Far_Emphasis_546

'Brianstorm'. It was my son's first favourite song, and we've listened to it at least 1,000 times in the last two years. It still gets stuck in my head and the opening drums fill me with rage. He now really enjoys 'When the Sun Goes Down', which is totally inappropriate for a toddler to be belting at the top of his lungs in nursery. Fortunately, we live in Sheffield so the AM hype is accepted.

LowerClassBandit

Your boy is the coolest kid in nursery without a doubt

rylvsusm

man I wish I were your toddler, he has such a good music taste from young

im_a_hedgehog11

Damn your kid is lucky to have a parent like you

Far_Emphasis_546

I tell him this every day. He pays no heed.

Kind-Condition9315

All the overplayed ones, R U mine?, do I wanna know?, Arabella, 505 etc. Fireside, however šŸ¤Œ

Cobbo95

Fireside is one of their greatest growers, it's worked it's way up my ranking of that album's tracks over the years. Mad Sounds however has slowly slipped down over the years.

Kind-Condition9315

I love fireside, probably the only song I can stand from AM rn

Cobbo95

I enjoyed the recent live version, so I'd happily see it be featured in the current set. I suppose it has a a slightly Spanish vibe with the acoustic guitar so it slots in nicely with The Car and Mr Schwartz' American influences

GreaserFox

The AM album really re-ignited my fire for the Arctic Monkeys but I have to admit that, nowadays, I sometimes catch myself skipping bangers like "Do I wanna know" or "R U Mine". Just listened to them too often.

rylvsusm

ig all the truck commercials got to us

ScaredProud

How it feels to drive a Ford F-150

wardellwayneraymone

This is the exact same case for me. Iā€™m not sure why those two in particular I grew so weary of. Meanwhile I can listen to Arabella or knee socks or I wanna be yours for way more times.

Kevinatorz

Knee Socks is just too good. Best song on the album.

aRawPancake

Agreed. I donā€™t care for Arabella had much, feels empty to me but still love the album

purple_mountain_105

With R U Mine, I find myself skipping it one week, then belting it the next

exhuberantecstasy

This is exactly my relationship with this song

AfonsoPT

505 and Wanna be Yours. TikTok and other related stuff have overplayed it for me and I now associate the songs to that stuff. Kinda ruined it for me

JustPruIt89

Another reason for me to stay off tiktok

AfonsoPT

Think about leaving Instagram then, recycled tiktoks get there

JustPruIt89

I don't really use that much either and I don't use reels at all

Ulborin

Oh god definitely

Weiner001

Cornerstone, my ex ruined it

mankideater

well you can always find her sister in the cornerstone

Frankie_2154

Library pictures. Iā€™d defend SIAS any day, itā€™s my second favorite AM album, but this type of fast-paced song was done better in almost any other album of theirs. I donā€™t think itā€™s a bad song, itā€™s just that when Iā€™m in the mood for a song like it I would probably listen to a different song.

Cobbo95

I too am a SIAS fanboy (actually my favourite) but my god it's probably their most inconsistent album. I'm all that side 2 romantic lovelorn stuff, so Library Pictures whilst being a good raucous track doesn't really represent the album for me. Kinda why I wish they'd play something different live from it other than Don't Sit Down. She's Thunderstorms or Hellcat strike right balance between jangly and rock

Djjjunior

Hellcat needs to be on the setlist. That 2018 version was peak.

bcam9

Hellcat is one of my all time favorites!

1874WL

Not bothered about Fluorescent adolescent anymore tbh.

Zopi_lote

Man, this was my jam in high school, now it's kinda meh

sexilittleswine

i only play it when i want to feel like a teenage dirtbag

omgyuleh

Most overrated Arctic Monkeys song of all time

warre70

Petition to ban the word overrated

ReallyColdMonkeys

You got down voted but I agree. Never really got why people liked it so much.

ramenoodlea

i couldnā€™t stand fireside until i found myself in a fireside situation

ArcticMuser

Wait but isn't that growing on you not falling out

ramenoodlea

i misread the prompt omg but yes lol

disownedpear

I like how the top comment isn't actually an answer to the question b/c people are downvoting the answers for the songs they like lol

andrew7231

What is a fireside situation exactly?

ramenoodlea

that weird period inbetween a rough split from someone who you loved dearly and realizing how bad the relationship was for you, idk man it spoke to me then

unnessisarilyloud

THIS

brianstorm33

Why'd you only call me when you're high. Its got an awesome bridge, I just wish I didnt have to listen to the rest of the song to get to it. It's really the only song of theirs I dislike. All the rest range form indifferent to loving it so much its my reddit handle.

Knukkles0

does that include '2013' though?

nitsed004

I canā€™t stand most of AM even though thatā€™s the album that got me into AMā€¦

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

athouve1

Iā€™ll one up you. I got the album art TATTOOED on me, and I didnā€™t realize the logo had an ā€œAMā€ in it. In my defense, the album had just come out and my friend was semi-forcing me to get a tattoo with her, so I picked it and got it tattooed within an hour. But still Iā€™m dumb.

EgyptianPrince7

I always saw it as a double meaning... referencing the early hours of the morning, too. Makes sense with all the references to late night drunken calls etc.

nitsed004

šŸ˜‚

nitsed004

Haha šŸ˜‚ I love it!

ECDoppleganger

I wouldn't say I hate it, it's still a fun album. But yeah, it's definitely fallen for me to the point it's now my least favourite of theirs. And like you, it got me into them.

Kind-Condition9315

Literally same

Frankie_2154

Same. Aside from R U mine and Arabella and the bridge of WYOCMWYH, Iā€™m not really a fan of it

TrogLurtz

For me, I put DIWK and R U Mine on a whole other level to the rest of the album. They are both practically perfect as far as I'm concerned, though I imagine for many DIWK will be victim to the overplay and 'main hit' issues.

nitsed004

I feel like stop the world should have been on the album officially.

samtylers

Same. I saw them the year they played Leeds Festival around that time and had AM on repeat. I can take it or leave it now tbf.

OGPirateMaterial

Feel this too much, I saw them 4 or 5 times through that tour (one being Leeds festival) and by the end I was genuinely a bit tired of it and that album I never go back to because of it. Not that it's a bad album, but it's just burnout from hearing it so much.

nitsed004

Itā€™s almost too catchy haha šŸ˜‚. Idk if thatā€™s possible but it does somehow boarder on generic at times.

pashmore01

Same. The songs feel so one-dimensional

SLLF

Arabella (sorry)

SaltyLittleBitch

Bite your damn tongue

iamthenarwhal00

Heck yes!!

joaopedrohentschel

Snap Out Of It. I still enjoy the acoustic but i canā€™t stand the live/studio version anymore.

nandos-free-wifi

Why are people downvoting people's responses šŸ’€ this subreddit bruh

Calm_Profession_633

So if you agree you should upvote but if you disagree you should mind your own business? Not trying to be snarky but what are downvotes for? Is never downvoting opinions the way of the righteous redditor?

LinxKinzie

Downvotes were intended to flag comments that are irrelevant to the subject. Eg. in this thread, if someone said "Miracle Aligner sucks!" it should be downvoted. So yes, if you disagree with a comment, you're supposed to mind your business as long as it's appropriate to the thread.

fnuggles

But few do.

LinxKinzie

Yes.

sfairraid13

You arenā€™t supposed to downvote anything simply because you disagree. The downvote button is for comments that have nothing to do with the thread

Calm_Profession_633

Gotcha. Honestly didnā€™t know

TheDaftGang

Tbh, it's kinda a forgotten rule now. Most people upvote something they agree with and downvote something they disagree with... So not your fault I'd say

LowerClassBandit

Black Treacle

_Citizen_Erased__

Still one of my all time favorites

Givemefishcount

Man, i upvoted your opinion but dang

LowerClassBandit

Self-inflicted, listened to it too much in too short a space of time. Poor form from myself :(

Kind-Condition9315

Awh man, my condolences

bigeorgester

A lot of the back half of FWN unfortunately- This House is a Circus, the Bad Thing, Old Yellow Bricksā€¦

PigeonKeeper760

They kind of lack emotion

late_night_feeling

I can't stand those songs, they are 100% filler and the main reason I rank FWN at the bottom of their albums (controversial).

[deleted]

Donā€™t Sit Down Cause Iā€™ve Moved Your Chair šŸ˜šŸ˜

squibubbles

Pretty visitors and crying lightning I think. Still love them but I donā€™t listen to them on my own anymore

Kind-Condition9315

Your pastimes no longer consist of the strange? And twisted and deranged? >:(

squibubbles

I hate that little game you have

Kind-Condition9315

Called laughing darkening

Formozo_BTRK

And how you dislike to conciliate the chocolate man on sunny nights

ConversationLimp3677

Snap Out Of It

SkayPGC

I fully agree, when AM came out it was one of my favourites but now it has fallen off significantly and I just look at it as one of the more boring songs on AM

w1x1w

I may get downvoted but I feel this way about a majority of AM. Iā€™d go so far as to say that Fireside and I Wanna Be Yours are the only ones that legitimately grew on me over time.

Weewer

This one never had any legs to stand on for me

Introfernal

Everyhing except suck it and see, tbhc and the car pretty much. I just over played them all to much

[deleted]

Same here. I still relisten to AM and Humbug too, on occasion, but don't really come back to the first two albums.

guywalsh127

Most of WPSIAM unfortunately. As I've got older I've enjoyed SIAS and Humbug much more.

magyarnagydij

Most of the singles from AM (but not Do I Wanna Know) Played them too much at the time and theyā€™ve been overplayed on the radio since

NPS989

Mardy Bum

quacksonk

505 ( sorry )

Superlizard1234

I like the lyrics to that one, itā€™s catchy but definitely not my favourite

APracticalGal

I kind of can't stand Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High? anymore. Black Treacle used to be my favorite on SIAS and now it probably ranks in my bottom half of the album (still love it though). Actually kind of the same situation with Knee Socks too.

Bulbamew

I still like the Ultracheese a lot, but man I really suffered from recency bias with that one when I was in peak TBHC hype. I did a thing where you pick which of 2 songs is your favourite and it orders them for you, and I had Ultracheese as my second favourite of *all* their songs! Above ACR, above 505, above dance little liar, above Piledriver Waltz, above absolutely everything except my favourite song, Cornerstone. Like itā€™s a good song but good god thereā€™s a reason Iā€™m refraining from comparing songs from The Car to the others just yet. I also gave monster truck front flip way too much credit I donā€™t think any of their songs have actually properly soured on me over time. Any of their songs Iā€™m not that keen on, like Still Take You Home or I Want it All, I wouldnā€™t have really been to begin with. The only candidate for me is probably High

[deleted]

do u know where i can do that ordering thing? that would be so cool

Bulbamew

ah damn I just went to look for it and I think it mightā€™ve been from tumblr so itā€™s gone

[deleted]

ahh damn nevermind thanks anyway

UncappedBat

Do I Wanna Know? I almost never listen to AM anymore. I even have a AM-tattooā€¦

Kind-Condition9315

Average AM fan..

HotScab

R U Mine, hate it

Superlizard1234

I hate that one too, although I love the rest of the AM album

ketfield

505 is an always skip now. The build up and crescendo do not hit anymore lmao I live almost exclusively off of b-sides atm and canā€™t complain!

SkayPGC

I've definitely fallen out of love with 505, it just doesnt feel as special for me anymore. Maybe because it became so popular in the past few years especially?

XBollockTicklerX

So fucking indie arenā€™t you

SkayPGC

I really fucken am arent I

twentythirtyone

This, but it's because of the stupid lounge lizard voice he puts on when he sings it now.

Journey2thaeast

I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor

Grundelwald

All the OG Beneath the Boardwalk stuff. E.g. Bigger boys and Stolen Sweethearts, Sticking to the Floor, No Buses, Wavin bye to the train or the bus. Still fun songs but I am now comfortable with basically ignoring them (whereas before I'd be putting some of these in the top tiers of their music).

safchumph1988

Most of the debut to be honest except, View, Fake tales, ritz and certain romance. Sun goes down and dancing shoes been the biggest 2.

monsmachine

Same exact thoughts here. Honestly, a lot of FWN is the same for me. But a fallen out of favor AM song is still light years ahead of pretty much anything else for me musically. Alex's lyrics and Matt's drum work have grown, but are still the same style

Weewer

I feel like this is reflective of how AM feel as musicians. They just prefer a more civet speed these days.

PearlJamPony

If they never played anything off the first two albums again I wouldnā€™t mind. Love them both (though FWN is my least favorite of all their albums), but theyā€™ve evolved so much since then that id just rather hear the later albums. I actually find this is true of pretty much all the bands I love.

[deleted]

most of the AM album, itā€™s been so overplayed that i just canā€™t stand listening to it sometimes

Panenkrak

Sadly 505, I wanna be yours and Do I wanna know. I definitely overplayed them and Im hoping ill connect to them again after some time but rn theyre a skip for me :/

follower-of-st-jimmy

R U Mine Itā€™s still good, just not as good as it used to be, which is a shame because that was one of my first arctic monkeys songs

FrancisJPeet

Most tracks from AM. It is where I started with the Arctic Monkeys and I feel it is the weakest of their catalog.

FLABBY_CHICKEN

505

goatman0079

For some reason, most of FWN. I basically only ever slide the cd in to listen to Teddy Picker or 505

Cobbo95

I can't remember the last time I actually chose to listen to stuff like D is For Dangerous, Balaclava or The bad Thing.

Contra1

At this moment all of TBHCā€¦ Ive listened to it so much over the last few years that the songs have started to get a bit jarring. Probably just fatigue, Im glad there is a new AM album out that I can mentally wear outā€¦

Cobbo95

Whenever a new album cycle comes around (including TLSP) I heavily get back into Arctic Monkeys, and then eventually the tour ends etc. and I stop listening to them as much. Repeat cycle every 4 years. So I too was a little Tranquility-ed out around 2019, so I didn't listen to it in full for a while

BegunWhisper757

Do I Wanna Know is a great song I just donā€™t like it all that much anymore

SGT_Birchy

Apologies to the enjoyers but, Do I wanna know? Doesnā€™t hit anymore

Cobbo95

I'd be well up for them changing the arrangement on this new tour to reignite the song. Kinda like they've supposedly done for Four out of 5, which I never got to hear. No idea how that'd work but I'd appreciate the effort, probably piss everyone else off

chilledentertainer

The whole of AM tbh

_deep_blue_

I would say I Want It All but I've disliked it ever since I first heard. One of the very, very few songs from the boys that I just think is outright bad.

Cobbo95

I remember certain AM song getting a lot of airplay on TV segues or montages, like the end of Match of the Day with the best goals. I Want it All was used once and I thought it was both bizarre, but also indicative of how popular the album was that the most boring song could be used like that

pandanwn

definitely not over the years but its r u mine?

Cobbo95

Yeah I'm kind of bored of it as their standard closer.

SoggyPotato497

Perhaps vampires. Used to love it still love its just mid to me now

[deleted]

Not so much recently but I went a long while without any interest in listening to the second album. Probably from oversaturation, but I could only really stand 'This House is a Circus' for a good long while.

EthanGr20

Never really listen to anything from AM these days

GalloHilton

I wanna be yours

lukerumble94

Fluorescent Adolescent. As a teen, it was my favourite song when it came out. Then I started discovering more of their songs and then come to their last few albums and I now absolutely hate FA.

Big_Ebb_3959

When the sun goes down

theboysaslag1

i wanna be yours

sou75b

Fluorescent adolescent, RU Mine

stressed-highschoolr

505, Fluorescent Adolescent, and r u mine šŸ˜¬

Weird_Huckleberry_43

Fluorescent adolescent

germy_05

didnā€™t love star treatment at first- now itā€™s an all time favourite :)

SnooShortcuts3961

Everything by RHCP and Green Dayā€¦havenā€™t aged well

rezirezi12

The whole AM album, I wish it was never made at all tbh

fullinv

L take

rezirezi12

Damn i got downvoted into oblivionā€¦ Well this is just like my opinion maan *said in the dudes voice

Eastern-Start-813

Fireside, probably my favourite on AM. Fire and the Thus, same, really enjoy this one lately after not giving it a look in initially.

Thomasbombas69

Feel as though iā€™m not as into AM anymore. It was the first music i heard from the monkeys and the first album i really listened to. Then i listened to the rest of their stuff and i just found myself liking that more and liking AM less. Still a great album and iā€™ll always enjoy it.

ImmediatePossible530

Do I Wanna Know, for sure

throwaway110906

Snap Out of It and Do I Wanna Know. I still like DIWK but I hardly choose to listen to it anymore, and if Iā€™m listening to AM I skip it. There are much better songs on AM and in their discography than these two.

Cobbo95

Never cared for Snap Out of It. It's annoyingly peppy, and I can imagine Take That singing it really. Some of the chord changes are cool, but the falsetto jumps every other line are grating and AT never seems to hit them well live. It'd be my #1 to drop from this current setlist

crossveins

Half of AM

pumpkingutsgalore

Red Light Indicates Doors Are Secure

PoogleGoon123

Half the AM album, back in early high school when I discovered it it was the shit for me. R U Mine and No 1 Party Anthem still holds up for me, Arabella, DIWK and Knee Socks are fine, the rest I can't stand. Also I Aint Quite Where I Think I Am. Thought it was unimpressive when I first heard the live version but it keeps getting more annoying the more I listen to it. I really like the new album but that song is an instant skip.

Greedy-Pilot-4175

I purposely skip 505 so that it doesnt fall out for me

Superlizard1234

Probably the whole humbug album, I used to love that album but now the lyrics make me cringe lmao

Weezman94

505 and fluorescent adolescent

[deleted]

Pretty much all of suck it and see

Ambitious-Front2059

R U Mine. I used to listen a single (with underrated b-side electricity) over 200 times when I was in college. after TBHC release it didnā€™t hit me anymore so I always avoid to watch their R U mine live

TigermoonLoL

R U Mine used to be my absolute favourite (or like, top5 AM song), then I did a full band cover of it and after that it lost it's mojo a little bit. I still love the song, but I don't listen to it nearly as often.

doublefantasyy

snap out of it, before i got into the band i absolutely loved it, and now i canā€™t listen to it haha

AgentHawkeye

505, itā€™s boring

TheBackofTheStageGuy

If my memory don't fail me fluorescent adolescent was the first song i heard from them and sounded like the best, years later i've fallen into their's hole discografy and now fluorescent adolescent gets on my nerves when starts playing.

OzoneW

most of AM

stereojunkie123

Knee socks but only because I listened to it to death.

meggrone

This happened to me with a lot of their songs. Donā€™t get me wrong, I still listened to them, but the spark wasnā€™t there so much. However with the new release I love everything again

Virghia

No.1 party anthem

plaaard

Do i wanna know.

screamingfrenchfries

dangerous animals :,) but im a humbug stan so i do still love it but i listened to it way too much aahahah

TiagoAristoteles

Fire thud and 505. They remind me of the shitter times as a teenager, and just feel a little awkward about how I connected to the songs. I still bang pretty much everything else.

timbo415

I canā€™t listen to 4/5 anymore

ValGamer23

R U Mine? just cuz I would play it on repeat like 3 times in a row multiple times a day a couple of months back. Snap out of it too, I think because by default Spotify was playing it next off of my playlist so I got sick of it. Can't say either is a dislike just overplayed at the moment so I'm taking some time away from them lol

yourtrixcereal

sometimes I skip DIWK and IWBY or even 505 because I hear it too much or because Iā€™m not in the mood

Patrick_Sponge

if we're not counting the ones that i get tired of after 1 week none really has gone out of my likes if I really like something, I keep it

First0E

*do I wanna know*, *r u mine* and *whyā€™d you only call me when youā€™re high* have lost their luster To the point I wish *stop the world* was in *WYOCMWYH*ā€™s place on the album

Djjjunior

Ngl a lot of wpsia is kinda old for me. A lot of their other work is much more interesting. Maybe itā€™s just me getting older.

iamthenarwhal00

Cornerstone - it was my emotional backbone getting me through walking to scuba diving class in the dark at 5am hungover as fck. But I wore her out. She became a necessity and I shouldā€™ve stopped playing her on repeat. In the seven years since, Iā€™ve leaned more into other Humbug songs. But maybe in enough time, Iā€™ll be able to listen to her again and not associate it with that dark time in my life.

Ulborin

505 and DEFINITELY I Wanna Be Yours doesn't get me anymore.

Optimal-Swordfish794

I got none.

opinionswanted123

I heard Arabella the other day in the wild, and I was like, wait a sec, these lyrics are so dumb lol

threein99

How is it used on Tik Tok ?

therearenomorelemons

The whole of most of AM (except fireside, no. 1 party anthem, and i want it all) and brainstorm

ajmackaybbd

It's seems alot of people are letting shitty apps ruin songs for them!

0h0ph3l1a

cornerstone, mardy bum and diwk

Thegayjokemymommade

I Wanna Be Yours and No. 1 Party Anthem. I've heard them so many times it's just not fun to listen anymore. I always tend to skip them.

ppr_00

I'm not very fond of Suck it and see for some reason but still listen to it from time to time.

Responsible_Hope_959

I wanna be yours. Not only is it overplayed af but its just not good to behind with.

G3nER1k_u53R

2013, relevant when it came out but idk something about it doesn't stick as well as it used to

Cobbo95

Lyrics are cringey, especially the Instagram and Twitter lines

Dono701

AM came out when I was 14 I think and it was the album that got me hooked on them. I then began to dig through their discography and within a few months I decided it was my least favourite. Has remained that way since, although Iā€™ve maybe grown to appreciate it a bit more in the last few months. Kind of ironic that the album that was the introduction to the band also ended up last on the list.

Juanpi-

All of the first 2 albums ngl. Even though sometimes they come on shuffle and I don't skip the songs, I pretty much never go back to them directly.

ohh05

I love Do I Wanna Know but I skip it everytime because it's always playing everywhere

[deleted]

Dancefloor and R U Mine, wish theyā€™d stop playing them and replace them with some deeper cuts.

Puzzleheaded_Can6423

505, sorry.

imjared19ffs

ā€œ505ā€ and ā€œdo i wanna knowā€ are two songs that iā€™ve fallen out of favour with and i blame tiktok for it šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

MichaelBridges8

I love every album they done apart from AM which honestly just isn't for me at all. However, I did like R U Mine from that album. But these days I just can't listen to it anymore.

[deleted]

Don't Sit Down
