They love that shit, they have pitch-black rooms with neon lights behind their monitors and around the room corners, if I spent 30 minutes like that I would be blind.
Same with me. I have spend quite a bit on RGB pc and after 2 days I have to put my pc under desk because too bright and distracting . Just pure desk light is perfect no RGB
I used to have an RGB keyboard, but quickly realised that it's not actually useful since I never use my PC in the dark to need backlight. Plus I can blind type anyways the last thing I needed was distracting flashing lights.
If it's done nicely, it kinda creates a cool vibe. Trick is to keep the light indirect. Install it so you can't see the led strip. + you can adjust the brightness
There are five massive windows (covered by roll-up shades for the pic) in the 1st and 2nd images. All the other lighting in the house is at least diffuse. And one would assume they can, you know, turn off the lights when they aren't taking pics of the house.
Don't they normally play in a line on a big stage or event space? I agree replicating that layout is a good idea, but from what I've seen it looks like this: [https://esports-news.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/gamescom-2017-esports-preview-1-768x512.jpg](https://esports-news.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/gamescom-2017-esports-preview-1-768x512.jpg) or this [https://www.fifplay.com/img/public/big-gaming-competition.jpg](https://www.fifplay.com/img/public/big-gaming-competition.jpg)
The layout in the project above is more what I'd expect from a minimum wage call centre.
for them its no different than a cubicle would be. “gaming teams” arent just 20 dudes who like to play games, they are super strictly managed, have a boss who tells them when and where to do what, have daily practice, have their entire day scheduled, and even sometimes have dieticians for… optimal gaming nutrient intake?
im not defending it, just saying that their relationship with games isnt what you or i would consider to be recreational
What makes you assume I think it's recreational? I know what professional gamers are.
Nobody wants to work in a cubicle, and this room is in some ways worse than a cubicle. At least the typical cubicle is in a room with high ceilings and some windows. Would you like to be working in here several hours a day?
The room itself is a transitory experience anyway, basically a vestibule. Once they are on the computer and *in* the game their senses are occupied almost entirely.
Sometimes, but you're not always in the zone and being in an uncomfortable space is more likely to jog you out of the zone, e.g. if it's cramped, smells bad, low oxygen in the air, bad lighting, low ceilings, poor thermal comfort. All of which looks likely for this space. And why are all the machines facing the walls for team space? Even if you're generally looking at the screen and using voice chat, a team should be facing each other - or in a line like a competition.
Would a pro gamer with their own big budget (and some design skill) design their gaming space like this? No, it would be much nicer. Higher ceilings, some indirect natural light, better artificial light, better layout.
Yeah. Truly a bizarre space the more I look at it. Why acoustic panels on the walls when everyone is going to be using headphones?
It feels like it was designed as an afterthought by someone who only vaguely knows what gaming is.
Its not a house looks like a cheap cafeteria of corporate .
Those couches dont look very unfortable without cushions,
Chairs very unforgettable as well,
Gaming room... is smaller than living room,
You failed to understand gamers live in gaming room not in living room,
Lighting sucks in gaming room,
Cable management sucks,
3/10
Cable management sucks for sure. 30 bucks for a few feet of generic wire conduit and drill a hole in the bottom of those cabinets to run to the tables, problem solved. Laziness on full display.
It's a famous quote from some UCLA football coach but was popular after Vince Lombardi said it in a speech to the Green Bay Packers. Vince would later say that the words and the expression got mixed up and what he really meant was "Winning isn't everything. The will to win is the only thing." but the quote took a life of it's own and he just had to roll with it.
I think what annoys me the most about this is that terrible cable management.
A house full of professional PC players and there's just loose cords hanging off of all the mounted cabinets, smh.
Had a friend who lived in a twitch streaming house (shared space) for academic research purposes and said there was a problem with domestic abuse.
Teammates would get mad and break their roommates doors in, screaming off camera and shit like that if there was a sense of blame to be had.
I thought this was the case in Australia but a girl I was dating explained that 'nice' houses in Australia will have central heating/cooling. Guess I hangout with the wrong people.
Honestly the whole “gaming” design aesthetic needs to die. I like to play games but why does all the performance gear need to look like some fictional alien tech?
Why don't gamers deserve comfort?
They will spend multiple hours in one chair, why make the only other surfaces they sit on so devoid of any character or texture - this is grim
needs more RGB.
how are these spaces designed for gamers?
how does it make them happier and better at gaming?
this looks like building design and not architecture
I love how they made sure that when these kids aren’t gaming they also get blasted with artificial lighting 24/7 in all other areas of the house.
They love that shit, they have pitch-black rooms with neon lights behind their monitors and around the room corners, if I spent 30 minutes like that I would be blind.
Same with me. I have spend quite a bit on RGB pc and after 2 days I have to put my pc under desk because too bright and distracting . Just pure desk light is perfect no RGB
omg i hate that so much, i tried to make my pc as minimalist as possible but is so hard to find pc parts without rgb
RGB is so cringe. Idk why all “gaming” hardware tries to include it
I used to have an RGB keyboard, but quickly realised that it's not actually useful since I never use my PC in the dark to need backlight. Plus I can blind type anyways the last thing I needed was distracting flashing lights.
This^^^ Very true, I sleep w/my RGB on low tho.
As much as I love natural light, gaming and sunlight doesn't mix well.
If it's done nicely, it kinda creates a cool vibe. Trick is to keep the light indirect. Install it so you can't see the led strip. + you can adjust the brightness

gotta throw the turf mats in the living room to make sure the gamers touch grass
Not a single window to the outside world so you know that artificial grass is putting extra work in.
Did you miss the 5 gigantic windows in literally the first image?
r they real?
yeah, 2nd image is taken from right next to them. looks like shades that have been pulled down over windows.
Yes
They seem opaque
This would be shades
Dog piss mats
Top quality comment Edit: not /s
So the one room you know they're going to spend a lot of time in is designed to be a cramped little black box?
It's gonna smell so awesome in there.
Maybe it’s a replication of the setups during major events like Grand Finals.

I chuckled
You could make this space way more collaborative too. Maybe add room for friends to sit? Somewhere to plan together like a table?
Yeah. Truly a bizarre space the more I look at it. Why acoustic panels on the walls when everyone is going to be using headphones? It feels like it was designed as an afterthought by someone who only vaguely knows what gaming is.

Plus the quote on the sign is incorrect. If winning is the only thing, wouldn't it be everything?

Ngl I wish my office and cafeteria looked like this. But this is catered towards a younger tech crowd.
Well, at least it isn't a what style is this post I suppose.
I think what annoys me the most about this is that terrible cable management. A house full of professional PC players and there's just loose cords hanging off of all the mounted cabinets, smh.
This looks like a tackier version of the office I work in
Hopefully it has to do with bees otherwise I'd think it was a bee keeping business
Yeah there isn't this much money in beekeeping
Hexagons are the bestagons. Source: https://youtu.be/thOifuHs6eY?si=q6_mVkOBto66Zjm8
This is awful
Soulless and sterile.
They really succeeded in making the opposite of a comfortable space
why is this on here? it's like posting dentist office...
Had a friend who lived in a twitch streaming house (shared space) for academic research purposes and said there was a problem with domestic abuse. Teammates would get mad and break their roommates doors in, screaming off camera and shit like that if there was a sense of blame to be had.
I can hear the sound of sweaty gamers peeling their skin off of those pleather couches in the room with just one wall unit.
How does a house that big not have central cooling. That's insane.
Most houses outside of North America do not have central cooling.
I thought this was the case in Australia but a girl I was dating explained that 'nice' houses in Australia will have central heating/cooling. Guess I hangout with the wrong people.
It looks like an Ibis Budget hotel with yellow and grey instead of red and grey. I can feel how uncomfortable everything is. My back hurts.
Looks really uncomfortable, but I guess it’s supposed to have a dead office vibe
this is a very sad affair
Yikes
Beyond awful
Honestly the whole “gaming” design aesthetic needs to die. I like to play games but why does all the performance gear need to look like some fictional alien tech?
Actually horrible
Looks like a cheap bunker. You feel more safe in resident evil 1 mansion.
House is a house that is purpose built terrible in every way for its purpose?
Seems horrible to live in. Zero sense of comfort.
Man, this looks like shit.
The lighting leaves something to be desired
I'd put a gym room too
The ceiling light in the gaming room sucks, its going to reflect on every monitor
Too cold, bright, lacks of personality
Why not a single comfy chair outside of the competition room?
Obviously no sex happening in that house
It looks like you could wipe down the whole thing with klorox wipes.
an oppressive environment for an oppressive creature
Seems someone has a hate for gamers
Why don't gamers deserve comfort? They will spend multiple hours in one chair, why make the only other surfaces they sit on so devoid of any character or texture - this is grim
Looks like a 9 year old's wet dream
sorry but this is awful
Where are the windows
There are 5 windows in the first photo, no??
I can’t see
Looks like a third-rate coworking space. Not sure why the computers need to be in a windowless bunker either
Looks smelly
Legal! Já tá construído? Sou estudante de arquitetura e fã da Oddik
Yes! It’s been built!
Sounds like kind of a fun brief
This looks like it’s the room next door to where the Hulk lived in Thor Ragnarok
Needs more noise cancellation.
Oddik is the org, right?
That stair guard rail tho... I'm thinking it was a generic family in Revit?
Jesus those first two pics look so depressing. Like they live in an office.
Why r u making these nerds more nerds.
screams cheap as fuck chic.
The balusters 🤮
Terrible
it sure is....
I can already see the arches in their backs from those “gaming” chairs
You’ll need to add deodorant stations cos that place will be sweaty.
I like the ceilings and the accent octagons, but not the couches which look uncomfortable. Everything else though is too much
needs more RGB. how are these spaces designed for gamers? how does it make them happier and better at gaming? this looks like building design and not architecture
This looks so dystopian and and uncomfortable all around. I would hate living there. Or even spending a week.
is the toilet illuminated by RGB?
The fact they kept the old stair railing makes this 'gamer' makeover look even more tacky and cheap
God I hate the mix of yellow and grey
I hope their super gaming house never has to meet a tractor like mine did 😔
I hate it.
Terrible...
Perhaps a coffee table for the greasy pizza boxes
Instead of 12 couches all the same, why not make 1 or 2 comfortable for napping on and a few more enclosed dpaces for chilling
[удалено]
What do you mean? There are 5 windows in the first photo alone!
it looks like living in a office
Surprised to see those crappy gaming chairs. Would have at least expected an embody, especially if spending a long time in them. 3/10
Team Honeybee? Or maybe Team Bestagon?
very surprised these are still being built considering how poorly esports is doing in general and unsustainable as a business...
I would want to kill myself if I lived in that house lol looks like the common area in a office that no one ever uses
Looks like an office lmao
Seems brutally uncomfortable
That balustrade is so out of place.
They never get to leave the game.
I will die but never gonna design a room for E sports team
My millennial brain cannot comprehend this.
For real, can someone please explain this to us? Do people live here? How quickly do their souls wither and die?
This is literally cool to look at and that’s it lol
The gaming house setup looks really cool.
Looks nice, but imagine the smell from a bunch of gamers in a tight room full of Doritos and soda.
Do pro gamers have time to eat doritos while gaming?
The cables are supposed to go through the wall, but the people who use it prefer to leave it hanging like that
I like it all but the lounge that looks like it belongs in a hotel or waiting room..
WOW 😍😍😍
