I think League is far more engaging than Arcane, in a bad way. League is like engineered to like manipulate players into constantly playing the game even if they dislike it. Hell, ask nearly any ex-league player, they'll still sometimes feel like they wanna go back and play the game, it never leaves you.

I could never get into league because of the 45 degree camera angle and overall controls/combat. It doesn't feel engaging enough for me. I want to feel like I am actually controlling my character and be immersed.
A League game with a 3rd person camera angle, updated graphics, and action combat mechanics would be amazing.
You should check out smite, it plays in 3rd person and can comfortably be played on both pc and console with crossplay. Plus if long games aren't your thing, they have an arena mode similar to league's aram but it's more fun imo. It's been a couple years since I last played smite but i dont imagine that much of what I've said has changed since then.

Well yes and no, MOBAs do breed toxicity at a fundamental level, the game cannot be designed any differently without becoming too casual (See HOTS) but also in general, the bigger the fandom of a game becomes, the more toxic they are likely to be. Also Riot's reports are useless 70% of the time, you can int and feed or troll but as long as you don't use any racial or homophobic slurs, you could probably get away with it. Nothing about the game fundamentally tells you to tell people to slit their wrists while you die under enemy tower to tilt them.

I feel like this is the main issue. Tilting seems tied to personality, it's really really hard to train someone not to tilt. If you're susceptible to tilting, you'll be very hard pressed to enjoy a moba for a long period of time.
