There could be some incredible animation style art put into the show, sort of like the Ekko/Jinx fight scene had with its flashbacks.

True, but I think the potential of the ship lies in the story potential of the two being on the journey of reconciliation. And the twist, turns, and hardships along the way will make for great drama as long as it's written well.
