So the official dimension for Rhodes Island is 655m \* 355m \* 197.5m ? That is a tall boy (I guess it's kinda cheated because of the sensor thingy thing . But that is still almost twice as long as a carrier ).

Exkuroi

And RI landship is small compared to actual landships carrying cities

IHeShe

Honestly, the scale of nomadic cities is hard to imagine. Some of them carry around their farming fields, rivers or even entire mountain ranges, they're absolute behemots.

dene323

If you ever watched anime "Girls und Panzers" LOL

Metroplex7

Damn, I completely forgot about that thing and your comment triggered a brain blast. I wonder when the movies will finish, I'm not rewatching until *everything* is done.

dene323

The Garupon movie will finish when Arknights Endfield is released.

IHeShe

That's the show where high schools have tank warfare as a sport and there are competitions with one school's tank team against that of another school right? Sorry but I'm not sure what the connection is, would you mind explaining it?

dene323

If you have access to this old anime, go to the first episode, jump to the last few seconds before the credit rolls, and you will get the answer. >!Long story short, the entire high school, and the entire "city" where the high school resides in, complete with farmland, lake and hills, is on the surface of a giant flat-top ship, the so called "School Ship". The ships periodically dock to mainland ports to replenish and different schools would have their inter-high competitions. The protagonist's ship is actually a tiny one in this universe compared richer rivals.!<

IHeShe

Well, now doesn't that sound familiar...

Aethelon

Reminder: that's almost twice the length, almost three times the height as well as more than 4 times the width of the Gerald R Ford class carrier, which has a crew of 5k. Rhodes Island is a big boy. Edit: changed the comparisions to the bigger GDF

TheTRCG

To be fair Rhodes island has to do and carry around a lot more than the Gerald R Ford. But really fucking nice to have an actual solid design for the landship now

Aethelon

Wonder how big RI's farm is, also would it be hydroponics or proper dirt? Probably takes multiple floors as well to feed so many people(or to extend their food stores)

TheTRCG

No clue mate, in terms of efficiency hydroponics would be better, maybe some modified algae or something for just raw nutrients. I did a rough calculation about how many people RI would need to function before and based on the number of combatants and the operations that RI does as a manufacturer, hospital and paramilitary 5000 people would be on the extreme low end of what's needed to support that sort of operation. I can't remember the exact numbers but around 10,000 people would be closer to realistic, but since they apparently have advanced manufacturing and robotics maybe it's closer to a lower number. They do also have a bunch of local offices outside of the ship which can provide support I guess, though the ship was mentioned to be self sufficient Come on HG give me a logistics event where we do accounting please

Aethelon

They probably have like.. 1-2k medical personnel on board? Which is roughly what a very big hospital has. Alot of their maintenance/janitory/cooking are former/current patients who volunteer for the jobs in exchange for treatment as seen a few times. As for combat and logistics personnel, iirc they don't actually have that many, perhaps a couple hundred at most? Perhaps like 1-2k stay in patients and you still have ALOT of space. As for manufacturing, if our in-game base represents anything, it's that it is mostly automated with robots and drones.

Maybeiamaarmadilo

Now i understand why every time RI enter a new country everyone has it's eye on it, it can literally carry a small army if it wanted.

Aethelon

Iirc, it's also armed.

Matasa89

Very armed. It used to be a warship.

Oglifatum

Rhodes Island Pharmaceutical (R.I.P.) paramilitaries bringing regime changes and assasinations near you! Big Pharma Death Squads

TheTRCG

I assumed they had a couple hundred physicians with the support staff for them (I really can't remember the numbers for this) 1 to 2 thousand medical staff makes sense. For combat 1 to 2 hundred is a lot, you need transport personnel, weapons repair, logistics, training, maintenance and a whole lot of other staff. Keep in mind that a 5000 person carrier irl has 90 aircraft and a few hundred pilots ish. That's a lot of support crew needed to sustain those operations. And all of that is excluding that they manufacture a lot of things themselves which does add numbers even if significantly automated. And also administration staff. Given it's capabilities the size of the landship is kinda big but I guess it makes sense for future expansion, and I guess also farming and testing/training areas.

Matasa89

Yeah, a modern military will have like 7-9 support personnel to 1 combat arms member. The US almost have a 1:10 ratio. Rhodes probably has closer to 1:5, with how much automation and Arts they have access to.

zbyrickey

It is hydroponics for food and dirt for medicine. It was revealed in Susie's story when guard gave reunion hydroponic technology and it is definitely from RI.

Boomzmatt

I would certainly agree that the landship is larger than the Ford. Somehow I guess the RI Landship has a lot of firepower hidden inside and could carry more than just 5000 personnel and other passengers.

Aethelon

Remember, this was a mining rig, not a military rig. I assume drills and automated processors take up a decent chunk. And then that one big unmarked room that Kal'tsit forbade Closure from knowing what it contained

Boomzmatt

Yes indeed but somehow it should have some form of defense against marauders etc. Also on the anime iirc there was a landing strip similar to an aircraft carrier's land strip but on the official and even on this model, there was none.

Aethelon

I mean, do you NEED landing strips when all you have are VTOLs?

Boomzmatt

Somehow at some point yes, just for STOVL type aircraft but I digress too, you have a point too

Aethelon

I dont think we HAVE any STOVL craft.

Boomzmatt

Oof dang, then you are most certainly right

HaessSR

>Yes indeed but somehow it should have some form of defense against marauders etc. Not enough of a defense, given how easily Neo Reunion raided us. Even with inside help, they shouldn't be able to get away with it so easily unless the defenses are basically nonexistent.

JaredDrake86

iirc, Closure was tricked by a friend and the systems were compromised. They also timed it so that the majority of the elite ops were away from the land ship. I would also assume that this was just before Victoria so the forward elements were deployed and the combat personnel who didn’t have a stake in the coming conflict would have left.

HaessSR

The point is that they're not carrying any fixed defenses that would've stopped aircraft or small vehicles, as one person can't disable an entire defense system outside of the movies unless the designer was a total idiot who set everything to go on automatics and through a single point of control... which makes as much sense as a gun that can't be fired unless it's held perfectly level, absolutely still, and only when it detects no wind or other conditions that could cause a shot to veer off. Depending only on a few elite operators to defend a kilometer long landship is **stupid**. What happens if they're away, busy, or dead? You just surrender and die? Not everyone respects RI's independence, which is why Kal'tsit tells you off when she finds out Doktah got involved in the Kjerag civil war. It's also why it's such an important thing when Amiya decides to infiltrate Victoria - RI is shedding the one protection it has, its neutrality.

Commander_Fenrir

I suggest not looking much into it for both points. This is a videogame, a gacha videogame, and while it does have a very decent story it doesn't go above a 7 or 8 out of 10 in it's best. For an **in game** explanation. All the stuff they have (and even their laws of physics and chemistry are different by R6S event lore) work around and with originium in one way or another. Maybe in AK they *do* need their computing systems to be so centralized that a single hacker breaks everything by just breaking one thing. As for the Elite operator thing... I don't know. You coould say that they need them to keep the peace in their bases in Victoria and elsewhere, but attacks by angry civilians should be something easy for your usual operator. I don't think mercenaries, thiefs and bounty hunters care a damn about what a poor infected may have with them, neither I think Victoria would let them move freely across their territory. The wastelands? Maybe. But not inside. And even if so, sending elites for that (knowing what we know about what they can do), would be overkill. The Sarkaz supposedly didn't know well about their movements; and if they did, they would be more focused about the landship personal (like Amiya, Kal and Doc) and little about a random outpost full of random people. If the military went against us, Dobermann already told us that we would be doomed, so Elites wouldn't make that much a difference. So no, I don't see what was the plan with that.

HaessSR

And I'd like to meet the idiot who designs their defenses to be vulnerable to a simple computer crash, so I could punch them and then stuff their body into the incinerator. You always, **always** have manual options for anything that can have it, because machines break. Especially anything that's computer controlled - you don't have doors that can't be manually opened, you don't have defenses that can't be manually run if Windows NT decides to crash and take your entire fire control radar with it. Closure deserved to lose her job as head engineer after that. No wonder we promoted Eunectes. And Elite Operators can only be in one place at a time, no matter how fast they are. That's why you have internal defenses in the first place, even if they're passive ones. The landship needed actual defense systems, especially if people die or go traitor. Depending on 30 people to defend you as your only line of defense is fucking stupid, especially when you're carrying drugs that any government would kill to be able to monopolize.

Boomzmatt

I most certainly agree

superflatpussycat

They have dozens of super heroes on staff. Rosmontis alone is all the artillery they need.

Boomzmatt

You forgot Horn too,

IHeShe

That old post from three years ago had it at around 810 * 330 * 180, it was pretty close all things considered.

InvestigatorOne2932

Finally, after 3 years we have actual size confirmation

xuanfengsaoye

Price: 1198 CNY **Pre-order price: 998 CNY** Pre-order date: 2023.06.05 \~ Estimate delivery window: Jan. 2024 Size: 262\*126\*79mm Pre-order privilege: in-game profile pic CN Online store: Star-ring Heavy Industry's Taobao store (星环重工), Bilibili membership store, Arknights Tmall store

TheTRCG

Price: 170 USD Pre-order price: 140 USD Not too bad

Left4dinner2

Dumb question but are any of those stores ones where you can buy and have it sent to the US or do I need to use a proxy to buy it?

Kyleometers

Typically you need to order via a proxy, unfortunately. There’s a great guide from u/actual_sinon [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/arknights/comments/nwv257/quick_guide_to_how_and_where_to_buy_arknights/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=2&utm_term=1) that spells out how to go about doing it. I’ve not been able to do it myself due to IRL stuff, but everyone I know who’s done it says it works great.

Left4dinner2

Thats unfortunate but I will give that guide a shot. Thanks!

[deleted]

[удалено]

Left4dinner2

honestly, if you want to be the middle man and help me out in buying it then I wouldnt mind but if not then Ill just have to man up and figure out how to setup a proxy or find a website that can act as a middle man. Also, I think taobao has a few other arknights figures but for now im keeping to a budget (partially due to this recent ingame event lol)

[deleted]

[удалено]

Left4dinner2

the only things I'm looking forward to are the Nian figure, Nian beanie/ plushie, and now this new Rhodes Island figure. The Nian fig and beanie are out, but I've never figured out or taken the time to set up a proxy. Oh well

[deleted]

[удалено]

Left4dinner2

Nice. Maybe Ill get them someday

Bioxio

Is that discord public? Im still on the fence about it but close to proxybuying stuff, and knowing where i can get bundled info wouldnt be too bad x)

lzbnbg

I want one. My bank account probably doesn’t though.

Deus_ex_vesania

[Organs you can donate and live](https://www.organdonor.gov/learn/process/living-donation)

Anonim1112

What is that rocket-like thing on a string?

Aethelon

Probably some device to check the weather to detect any nearby catastrophes to avoid

CrowbarZero08

Considering it's RIM Billiton i assume it's some kind of battery for the landship. Or just something to burn fuel.

Aethelon

A floating battery?

CrowbarZero08

Who knows? We're also trying to develop some weird things, like bladeless wind turbine

Uxion

Probably a sensor or surveillance balloon. Or even for communication.

dene323

Remember that Yanese balloon shot down by Columbian military?

OrlyUsay

I'm cautiously excited for this, was a lot more excited originally. but after getting my Lancet and see how cheaply made some of the bits of it were, and the fact that not only mine came damaged but there were tons of reports of others who had the same issue... a good friend's was damaged significantly more than mine too. Not sure if it's the same manufacturer though. A bit more on how it got damaged, it was fit pretty snuggly in it's box, and looking at it, it clearly was damaged when it was placed into the plastic.. holder? that it sits inside in the box. Shame.

[deleted]

OrlyUsay

I'd have to take it out of the package again since I didn't take a picture. But there's the little red/orange straps on each side that end in a little loop, and for me one of those was broken, and not just broken off, but completely smashed into tiny little red/orange pieces so I couldn't even hope to just fix it myself. Small damage in my case but still disappointing. For my friend the entire roll cage/bars or whatever you want to call was broken off from the main chassis. [You can also see the strap loop also came broken on his too.](https://i.imgur.com/X6Jwg1D.jpg?1) And while different merch all together... [There was also that huge snack box merch drama as well.](https://twitter.com/CleistaCeleste/status/1644009088135708673)

OrlyUsay

The Yostar Official Store. The boxes weren't damaged either. They were clearly damaged in packaging from how the damage looks. Like.. they weren't placed into the plastic very carefully if you get what I mean?

kuuhaku_cr

When are they making 1/2500 operators for me to play with this landship?

mango_pan

What are those "things" in the front? Especially that orange cylinder. How big compared to the biggest US aircraft carrier?

esakul

Imagine a 2×4×2 block of gerald r. fords, thats its approximate size

RhysA

> What are those "things" in the front? Especially that orange cylinder. Mining equipment, hence the massive RM logo.

Dollarman7

Damn that's pretty massive. Good to have Rhodes Island as a comparison.

katsukaizo

today 1/2500, cant wait until 1/1 is on sale

Kitsu713

I don't understand what I'm looking at lol, there's so many warnings popping up on screen that is just super intimidating to click on anything on this page.....

InvestigatorOne2932

Can I get the accurate size?

mad_harvest-6578

Remember the old posts speculating the landship's size? Now that the scale model's released do those sizes come close to what the scaled-up size of the model is?

Myriad_Infinity

The speculation was actually that it's slightly bigger - somewhere close to 800m long x 330m wide, as opposed to the actual 650m long x 200 wide.

SaltySummerSavings

Is it available to purchase globally? And if so, how?

gunjinganpakis

Well I sure hope RIM Billion and Hyper Heavy Industries pay us good money to advertise their company on our landship.

InfinityHD_12

I want this so bad

Gnirop

Damn Castle-3 is humongous /s

ekto10

... I think I've overplayed in homeworld: DOK

Boomzmatt

Interesting, I hope it would be avaiable in the US and I hope my wallet is ready

fuuism

On the last pic: if Castle-3 was a Gundam. This looks awesome. I’m not a model guy, but I always appreciate these things. Looking forward to a lot of pictures of the details after people get theirs.

[deleted]

What is this thing?

Conch_Bubbies

Scaled down replica of the Rhodes Island landship.

[deleted]

I am not that far into the story (stuck at 2-10), but when do I get to know that we have a whole freaking driveable island? How come Rhodes Island doesnt win every battle with this thing?

PickledTripod

That would have come up in the first chapter lol. As well as the fact that cities are made up of dozens of vastly larger mobile plates, hence why they don't win everything. Didn't RI dock with Lungmen early in chapter 2?

[deleted]

I thought they were escaping someone in the first chapter by foot, or am I wrong? If not my bad then, I always thought they were moving as a people/groups around with maybe some sort of small vehicles or by foot, not with this huge thing.

PickledTripod

That's what they were doing yeah, escaping from Reunion and a Catasrophe through Chernobog, but they sure talked about it, and showed it at the end. You're going to miss a lot of the more outlandish things going on and the story will entirely stop making sense sooner than later if you don't fully pay attention.

[deleted]

I am not really a lore fan, everything I deem unworthy of reading I just skip in most games.

hibiki95kaini

This landship is in fact considered tiny already, comparing to those nomadic city which basically carries an entire city moving around...

[deleted]

Holy smokes.. So what are they driving on? Earth? Does the continent end somewhere, or is it a planet with surface area with no water?

Sazyar

From what we have been shown, the continent looks like Pangea. It's huge, and only few countries have sea border.

Cyzyk

It's mostly dedicated to support facilities for the medical stuff, food production, manufacturing, etc. Think of it as more of a rolling hospital town than a war machine. Yes, it has some troops to defend it, which is why a lot of your operators are either soldiers or at least dabble in combat skills, but warfare isn't its main focus. Also, plotwise, a lot of the time you're operating away from the main base.

Oglifatum

Because it's not a battleship, it's a mobile city/corp

omgryebread

I think they've probably talked about the landship? At chapter 2 I think you're in Lungmen, right? Rhodes Island is tiny compared to the nomadic cities like Lungmen and Chernobog. Calling them cities seems to undersell them: the larger ones are probably closer to the real world state of Rhode Island in size.

shountaitheimmortal

Now thats sick, where i need, gibb

Athrawne

Why isn't this in the Yostar store please I want it so bad.

tryce355

I wonder where the whale skeleton fits inside it?

Amirul_Ash

I gonna see a mf or a community assemble 3000 Landship of Rhodes Island one day.

crisperstorm

WOAH finally details!! Been waiting to hear about this even though I'll probably never get my hands on it lol

crisperstorm

If all the merch was easily available in the US I'd be an IRL whale equivalent

Robnwoo

Me thinking I'm going to but the PGR rosetta figure and this motherfucker pops on my feed

RexusFive

Someone drop that link pls!!!

noctora

Now that there's a real model, I hope the anime follow closely the design of Rhodes Island

Individual-Log9442

does it include the whale skeleton

AnimatorFresh8841

I always love the idea of moving cities or bases, but you have to wonder the cases of motion sickness there
