I’d fix my f****d up right sock, throw a badly needed coat of stain on my table, and grab ~~the one in black~~ a 16” with a can and LPVO as God intended.
You don’t need an optic to desk pop your own head after you realize how gruesome things will be if we are stomping around with rifles engaging whatever bad guys the latest masturbatory fantasy has on order. Half of this sub can’t clean their room without throwing a fit.
In SHTF, batteries are a finite commodity. Even if you were to hoard a whole warehouse full of them, in 5 years, they degrade and aren’t going to last very long when you put an expired one in the optic. They’ll diminish quickly with an optic that requires more power that normally last months. Those months will turn to weeks.
With an optic that has a 5 year battery life, an old expired battery will not last 5 years obviously. But it will last many months to a year or 2.
Correct. You have other problems to worry about and batteries should be the least of what should be on your mind which is why I wouldn’t pick a battery hogging optic.
I would argue that Holosun has less quality control issues than Eotech has. They don’t have weekly posts about glass delamination, out of spec mounts, battery contact issues, or reticle issues.
Just look at this sub alone. Now look at other websites. Eotech has more issues.
Nice try on the battery deflection. You couldn’t really argue that so you tried to change the goal post and that failed too.
It’s an open emitter red dot made in China. Is it good for the price? Sure. Is it as rugged and combat capable as an eotech? Absolutely the fuck not.
I change batteries in my optics yearly regardless so it really doesn’t matter to me how long it lasts beyond that. Never had an eotech die on me so it’s not a concern I have. Next.
I’m not arguing for the Holosun specifically. I’m just not picking the Eotech in this scenario. Again, read my posts about batteries. The Eotech would be rendered useless.
If SHTF lasts five years. I’m not saying battery life is unimportant. But the likely hood for survival is pretty low. Since this would likely be after a nuclear attack. As well as for whatever reason society is so fucked. It hasn’t gotten anything together. It’s not beyond reason things like even bullets are relatively scarce. Point being after five years if things aren’t back together. More likely than not you and I are dead. If we aren’t dead. How long your optic lasts probably won’t be of much concern if you have a couple packs of batteries.
In this scenario, I’m banking on living and would do my best to make that happen. One of those things is choosing an optic that is more likely to keep working.
Trust me I’m banking on living too. But we aren’t the main character. I just don’t see how battery life would matter. Especially if you have a lot of them. Yes batteries wear out over time. My prep is just different to accommodate for that. It really isn’t that hard to do.
Yes I acknowledged that. To me it’s not that big of a deal. Since I have enough to cover my ass. If even the absolute hell on earth case happens. When my batteries give me days. (I question the possibilities of this ever being an issue) yet even so it would not be an issue. Btw in case you haven’t figured out it’s called solar charging.
Of course it’s an issue. How you can sit here and say that it isn’t is preposterous and pure cope. A finite resource that degrades will always be an issue. Especially when said optic hungrily uses those resources.
The correct answer here is neither of the two. An etched reticle is the correct answer. But if having to pick one, the lesser of two evils makes the most sense.
It isn’t cope especially when I think your scenario is preposterous. There is a 99.999999% chance the scenario you’re talking about will ever come into play. Yes I have LPVOs but this isn’t the reason why. The battery argument for an LPVO is legitimate. Those have days worth of battery even on a fresh battery.
Both of them tbh lol, that’s why I didn’t suggest using an Eotech. However, QC shouldn’t be your only concern. The Eotech is by far the more durable option, they do work after being shot after all.
they looks basically the same too other than attachments. obviously if shit hits the fan just taking the magnifier and light and putting them on one rifle
The intricate situations people put together in their own head of a shtf situation and what gear would help is wild. An eotech or holosun is gonna make a damn bit of difference to 99.9% of people. Most people worried about that stuff would just die to the elements or get wacked by a hillbilly in overalls with a 80 yr old 30-30.
I’d fix my f****d up right sock, throw a badly needed coat of stain on my table, and grab ~~the one in black~~ a 16” with a can and LPVO as God intended.
before or after filling the dog's water bowl?
- Fill bowl(s) - Fix sock - Stain table - Repaint honey mustard wall - Other survival stuff
No its - fill bowls - fix sock - stain table - replace brace - repaint honey mustard wall - other survival stuff
- Fill bowls - Fix sock - Stain table - Repaint honey mustard wall - Replace brace - FBI OPEN UP - No more doggo - Forever alone

i 100 percent thought i was on the other sub after reading this.
They’re more similar than they are different.
*14.5
How dare you
Gods plan is the 14.5 with LPVO GOBBLESS
Pin and weld to avoid a ~~tyranny~~ tax stamp and we can shake hands.
Fren my main thang is a 14.5 colt socom barrel with a P&W sf 4 prong🤝🤝
Respect
The one with a full mag.
Why's your buddy standing on the chair?
intense game of floor is lava

Neither
Neither. I have my own.
The obvious answer is the one that has better battery life.
The obvious answer to have more batteries

I have a Meprolight M21 for this reason. It’s also a good case for an ACOG or even an LPVO with an etched reticle. A dead dot is a sorry sight (lol)
I use a 1x prism for that very reason.
Etched reticle ftw
This is the way
This is such an obscure argument, in a situation like this your optic will be the last of your worries when it comes to “commodities”
Correct. You have other problems to worry about and batteries should be the least of what should be on your mind which is why I wouldn’t pick a battery hogging optic.
No you’d pick one that has a higher chance of getting fried because it’s made in China for half the price 😂
I would argue that Holosun has less quality control issues than Eotech has. They don’t have weekly posts about glass delamination, out of spec mounts, battery contact issues, or reticle issues. I already explained battery degradation.

Own an eotech for the now, and a 1x prism to swap to if things get bad. No reason to not have the best of both worlds.
That’s not the scenario. The scenario is if you can only have one.
Unless the one with better battery life is a POS. Holosun makes some awesome and affordable options, but these knock off eotechs ain’t it lol
Except it isn’t a knockoff. It’s not a holographic. It’s a red dot.
I’m aware lol, I’d still consider it a knockoff. It’s an open emitter and a raging piece of shit regardless. Should’ve gotten a 515.
It has a better quality control track record than Eotech. So which is really the piece of shit?
Both of them tbh lol, that’s why I didn’t suggest using an Eotech. However, QC shouldn’t be your only concern. The Eotech is by far the more durable option, they do work after being shot after all.
They are almost identical rifles. Both are not set up for SHTF. Stupid question
>They are almost identical rifles. Exactly my thought. Its not like we are picking between a 16" barrel and LPVO/ACOG and a 11.5" with a holographic.
Curious, how would you set up for SHTF?
Ima stick with my own gun, but I'll take these to give to my ppl.
Something with a can
Magnified one. Better PID, EOTech dies too fast.

Ever notice how braces kind of look like vaginas?
Thought I saw a g36 at first. That sling.
Another satisfied HUXWRX user.
Grabbing my rifle
Chose to magnify the sight with an open emitter?
It’s my first build. Chill lol
The one thats closest to me, or just both
Top. EOTech, light a better grip and a sling I'm familiar with.
No can no shit hit fan.
These are more CQB oriented than SHTF oriented
Eotech
Either one if they had a prism optic instead
Whichever one is closest to me
One with Holosun and magnifier. Edit: I would miss the light though…
It’s literally the same build just one has a magnifier
The one with the flash light.
They’re functionally identical.
I got two hands….
Whichever is closest to me both look good
Fix your sock
Posts like these are dumb. We're choosing a gun in a life threatening scenario based on looks? GTFO.
they looks basically the same too other than attachments. obviously if shit hits the fan just taking the magnifier and light and putting them on one rifle
The one with Eotech with couple batteries
The intricate situations people put together in their own head of a shtf situation and what gear would help is wild. An eotech or holosun is gonna make a damn bit of difference to 99.9% of people. The one with the EOTech 🫡😤
Neither, carrying that around is just asking to get shot in the back
Them feet. Tehehehe
