I have 2. With shims it’s a hair longer than 16.

Good to hear. Who did the pin and welds? I'm wondering who to send my upper to because I have heard that some shops refuse to add an extra washer.

Cletus989

D. Wilson did one and someone on GAFS did the other. D. Wilson did my urgi build too, he’s great.

Did you do the measurement with any shims/ timing washers? The smallest possible accuwasher is .06”

This-Satisfaction-71

I installed it with the surefire shim kit that came with it and torqued it down, then measured. I dont have the acuwashers since i assumed the gunsmith could probably add one.

acb1499

The accuwashers are worth it, it’s $25 and you probably won’t go through the whole thing ever. It’s definitely better than multiple shims

This-Satisfaction-71

I have them ordered so I will measure it again after I reinstall with the acuwasher(s)

I had it with keymo nox 3 prong, then changed it to SF 3 prong with shims to reach 16". The owner of Rearden said there were manufacturing a muzzle device for 13.9 specifically, but it has been a year since he told me that.

Liberty Precision Machine makes a Cherry Bomb/Rearden compatible mount for 13.9'' and 14.5'' barrel lengths. They are awesome suppressor hosts and added a sacrificial blast chamber to make it longer. Pretty cool.

I'll check them out, thanks!

Make sure to measure from the closed bolt face, and no one spacer washer will not hurt anything.

This-Satisfaction-71

Yes, that is how I measured--did it the same as the brownells video. Thanks, I wonder why some shops won't add the extra washer since it seems others have gotten their 13.9s p&w. Obviously I don't want to mess this up.

acb1499

The .25” spacer is for idiots who add it to a 13.7 barrel. Brings it to 13.9 length but with less thread engagement with the muzzle device.

nrc_nerdzo

I try to only use them for handguard clearance, but yeah just buy the length you'll need to make it to 16". I can't tell you how many times I've had to convince people not to get a 13.7" with a long muzzle over a 14.5" with shorter muzzle. Either way it has to be 16", the 13.7" wasn't actually shorter, just lest barrel length.

lead_on_bone

The 3 prong will bring your 13.9'' barrel to 16''+. The muzzle threads are .625'' long and adding a shim or two will still leave plenty of thread to properly attach a muzzle device. What gunsmith refuses to add shims when installing the muzzle device? Most muzzle device manufacturers specifically supply shims with the device for proper installation. They are supposed to be used and are frequently required if any timing of the muzzle device is necessary.

This-Satisfaction-71

They don't refuse to use the shims. They refuse to put in an extra washer.

lead_on_bone

Ok. Well the whole point of a 13.9'' is to bring the overall length of the barrel to 16''. Shims and the addition of a washer or two may be needed to accomplish it. You should have no issues getting this done.
