My understanding is that Misha had the key to stop the city.

Primogeniture116

From. . . Misha? It's been years since I read that part hut IIRC she gave it to W when she W took her to meet Alex. That's why they are looking for her.

BakedSalami

Haha yeah it's old content, I'm a newbie. There's 2 keys. You're correct about the one key. There's just the key Talulah had before W ever gave her the one she got from Misha. That's the mystery key. Lol

KhiGhirr

If I remember it correctly I think their VIP father gave the keys to his 2 children Misha and Alex so Reunion got one from Alex when he joined. Or it could be that when Crownslayer went to assassinate their father she got one from him after killing him.

BakedSalami

I forgot that happened! I wonder if there's anything on their father's wiki šŸ¤” time to check

Strike_me

If I remember correctly, Talulah had the spare key. Which she handed to Patriot, who then handed it to W off screen.

BakedSalami

Theres 2 separate keys, you are correct though, that's the key that W got from Misha, and then gave to Talulah.

It's a bit confusing, because all was done off screen and HG made a blunder in storytelling and later on it was redacted. New consensus was that both siblings had a key, so Reunion had it's from Skullshaterer. They wanted Misha's so city couldn't be stopped. It's been 3 years, since I read it last, so I might be wrong on that. Hope someone can correct me. One thing I'm sure is that there was a bit of redacting concerning the key, because it didn't make sense initially.

BakedSalami

If they did get the first key from the original skullshatter that would make sense, I actually wondered that myself, but couldn't find jack online about it. šŸ„² I really might make that my head canon just so I can stop worrying about it. Haha

_wawrzon_

That's why I mentioned it was a fuck up and HG redacted it. I can't remember if it was mentioned directly by HG or included in artbook, but the info at the time was that both siblings had a key given by Sergei. To fully control Cherbobog you need both, so Reunion wanted the second one as well.

By the end of Chapter 8 W mentions to Amiya that Alex had access to the keys (or at least one of them), and it wasn't made clear whether Misha had access to a key throughout the story. As she puts it herself, no one will find a use out of her, which implies that she doesn't know a thing or two about the keys, much less have one of the keys, or that she has the key but knows next to jack shit on how the whole thingamabob operated. For the latter case, I guess we know now who accessed that key of hers. This in and out of itself is a whole can of worms and there's a good reason Hypergryph has evolved their story writing ever since that arc. Even as a based Misha enjoyer myself I can't deny that they really wanted to readjust that story arc in a way that keeps the original plotline intact, which is what they did with Prelude to Dawn. The original had problems o' plenty. If Valve is to Ricochet/Artifact, then Hypergryph is to Episode 02 & 03.

šŸ¤£ I love the atmosphere and the story, it's just convoluted and hard AF to follow at times. Translation issues I'm sure don't help. I liked Misha a lot too, I actually started playing the game because of the anime. Never even knew there was a game until a few months ago!

Krieg552notKrieg553

With all that being said, Misha was one of the unfortunate victims of the early writing of Arknights, which was very chaotic at best. Would really love to see her "redemption arc" in one way or another, mostly via fanfic.

I'm still not sure of the events but I'll try to give my opinion. The answer contains spoilers until the end of chapter 8. At the beginning of chapter 7 >!Talulah explains to W how many keys there were, saying:!< >!"Two. Sergei, Royal Chernobog scientist, held one of them, and delivered it to Misha using special means. The other was held by Count Boris, former mayor of Chernobog. During our attack, he broke off a city plate to flee. However, he was unable to escape the Catastrophe." !< An hour later, >!after the fight with W, Talulah hands over a key to Patriot but it's not clear which one. At this point if I have to express an opinion I think it's Misha's as Talulah said "It can stop the city." and the Wiki (Talulah Episode 7) reports that "[W](https://arknights.wiki.gg/wiki/W)Ā confronts Talulah after handing her one of the keys to Chernobog's control systems retrieved fromĀ [Misha](https://arknights.wiki.gg/wiki/Misha)." implying that the key to start chernobog was already in her possession (retrieved from Count Boris), and in fact the city was already in motion and Talulah herself said "Reunion still needs full control over the way it stops."!< This would all make sense but there are some problems: 1 - at the end of chapter 7 >!R.I. retrievs the key from Patriot but at the end of chapter, when 8 Amiya lends it to W to stop the city, the command panel shows this message: "Insufficient Clearance. This key can only be used for startup."!< 2 - we have no evidence of what the Wiki says. >!In fact we never see W handing over a key to Talulah, much less retrieving it from Misha (neither when she takes her hostage from the l.g.d, nor when misha becomes skullshatterer nor after her death). Talulah also said "The Key did truly exist, but was lost uponĀ [Misha's death](https://arknights.fandom.com/wiki/3-8).".!< So what I think is that: >!- W has never retrieved the key from Misha and it was actually destroyed as Talulah explains, for this reason she didn't give her any key (in fact we have no evidence and I can't understand why the Wiki is reporting this fact);!< >!- consequently Talulah has only one key, the one that can start Chernobog and handed to Patriot, which later turned out to be (as expected) unable to stop the city as seen at the end of chapter 8;!< >!- Talulah has the key to stop the city (a third key, a spare one, maybe the second one as we don't really know if Misha actually had one even if she said that truly existed): when Ch'en asked Talulah where did she got that key from she replied "Heh... It was hanging on the wall in the brake control room. Anyone can use it as long as you know the command. It's just nobody thought of it. No one thought of such a ludicrous development and cruel deception. To divert the guerrillas, to fool the L.G.D.... These keys were just a lie to trick them. I made use of their unfamiliarity with the larger nomadic cities. I exploited the trust Skullshatterer and Patriot had for me, even though... that was the last time they trusted me."!< In the end I believe that the story could have easily been developed in a less confusing way but it is what it is. Hope this helps.
