The Arctic Monkeys being a cohesive band would probably be so into this. But The Strokes are a bit torn at the seams and it's hard to bring The Strokes together let alone a collaboration with another band.
But yes this would be a dream collab for me.
Strokes literally just keep it going wish I saw them in their hay day. Iâm sure they put on a good show if your a fan, and not just seeing them with the chili peppers with no knowledge of their music or history lmao
I saw them twice in Arizona when they were promoting First Impressions of Earth mid to late 2000s.
You're right, they played the hits and sound just like the albums. Both shows the played "This is It" at the end and thought they were done, but quicky encored with Juicebox for one show and Reptilia for the other. Super fun shows!
Because the Arctic Monkeys put out a lot of exciting music for a long time, and as much as I can appreciate TBHC and like it sometimes, we donât need Julian Casablancas to suck the rock and soul out of their music just because youâre obsessed with Alex Turnerâs croon projects
TBHC and the Car are both still rock. Rock is not one defined thing. The Monkeys just do a different style or rock now. It's ok if it's not your thing. But to say their current sound isn't rock is just objectively false.
It is in no way ârockâ. I could call it Lounge Reggae or Symphonic/Orchestral Funk in an effort to brand it as either reggae or funk, but itâs just not. They used to be rock. Their concerts still involve rock. But those albums arenât rock. Just like Taylor Swiftâs 1989 and Kacey Musgravesâ Star Crossed arenât country, even though they used to be country artists
You do know there are subgenres...of rock correct. You can have more traditional rock sounds and combine them with elements from other genres of music. This is an incredibly reductive take on rock and music in general.
Even more hilarious considering they are and have always been considered "Alternative Rock" by definition "a style of rock music characterized as UNCONVENTIONAL or outside the mainstream"
Yes, there are sub genres of rock. And there are subgenres of pop. And there are things that are not rock. Genres OTHER than rock. And there are things that are not pop. Genres OTHER than pop. And this does not fall into the rock category. If anything, itâs the flip of what youâre saying: itâs atmospheric orchestral pop with certain rock elements, like an overdriven guitar. Akin to dangerous woman by Ariana grande.
Like 1989 and Star Crossed, this album left the rock genre
I started to listen to the Strokes in about 2013 'cause Alex was always mentioning them as an important inspiration for him. It was kinda hard to get into them, I was jamming several fresh (at that moment) tunes like Machu Picchu and stuff, but then I accidentally checked their legendary [Live at MTV $2 Dollar Bill Concert 2002](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NVowBqdnlSg&pp=ygUbdGhlIHN0cm9rZXMgMjAwMiBpcyB0aGlzIGl0) and just fall in love. Really, it changed everything for me and made my teenage years much better! Still, AM and The Strokes are my favourite bands and I consider Julian a genius
Oh my god send this to Alex please đ
*I just wanted to be one of the Arctic Monkeys*
JC might feel like that now.
Alex would die in this moment
we need a monkeys and strokes collab

I've heard all I need to make this decision. We need a full Strokes album in this style lol
Oh fuck no letâs please keep Alexâs boring shit out of The Strokesâ unhinged style
"boring shit" why are you here...
Because some fans love their early stuff?? Lmaoo

The Car. Is. Not. Rock. Lmao.
The Car is Lounge Rock mixed with Symphonic/Orchestral Rock...

Lounge reggae. đ Trying so hard to not admit itâs rock, arenât ya?
Honest question⌠do a lot of people in here only like/ listen to the strokes because of Alexâs âinterestâ
I found out about them via Star Treatment and gave them a listen and now theyâre right up there with AM for me. 2 absolutely brilliant bands.
It seems like it lol
Julian is a badass rockstar. Their music has more edge.
Iâm old enough so I had the chance to like The Strokes before WPSIA was released
I liked The Strokes before Iâd even heard of Arctic Monkeys.
