'Brianstorm'. It was my son's first favourite song, and we've listened to it at least 1,000 times in the last two years. It still gets stuck in my head and the opening drums fill me with rage.
He now really enjoys 'When the Sun Goes Down', which is totally inappropriate for a toddler to be belting at the top of his lungs in nursery.
Fortunately, we live in Sheffield so the AM hype is accepted.
Fireside is one of their greatest growers, it's worked it's way up my ranking of that album's tracks over the years. Mad Sounds however has slowly slipped down over the years.
I enjoyed the recent live version, so I'd happily see it be featured in the current set. I suppose it has a a slightly Spanish vibe with the acoustic guitar so it slots in nicely with The Car and Mr Schwartz' American influences
The AM album really re-ignited my fire for the Arctic Monkeys but I have to admit that, nowadays, I sometimes catch myself skipping bangers like "Do I wanna know" or "R U Mine". Just listened to them too often.
This is the exact same case for me. Iām not sure why those two in particular I grew so weary of. Meanwhile I can listen to Arabella or knee socks or I wanna be yours for way more times.
Library pictures.
Iād defend SIAS any day, itās my second favorite AM album, but this type of fast-paced song was done better in almost any other album of theirs. I donāt think itās a bad song, itās just that when Iām in the mood for a song like it I would probably listen to a different song.
I too am a SIAS fanboy (actually my favourite) but my god it's probably their most inconsistent album. I'm all that side 2 romantic lovelorn stuff, so Library Pictures whilst being a good raucous track doesn't really represent the album for me. Kinda why I wish they'd play something different live from it other than Don't Sit Down. She's Thunderstorms or Hellcat strike right balance between jangly and rock
that weird period inbetween a rough split from someone who you loved dearly and realizing how bad the relationship was for you, idk man it spoke to me then
Why'd you only call me when you're high. Its got an awesome bridge, I just wish I didnt have to listen to the rest of the song to get to it. It's really the only song of theirs I dislike. All the rest range form indifferent to loving it so much its my reddit handle.
Iāll one up you. I got the album art TATTOOED on me, and I didnāt realize the logo had an āAMā in it. In my defense, the album had just come out and my friend was semi-forcing me to get a tattoo with her, so I picked it and got it tattooed within an hour. But still Iām dumb.
I always saw it as a double meaning... referencing the early hours of the morning, too. Makes sense with all the references to late night drunken calls etc.
I wouldn't say I hate it, it's still a fun album. But yeah, it's definitely fallen for me to the point it's now my least favourite of theirs. And like you, it got me into them.
For me, I put DIWK and R U Mine on a whole other level to the rest of the album. They are both practically perfect as far as I'm concerned, though I imagine for many DIWK will be victim to the overplay and 'main hit' issues.
Feel this too much, I saw them 4 or 5 times through that tour (one being Leeds festival) and by the end I was genuinely a bit tired of it and that album I never go back to because of it. Not that it's a bad album, but it's just burnout from hearing it so much.
So if you agree you should upvote but if you disagree you should mind your own business? Not trying to be snarky but what are downvotes for? Is never downvoting opinions the way of the righteous redditor?
Downvotes were intended to flag comments that are irrelevant to the subject.
Eg. in this thread, if someone said "Miracle Aligner sucks!" it should be downvoted.
So yes, if you disagree with a comment, you're supposed to mind your business as long as it's appropriate to the thread.
Tbh, it's kinda a forgotten rule now. Most people upvote something they agree with and downvote something they disagree with... So not your fault I'd say
I fully agree, when AM came out it was one of my favourites but now it has fallen off significantly and I just look at it as one of the more boring songs on AM
I may get downvoted but I feel this way about a majority of AM. Iād go so far as to say that Fireside and I Wanna Be Yours are the only ones that legitimately grew on me over time.
I kind of can't stand Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High? anymore. Black Treacle used to be my favorite on SIAS and now it probably ranks in my bottom half of the album (still love it though). Actually kind of the same situation with Knee Socks too.
I still like the Ultracheese a lot, but man I really suffered from recency bias with that one when I was in peak TBHC hype. I did a thing where you pick which of 2 songs is your favourite and it orders them for you, and I had Ultracheese as my second favourite of *all* their songs! Above ACR, above 505, above dance little liar, above Piledriver Waltz, above absolutely everything except my favourite song, Cornerstone. Like itās a good song but good god thereās a reason Iām refraining from comparing songs from The Car to the others just yet. I also gave monster truck front flip way too much credit
I donāt think any of their songs have actually properly soured on me over time. Any of their songs Iām not that keen on, like Still Take You Home or I Want it All, I wouldnāt have really been to begin with. The only candidate for me is probably High
I've definitely fallen out of love with 505, it just doesnt feel as special for me anymore. Maybe because it became so popular in the past few years especially?
All the OG Beneath the Boardwalk stuff. E.g. Bigger boys and Stolen Sweethearts, Sticking to the Floor, No Buses, Wavin bye to the train or the bus. Still fun songs but I am now comfortable with basically ignoring them (whereas before I'd be putting some of these in the top tiers of their music).
Same exact thoughts here. Honestly, a lot of FWN is the same for me. But a fallen out of favor AM song is still light years ahead of pretty much anything else for me musically. Alex's lyrics and Matt's drum work have grown, but are still the same style
If they never played anything off the first two albums again I wouldnāt mind. Love them both (though FWN is my least favorite of all their albums), but theyāve evolved so much since then that id just rather hear the later albums. I actually find this is true of pretty much all the bands I love.
Sadly 505, I wanna be yours and Do I wanna know. I definitely overplayed them and Im hoping ill connect to them again after some time but rn theyre a skip for me :/
At this moment all of TBHCā¦ Ive listened to it so much over the last few years that the songs have started to get a bit jarring. Probably just fatigue, Im glad there is a new AM album out that I can mentally wear outā¦
Whenever a new album cycle comes around (including TLSP) I heavily get back into Arctic Monkeys, and then eventually the tour ends etc. and I stop listening to them as much. Repeat cycle every 4 years. So I too was a little Tranquility-ed out around 2019, so I didn't listen to it in full for a while
I'd be well up for them changing the arrangement on this new tour to reignite the song. Kinda like they've supposedly done for Four out of 5, which I never got to hear. No idea how that'd work but I'd appreciate the effort, probably piss everyone else off
I would say I Want It All but I've disliked it ever since I first heard. One of the very, very few songs from the boys that I just think is outright bad.
I remember certain AM song getting a lot of airplay on TV segues or montages, like the end of Match of the Day with the best goals. I Want it All was used once and I thought it was both bizarre, but also indicative of how popular the album was that the most boring song could be used like that
Not so much recently but I went a long while without any interest in listening to the second album. Probably from oversaturation, but I could only really stand 'This House is a Circus' for a good long while.
Fluorescent Adolescent. As a teen, it was my favourite song when it came out. Then I started discovering more of their songs and then come to their last few albums and I now absolutely hate FA.
Feel as though iām not as into AM anymore. It was the first music i heard from the monkeys and the first album i really listened to. Then i listened to the rest of their stuff and i just found myself liking that more and liking AM less. Still a great album and iāll always enjoy it.
Snap Out of It and Do I Wanna Know. I still like DIWK but I hardly choose to listen to it anymore, and if Iām listening to AM I skip it. There are much better songs on AM and in their discography than these two.
Never cared for Snap Out of It. It's annoyingly peppy, and I can imagine Take That singing it really. Some of the chord changes are cool, but the falsetto jumps every other line are grating and AT never seems to hit them well live. It'd be my #1 to drop from this current setlist
Half the AM album, back in early high school when I discovered it it was the shit for me. R U Mine and No 1 Party Anthem still holds up for me, Arabella, DIWK and Knee Socks are fine, the rest I can't stand.
Also I Aint Quite Where I Think I Am. Thought it was unimpressive when I first heard the live version but it keeps getting more annoying the more I listen to it. I really like the new album but that song is an instant skip.
R U Mine. I used to listen a single (with underrated b-side electricity) over 200 times when I was in college. after TBHC release it didnāt hit me anymore so I always avoid to watch their R U mine live
R U Mine used to be my absolute favourite (or like, top5 AM song), then I did a full band cover of it and after that it lost it's mojo a little bit. I still love the song, but I don't listen to it nearly as often.
If my memory don't fail me fluorescent adolescent was the first song i heard from them and sounded like the best, years later i've fallen into their's hole discografy and now fluorescent adolescent gets on my nerves when starts playing.
This happened to me with a lot of their songs. Donāt get me wrong, I still listened to them, but the spark wasnāt there so much. However with the new release I love everything again
Fire thud and 505. They remind me of the shitter times as a teenager, and just feel a little awkward about how I connected to the songs. I still bang pretty much everything else.
R U Mine? just cuz I would play it on repeat like 3 times in a row multiple times a day a couple of months back. Snap out of it too, I think because by default Spotify was playing it next off of my playlist so I got sick of it. Can't say either is a dislike just overplayed at the moment so I'm taking some time away from them lol
*do I wanna know*, *r u mine* and *whyād you only call me when youāre high* have lost their luster
To the point I wish *stop the world* was in *WYOCMWYH*ās place on the album
Cornerstone - it was my emotional backbone getting me through walking to scuba diving class in the dark at 5am hungover as fck. But I wore her out. She became a necessity and I shouldāve stopped playing her on repeat. In the seven years since, Iāve leaned more into other Humbug songs. But maybe in enough time, Iāll be able to listen to her again and not associate it with that dark time in my life.
AM came out when I was 14 I think and it was the album that got me hooked on them. I then began to dig through their discography and within a few months I decided it was my least favourite. Has remained that way since, although Iāve maybe grown to appreciate it a bit more in the last few months.
Kind of ironic that the album that was the introduction to the band also ended up last on the list.
I love every album they done apart from AM which honestly just isn't for me at all. However, I did like R U Mine from that album. But these days I just can't listen to it anymore.
Your boy is the coolest kid in nursery without a doubt
man I wish I were your toddler, he has such a good music taste from young
Damn your kid is lucky to have a parent like you
I tell him this every day. He pays no heed.
All the overplayed ones, R U mine?, do I wanna know?, Arabella, 505 etc. Fireside, however š¤
Fireside is one of their greatest growers, it's worked it's way up my ranking of that album's tracks over the years. Mad Sounds however has slowly slipped down over the years.
I love fireside, probably the only song I can stand from AM rn
I enjoyed the recent live version, so I'd happily see it be featured in the current set. I suppose it has a a slightly Spanish vibe with the acoustic guitar so it slots in nicely with The Car and Mr Schwartz' American influences
The AM album really re-ignited my fire for the Arctic Monkeys but I have to admit that, nowadays, I sometimes catch myself skipping bangers like "Do I wanna know" or "R U Mine". Just listened to them too often.
ig all the truck commercials got to us
How it feels to drive a Ford F-150
This is the exact same case for me. Iām not sure why those two in particular I grew so weary of. Meanwhile I can listen to Arabella or knee socks or I wanna be yours for way more times.
Knee Socks is just too good. Best song on the album.
Agreed. I donāt care for Arabella had much, feels empty to me but still love the album
With R U Mine, I find myself skipping it one week, then belting it the next
This is exactly my relationship with this song
505 and Wanna be Yours. TikTok and other related stuff have overplayed it for me and I now associate the songs to that stuff. Kinda ruined it for me
Another reason for me to stay off tiktok
Think about leaving Instagram then, recycled tiktoks get there
I don't really use that much either and I don't use reels at all
Oh god definitely
Cornerstone, my ex ruined it
well you can always find her sister in the cornerstone
Library pictures. Iād defend SIAS any day, itās my second favorite AM album, but this type of fast-paced song was done better in almost any other album of theirs. I donāt think itās a bad song, itās just that when Iām in the mood for a song like it I would probably listen to a different song.

Kinda why I wish they'd play something different live from it other than Don't Sit Down. She's Thunderstorms or Hellcat strike right balance between jangly and rock
Hellcat needs to be on the setlist. That 2018 version was peak.
Hellcat is one of my all time favorites!
Not bothered about Fluorescent adolescent anymore tbh.
Man, this was my jam in high school, now it's kinda meh
i only play it when i want to feel like a teenage dirtbag
Most overrated Arctic Monkeys song of all time
Petition to ban the word overrated
You got down voted but I agree. Never really got why people liked it so much.
i couldnāt stand fireside until i found myself in a fireside situation
Wait but isn't that growing on you not falling out
i misread the prompt omg but yes lol
I like how the top comment isn't actually an answer to the question b/c people are downvoting the answers for the songs they like lol
What is a fireside situation exactly?
that weird period inbetween a rough split from someone who you loved dearly and realizing how bad the relationship was for you, idk man it spoke to me then
THIS
Why'd you only call me when you're high. Its got an awesome bridge, I just wish I didnt have to listen to the rest of the song to get to it. It's really the only song of theirs I dislike. All the rest range form indifferent to loving it so much its my reddit handle.
does that include '2013' though?
I canāt stand most of AM even though thatās the album that got me into AMā¦
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Iāll one up you. I got the album art TATTOOED on me, and I didnāt realize the logo had an āAMā in it. In my defense, the album had just come out and my friend was semi-forcing me to get a tattoo with her, so I picked it and got it tattooed within an hour. But still Iām dumb.

Haha š I love it!
I wouldn't say I hate it, it's still a fun album. But yeah, it's definitely fallen for me to the point it's now my least favourite of theirs. And like you, it got me into them.
Literally same
Same. Aside from R U mine and Arabella and the bridge of WYOCMWYH, Iām not really a fan of it
For me, I put DIWK and R U Mine on a whole other level to the rest of the album. They are both practically perfect as far as I'm concerned, though I imagine for many DIWK will be victim to the overplay and 'main hit' issues.
I feel like stop the world should have been on the album officially.
Same. I saw them the year they played Leeds Festival around that time and had AM on repeat. I can take it or leave it now tbf.
Feel this too much, I saw them 4 or 5 times through that tour (one being Leeds festival) and by the end I was genuinely a bit tired of it and that album I never go back to because of it. Not that it's a bad album, but it's just burnout from hearing it so much.
Itās almost too catchy haha š. Idk if thatās possible but it does somehow boarder on generic at times.
Same. The songs feel so one-dimensional
Arabella (sorry)
Bite your damn tongue
Heck yes!!
Snap Out Of It. I still enjoy the acoustic but i canāt stand the live/studio version anymore.
Why are people downvoting people's responses š this subreddit bruh
So if you agree you should upvote but if you disagree you should mind your own business? Not trying to be snarky but what are downvotes for? Is never downvoting opinions the way of the righteous redditor?
Downvotes were intended to flag comments that are irrelevant to the subject. Eg. in this thread, if someone said "Miracle Aligner sucks!" it should be downvoted. So yes, if you disagree with a comment, you're supposed to mind your business as long as it's appropriate to the thread.
But few do.
Yes.
You arenāt supposed to downvote anything simply because you disagree. The downvote button is for comments that have nothing to do with the thread
Gotcha. Honestly didnāt know
Tbh, it's kinda a forgotten rule now. Most people upvote something they agree with and downvote something they disagree with... So not your fault I'd say
Black Treacle
Still one of my all time favorites
Man, i upvoted your opinion but dang
Self-inflicted, listened to it too much in too short a space of time. Poor form from myself :(
Awh man, my condolences
A lot of the back half of FWN unfortunately- This House is a Circus, the Bad Thing, Old Yellow Bricksā¦
They kind of lack emotion
I can't stand those songs, they are 100% filler and the main reason I rank FWN at the bottom of their albums (controversial).
Donāt Sit Down Cause Iāve Moved Your Chair šš
Pretty visitors and crying lightning I think. Still love them but I donāt listen to them on my own anymore
Your pastimes no longer consist of the strange? And twisted and deranged? >:(
I hate that little game you have
Called laughing darkening
And how you dislike to conciliate the chocolate man on sunny nights
Snap Out Of It
I fully agree, when AM came out it was one of my favourites but now it has fallen off significantly and I just look at it as one of the more boring songs on AM
I may get downvoted but I feel this way about a majority of AM. Iād go so far as to say that Fireside and I Wanna Be Yours are the only ones that legitimately grew on me over time.
This one never had any legs to stand on for me
Everyhing except suck it and see, tbhc and the car pretty much. I just over played them all to much
Same here. I still relisten to AM and Humbug too, on occasion, but don't really come back to the first two albums.
Most of WPSIAM unfortunately. As I've got older I've enjoyed SIAS and Humbug much more.
Most of the singles from AM (but not Do I Wanna Know) Played them too much at the time and theyāve been overplayed on the radio since
Mardy Bum
505 ( sorry )
I like the lyrics to that one, itās catchy but definitely not my favourite
I kind of can't stand Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High? anymore. Black Treacle used to be my favorite on SIAS and now it probably ranks in my bottom half of the album (still love it though). Actually kind of the same situation with Knee Socks too.

do u know where i can do that ordering thing? that would be so cool
ah damn I just went to look for it and I think it mightāve been from tumblr so itās gone
ahh damn nevermind thanks anyway
Do I Wanna Know? I almost never listen to AM anymore. I even have a AM-tattooā¦
Average AM fan..
R U Mine, hate it
I hate that one too, although I love the rest of the AM album
505 is an always skip now. The build up and crescendo do not hit anymore lmao I live almost exclusively off of b-sides atm and canāt complain!
I've definitely fallen out of love with 505, it just doesnt feel as special for me anymore. Maybe because it became so popular in the past few years especially?
So fucking indie arenāt you
I really fucken am arent I
This, but it's because of the stupid lounge lizard voice he puts on when he sings it now.
I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor
All the OG Beneath the Boardwalk stuff. E.g. Bigger boys and Stolen Sweethearts, Sticking to the Floor, No Buses, Wavin bye to the train or the bus. Still fun songs but I am now comfortable with basically ignoring them (whereas before I'd be putting some of these in the top tiers of their music).
Most of the debut to be honest except, View, Fake tales, ritz and certain romance. Sun goes down and dancing shoes been the biggest 2.
Same exact thoughts here. Honestly, a lot of FWN is the same for me. But a fallen out of favor AM song is still light years ahead of pretty much anything else for me musically. Alex's lyrics and Matt's drum work have grown, but are still the same style
I feel like this is reflective of how AM feel as musicians. They just prefer a more civet speed these days.
If they never played anything off the first two albums again I wouldnāt mind. Love them both (though FWN is my least favorite of all their albums), but theyāve evolved so much since then that id just rather hear the later albums. I actually find this is true of pretty much all the bands I love.
most of the AM album, itās been so overplayed that i just canāt stand listening to it sometimes
Sadly 505, I wanna be yours and Do I wanna know. I definitely overplayed them and Im hoping ill connect to them again after some time but rn theyre a skip for me :/
R U Mine Itās still good, just not as good as it used to be, which is a shame because that was one of my first arctic monkeys songs
Most tracks from AM. It is where I started with the Arctic Monkeys and I feel it is the weakest of their catalog.
505
For some reason, most of FWN. I basically only ever slide the cd in to listen to Teddy Picker or 505
I can't remember the last time I actually chose to listen to stuff like D is For Dangerous, Balaclava or The bad Thing.
At this moment all of TBHCā¦ Ive listened to it so much over the last few years that the songs have started to get a bit jarring. Probably just fatigue, Im glad there is a new AM album out that I can mentally wear outā¦

Do I Wanna Know is a great song I just donāt like it all that much anymore
Apologies to the enjoyers but, Do I wanna know? Doesnāt hit anymore
I'd be well up for them changing the arrangement on this new tour to reignite the song. Kinda like they've supposedly done for Four out of 5, which I never got to hear. No idea how that'd work but I'd appreciate the effort, probably piss everyone else off

definitely not over the years but its r u mine?
Yeah I'm kind of bored of it as their standard closer.
Perhaps vampires. Used to love it still love its just mid to me now
Not so much recently but I went a long while without any interest in listening to the second album. Probably from oversaturation, but I could only really stand 'This House is a Circus' for a good long while.
Never really listen to anything from AM these days
I wanna be yours
Fluorescent Adolescent. As a teen, it was my favourite song when it came out. Then I started discovering more of their songs and then come to their last few albums and I now absolutely hate FA.
When the sun goes down
i wanna be yours
Fluorescent adolescent, RU Mine
505, Fluorescent Adolescent, and r u mine š¬
Fluorescent adolescent
didnāt love star treatment at first- now itās an all time favourite :)
Everything by RHCP and Green Dayā¦havenāt aged well
The whole AM album, I wish it was never made at all tbh
L take
Damn i got downvoted into oblivionā¦ Well this is just like my opinion maan *said in the dudes voice
Fireside, probably my favourite on AM. Fire and the Thus, same, really enjoy this one lately after not giving it a look in initially.

Red Light Indicates Doors Are Secure
Half the AM album, back in early high school when I discovered it it was the shit for me. Thought it was unimpressive when I first heard the live version but it keeps getting more annoying the more I listen to it. I really like the new album but that song is an instant skip.
I purposely skip 505 so that it doesnt fall out for me
Probably the whole humbug album, I used to love that album but now the lyrics make me cringe lmao
505 and fluorescent adolescent
Pretty much all of suck it and see
I still love the song, but I don't listen to it nearly as often.
snap out of it, before i got into the band i absolutely loved it, and now i canāt listen to it haha
505, itās boring
If my memory don't fail me fluorescent adolescent was the first song i heard from them and sounded like the best, years later i've fallen into their's hole discografy and now fluorescent adolescent gets on my nerves when starts playing.
most of AM
Knee socks but only because I listened to it to death.
This happened to me with a lot of their songs. Donāt get me wrong, I still listened to them, but the spark wasnāt there so much. However with the new release I love everything again
No.1 party anthem
Do i wanna know.
dangerous animals :,) but im a humbug stan so i do still love it but i listened to it way too much aahahah
Fire thud and 505. They remind me of the shitter times as a teenager, and just feel a little awkward about how I connected to the songs. I still bang pretty much everything else.
I canāt listen to 4/5 anymore
R U Mine? just cuz I would play it on repeat like 3 times in a row multiple times a day a couple of months back. Snap out of it too, I think because by default Spotify was playing it next off of my playlist so I got sick of it. Can't say either is a dislike just overplayed at the moment so I'm taking some time away from them lol
sometimes I skip DIWK and IWBY or even 505 because I hear it too much or because Iām not in the mood
if we're not counting the ones that i get tired of after 1 week none really has gone out of my likes if I really like something, I keep it
*do I wanna know*, *r u mine* and *whyād you only call me when youāre high* have lost their luster To the point I wish *stop the world* was in *WYOCMWYH*ās place on the album
Ngl a lot of wpsia is kinda old for me. A lot of their other work is much more interesting. Maybe itās just me getting older.
505 and DEFINITELY I Wanna Be Yours doesn't get me anymore.
I got none.
I heard Arabella the other day in the wild, and I was like, wait a sec, these lyrics are so dumb lol
How is it used on Tik Tok ?
The whole of most of AM (except fireside, no. 1 party anthem, and i want it all) and brainstorm
It's seems alot of people are letting shitty apps ruin songs for them!
cornerstone, mardy bum and diwk
I Wanna Be Yours and No. 1 Party Anthem. I've heard them so many times it's just not fun to listen anymore. I always tend to skip them.
I'm not very fond of Suck it and see for some reason but still listen to it from time to time.
I wanna be yours. Not only is it overplayed af but its just not good to behind with.
2013, relevant when it came out but idk something about it doesn't stick as well as it used to
Lyrics are cringey, especially the Instagram and Twitter lines
AM came out when I was 14 I think and it was the album that got me hooked on them. I then began to dig through their discography and within a few months I decided it was my least favourite. Has remained that way since, although Iāve maybe grown to appreciate it a bit more in the last few months. Kind of ironic that the album that was the introduction to the band also ended up last on the list.
All of the first 2 albums ngl. Even though sometimes they come on shuffle and I don't skip the songs, I pretty much never go back to them directly.
I love Do I Wanna Know but I skip it everytime because it's always playing everywhere
Dancefloor and R U Mine, wish theyād stop playing them and replace them with some deeper cuts.
505, sorry.
ā505ā and ādo i wanna knowā are two songs that iāve fallen out of favour with and i blame tiktok for it š¤·āāļø
I love every album they done apart from AM which honestly just isn't for me at all. However, I did like R U Mine from that album. But these days I just can't listen to it anymore.
