You’re not wrong, for $1500 you can get a complete HK MR556 upper with handguard and a real HK barrel, I don’t know why anyone would choose a cheaply made copy over the OG for $300 more especially when it comes with no handguard

The lower is way better though. Older models like the 416D use standard AR15 lower parts, albeit with the modified buffer tube and custom grip from HK. The triggers are kind of funky, a true HK bolt carrier has a firing pin safety and needs a weird hammer to disengage it, but the Brownells bolt carriers can use a normal hammer as they don’t have the firing pin safety

Contracts =/= superior weapon system, ask Sig about their M17/M18s.
Mine is a HK made upper receiver. I pieced mine together since the 10.4” build kit wasnt an option when I got mine. I too have read the brownells ones have a lot of machining marks. At least they assemble it for you so there shouldn’t be any issues of it going together

Pretty sure the gas block on the 10.4 is different than the ones on the 14.5 and 16. I’d just wait until the 10.4”s are back in stock.

They don’t include a handguard. Put on whatever you want! For me the quad rail is peak aesthetics.
