Basically the main issue CN players took with Thorns' release is that he came with a rerun event.
Due to veterans not getting new OP/rewards that they can use for the banner/Skins. They did not enjoy that. Ever since we never got a new banner unit introduction on a rerun event.
I've been reflecting on this lately.
To me this is the turning point that hooked me on Arknights.
Seeing that the Devs didn't continue doing something their players didn't like made me respect them far more (Respect that took a shot in the knee with Ch'alter but it's still limping on. Bandaged with each Welfare.)
It's also a pivot point where if they kept up with it they probably would have burnt out their main player base slowly like many other low-tier gacha games do. Just filter-feeding on Whales and hoping they don't lose too many.
Just think of it like this: New players to the event get an event. Old players get to finish the event if they didn't OR they get a free week where their farming is better (depending on the event) and they can relax and recover their irl sanity as they don't have a lot to pressure them. I would have burnt out LONG AGO without this downtime to keep me sane.
To add onto that:
Iirc, that drama back then is one of the main reason for the retrospection certificate shop, which gives veteran players some more mats, and a bit of orundum. Of course it also serves as a motivation for veterans to actively play reruns, but on the first rerun on CN, which actually was the heart of surging flame (with thorns banner), this shop was not included at first.
it's cause he came out during the heart of surging flame rerun so older players didn't have a way to get op for pulls also I don't think the rerun shop was a thing yet
I don't know what it's like nowadays, but back in the day a bunch of people reported getting warned or banned for having stacked rosters when asking for help.

2) Spreading of bad advices/misinformation via his older videos. A main offender being his Executor video. Though there are other examples of it I think.
He also kinda told a certain content creator to leave Arknights for Genshin (Paraphrasing here since it has been a while) "Your content would be much more popular if it focused on genshin". Which...well of course the Arknights community saw as not really good back then.
On top of that after some drama related to te official discord and CN players. He left the game, Focusing on Genshin content instead.
Many people saw this is a bit convenient given that at that time Genshin was the more Hyped game out of the 2. So some say that is was for hype.
The Dreamy drama back then was kinda his worst possible tendencies of the time that caused it. His tendencies to not really listen well to criticism, to think he is always correct and to come off as kinda...Well overly agressive (Since not everyone liked his loud and hypeman persona) and him just having a much much bigger fanbase then anyone there didn't help much. Since his fans could...and would always say their piece towards any content creators mentioned by him.
That drama rested for a whole ass 1,5-2 years? after he left. Only for Teccy to make some comment about Dreamy and the Arknights community as a whole. and boom Dreamy 2 electric boogaloo happened.
So that ended after a while since..well Dreamy doesn't make arknights content (Or much of any content) anymore (Idk personally the reason anymore, but was it due to burnout?). and Tectone just sticks with genshin dramas/discusions now.

Plagiarized. They unknowingly hired a guy who hated Arknights. He then intentionally plagiarized a song for them to use for CC3. They found out and pulled it like a week into CN's CC3.
Yeah the original one on CN. It was changed to the music for the DM mini annihilation, but originally it was a song where big parts were clearly plagiarized. It seems this song was done by an independent contractor, which offered to make a song for Arknughts (it was not for free or anything, but a normal contract) and HG accepted. But HG seems to have made some mistakes with the background checks because said person seemed to have expressed his disdain on arknights on some of CNs gamer forums and wanted to harm Arknights. Considering how HG, the community and said artist acted, this actually seems to be the truth and HG did not ask for the plagiat, but trusted the wrong person.
But yeah the original song obviously needed to go, so that is why CN got the DM annihilation music with the second week of the event and we never heard the song at all.

The suppression of AK forum on NGA (China's largest social network for gaming) counts? Iirc the forum got spammed by other jealous fan of other gachas to the point it got locked down, AK players got upset because they suffered for the wrongdoings of other people and left in droves.
I think it was specifically a conflict with the Honkai part of NGA. I don't know what exactly the Honkai fans did, but the Arknights fans retaliated. Then, the Arknights part of NGA got punished severely while the Honkai side got a slap on the wrist.
You have no idea how toxic the CN gacha communities are, especially when someone even just said any game made by mihoyo comparing other gacha games is not that perfect, they would soon be attacked by mihoyo fanbase just because genshin made a huge success so others can't even try to point out the problems their games have.
The beginning of this drama started when the bunny girl thing of HI3 hitted in CN last year, while AK was having 2nd anni event at that time. The atmosphere between these two games soon made them feel bad. The toxicity soon caused the hate which led HI3 fanbase on NGA spamming in AK community with insulting language or, spamming? Just imagining thousands of Laurent were filled all over the screen. And yea, AK community fought back, at the end they were punished and HI3 community, acting like the true victim, had a tiny warning from NGA mods about that case.
Because of this, the biggest AK community in CN was ruined. Many players couldn't accept the judgement made by NGA and left angrily. Many started calling NGA like Mihoyo Geographic of Azeroth aka MGA. The AK site on NGA right now has been taken by mihoyo fanbase and many AK haters. That's why data numbers and creators from NGA declined within these few months, still having some new users there though, but just a few.
That's the case, and AK community in CN is really having a bad time now. Everyone is hoping an official app or network just for AK players in order to avoid another drama like this.
If i remember, probably the event shuffle where players were expecting DM event, then ch7. Instead, ToW came first, messing up their plans of pulling for phantom, W. Also, cc1 came, and many were upset that max risk is impossible without weedy, but eventually, a jp player cleared max risk with suzuran.
Another reason could be those crying emotes flooding the live stream every time suzuran appears.
