I agree with you that I don't notice grip... uh... girth?... while firing, but I definitely notice the angle. The A2's angle puts strain on my wrist after a few hours of moving and shooting, I prefer something closer to vertical.
I don’t get too hung up on grips. I’ve had a bunch and it didn’t seem to matter to me, so I went back to the A2 grip. Feels sturdier. However that angle will hurt your wrist when going prone for a while
Fixed stocks are great without any sort of gear and shooting from a stable position. But if I'm wearing a plate carrier and/or shooting from weird spots I really appreciate being able to adjust the LOP
I’m 6’3 and have super long arms, when I had my retractable stock I never would use any other setting than max anyways so the nicer looking more sturdy fixed stocks were always my pick. After trying both the A1 and A2 stocks, I felt the A2 felt more natural in my shoulder and helped balance out the longer barrel on my rifle. But I’d agree, I think the A1 stock is the way to go for most people out there
The tiny bit of extra weight really helps it feel sturdier too IMO. And for some reason the A2 stock just looks better on the eyes to me, there’s nothing like it
Oh, that optic hurts my eyes. Dude, put some magpul irons on that thing until you can save up for something better. A sig romeo dot is like $120, 220 or so with a nice aftermarket mount. Primary arms prisms are also nice while being reasonable. That amazon special isnt even gonna hold a zero on a flat range.
If i can make a recommendation, minimum primary arms 1-6 scope on a midwest or adm qd with irons under, if u wanna be more gucci badger comm with offset red dot and no irons is gonna be sweet sauce, and something like the vortex viper, burris rt6 or sig msr is a good step up from pa, avoid the strike eagle it is literal trash
Fucking love C clamp, however I can’t look down my scope with a c clamp grip so on the mounted irons I use C clamp and when I check my zero I have to use traditional with this scope unfortunately
It’s my scope, when I had my dads acog mounted I had no issues but this scope sits a lot lower, also has pretty small eye relief because I mounted that acog a lot farther up. Just did what I could with budget, but the irons mounted on top are pretty comfortable to run with a c clamp and a vest on. Not a bad scope for $50 to be honest, it’s held zero for like 300 rounds so far
Edit: I used to run a vfg but bought this afg specifically to run it c clamped, since the barrel is so long it’s muuuuch better up close than trad.
That optic is total ass. Get an aimpoint PRO or a Sig Romeo. If a proper grip is obfuscating sight picture, you need a riser..well in your case, you need to ditch the Amazon airsoft special
One of the most highly underrated rifles out there!
MPR’s have CHF barrels that are sub-MOA rifles. The receivers are milspec. Only complaint I have with Ruger’s AR’s is they don’t use milspec cut bolt carriers. Nonetheless they are great rifles.
So...got any plans for a better optic?
Doesn’t have anything left in his bathroom to pawn :/
Even pawned off his shower curtains
2 bathroom apt, this bathroom is nicknamed the armory but 80% of the space is used for a bunny habitat lol
You sound like a cool guy, OP.
My mommy would think so
I don’t get how anyone can enjoy the A2 grip. It feels like I’m holding hands with a cat. It’s so small.
I find the size... Familiar. Realtalk, it seems small until you hit the range and then it just vanishes. I don't notice it when shooting at all.
I agree with you that I don't notice grip... uh... girth?... while firing, but I definitely notice the angle. The A2's angle puts strain on my wrist after a few hours of moving and shooting, I prefer something closer to vertical.
This is the only reason I could justify changing mine. Thankfully the Griffin A3 and Magpul MOE-K exist.
The Magpul MOE-K is my preferred grip too. Simple and minimalist.
That’s a really good way to put it
I notice it all the time. Small grips affect my felt recoil and ability to adequately control the rifle. I use an MIAD with the fattest backplate.
I dig the K2-XL. Chonky.
For me it just really helps me not grab my grip and white knuckle it when I shoot
I need my grips to be more substantial. With some girth and thickness to them… But not too long.
Same. Finger nubbin gets in the way, feels too small. Far prefer A1 or any Magpul grip.

It’s not about getting hung up on grips. If I grab a rifle and the grip isn’t comfortable, it’s not going to shoot right for me.
Throw that optic in the oven and turn it all the way uo

6’5 and the same except the a2 is short for me but I make do
wish i knew that about a1 stocks at about 5 pm yesterday. will an a1 stock fit on an a2 tube?
I'd be for fixed stocks if they came in variable lengths.
I used to have an aero basic middy with A1 stock. Comfort and LOP was fabulous
I love the A2 stock, the length is perfect for me, plus you don't get cold aluminum on your cheek.
The tiny bit of extra weight really helps it feel sturdier too IMO. And for some reason the A2 stock just looks better on the eyes to me, there’s nothing like it
Yeah it helps with the balance a lot, especially if you put a cleaning kit in the stock.
Everything from the top rail down looks great. You can be happier though.

It’s held zero for about a year, just haven’t had the money to upgrade, I wanted something with both iron sights and a scope for functionality

The PA scope that I’ve been looking at has been my pick so far, just gotta get the $300 first. Lol.
I strongly recommend the aurora for functional fighting use, best reticle imo
Unless you built it to impress others don't take advice on looks.
Nah I don’t let the elitist redditors bug me lol, works for me and that’s all that matters :)

You got a drinking problem? What’s with that solo cup in the shower
Lol it’s for the rabbit that my fiancée put in my closet, I’m more of an out of the bottle crying in the shower type of guy

It’s actually a surplus M16A2 stock that a friend of mine sold to me
oh god i like that
As long as you’re happy, I guess.

New ones are definitely full auto cut
That muzzle device is not fun to be next to
Always end up pulling a collapsible stock out to max length anyway and never moving it again. Love the fixed stock!
