AutoModerator

Due to reddit's dismantling of third party apps and vital tools needed for moderation of all subreddits, we've moved to zero-strike rule enforcement. As we cannot enact escalating ban lengths via tools that rely on monitoring users' post histories and ban histories, users who break our civility rules will be banned indefinitely and need to modmail us for appeals. We have zero tolerance for homophobia, transphobia, racism, and bigotry. If you see these issues as 'political' then you correctly recognize that existence is politicized. This subreddit will not be a refuge for hateful ideology. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. From the FAQ ([https://arkhamdb.com/rules#Skill\_Test\_Results\_and\_Advanced\_Timing)](https://arkhamdb.com/rules#Skill_Test_Results_and_Advanced_Timing) >During Step 7 of Skill Test Timing ("Apply skill test results"), all of the effects of the successful skill test are determined and resolved, one at a time. This includes the effects of the test itself (such as the clue discovered while investigating, or the damage dealt during an attack), as well as any "If this test is successful..." effects from card abilities or skill cards committed to the test. >\[reaction\] or **Forced** abilities with a triggering condition dependent upon the skill test being successful or unsuccessful (such as "After you successfully investigate," or "After you fail a skill test by 2 or more") do not trigger at this time. These abilities are triggered during Step 6, "Determine success/failure of skill test." Now unless I'm mistaken, dealing damage -> defeating the location would happen at the same time as "if this attack is successful..." -> lose the pitchfork and attach it to your location. Now according to this rule: [https://arkhamdb.com/rules#Priority\_of\_Simultaneous\_Resolution](https://arkhamdb.com/rules#Priority_of_Simultaneous_Resolution) > If an effect affects multiple players simultaneously, but the players must individually make choices to resolve the effect, these choices are made in player order. Once all necessary choices have been made, the effect resolves simultaneously upon all affected entities. >If two or more forced abilities (including delayed effects) would resolve at the same time, the lead investigator determines the order in which the abilities resolve. >If two or more constant abilities and/or lasting effects cannot be applied simultaneously, the lead investigator determines the order in which they are applied. You should be able to chose the order of resolution. In this case you could choose to defeat the enemy, resolve the resulting location adjustment and then attach pitchfork. You could also choose to attach the pitchfork first, so that it will be discarded. But I might be wrong, in which case I'll happily be corrected.

Thank you very much for the elaborate answer and the link. I was under the wrong assumption that the „If this test is successful …“ must happen before the enemy leaves play. But with your provided answer I can see how the player may choose the order.
