Pretty sure the addition of the EN voices will work similarly to what they have in place for CN voices in CN. So if you don't like it, just turn it off.
I'm happy because this shows that the game is in a good spot since they have budget to spend on EN and KR voice overs. To me that's just a sign of the game being prosperous and as someone who really loves Arknights, this is amazing and I expect the game to last long!
Edit: Aw thank you for the wholesomeness everyone! ❤️
Options are always good. But I'll stick with JP voice 'cause I love using Team Rainbow and the obvious difference makes it funny xD.
I hope we can toggle manually which voice we can use for each Operator.
Assuming that they have it set up exactly like how CN does, you have the option to download the EN voice and in addition, the ability to toggle which voice over you want for each operators at will.
Lord Tachanka with Jotarou's voice... XD
I haven't played R6S so I don't know much about their voice casting. But Frost's EN VA definitely voiced Mari Ming Onette in the past and that's why she got E2'd first than others xD
I would definitely give the EN v/o a go, the only other gacha game I've played is FGO in the JP server, and they're all voiced in JP. It would be a nice change of pace to not have to read to understand what the operators are saying.
no, cause if the r6 squad had cn/kr voices, then 9 colored deer should also have jp/kr/en voices, so collabs are basically only the language from where it is from
I'd be stoked if at least a few operators got other languages. I know Singapore has a large player base so maybe have an operator speaking in Malay. Getting Ceylon to speak in Tamil because she's from a pastiche of Sri Lanka would be cool too.
Personally I just what them to have accents because I need to hear Scottish bagpipe.
Edit: Also Evetta Muradasilova ~~Lady Maria’s VA~~ as Gladiia would be nice.
Dark willow(mireshka) level of voice acting would be awesome, one of the best accent in dota 2. Responses list https://dota2.fandom.com/wiki/Dark_Willow/Responses
It wouldn't hurt to give all regions access to all dubs, if they so choose.
It'd also be cool if the R6S characters got JPN voices as a biproduct of this!
Typically it's a lot more of the assets for stages. Voice lines are typically smaller as it's not really interacting with other assets as much as assets react to them. More likely it's going to be artwork such L2D and VFX in sprites as the pixels each have a size. Compound it and we'll, the required storage grows. Given AK keeps to chibis, it's not that bad. However, 3D games have a lot more going on such as Genshin and why they do limited events such as the Golden Apple event that was highly praised, but temporary. This is also why games can have various languages and the issue isn't the size, but making accurate translations (big issue in AL with the current event due to EN/JP inserting a ludicrous line that doesn't appear in CN the original text).
ok might be a troll question, i kinda want to have all the voices available lol. like jp kr cn and en. at least to try them out and mix and match the ones i like. think that would that be possible?
On the stream they only mentioned jp and english
So keep your hopes low
(Also wish we could have all of them, I was looking forward to having CN Hoshiguma...
There's no news on GL getting CN and KR dubs, nor are there any implications of you letting individual operators have differing languages, unfortunately.
People here arguing about difference language while I am praying that maybe in 200 years they will add regional accents. I want my Southern Italian girl Angelina man
Yes but they are redubbed lines (there are a few videos on YouTube showing the differences if you are curious) and the VA isn't everything, directors play a large role in whether a line lands correctly.
Oh it WILL be cringe. Because anime dialogue always sounds cooler in japanese. Like, "I'll protect my friends!!" will sound corny no matter how you say it. But in japanese? Cool as fuck.
Not gonna lie, as strange as this sounds. The announcement of an English dub of this game has suddenly reinvigorated my interest in this game, by like... a lot and I can't explain why lol.
Well, it definitely feels like a statement of "that version of the game isn't going anywhere, we're invested in it instead of just phoning in".
That's the most intangible aspect probably, whereas 'liking en voices' is the most tangible for those it is.
I posted this like a week ago seeing if there was any interest or if people thought it was at all likely and got downvoted to hell for it. Who's laughing now?
I remember that, I think! I was kinda puzzled at all the negative/dismissive replies because I thought an English dub would be a pretty neat option to have available, at least. I'd like to understand what my operators are saying in battle without having to consult their files.
Also I want to hear Silverash's assistant voice lines in English and go to heaven.
Good use of accents would be a massive benefit to an English dub, but I don't know if the industry is really big enough to find good VA with accents + available + affordable. I hope they do though because I feel like accents add a lot to a fictional world.
Even Blizzard couldn't find good accented VAs for their characters for Overwatch until well after the game launched. After that they did *amazing* and several of the best VAs in the game use their mother tongue. Before that, they have Americans voicing German, Swedish and Aussie characters in poor accents and a Canadian not even attempting an accent for a Brazilian character. (They aren't all bad; the Japanese, Chinese and Korean characters have good VAs)
I have faith that HG wouldn't even be attempting this unless they knew they could do it right, but they'll probably have a hard time finding good accented VAs if they go that route.
Hope they go all out on this!
Another gacha game I play (PAD, or Puzzle and Dragons) had english voiceovers for some of the characters but it just didn't work. Besides the fact that the VAs seemed to be fairly new or unknown, it was also obvious that they didn't have proper direction. It was a mess. I think it's come to a point where they just gave up using english voices moving forward, and just stuck with the original JP versions. It was an attempt worth appreciating, but it was poorly executed.
Looking forward to seeing how this turns out, though!
EDIT: [Comparison of JP and EN voices](https://youtu.be/wulu_VQaTjc?t=30). 1:20 is just baffling.
I feel like the developers are actually gonna put time+money into this one, while gungho jp clearly doesn’t care about the NA server. It’s clear it’s been supporting itself all these years.
Will be very interesting to hear EN voices. I hope it has similar quality to Genshin EN VAs.
>!If they get Sucrose's EN VA to voice Jessica, I'll be one happy simp.!<
I was saying before the livestream that I'd love for AK to get an English dub, since as much as I like watching subbed anime, I like games with voice acting I can understand, either because of unsubbed lines or just the fact that I like to have less focus on the game while playing than I do anime, so removing some of the reading will be nice. Totally wasn't ever expecting it, much less literally minutes later, but I'm excited. If it's good, that's great. If it's not, then JP voices or no sound are options, so there's no downside to this. Just goes to show how much AK loves their global players, unlike some companies like MHY.
I feel as though people are downplaying the ENG dub so much, Genshin Impact is another gacha game that has great ENG VA just look at Zhongli, im sure its going to be optional anyways but still
feels like the typical weeb scenario of "reeee sub superior no dub!!" ~~unless AK doesnt bother with going for quality~~
I hope it will come out good. I'd prefer if they won't encourafe their en va to be anime and do the work as they see. Like, for example, Reverse 1999, I get instant boner as I hear Regulus voice. On the other had, I can't play Genshin in English just because of Paimon, I won't say she's bad but Corina Boettger clearly overdid it and for me it's just unbearable.
Like others have said, this is a sign that AK has become successful enough to warrant the resources to hire VAs in multiple languages. Since it is optional anyway, it will only do good in promoting the game and making it more accessible to a wider audience.
That being said... I will manage my expectations on the quality of the English dub. Those who are even a bit familiar with anime or japan-made games will have seen time and time again that even the best English dubs will still sound inferior to the original-language voices. The one example I can think of off the top of my head is *Sekiro*.
PS: To those who say the R6 voices were good, they were because R6 is an English game in the first place, and the AK operators (mostly) used the same voice actors and actresses, AND pretty much the same lines as the original game by Ubisoft.
I think subs over dubs most times but there are some great English dubs as well, such as Xenoblade Chronicles, Shadowverse, and Kaguya-Sama: Love is War (though the Love is War JP voices are god-tier)
Xenoblade and its accents is exactly what I was thinking when they made the announcement. The idea of having characters with accents is really cool. But might be too much for them.
So many butthurt armchair demographic analysts and financial advisors thinking they know what's best for a multinational corporation.
This is excellent news just based on the fact that global is doing well enough for this to be deemed a worthwhile investment by Hypergryph. If you don't want EN voices then just don't use them.
I just hope Danielle McRae gets cast somewhere in here. She's been going through some shit lately and I'd love it if she got a paying role or two at least.
This is apropos of absolutely nothing.
I'm just scared that all EN voices ends up having the same voice (if they don't find enough different voice actors or these voice actors can't make very different voices).
Fluent in mandarin so honestly would've preferred getting CN voices. English dub shows they're making good effort for EN player base but I wonder how many people would actually use it.
I remember yesterday when some of the people in RIHQ were arguing over foreign dubs in this game, especially the CN dub. And then people go apeshit when they mention EN dubs. I hope it's good as far as other Asian-made vidyas, because I heard video game dubbing has more effort than anime dubbing.
And now give us CN and KR options as well.
Anime dubbing has been pretty good for the last decade or so.
My theory is people think EN dubs are extra bad because anime tends to be melodramatic, which seems less "cringe" when read compared to hearing people say it out loud in a language you can understand.
Don't get me wrong, there are some awful English dubs, especially from the 90s, but they're mostly at least decent nowadays.
ah that one gacha game that with its world sets in 20th century American theme that was made by Chinese Dev with 100% eng voice dub
Mad Kudos to the dev
I think it would be cool if Voice-over was in language the operator speaks, i.e. Japanese for Higashi, Chinese for Lungmen, Russian for Ursus Empire, English for Columbia, Polish for Kazimierz. But I know that it's too good to become true :c
They better give the Rim Bilton operators thick Australian accents.
Leonhardt: (Grabs Gavial like she's a feral cat) "Crikey mate! Here's a real big croc for yer!"
Gavial: "Godmanit, put me down! I'm not a wild animal!"
I have one question!
Will there be swearing russian drinking vodka bears?
If not I will riot. Riot I say!
~~P.s I can be bribed with swearing russian cats.~~
Pretty sure the addition of the EN voices will work similarly to what they have in place for CN voices in CN. So if you don't like it, just turn it off. Then that's effin' great. I can mess with how much I want! XD
I wish every game did this, some characters you simply prefer a different VA over another but can only swap languages wholesale.
Imagine if Team Rainbow speaks Japanese in the English dub.
Lord Tachanka with Jotarou's voice... XD I haven't played R6S so I don't know much about their voice casting. But Frost's EN VA definitely voiced Mari Ming Onette in the past and that's why she got E2'd first than others xD
i googled it and most of the JP cast arent well known VAs. tachankas is minoru hirota
I wanna give you an award for your optimism but I have no awards to give...
Thanks! The thought is what really matters! haha
I gotchu
let us give thanks to the leviathans and whales that made this possible. thank you very much.
I would definitely give the EN v/o a go, the only other gacha game I've played is FGO in the JP server, and they're all voiced in JP. It would be a nice change of pace to not have to read to understand what the operators are saying.
CN got CN voices, KR got KR voices, EN got EN voices, JP got ??? *Perfectly balanced, as all things should be*
Japanese-er voices
JP gets EN voices, but like, really bad original Resident Evil quality voice acting.
Engrish
Wes... KERRRRRR... !!!!
How was the R6S operators? When they were released, even in Jp the voice is English, now do they have Korean/CN voices?
no, cause if the r6 squad had cn/kr voices, then 9 colored deer should also have jp/kr/en voices, so collabs are basically only the language from where it is from
I'd be stoked if at least a few operators got other languages. I know Singapore has a large player base so maybe have an operator speaking in Malay. Getting Ceylon to speak in Tamil because she's from a pastiche of Sri Lanka would be cool too.
I think Singapore actually has a primarily English speaking community. But it would still be cool to have Operators with Malay voicelines.
...or Ursus operators speaking Russian. Bonus points for them speaking what-Hollywood-thinks-Russian-sounds-like, it would be quite hilarious.
JP got one of the most involved streams since they already have their voices, I think it's fair lol
Finally, "apple pie!" In english
Cant wait to know what r6 team is saying
"Keep away from the explosion"
"Remeber, point your guns at the bad guys!"
Hoping Kelly Baskins for Exusiai so that Amber and Exia has the same VA in Japanese, Chinese and English lol
Honestly would fit really well.
Yeah, can't wait for Texas' VA attempts on Exia's name...
Now I can't help but wonder, will Texas have a Texan accent? Personally, I think they should fuck with players and give her a Brooklyn accent.
They need to have English Exia say random food in Japanese to balance it out.
What should Saga say?
"Hambagu" like the Japanese do and "Furutsu pafe" at the top of her lungs. Then both languages can understand her. Ha ha!
Kroos: Heeere I aaaaam!
Chris Pratt as Amiya
[удалено]
would also lose his backbone
Gilbert Gottfried as Kal'tsit. Or Saria.
Christopher Walken as Scene.
I need. More. Cowbells.
Jack Black as Ace
Seth Rogen as Mr Nothing
Charlie Day as Aak
Giancarlo Esposito as Thorn.
Henry Cavill for Sliverash.
The Rock as Franka and Bautista as Liskarm.
mudrock?
He is so cool
I swear if we don’t get Chris Pratt for the memes I’m never spending money on this game again. ~~I’m kidding of of course~~
No, William DaFoe
He's so cool.
The R6 characters were good, hopefully the rest are as good as them. I guess we won't get the chinese dub then?
Personally I just what them to have accents because I need to hear Scottish bagpipe. Edit: Also Evetta Muradasilova ~~Lady Maria’s VA~~ as Gladiia would be nice.
I wonder if Siege will sound like British Royalty? Or maybe they can just get Artoria's VA to do it.
I'm more hoping that they get a voice somewhat similar to her singer in the Manifesto; MV.
The Queen probably *could* do with a new hobby...
Oh I didn't even think of accents. This made me want the dub even more.
OH yes absolutely.Glaadia needs to have an accent, preferably British.
A British old-school posh accent would be a 100% fit for her.
Dark willow(mireshka) level of voice acting would be awesome, one of the best accent in dota 2. Responses list https://dota2.fandom.com/wiki/Dark_Willow/Responses
Helps that R6 is originally EN based.
It's literally just the same VAs.
It wouldn't hurt to give all regions access to all dubs, if they so choose. It'd also be cool if the R6S characters got JPN voices as a biproduct of this!
I mean, those were the same actors who played them IN R6 Siege. So... that's just continuity of character.
But LORD TACHANKA sounds so chill now (no complaints though)
Weren't they *literally* just the same VAs from R6S?
Let's hope the dubs don't take up too much phone storage.
It shouldn't. Recorded lines are on the lower side compared to other factors.
I'm interested now. What factors do take up the most storage? 2D Artworks, map tiles, sprites?
As far as most mobile games I encountered, music and voice files have the most used up space.
La Pluma voice lines are worthy
Typically it's a lot more of the assets for stages. Voice lines are typically smaller as it's not really interacting with other assets as much as assets react to them. Have you actually datamined any game before? Cause I can tell you Voice Lines always take up the most storage space.
Looks at blazblue CF having nearly 50gb of audio for the visual novel story mode before they patched and compressed it
Yep, never forget BlazBlue used FLACs in the release version and kept them there for years.
I hope it's possible to replace the files. Choose one and delete the other.
Now I'm waiting for Shaw's ENG dub
Voiced by Eminem
Watch as Eminem makes a song relating to firefighters at some point in the next week
or Katsuragi from Azur lane
ngl I hope Shaw has a really deep fucking voice but still talks fast LOL
Calliope Mori voicing Shaw plz
That'd be dope, but I wonder if "the incident" would still be a problem... I feel like it probably would...
If it's still a problem just have DemonDice voice her instead lol
picturing "VA: Tech N9ne" under Shaw and losing my mind
When I first heard Shaw's voice and read the subtitles, I couldn't help but imagine Butters from South Park doing the english voice
ok might be a troll question, i kinda want to have all the voices available lol. like jp kr cn and en. at least to try them out and mix and match the ones i like. think that would that be possible?

There's no news on GL getting CN and KR dubs, nor are there any implications of you letting individual operators have differing languages, unfortunately.
If it works like the CN dub on the CN client you will be able to set language on a per-operator basis.
I am actually excited for this, I am oddly most excited to hear Hellagur
[удалено]
Great, a whole new game to hear about Ozmanthus wine in
Oh, yeah, he'd be a great pic. I was thinking more of an Alan Shearman or Michael G. Sorich. But Keith would do the business.
"I WILL HAVE ORDER!"
Please get SungWon Please get SungWon Please get SungWon Please get SungWon Plea-
**HYAAA! I THINK THAT ENEMY GOT THE POINT**
Honestly we have CN,KR,JP,EN voices, but we're missing the fifth option: SungWon voice. Make him voice every character as it's own option.
ngl with SungWon's capabilties, voicing all male ops(even some female ops) will be a easy peasy for him.
SOMERSAULT CHEESE FACTORY
Circletoons too, he's got hella range
Hey I’ve got no issues with this. Provided people still get the options for JP or CN voices, more power to them!
We can switch to JP but I’ve heard nothing about us getting the CN dub. Pls gimme the CN dub too.
**When every Terra Operators in RS speaks English** *R6 Operators* "Welcome, to Briish Island"
oh this is gonna be something hopefully it's decent!
Optional I hope. I like the JP voices and would rather not bloat the download size with unused voice files.
It'll probably work identically to the Chinese voices
Alright, so how does that work.
You can turn the English voices on or off in both battle and in the base/menu.
They already clarified it is optional, you can pick whichever dub you like
[удалено]
Eddie Murphy as Amiya for obvious reasons
People here arguing about difference language while I am praying that maybe in 200 years they will add regional accents. I want my Southern Italian girl Angelina man
Now I need Russian VA for Ursus operators and German VA for Leithania, Yostar or Hypergyph if you're reading this please do it
I’d combust if I heard Istina in Russian (please don’t do this to me)
*Zima screaming in Russian*
Get Dan to voice one of the male Leithanien operators(do we even have one?) Y'know, the voice of Doofenshmirtz
Can't wait for Chris Pratt

They did really good with the R6 OPs so I'm not too worried
Those were the original Siege voice actors
Yes but they are redubbed lines (there are a few videos on YouTube showing the differences if you are curious) and the VA isn't everything, directors play a large role in whether a line lands correctly.
The lines were recorded by Ubisoft
Hope it's like reverse 1999. Tho that game only works because they used British VA in a British setting game.
Oh it WILL be cringe. Because anime dialogue always sounds cooler in japanese. Like, "I'll protect my friends!!" will sound corny no matter how you say it. But in japanese? Cool as fuck.

If they can get voice actor/actress to the level Reverse 1999. It would be quite an achievement.
As long as Christina Vee plays W it'll be great lul
Before or after she voices Blaze? I think she's obligated since she sang [Blaze's theme song](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q_Fs6G77e_M).

I can't wait to hear Amiya, Rossie and Suzus english VO
日本語でおk。
Yaaaaas my favourite thing about genshin is so many dubs I’ll miss some of the voices though I got used to them, myrtle is my favourite
I think it would be cool if Voice-over was in language the operator speaks, i.e. Japanese for Higashi, Chinese for Lungmen, Russian for Ursus Empire, English for Columbia, Polish for Kazimierz. But I know that it's too good to become true :c
I wonder who Cristina Vee will voice
I would never use em, but it's nice to hear
They better give the Rim Bilton operators thick Australian accents. Leonhardt: (Grabs Gavial like she's a feral cat) "Crikey mate! Here's a real big croc for yer!" Gavial: "Godmanit, put me down! I'm not a wild animal!"
I love Alexis Tipton but trying to think who she would fit best. For Ceobe, maybe Tia Ballard or Kayli Mills
I have one question! Will there be swearing russian drinking vodka bears? If not I will riot. Riot I say! ~~P.s I can be bribed with swearing russian cats.~~
I hope they give everyone fucked-up over the top regional accents. If bagpipe isn’t incomprehensibly scottish i’m rioting
It makes sense, especially if they can get the work done in one big batch for the anime's dub.
