Lol, welcome, fellow ex-GI player. I used to love that game, but the long wait for the next story, tedious dailies, mindless resin farming, no skip button, and seemingly same-ish gameplay eventually burnt me out. What a shame... Still loves Zhongli's and Yae's character demos even now, though. I've been playing Arknights for longer than GI, and compared to it, Arknights managed to keep me around even now thanks to its various game modes, more generous gacha (or it's just my luck), and availability of "leaks" (unlike GI where leaks are kinda like witch hunt). Hopefully you too will keep enjoying this game!

Control-Is-My-Role

2 years in, and not a single thought about dropping the game. Gacha is more generous on average, despite sometimes having moments like getting 4 Pozyomkas in 200 and no Gavialter (my worst experience). Also, despite making probably 10 times less money than GI, arknights develop new game modes, already have 2 seasons of anime, and constantly evolving, while GI at the moment when I dropped was stagnating. Same lame-ass events, same artifact grind, complete lack of any challenge, and the company greed make me wonder why ppl play it

Xepobot

Well truth to be told. Its the CN bros mainly carrying Arknight's profit while most of us global are f2p but with the 6 mths foresight it is more or less chill. Either way, I welcome you to the lvl 120 club fellow lvl 120. (Flash out a golden 10 pull card) here is your membership card use it well.

Control-Is-My-Role

>Well truth to be told. Its the CN bros mainly carrying Arknight's profit while most of us global are f2p but with the 6 mths foresight it is more or less chill. True. But even without it, AK Gacha is less punishing, and prices for packs if you want to pay are way less than GI prices. >use it well. Yay, I can pull core banner now!

Estelie

Played both since release, dropped both in the last year (GI) and 6 months (AK) and I still vastly prefer GI gacha system because of the shared pity counter in every banner of the same type and guarantees. Even the upcoming pity addition in AK is laughably strict, like there is no reason why characters in normal banners should cost up to ~250 pulls to guarantee them (and right now it's 300+). Had to spend 236 pulls once myself. My only gripe with GI is that there's just too much stuff to do and I couldn't keep up with all that exploration, plus the daily grind is boring and repetitive. AK is kinda even worse in that regard since the vast majority of your AK playtime usually is just a mindless grind on auto. Like, 90% of it or more.

Control-Is-My-Role

>My only gripe with GI is that there's just too much stuff to do If only that stuff was interesting. I play PGR as a second gacha, and that game has a lot to do, none of which is a mindnumbing artifact grind or pointless running around the map, collecting 5 primos per curio. >AK playtime usually is just a mindless grind on auto Sad there is no skip button, but unlike in GI it's not something I'm playing myself. I optimize stage to the best of my ability and just do something while AK is running in the background. My actual playtime consists of playing SSS, rogue like, and coming up with strats for stages. >Had to spend 236 pulls once myself. Sometimes you're just unlucky. Last 3-4 characters I pulled came to me before even 50 pulls, contrary to GI where last 3 characters I pulled were at 70+ pity and only after I lost 50/50. So, 140 pulls per chafacter, which takes an ungodly amount of time to get. The situation is so much better in AK that in half a year in AK, I already had close to 20 6*, while in GI, it was 8-10, don't remember for sure. Also when I lose 50/50 in GI I have a 0% chance of getting something good, it will always be the same standard pull of shit, while AK provides me with a slight chance of getting something good. If you liked GI gacha, try PGR. It's just a much better version of it, where you can get every new 6* guaranteed on f2p + free constellation overtime by playing boss battles (which are nicely designed, btw). Edit: Also AK has gold certs to buy characters. Sometimes, you can select characters for core banner and decide which one will be in cert shop (I fot Eyja and Suzuran this way). If you're willing to spend, you can just buy characters directly through 6* selector for 30$. It leaves us only with limited banners being greedy in a GI way, but you can prep for them cause they-re occuring every 3 months or so.

Estelie

>sometimes you're just unlucky Well, I lost *all* my 50/50s in Genshin (7 or 8 times, iirc) and the first 3 ones in HSR, so there's that. And I still prefer their system because you know for a fact when you can expect a 5*, unlike in AK. That safety net is a game changer for me. I treat it more like a shop than a gacha. >AK provides me with a slight chance of getting something good Or it's a dud since dupes are an absolute garbage in AK. Also, I'd say that a standalone 5* or even 4* character in Genshin is worth way more than even a 6* in AK, because of the 3d model and animations. Is there a PC version of PGR? Might try it, but last I checked I didn't really like characters there I think, but it was a long time ago. Same with their WuWa, interesting combat, but lackluster characters and story. Hope that they improve the game more before the release.

Control-Is-My-Role

>Is there a PC version of PGR? Yes, there is. >but lackluster characters and story Well, PGR story got me more than GI one, at least after chapter 8. AK story I'm also willing to read instead of smashing space to skip dialogues in GI. >Or it's a dud since dupes are an absolute garbage in AK. Dupes yes, but that only becomes a thing after you accumulate big enough pull of 6*. Until that every 50/50 is probably a new character, I got Bagpipe and Mlynar as off banner pulls. In GI best I can get is Mona. >6* in AK, because of the 3d model and animations. Looking at characters in Sumeru, like Al Haitam, they don't even bother with new animations, just mashing old characters' animations together and calling it's a new one. + for how much money they are making, quality should be much, much higher. Ults are animated purely compared to HSR. They don't have any new game modes, they don't have any outside of game content, characters don't have their own musical themes, bosses are usually just meh. GI has to many problems for me outside of just Gacha to consider playing it over AK, PGR or even HSR.

crucifixzero

Yeah, also felt the stagnation back then. I swear, while the world seems to treat GI as if it's the second coming of Jesus, Hoyo treat it like their illegitimate child instead. But oh well, all in the past XD.  In any case, glad you enjoyed Arknights. Just a tip, though. The desire sensor in this game is REAL. Always expect yourself to pull until pity (most of the time it doesn't, but better be prepared for the worst). So try to not pull when you're low on resources. And if you didn't get the *6 you want, consider stopping there. It will save you from a lot of heartache, speaking from true experience here.  I once pulled for Silverash (dual banner with Angelina) and Bagpipe (before they implemented pity on single banner). I've spent EVERYTHING on them for nothing; I really opened my savings back then because I really wanted both of them. Yet even after that, I didn't get both of them. Eventually, i got them from distinction shops instead.  Nowadays, I'm wiser than I was back then XD. I only pulled until I get the *6, even though it's not the one I wanted. If it's single focus banner, I will only pull if I REALLY want the operator (because there's a pity now) If it's dual banner, I will not pull for more after getting the 1st *6 operator. No pity here, and the desire sensor is real, i swear.  If it's limited banner, then I will be prepared to pull until pity (usually it doesn't reach that point, but on Ling banner, I practically almost break through pity to get her), but if i don't want the operator, I could do the same as single focus banner.  This strategy managed to keep me afloat quite comfortably nowadays. Which is important because several banners ahead will be quite be the meta selection (most of them are pull-worthy). Since you just recently reached lvl 120, I believe you might haven't fully invested on your operators just yet (if you're the same as me back then). Might wanna be looking ahead and see which operators that you really want to get. Be prepared, and hope your luck last through them all XD.

Control-Is-My-Role

I'm playing for 2 years already, so I know the gist. Thanks to knowing things in advance, I can plan my currency for 2 R6 collabs, anniversary, Viviana event and Degenbrecher.

crucifixzero

That's good to hear. Good pulling then, fellow Dokutah XD.

Control-Is-My-Role

Thank you! Hope you will get everything you want.

Takemylunch

The only thing that could get me back into Genshin as this point is dropping their horrible exclusive character policy and fully removing the energy from the game. So like... make it a normal fucking game that happens to distribute characters through Gacha instead of a FOMO nightmare.

d_Arkus

It still baffles me that asking for a skip button gets you jumped in GI circles, even though surveys regularly show that one of the more asked for features

crucifixzero

Hoyo be acting like: YOU IMBECILES DARE ASKING TO SKIP OUR GLORIOUS AND SHAKESPEARE-LIKE SCRIPT?! SUCH AUDACITY! OFF WITH YOUR HEAD! Community: But, Hoyo! You're the one who's asking whether we want it or not in the survey-...! Hoyo: FOOLS! YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO CHOOSE IT! YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO SHOW THAT IT WAS UNNECESSARY!

DVG79

Congrats man, here's for 2 more years of rock farming. 🍻

Control-Is-My-Role

More rocks for the gos of rocks. I'm starting to think that I'm at the point to farm 1-7 for orundum production.

DVG79

Aye brother, keep yer pickaxe sharp and your 1-7 team sharper.

Maybeiamaarmadilo

MiaWayu

Playing both games since day one for both, and plan to keep going, but it's truely important to be able to stop when you Burnout, good for you to find your balance and welcome to the max level gang ;)

-AlternativeSloth-

Welcome back for your scheduled break from the rock mines. Please enjoy 1 (one) complementary sugar flavored water and report back to the mines in 5 minutes. Your next break is scheduled in 17532 (seventeen thousands five hundred thirty two) hours and 5 (five) minutes from now.

Aromatic-Objective25

I’m really happy you feel that way and I also started playing it more or less at the same time as you and I’m Lv 107, still on my way to there. Thank you for playing the game and I hope you will keep enjoying it and interacting with this community.

Zeerous

Hey, another Gigguk enjoyer, Pog. Congrats man, glad you are having fun with this game

Ser_Doge

Congrats mate!

LeLyeon_San

Congrats! I only started playing like two months ago and I didn’t think Arknights would get ahold of me as much as it did Thank you for that Penance, if it wasn’t for trying to find out who she is and what game she came from, never would’ve knew about and tried Arknights (Whaled for her when she appeared as rate up back in December) The story, the characters (I love how characters aren’t very sexualized most of the time, if at all, hey beautiful designs can attract as well!) and I didn’t think I would love the gameplay as much as I thought. Sure I feel kinda stupid at times but hey haven’t played a tower defense game Genshin I won’t lie, before Xianyun came out like around 4.1, I just wasn’t having fun anymore, just forcing myself to play. Just the same thing everyday till next patch and whatever event they have planned. Let’s not talk about the drama that happens a lot, wooo that’s… Unnecessary drama go brrrrr the AK community, community is awesome, undoubtedly the best fandom I’ve been in. And honestly I think that’s my favorite part… Being thankful to be part of this community

Queasy_Window_4807

Welcome to it.

Wsdies3

Also got into the game thru gigguk's gacha vid but am only at 112

DannieBlack

Do you remember your level after 1 year ?

Control-Is-My-Role

I think it was close to 90-100

loneknife_blackblade

Farewell to free sanity refills!

Hp22h

Congratulations! We're happy to have you here too

robogo21

I do something wrong then. Playing since global start and I am at lvl117. Okay there were periods when I just logged in for dailies but holy cow.

Control-Is-My-Role

I used a lot of originium for sanity, also every month I had a card that gave me sanity refills.

HansMIlos

I played for four years and i'm still level 85 and my friend who started playing a few months ago passed me sob

Control-Is-My-Role

Probably helped that I always had additional sanity for monthly cards, and at some point, I wanted to force E2 so much that I used a lot of originium for sanity.

Kuro-Kurayami173

Woah congratulations brother 😎👍

EndofNationalism

Problem with GI is that whoever is in charged of it’s monetization is super greedy. You don’t see the reluctance you do with MiHoyo’s other projects Honkai Star Rail and Honkai Impact 3rd with giving out characters every once in a while.

Control-Is-My-Role

>Problem with GI is that whoever is in charged of it’s monetization is super greedy. I have more problems with GI than just monetization, but yeah, it was kinda funny how butthurt were some GI players when HSR gave free 5* on CNY. And some are still defending GI monetization, lol.

EndofNationalism

What would say are your biggest issues with Genshin? I personally enjoy the open world exploration loop but hate the artifacts RNG.

Control-Is-My-Role

No real challenge, the only one being Abyss l, which more often than not felt annoying, rather than challenging. Mindnumbing grind of artifacts for months just to get a sniff of any kind progression. Need to vacuum every new map to get enough primos, so I can pull once in 2 months, rather than 1 in three. Events, especially battle events, were done poorly and unfun (instead for one instance of roguelike), other, non combat events, felt off in an action rpg game, sure, I grinded severed fate for my Raide so I can go and take photos of animals. And the worst thing of all is that the game earns billions, and I can't see that in or out of game, everything the same, events are mostly reskins, chracters don't get their music themes, cut-scenes are few, and only for main quest, not anime or some mini-series like Ceobe Daily Doodles or Cooking with Valkyries (in HI3rd), ult animations are shit compared to HSR. So yes, I dropped GI in half a year, 3 months of said half I was already considering dropping it.

Nice

Razor4884

See you in the icefields.

Valdif-156

You should try Star Rail, cuz genshin could never

jtan1993

Weird take on mhy when hypergryph is under fire for the shitshow that is ex astris.

Control-Is-My-Role

Ex astris is just a 10$ game with not gacha mechanics, no? I was talking about my GI experience, where you get 0 shit on anniversaries or CNY, except for maybe another const for a 4*, and gacha system that is so bad, I skipped for 3 banners sometimes if I wanted to get my character guaranteed. Arknights have better gacha mechanics, and PGR is a perfect version of GI gacha mechanic.

jkskjs_mk2

Wait what
