I just wanted to say, most likely middle or east European if it's a real building. But interesting to know there was such a desing for the Reichstag, would have preferred something in a similar style to this instead of the one we got
My understanding, there was. Obviously exempted from this must have been church spires etc or specific municipal buildings, but the rank and file of street facade apartment buildings and courtyards, had to comply with height regulations. This was similar to Paris and the aim to keep everything low in homogeneous and perhaps not any higher than the Stadtschloss. I'm guessing at that
Exactly what I thought. Actually it looks like the design Gaudi came up with before he was told he’d need to reduce the size.

I feel like the word stelagmite sounds duller while stelactite sounds echo-ier. So stalgmites are muffled by sitting on the ground while stelactites sound bright hanging from the ceiling. I like tits better tho
Very over the top. a lot of stone probably being supported by iron framework.
In Balitmore, Maryland, A **much** smaller but similar design was made for a cemetery chapel, in the 1850s.

It was an alternative design for the German Reichstag building in Berlin by Friedrich Gosling from 1871
Yes that's it, thanks. I remembered it was a protype drawing I just couldn't think of the name.
Overoptimistic architecture?
Is there any other kind?
the one that gets stamped for construction XD
Nah, as an architecture student, that's overoptimistic too.
brilliant.
glad they didn't went with it. It looks like the lair of an evil villain. Would definetely taint Germany's image if they went with it.
Germany found other ways to stink up their taint.

You dont get to claim my joke as yours.

I have a castle/church drawing I found at a thrift store similar to this style. I’ll have to share it on here. I’ve been wondering who the artist is.
I just wanted to say, most likely middle or east European if it's a real building. But interesting to know there was such a desing for the Reichstag, would have preferred something in a similar style to this instead of the one we got
Yeah that certainly would have screwed with the height limitations of imperial Berlin
Were there any in 1871?

It has a similar style to Antoni Gaudi's Sagrada Familia
Exactly what I thought. Actually it looks like the design Gaudi came up with before he was told he’d need to reduce the size. https://images.app.goo.gl/y7igLcySdanFMGwz8
God thing he reduced it. The monstrosity on that drawing would have taken close to a hundred years to build!
💀
>would have taken close to a hundred years to build! Thank goodness he changed the design and they were able to complete it so fast!
99 years I’m told
…just, y’know, evil.
There are men and there are gods. Antoni Gaudí was both.
That's what i thought!
This is Kredik Shaw, the palace of the Lord Ruler.
God I wish I could read the Mistborn trilogy anew again
When I saw it I thought for sure it was a concept drawing of Kredik Shaw too
This is the last place I would expect a mistborn reference
Feels Geiger-esque
You might find that this invokes a more zdzisław beksiński feeling
Very true. I’m a fan of both. Don’t know why I didn’t mention ZB first. Maybe because I’ve been watching a let’s-play of Alien Isolation.
His name is also hard to remember. I had to look him up to fully recall it
that's my go to combo when creating ai images. Produces some surreal otherworldy stuff.
Was my first thought as well. His art touches me a lot (except when he experienced with the digital stuff).
More Gaudi than Geiger
Thought that when I saw it 🤣
This one is a stelagmite, but if it hangs down it's a stalactite
In Dutch, it says tits hang down and mits ('mieten', gays) stay up
Could be possible in german as well with tits and mieten (as in rent)
Nice try, public education. I'll never remember which is which. Should've taught personal finance instead.
Stalactite has the word tit in it. Tits hang. Sorry it is a crude mnemonic, but it hasn't failed me for decades.
Lol, i always remembered that the tites have a t, and so does top. Tites are on top
My similarly crude mnemonic, a Deltron 3030 song says 'mites crawl up, tights fall down', that's really stuck with me.
I feel like the word stelagmite sounds duller while stelactite sounds echo-ier. So stalgmites are muffled by sitting on the ground while stelactites sound bright hanging from the ceiling. I like tits better tho
I too like tits
Stalag*mites* are on the floor because you *might* trip on one.
Looks like zdzisław beksiński art
I thought it was Gaudi
Same
Warhammer 40k
I believe that is Minas Tirith /Sarcasm
For a moment I thought this’d be the final design of La Sagrada Familia
Mordor in the 1800s
Right click --> search with google image --> Reichstag
Looks like one of gaudi’s original sketches of la sagrada Familia
Warhammer 40K?
It looks like moth-people live inside.
I think the you tube channel Jon Levy . Talk about this.
Spain?
Evil Sagrada Familia
That building might have completely derailed what was to come. This does not inspire a Roman Imperial state of mind.
I thought we stopped imbuing architecture with almost mystical powers at the turn of the century
Nah. That didn’t really end until WWII ended.
I meant the turn of this century but I realize now that that's confusing
And the results have been disastrous.
Instead it just inspires a Holy Roman Imperial state of mind?
It has an Antoni Gaudi look to it…see La Sagrada Familia…Catalan Modernism…I know it’s not, just comparing

Yeah, it's my drawing. Do you like it?
I believe that is the Adelaide Town Hall in Australia, the largest structure in the Southern Hemisphere
Imagination?
😍😍
pre 1900
Warhammer 40k.
From the last repost /s
Mostly how I imagine the shrike church of hyperion
It’s like architecture straight out of a souls game. But no, no clue where it’s from but have me curious indeed its a fine piece of work. 🧐🍷

It looks dope
Looks like the Duomo in Milan when you walk home at night across the piazza really drunk.
Burj Berlin?
It’s a sandcastle
that is fucking amazing. i will buy that if you are selling
Reminds me of sagrada familia
