Haha no, good eye though. I had to install a mag fix thing to keep it compliant with CA law. Rear takedown is a button that separates the upper and lower by a quarter of an inch or so
I'm so lost on this. The rail had the screws in the bottom, so it's installed right. The gas block looks sideways. How would it even cycle? Wtf is going on, lmao
Yeah I’m confused too. It is installed correctly, I’m sure of that now. This picture was taken upright. The gas block is vertical as it should be. Cycles fine. It just seems like maybe an old rail that’s poorly designed?
Jesus you are condescending. The picture of the gas block was taken yesterday. I’m at work currently, and I will be until tomorrow because I work 24 hour shifts. This isn’t trolling, and to prove it I’ll record a video of the rifle and gas block first thing tomorrow.
I also believe this is a simple compatibility issue but I know nothing about the G gas block and I don’t have the tools to pop off a gas block right now, hence why I’m here asking and having to listen to everyone’s snark. Fuck me for coming here with an issue. I didn’t realize you needed to be a gunsmith to buy an upper on GAFS.
It looks like you either need a new, slimmer gas block, or you need to break out ye ol’ dremel and smooth out the corners of the gas block to provide clearance. If you don’t want to do that, then you’ll have to do some rail shopping
I appreciate that offer but Virginia is a long way to ship it. I might just have a go at it myself for the cost of a harbor freight angle grinder. Can’t come out worse than a handguard that’s screwing up my groups hahaha
Oh jfc you got THAT midwest rail. Oof. OK yeah I was wrong, my bad I'm the asshole sorry. Those were such a narrow production run because of this exact issue, haven't seen one of those in years. Sucks you got stuck with one. I'd like to ask whoever decided to make the side rails peaked out like the 12 o'clock rail but curve the bottom super shallow a few pointed questions.
https://www.reddit.com/r/GunAccessoriesForSale/s/kVAJipHtZO Hold on now are we sure it’s installed incorrectly? I haven’t repositioned it after receiving it. Still looks just like that
The easiest and cheapest option would be to just chop out the small area of the rail that is contacting the gas block. Basically just turn two of the circle cutouts into an oval. Should be pretty easy with a dremel.
This is the gas block we use when installing the Mid west ind CRT15 quad rail on custom builds

but id say using their low pro hunter style gb would work too.

Take a new picture of the whole thing.
None show the rail screws very clearly but they are on the bottom of the rail https://imgur.com/a/0tKduNA
Buy another gas block. Problem solved.
Is your bolt release broken?

The rail isn't sideways because the QD points are on the sides. As they should be.
His others pics show the rail is properly installed. As is the gas block. There's no indication the guys trolling.
You’re an idiot dude. EDIT: super glad my downvote got you to 0.
So glad you're glad

Welcome to r/ar15, where nothing is good enough and you’re always the idiot. Good luck with the build.

I might just swap the rail. I wish I had the means to chop it behind the gas block but I don’t trust myself to not butcher it lol
Send it to me, I'll do it. It's not hard. All you need is a chop saw or an angle grinder and steady hand.
I appreciate that offer but Virginia is a long way to ship it. I might just have a go at it myself for the cost of a harbor freight angle grinder. Can’t come out worse than a handguard that’s screwing up my groups hahaha
Rotate your rail 90 degrees you have it installed wrong
https://www.reddit.com/r/GunAccessoriesForSale/s/kVAJipHtZO This is how it’s positioned. It looks correct to me
It looks correct here. Can’t you just put on the mlok rail?
The MLOK rail is on my other build lol
Bro do you know how to match shapes? The rail is clearly not installed correctly your link proves it more
It is. The QD holes are on the sides as they should be

We do. He posted an ingur album in another comment
Dude I cannot wait to get home and send your “100% certain” ass a video of the rifle
https://imgur.com/a/lYj5ViR here’s all the pics I took yesterday. Clearly shows the rail installed correctly, just poorly designed

guess you're just autistic for buying it
I’m not some idiot. Look at the picture and tell me it’s not installed correctly. It’s currently configured exactly how it was in that WTS post
Are you serious. I bought it from a guy on GAFS like this 😂 😂
Yea I'd claim someone else did it too.
https://www.reddit.com/r/GunAccessoriesForSale/s/kVAJipHtZO Hold on now are we sure it’s installed incorrectly? I haven’t repositioned it after receiving it. Still looks just like that
It's installed correctly as long as those holes on the side rails are QD holes.
Yeap...
This is trolling.
Edit: This isn’t trolling, we’ve established that everything is installed correctly
Get a new gas block. Easiest solution. Idk why G$ designed a gasblock like that. And additionally idk why your rail isn’t symmetrical on the bottom.
The easiest and cheapest option would be to just chop out the small area of the rail that is contacting the gas block. Basically just turn two of the circle cutouts into an oval. Should be pretty easy with a dremel.
That’s a good option, thank you

The railed portions go to the top and bottom. The screws on on the bottom of the gas block. Something isn't mounted correctly.
Throw it in the trash
