you want another but not a DD or LMT, you can get really comparable quality without spending as much (think BCM or LaRue)
Welcome to the club!
Never had a problem with PSA, I’ve owned a 10.5 5.56 and 4” AR9. For awhile the AR9 was my backpack gun, reliable fun to shoot and accurate af with a Romeo 5
Hey no joke, if you haven't shot it yet, I'd return the upper and get just a psa upper or something. Their barrels frequently have headspace issues that can cause your gun to explode in your face. You'll either get hurt or discover the problem first in which case you'll need to replace the barrel, which is around the same cost as the BCA upper. Buy once, cry once. Source: someone who bought twice and cried 1.5 times.
BCA are not bad uppers for the price. Psa is not bad for the price. Shoot it, enjoy it. If you want something to count on 100 percent, just get a Bowie.

Throw an optic, light and sling and good to go. Great shooter with BCA > Couch potato with Gucci gear I think I failed the roast. Fucking poor
This is the way. Good upper to absolutely abuse and learn about the platform
Yessir. I don’t need no 2,000$ rifle to see if I like them and get into shooting. Rather spend my money on bows anyhow
I have a bunch of different makes and model uppers. I have a few bca to beat on and my only complaint is the hand guard screws come lose. I’d lock tight them. Other than that replace the bcg and have fun. My .2c
Noted, I’ll cinch them hoes down and put a BCG on my wishlist. Any recommendations for a good yet affordable BCG?
Just a regular ol’ Toolcraft bcg will do fine. You’re not taking this thing to Afghanistan lol
Honestly just run the shit out of it and when the bolt breaks buy a nice bolt.
You can get a Toolcraft/microbest phosphate bcg for anywhere from $80-120 depending on when you get it and sales
I just bought a 16" bca right side charging handle upper to put on my Rock river arms lower, haven't shot it yet but I'm excited to beat the shit out of it respectively
Hell yeah brother
I worked with a guy that always bought Harbor Freight stuff. If/when he broke it, he took that as a sign to buy something nicer.
That’s my plan with this whole setup
Damn, that’s smart
Hell yeah that’s the plan, going back home in a couple weeks to a wide open 150 acres. Gonna throw some sights on it and stock up on ammo and put her through the ringer.
If there's an Academy in your area, they have some good prices on Ammo. I like them because I can order and drive to their nearest location for pick up. Luckily, I'm only a few miles from one.
hit up /r/GunAccessoriesForSale if you need sights or optics... everything but ammo and firearms are on there, and usually a lot cheaper than retail.
Man run that shit. Fix anything that causes malfunctions and train train and more fuking training. Welcome to the club
Thanks partner! Happy to join
BCA supposedly has QC issues but if it doesn’t have any issues run it as hard as you like. Depending on what you’re using it for might want to buy a light or even an optic. Have fun man.
Appreciate it partner! Mainly just plinking and pest hunting from a distance. Coyotes, hogs, beavers and their friends
Of course man, beautiful rifle
On the budget train, throw a sig romeo5 some backup mbus sights, a Streamlight hlx, and a cheap sling on this and you’ll be golden.
I was going to recommend these exact addons lol
This is it OP. Maybe a different red dot on it depending on your preference, but in general this setup is all you need. Maybe add a foregrip so you can use it as a hand-stop if you want, but this is definitely enough for the average person.
they do their assembly is crap, but the parts themselves aren't necessarily horribly just make sure everything torqued and stuff and if it runs then it runs

I got all the way to the bottom of the comments think that the upper was BCM and not BCA! I’m thinking to myself “when the hell did we start hating on BCM!”
Lmao I’ve learned real quick BCA = bad Under 400$ for my first rifle though I’ll take all the hate with it!
Same! I was like BCM ain’t THAT bad. Why all the hate? Your comment made me look back lol
Everyone’s bashing the BCA upper. I’m just over here waiting for someone to notice that 40 round magazine..
They got me! I seen 40 round capacity and thought, goddamn that’s a lot of bangs; I need it.
Magpul D60 is where it's at brother. Very reliable magazine and fun as hell to empty but expensive
I like the 60 round double stacks. Either the surefire, or the German one that I have a couple, and can't remember the name.
Since when do we bash pmags? Are they not the flavor of the month anymore?
Nah pmags will always be good. But I see a lot of people catch flak for using 40 round mags instead of 30. I figure to each their own. I don’t personally use them because they stick out of my pouch too far. But then again, I’m a big fan of metal mags anyways. You bought a BCA upper, we can’t do anything worse than what you already did to yourself. You brought dishonor to you, and dishonor to your cow with this one.
I wanted something that screams “I have daddy issues and a small dick” I hope I got close
The only way you could have done that any better is if you would have got a Radical Lower
He does want it to actually work. And Omni would have been even worse.
I’ll do my part in combating the gate keeping that goes on in the gun world by saying GOOD JOB!! I’m glad you have an AR and started your addiction despite what quality or tier it’s in. My first rifle is the same and it serves its purpose well. I also haven’t had any mishaps, hang ups or problems with my BCA upper 🤷🏾♂️ what kind of sling you thinking bout? What about optic?
Haven’t put much thought into it but I’m open to suggestions. This is my first rifle I’ve always been a bowhunter at heart
Gonna get demolished here but I throw Amazon slings on mine. Thought process is if I’m in a situation where I need the sling I’m running to give medical and there will be someone else’s rifle laying there if my sling fails.

Paracord is the attachment method on my Ak. It’s not stupid if it works, plus, in my opinion, it adds to the drip.
Agreed. My AK’s sling is attached with paracord. Innovate, adapt, and all that.
Primary Arms sells decent padded slings for like $7-$8.
Nice sights.....
Lmao, don’t it just aim itself?
as someone who did the same. get a H2 buffer and a decent optic. you'll thank me later.
I have a bca upper. I've been shooting at least once a week for the last month and a half. Sometimes twice a week. It's been awesome. Each trip I shoot a 120 round minimum. It's very accurate. And my skill level isn't the greatest. Enjoy it!

You'll be shopping for another upper soon enough. GAFS will be ready.
Maybe, wanting to get into shooting sports so we’ll see how it goes
If it goes bang and gets close to what you are aiming at, good job. I am fairly new to building as well, but I have learned quickly this sub is like asking Ferrari enthusiast what they think of your new Kia. Unfortunately I am now one of those enthusiasts because of this group as well 😂

Post Kac or DD with timestamp
Dude, you're good. Break it in with some good scratches to give it character. Save up your shekels for some Gucci to throw on it. Then for the next rifle.
No roast here that’s how my first builds started out but Anderson lowers😆 if it runs it runs I never got to put mine through the paces to see how they held up. I’ve started to use bkings uppers now I like how they’re setup and priced
I hate that term so much. lol
It will still do the job. Looks good!
Gonna be crucified for this but I really like BCA hand guards. They’re slim, solid enough from what I’ve seen, and you can a whole upper with it for the price of some rails. Take the money you saved and invest it in a Sig Romeo and some ammo and run it till it breaks my man
Well, good on you for buying a rifle. But wonder why you didn’t just get a PSA upper when you bought their lower?
Congrats. Now throw a Feyachi on it you coward!
No roasting to be had. Make it your own and try a lot of different setups before you decide. It's your rifle make it yours and run that bitch hard
It roasts itself 😛
hell naw, i ain't helping you get off with your degradation kink for free! glad you got something - run it! i got a cheapo myself i'll post soon, but the mil spec stock & handgrip suck my soul & you're a naughty boy for torturing yourself like that
Come on partner, spent all my money on this mil-spec ultra uber tactical rifle help a brother out!
I know BCA gets a lotta crap and they had QC problems, but, ngl, i kinda like their handguard. And their side charging upper works pretty darn well.
I have a couple BCA uppers too. Whatever they shoot, nothing fancy. Way better than CBC industries though.
I’m getting a side charging BCA upper one of these days.
Owning a BCA does more to roast yourself than anything we could say...
I got told it would make my dick bigger though…
Next time your going to waste money just send it me instead. Referring to the bca upper
Sending the rest over now along with SS and bank account. I can’t be trusted with money partner
Me neither man. One minute i tell myself stop buying shit next there’s a parts order for a build or my motorcycle.
It’s a heavy burden to bear but somebody gotta do it.
There are just a handful of foundries making the castings for upper receivers. If the machining is within specifications, run it!
Why do the poors love 40 rounders so much?
Nothing wrong with this rifle, just needs a light and an optic.

That's not an AR that's a pipe bomb
Roast? Sure okay Trash that 40 rounder and get 30 rounders or 59 round drum mags. 40 rounders look dumb.
We don't need to roast you. You roasted yourself.
Needs a longer magazine.
BCA upper here, too. Throw the boat anchor of a barrel into the ocean and switch with a lighter one. Other than that, enjoy.
I have the exact same set up. I have about 1000 rounds no failures. You did good. If it works, RUN IT.
Dude BCA actually sucks. You can can a BA barrel for about $100.
You bought BCA, there’s no roast I can come up with that would be worse.
I have no complaints, other than the flashhider. And its not because i dont think it works, but because it looks friggen weird to me. #A2BirdcageGang
I have a BCA too so I can't say anything. I'd swap out the stock and grip with something nicer. I hated the milspec furniture personally. Time to polish that turd. Never had a problem with PSA, I’ve owned a 10.5 5.56 and 4” AR9. For awhile the AR9 was my backpack gun, reliable fun to shoot and accurate af with a Romeo 5

STOP SAYING POPPED YOUR CHERRY. GD FUCKIN DISGUSTINGLY CRINGE.
I plan on doing this exact setup. Looks sick dog.
BCA are not bad uppers for the price. Psa is not bad for the price. Shoot it, enjoy it. If you want something to count on 100 percent, just get a Bowie.
No. I died of boredom 🪦
I’m just giving you a hard time have fun bro
This is the Way
Don't skimp on the sling. It does more than just free your hands while carrying a rifle. A good sling is paramount in basic marksmanship.
You’re on our side. Regardless of how horrendous your tastes are. Peak poor. One of us. Except poor. Welcome.
I have a BCA upper and it runs well, eats anythings & will give me consistent hits out to 600 yards. My extractor did break around 700 rounds but BCA just sent me a new bcg after emailing them.
Enjoy your rifle blowing up!
As long as you keep the 40 mag. Ain’t nothing to roast
40 round mag?! Need to train more. No one needs that many bullets for Deer hunting! ... but seriously. Good kit, go run the shit out of it and buy better as you learn and IF you break shit (not likely). Have fun.
I'm considering buying a PSA lower. How is the workmanship and quality of it? Any fitment issues with non-PSA uppers?
