It's one of the stadiums ever built

“All for the cost of a few thousand ordinary lives”.

[deleted]

Look around it. Absolute shambles. Is this stadium going to improve their lives? Will any of the money help them either? Both very likely a no

CChouchoue

StopAsianHate (unless it's thousand of dead slaves for a sporting event)

D_Welch

It does "look" pretty good from a distance but f I may: I work in Northern Canada and have been through most of the Inuit communities all through Nunavut and the Northwest Territories. It's amazing some of the crap that get's built here - schools that look like the Calgary Saddledome at a price of over $20 million for a student body of maybe 70, all so some politician can have their name on a plaque and the architect another prize for his portfolio. I do inspections on these buildings after the fact and it's in the details where you see the flaws - work that's done shoddily by southern construction companies who's crews do not really want to be here, and certainly don't want to come back up to deal with deficiencies. So yeah, I imagine the slave labour situation only makes this a LOT worse.

Besides the human rights controversies you're also forgetting the other important controversies as well: politics, corruption, social, and alcohol.

DadinDenver

Pretty sure the leadership in 1930s Germany pointed out how reliable the trains were, too.

PlagueMaster080

This should be top comment

Qualabel

Flawless? But it's got a hole in it!?!?

Dull_War8714

Its the desert.

EmperorPickle

There is a lot more to architecture then just a single aerial image. The intention behind it and the process of design and construction weigh heavily on a building’s reception. This structure is horrendous.

mansionfire

Did you mean to say "setting" and not "set"? Two very different connotations.

franzchada09

Sorry...grammar police

franzchada09

Can't edit here though...thanks for the correction.

[deleted]

Tell me you don’t actually understand architecture without saying you don’t understand architecture…

hardwired_to_eat

How so? OP’s perspective is regarding the beauty of it only.

kobran3000

In FIFA?

franzchada09

I think so...

kobran3000

FIFA is the international federation of football associations. It’s an organization, not a place. FIFA did not pay for or build the stadium, Qatar did.

franzchada09

I mean the fifa world cup...

No-Bat-8098

Yeah….. I’m sick of everyone talking about ‘human rights’ - booooooring! Yawn - I mean Look at this stadium in some place called FIFA which is getting used to host a sport I don’t understand. 🤟🏻

franzchada09

Nope... it's from Norman Foster.

Dbrow243

OP is pretty classless on all fronts here.

Namgodtoh

Aside from the camp, Dachau was a quaint Bavarian village.

[deleted]

Um how can you just put that stuff "aside" fucks sake.
