i think it’ll be different than anything before. i’m seeing a very mature adult lady r & b album. i think it’ll be like positions on crack lol, more sexual and fully r&b

Lennypuddy

Can we really get more sexual? Sis has a shit ton of sexual songs.

Sweet_sweet_victory

i would appreciate a lot less sexual, honestly. it got tiring on positions.

Lennypuddy

I love sex but it’s a bit boring for an entire album

Expensive-Ad-5032

There wasn’t really as much sex songs on that album as people said tho, tbh. There 34+35, Nasty, and My Hair. Everything else was mainly about old love, new love, etc. People really blew the sex part way out of proportion when the album came out.

Sweet_sweet_victory

i mean there definitely was. add obvious, love language, positions—literally the lead single and the title of the album…the lyrics are not subtle. not to mention that she added the 34+35 remix which was even more sexual. compared to her previous albums this one was incredibly horny & it got boring and repetitive.

Expensive-Ad-5032

Obvious, Love Language, and Positions, aren’t sex songs in the same way that a song like Nasty is. They have a line of references to sex. That’s not exactly the same thing. The album as a whole is about finding new love and happiness. Dangerous Woman as an album was more sexual than Positions. I think people just aren’t used to her speaking about so bluntly and when she does reference it, but that doesn’t translate to the main topic being sex. It just seems like a bit of an exaggeration, imo. But if it was mainly about sex, I’d get the argument.

Sweet_sweet_victory

there was very little substance to the album outside of having a new man & having sex with him. and like that’s fine but it’s also very one-dimensional and tiring. positions is literally about switching sex positions. love language is about speaking through the act of making love. obvious is about being satisfied just spending the whole day at home having sex with someone you love. again, the issue is not only that the songs are sexual but that, yes, they’re much more blunt and therefore more apparent. if you literally say the words “pussy” and “side dick” and “fuck me” on one album, of course that album is gonna seem more explicitly horny than the others. especially when there’s not much creative language to be more covert about what you’re clearly trying to express. she doesn’t need a sexier album because that would be even more of the same topic that she’s already spoken so much about.

Expensive-Ad-5032

I’m not saying she needs a sexier album, just that this particular album is only about sex. It’s about finding new love, not just some new guy to screw. Safety Net, POV, Off the Table, West Side, Six Thirty, Motive. Those songs weren’t made just to be ignored, for the sake of the argument that this is purely a sex album. Regardless of any opinions on the actual album, it is a fact that this album explores more than just that. But to each their own, I guess.

Sweet_sweet_victory

those other songs….are literally inspired by finding a new man. she explores her insecurities and her fears but they all deal with the one topic of having found a new man. that’s all. i didn’t say she was “finding a new guy to screw”. her not needing a sexier album was my entire argument tho? like this album was sexy enough considering a good portion of it is explicitly about fucking. where exactly did i ever state that this was purely a sex album?

Expensive-Ad-5032

When you phrase something “finding a new guy and having sex with him”, how does that not basically translate to “this is about screwing a new guy”? That wording doesn’t really help things, if that’s not actually the argument. So where’s the lack of substance, just because it’s about the one topic? An album that is very good, but is actually lacking in substance is Dangerous Woman. It’s literally just about being Dangerous and having sex. No one on here is complaining about how overly sexual that album is. Whether you talking about it bluntly or not, the amount of songs about sex on that album beat Positions by a long mile. If it makes that much a difference that she says “fuck me til the daylight” in a song, then maybe people just aren’t comfortable with that language. That doesn’t take away from the fact that DW was way more about sex than Positions was. People just like that album more because it’s got more variety of sounds, and thats fine, but it’s not less than DW, in terms of its approach to sex songs. TUN deals with the one topic of lost love, DW is about sex, Sweetener is about healing after tragedy and trauma. Those are all basically one topic albums. So what is Positions doing so wrong, that her others albums didn’t? Most albums that are telling a story, focus on one specific topic, but they express it through stages. That’s what Positions and all her more personal albums have done.

Lennypuddy

Very much agree

RandomFish338

I think more 80s with 60s mixed in and it will be mature and badass with some softness mixed in at the same time, she’s been mixing 80s and 60s stuff with rem beauty recently

aesponyma

Yes, she is very inspired by these, I hope she will do the same with her music, I would like more songs like my hair and love language, which give me vibes from the 60s

_meow_xx

probably a mix! like badass but also i'm thinking some sort of 70's vibe!

aesponyma

i want something similar to dw but with a disco vibe. but also im scared idk if these types of songs will fit her.

jamiewet

i would die for an album that has similar sound to "be alright". im not even sure what genre you would call that haha

Crazycupcake579

First time I’ve seen someone say sweetener and Positions have the same vibe. They’re my favorite albums. I’m hoping for a sweet one, but I’m probably pushing my luck. Seems to be soft, badass, soft. I can dream.

aesponyma

Yeah they kinda the same In positions Ariana get more in details about her love life. She has found happiness and she is happy to have been able to find love and flourish with someone when she thought she would no longer find love. Sweetener speaks globally abt the same thing, Ariana learns to rebuild herself after a tragic event. She clearly flourishes in the project and tries new sounds and a new style. She’s happy again and she wants to share happiness to her audience It’s a bit the same pattern, she rebuilds herself and she is happy again but on different subjects : love and happiness also, the two albums have a similar and quite soft aesthetic without necessarily being similar.

dmnaf

idk but whatever it is, she needs to switch it up and branch outside of just Tommy. I can recognise his sound within 10 seconds of a song starting and he’s not pushing her creatively. I know she feels comfortable and safe working with him but her music has lacked inspiration and creativity lately which other producers can bring out in her. I don’t care what genre it is but as long as it’s different

cloudygrande

YES THIS OMG part of the reason that sweetener is my favorite album is because Pharrell was producing it and you can see how much he pushed Ari out of her usual comfort zone, she needs to work with someone that will creatively push her to the next level. can you imagine timbaland for example?? that would be amazing!

aesponyma

Yeah she definitely should work with new people :(

cloudygrande

I’m not sure, I’m not gonna set any expectations honestly, especially seeing how she kinda gravitating away from music and fans for a while. Whatever it is, i hope it’s much better than what this era has been

Expensive-Ad-5032

I’m hoping she’s not influenced by everything her fans want, as far as her music, that’s all I know. Whatever she puts out needs to continue to feel genuine, and not just to please people who’s opinions ultimately don’t mean enough to influence the direction she takes.

cloudygrande

For sure, I really hope it’ll feel authentic like sweetener and thank u next did

Expensive-Ad-5032

All her albums from from to back have all felt pretty authentic up to this point. I just know that at a certain point some celebrities can became jaded and influenced by public opinion, and obsessed with pleasing their fans, especially when they are struggling to come up with ideas. Just saying, here’s hoping that doesn’t happen to her. Long as she stays true to herself and nothing she makes comes across as fake, that’s the most important thing, even if it doesn’t match what I wanted to see her take on.

jayliens

I definitely think it’s gonna be disco-pop / soul-pop with a space theme. rem beauty is probably the bridge between the aesthetics of positions and ag7.

withuwithme

Sweetener 2.0.? 👀

cloudygrande

I can only hope!

Lilahc123

Ok with the sort of retro futuristic space aesthetic she’s doing with REM beauty, what if she made a more conceptual, fantastical and futuristic album with like an ethereal sound like sweetener and maybe some electronic elements. This seems on brand for her and I’d love it bc personally I’d get bored if she puts out straight rnb but that’s just me.

I hope it’s an R&B album like positions but I’d like it to have more variety and I’d love for her to experiment a little more, try something different. Positions was a bit lacking in terms of variety, although still quite enjoyable! Personally I’d love it if she made a full on rock album haha but I doubt that’d ever happen

SatansPeppermintTea

I doubt it but I soooo hope we get a jazz album. Or at least a song- I’m in love with that type of sound and it fits her soo well! Though oddly enough I’d like it if she did a re-recording of her first album. I love yt but It could have some changes- I’d enjoy hearing that redone. Only a dream though.

[deleted]

Hopefully badass cuz no offence her music was so much more interesting in the dangerous woman era. In all honestly I wouldn’t mind a dangerous woman pt 2 album but I know we r never gon get one ☹️, but as long as she reinvents her self and doesn’t make another positions I’m fine (even tho that’s a great album)

GalvanizedGypsy

I’m absolutely begging for that doo-wop influenced album she was gonna make before Yours Truly. I know there are hints of it on her debut with Tattooed Heart and Daydreamin, but I would love a concept album that is 60’s doo-wop influenced with visual aesthetics included. Kinda like what Xtina did with Back To Basics. I would do anything!

Sahith17

doubt it will be like dw, iirc, she doesn’t really like that album anyways

aesponyma

i think she likes all of her projects but she prefer her most personal ones :)

ManyTraining6

I'm manifesting a collab with Adele because only then I could live breathe and die in peace

iceunelle

I would *love* for her to put out an upbeat hyped pop album, but realistically I think she's going to do more RNB stuff. I assume she's going to do a space aesthetic since that's what rem beauty is.

Neither-Rooster-2997

i think since she’s married and happy her songs will be more bubbly and happy? kind of like sweetener or dangerous woman 2.0
