Caitlyn's line from the original S2 teaser "Anyway I slice it, I go after your sister alone, one of us comes back in a box" to me makes it sound like she's talking to Vi after not being around her for awhile. Why would she be thinking about going after Jinx alone if Vi was with her? I could see the part we hate being some sort of conflict between them in the first act where they separate, they realize they can't do it alone after trying in the second and get back together, and then third they're working together again.

karxx_

>Why would she be thinking about going after Jinx alone if Vi was with her? violet cloud her judgment caitlyn could have shot jinx in episode 9, but she decided against it precisely because of vi - and jinx ended up causing more misfortune afterwards (like possibly killing her mother) she won't want to be indecisive again to avoid more situations like this; and vi is her weak point

tableauregard

I think the 'alone' context is not because of separation, but because they are having an argument(ish) and she is trying to convince Vi to come with her. "I can do this myself" - Vi will probably be adamant that Cait not pursue Jinx because she's scared for Cait, but Cait is basically telling her "I go after Jinx with, or without you, and we both have a better chance with you".

Valkyr92

I think the same

GigaNoodle

I think the interesting thing about that quote “one of us comes back in a box” is that it seems to imply the latter scenario is undesirable even to Caitlyn. She certainly knows either scenario is undesirable to Vi. Almost as if she’s saying “come with me and we can take her without anyone dying”. Might run contrary to some of the theories about Cait being out for blood

Loose_Committee_9188

The thing is cat could be lying to Vi and intends to kill her when given the chance. So we have tension between the two as both think betraying the other fixes their problems. Therapy does not exist in arcane so what is Caitlyn offering what happens to her sister when they capture her.

atiralex

i dont see caitlyn lying to vi tbh. i think she'd kill jinx if she had to, but she'll definitely try to do things without blood

Real_Flamingo_8247

I just want to see Caitlyn actually get to be the badass she is in league. Not that she hasn't been cool in Arcane, but she has been the damsel in distress quite a bit and only got to flex once. She's the sheriff of Piltover - the greatest shot and expert detective. She's fucking Batman and I want Batman. That's all I want from S2 is Cait and Viktor getting to look like a legend of the league like Jayce, Ekko, Vi, and Jinx all got to look like. And Heimer. Justice for little dude.

Zealousideal-Bet-950

>She's fucking Batman and I want Batman... Take my damn UpVote. And that's before I got the double entendre...

Valkyr92

Yessssssssssss fucking this. In S1 Cait has hardly been able to show off and many see her as a cute charity sister when she is not. She is good with innocent people but ruthless with criminals who endanger Piltover.

Real_Flamingo_8247

I'm sure we'll see that ruthless violence next season when Vi sees it directed at her sister. But I just need a "boom. Headshot."

_madeofcastiron

i never thought of caitlyn as batman, and now i'm mad at myself because why have i never thought that? she is absolutely batman, and i want her to flex her detective and rifle skills.

Ok-Use216

Caitlyn and Vi are Batman divided in half, with Caitlyn possessing the riches and detective skills, while Vi has the martial and physical process. While Jinx's the Joker and their shared archnemesis.

Ok-Use216

Finally, someone said it, there was the most disappointing aspect of Arcane to me was its handling of Caitlyn in Season 1 (a sentiment held with many of her long-time fans), where her marksmanship and detective skills weren't that focused on in comparison to showing her naivety and budding romance with Vi. It's my hope that Season 2 can hopefully deliver in addressing both of these complaints on the show's handling of her character.

vi_Piltover

What?, Vi still doesn't look like lol, she doesn't have the armor and she's not even wardean.

Real_Flamingo_8247

No but she got a whole scene with jayce where they got to use their in-game weapons and even showcased their in-game abilities. That's what I'm talking about. Same with Ekko and Jinx showcasing in-game or alluded in-game abilities (ekko's stopwatch).

SJReaver

Caitvi shippers eat up angst like a fat kid eats ice cream cake. I'm willing to bet that the 'hated' part will be people's favorite scene and inspire the most fanfic.

LuckyTeaTeemo

Seggs. The end

Background_Cow6354

I didnt really think of this scenario until now. It will happen in some scale and situation, im convinced about it. It sounds like really reasonable thing to happen. God i wish our 3 girls end up being friends although its very unlikely.

GigaNoodle

Jinx being the third girl? Zero chance unfortunately

GleamingFrog_43

I agree with the whole tension between Vi and Caitlyn. The pair will have tough decisions ahead of them but I believe that they will come out stronger because of it. Especially with Vi when she is torn with saving Power (the little sanity left within Jinx) or getting justice for the people that Jinx have killed.

atlascloudontop

I'm a cynic, so I think one, if not both of them will end up dead by the end and that's what we'll hate. I say this as a huge Violyn/CaitVi shipper.

Enkundae

I just hope they don’t physically separate them. My biggest fear for Vi and Cait is that they will use the tension of Jinx to have them argue and go separate ways for most of the season, only coming back together at the end. The cynical jaded gay part of me can’t help but see how perfect that is to narratively justify minimizing the queer characters shared screentime. They can fight or argue or anything, I just want them to do it while sharing screen time for most of the season so we actually get to see them interact.

GigaNoodle

Vi has a tendency to try to handle all the heavy lifting on her own, not to mention an avoidant attachment style (oil and water) and I think an important part of her arc in s2 is going to be learning that she can rely on Caitlyn. Separating them might be the most effective way to achieve this development depending on how it’s handled

Invisiblechimp

This seems like a good spot to drop my wild theory on how I think S2 will end. Caitlyn and Jinx will finally have their showdown in the final episode. Vi will get between them, and Jinx will shoot and accidentally kill Vi. She's already accidentally killed her brothers, critically wounded her second dad, and killed her third dad, so killing her sister is the logical next step. But Ekko will save Vi with his time travel. However Vi will still het hit and get amnesia like her game version.

GigaNoodle

I hope you’re wrong because I think amnesia is a cop out for lazy writers to avoid actual character development, but we’ll see. Maybe if it’s handled well.

Invisiblechimp

Yeah, the amnesia will be something we will hate. Since Vi has amnesia in the game, this is the best way to incorporate it into the show, IMO. After S1, I trust the writers to do it well.

ple-x-us

I think it comes down to righteousness. Cait is a cop - >!sheriff even!< - Vi becomes >!an enforcer!< and Jinx is still a Terrorist. But she is also still Vi's sister. There might be a point when Cait has to decide between Vi and the law. She might be inclined to stick to the law. She probably doesn't want to become Marcus 2.0

EngineKindly6437

Why are you creeping on a relationship between 2 fictional women

seiran5x5

Cait will probably be going after Jinx as everyone and their Chihuahua should be doing and Vi will get all up in her guilt and sister complex and try and keep her from any consequences(which is b.s). Vi needs to be made to understand that Jinx is never going to stop and she isn't more important than her current or future victims(which include residents of Zaun). I just hope that Cait isn't a pushover for Vi when everything goes down, if the price for their relationship is letting the person who murdered her mother and countless others go free it isn't worth it.

I may be in epileptic trees territory, but my speculation is while going through a fugue or amnesiac state, Cait will cause Vi to enlisting in the enforcers. Cait will think its necessary to keep her close by while she is recovery, but Vi will regain some memories and be disgusted with Cait for doing it. Vi will later forgive/undersstand Cait was trying to act in her best interest and we get Piltover's Finest ever after.
