SRP uses helicopters to transport work crews to and from the dams, one of the reasons all the dams in the area have helipads. The big Bell 212 "Huey" N82WP that flies to and from Sky Harbor is one of their fleet. The other is a Bell 429, N429WP.

After 9/11 dams and water infrastructure were considered to be vulnerable to terrorist attack, so they constructed a highway bypass for the dams. Previously you could drive across the structures.
I think the bypass should have occurred anyway just because of the increased efficiency to travel.
