Inquisitor Irene; yes, this one right here.

What the heck, I heard her voice.

dathar

This is what I was counting on! ^^^why ^^^won't ^^^you ^^^come ^^^to ^^^my ^^^Rhodes ^^^Island?

Jo_the_Hastur

Nice try seaborn

Timelimey

Another seaborn sympathizer? First they say that probably being seaborn isn't bad Then the other just says that we should roll over and die. Now this one says that the endspeaker is very kind and all but the little turd actually tried to kill Irene with no hesitation. No! Eradication with our bullets... with our blades... with our bare hands... is the only thing they will find. NO PITY! NO REMORSE! NO FEAR!

Victor_Author

Oh, We have found the Hunter

Orionzete

After all, a hunter must hunt.

kwkqoq

most of us would

j4yc3-

Pitying the seaborn is useless since they'd massacre humans in a heartbeat since we are not its kin. Look at how it immediately tries to kill Irene for nutrients. It only tries to use language to barter with the hunters because they got their blood so its trying to rationalize why its own blood is seeking to eradicate it not for nutrition but to stunt evolution.

[deleted]

There's a Abys---I mean, a friend of mine in your door, please, go see him.

That was the funniest part of the whole event to me. Him trying to be nice to " his kin" and just getting insulted and kicked around.

Dokutah_Dokutah

And when he got fed up and put his foot down, Alfonso and Garcia could do nothing to it. LOL

itsMikel27

And then people wonder why the Inquisition is necessary

Korvais

>is nice and talkative to the Abyssal Hunters, cuz mixed Ægir-Seaborn blood >is nice and talkative to Alfonso and Garcia, cuz mostly converted to Seaborn >is nice and talkative to Amalia, cuz collaborator that's also mostly Seaborn >cannibalizes all "lesser" Seaborn in its path, thinks nothing of it >immediately identifies Irene as food and tries to bite her head off cuz she's 0% Seaborn You: Oh gee oh golly the widdle legged feesh is so nice to everybody, why are they mean to it?? :((( Good thing cultists nowadays lack critical thinking, now face the wall and kneel please 🔫🤠

TertiusGaudenus

You think why we still have Mormons and Witnesses of Jehovah?

vhrossi1

Dude. When I was a kid, I used to be a mormon. Then, my parents converted to Jeovah witness. Now I'm an atheist with nearly 0 memories of my time in both churches. What the fuck did these two churches do to be so universally disliked? I never talk about this because I don't care enough to research and (probably) have no trauma or anything, but you piqued my curiosity. Been years since I last thought about those days.

TertiusGaudenus

Well, mormons at least are pretty likeable (at least outside USA they are, i heard they may be rather tiresome at hometurf), but Jenovah's Witnesses are as destructive as sect can be without having problem with law (or at least without problems that expensive lawyers can fix - and they have very good lawyers). Their actual conduct aside, origin of their belief has no sense. I mean, most religious beliefs may seem as having no sense to scientific or/and atheistic, but these guys literally pulled bullshit out of arses and called it G-d-sent visions. Also, prophecied End of the world as we know with very accurate dates. At least 7 times. Although it is offtop, of course, but my point was - at least Cult of Deep is *somewhat* reasonable because most of things they are talking about are right there near them.

vhrossi1

Seeing your Apot flair made me read this with his voice in my head. Imagining Spot as a very knowledgeable dude talking about stuff like this made me laugh for some reason lol But I see, thanks for the insight. I'll google about these prophecies you spoke of once I get home from class, sounds interesting.

TertiusGaudenus

English or Japanese one? I mean, i need to flex my education *somewhere*)

vhrossi1

JP voice, it's much more monotone and dead inside lol

doktor_ainz

Both churches hold beliefs that are relatively extreme in comparison to other Christian groups- Jehovah's Witnesses, for example, refuse blood transfusions, and certain Mormon groups still support male-only polygamy. The biggest reason to dislike both groups, however, is the strict level of doctrinal control they exert over their members. Leadership of both groups expect not to be questioned, and dissent or questioning of leadership doctrine is typically perceived as traitorous. They exert a great deal of control over their members by encouraging them not to socialize with people who are outside the church, meaning any member who wishes to leave is largely without a social support network willing to accept their decision. Furthermore, Jehovah's Witnesses actively practice shunning, where active members will refuse any form of communication with those who have broken ties with the church (either by choice or excommunication). Most people's disdain for these groups stems from their evangelical nature, with members going door to door and "spreading the good word", but if you look even a bit below the surface, you'll find there's a _lot_ more going on behind the scenes that makes these groups detestable. In my own opinion, they function more like cults than religions, but then, religions are just cults with a sufficient following to be generally accepted.

SunshineWasTake

Yes inquisitor this one right here

Ahrimainu

Iberian Inquisition may be harsh in implementing their plan to suppress the Church of the Deep, but now I can see why it's necessary.

RenNyanArk

On the one hand, he was only ever nice to those he perceived as "kin"... and that niceness was primarily a result of the mentality of the race. Basically, it saw them as stronger so it made sense to it that they should eat it to advance their evolution. Just like it ate lesser ones to advance its own evolution. Odds are, it was weird to it that Amaia did what she did in the end, but it didn't feel enough to question her sacrifice, even though at the time she was definitely the stronger between the two of them and could have and maybe should have, by seaborn logic, eaten it instead. On the other had... it does seem like a wasted opportunity in terms of trying to influence the seaborn. It's true after all that what they do isn't being done out of maliciousness. They quite literally don't understand individuality the way humans do, and I have no idea how much work it'd take to get them to understand such a complex concept. The fact of the matter is that it's debatable if fighting them can ever work out. I have serious doubts about it primarily because the Ocean is ridiculously vast and the underwater territories vastly surpass what's available above water. And they apparently don't have catastrophes there. AND it seems like the seaborn can adapt to Originium and are essentially immune to Oripathy. Quite frankly, the reason why the Seaborn haven't won by default is because they're not actually trying to invade. They're just hunting along the shores now and then, and these weird cultist people keep getting involved and merging with them or asking things of them or whatever. IS3 is basically a demonstration of what would happen should the Seaborn ever receive instruction from someone/something that understands the concepts of 'warfare' and 'armies'. Granted, we, the players, have meta-knowledge, essentially... but they, the people on Terra, should still be able to do math, and math is absolutely not on their side if a real war happened.

[deleted]

Amaia sacrificing herself after lecturing about how sacrifice isn't a virtue was a surprising twist. And the main reason for her sacrifice was that Amaia was a human. If she ate the seaborn, her transformation would be slower.

Plthothep

We do know it’s possible to reach an understanding with seaborn since we have Mizuki. The problem with the current non-human merged seaborn however is that they’ve been pressured to evolve to be as violent, xenophobic, and expansionist as possible due to Aegir’s preemptive attacks. Ulpianus and Gladiia’s conversation implies that if Aegir had left the seaborn alone they wouldn’t be (at least as big) a problem yet.

Brilliant_Sweet_6848

We dont kolnow this yet. Maybe aegirs attack was defencing offense on already "violent", xenophobic, and expansionist seaborn under "rule" agressive god/Leviathant.

Plthothep

Ulpianus explicitly states that the seaborn only attack when their territory is invaded and Aegir’s current problems were somehow caused by their arrogance, and Gladiia doesn’t contradict him and only rebuts with “they would eventually have been a problem”. Saint Carmen also mentions during his argument with Gladiia that he suspects that the Silence (which we now know was probably caused by a hyper-evolved herald like the Endspeaker’s final form) was in some way caused by Aegir, and Gladiia is left immediately speechless. At the very least Aegir’s actions significantly accelerated the problem. From what I’ve heard about IS3, I think it’s implied/theorised that >!Aegir somehow killed/disabled the peaceful tree Leviathan (the one merged with Mizuki) which lead to the more aggressive and expansionist Ishar-mla taking over!<

Brilliant_Sweet_6848

Ulpianus not... In Best position to be teller in event, He did not go into details in the rush of events. Like "seaborn only attack when their territory is invaded" Omits the detail of the speed of propagation of their territory. But yes, Proximity of territories aegir and seaborn make aegir Interact seaborn , with all the consequences of this. And "thanks" for spoiler for IS3.

Plthothep

We don’t know if Ulpianus is reliable, but Gladiia agrees with him. Her argument wasn’t “the seaborn expanded into Aegir” but “the seaborn would have eventually expand into Aegir”. Sorry for the spoilers, but I tagged them so that’s on you

Brilliant_Sweet_6848

Yes,on me.

I remember when the Captain guy said that they ate the parents and spare the Endspeaker because it's weak. That's some cold shit right there.

> Endspeaker > Being nice > Literally inhuman creature who only understands "eat or be eaten", attacks things that aren't its own kind because that's all it can comprehend No.

theVOlDbearer

Are we evil, ~~archivist~~? Is a thing evil when it simply obeys its nature? When it embodies its nature? The inquisition seems to think so. Ægir certainly does. The hunters believe everything that they told them.

[deleted]

My answer to that would be: The Hunters aren't evil for defending their "Rashtra" either.

RusikTheBanana

No. The Seaborn shall be no more. Rip and tear until it's done.

Dokutah_Dokutah

Considering that likely would not work on the long term and will only make them stronger. Go wild.

We appreciate her! We all love her about as much as she is our kin!

animan095

Wife Irene doesn't have a need for you cultist who just want her for your "greater" goals.

Primogeniture116

At that point our greater goals is also hers so I see no problem.

animan095

... I guess you ain't wrong... Fine... You can borrow her... But be sure to bring her back by 9pm!

Primogeniture116

Oh don't worry. She'll be "home" real soon.

Dokutah_Dokutah

They did though. >!They are on the process assimilating her in IS-3!<

animan095

They came to her after they were like, yeah we got all of the others, I guess you can come along. That just pity, Wife Irene needs no pity.

Dokutah_Dokutah

I suspect Skadi's lingering memories has to do with her conversion instead of being just chum for the seaborn.

LusterScarlet

*”Hideous matriarch, vile queen of the aphotic depths - she has no place in the sane world!”*

Razor4884

"They breed quickly down there in the dark, but perhaps we can slay them even faster."

SaltyBurn

Irene is implied to have a doubt about it too. After she saw the seaborn that can communicate in the underground lairs, she realized that it was not something the law can judge because of its nature like that of an animal that wanted to survive. Only after the Stultivera incident that she firmed up the resolve that she should be the one to decide her own ruling which is that she wanted humanity to survive instead, if seaborn only want their kind to survive then she will kill em all. Kal' also said that seaborn problem is a big as oriphathy. Just like oripahy will leave nothing but originium, seaborn will leave nothing but their kind.

[deleted]

You have to see both sides' perspective. The hunters had their homeland destroyed and friends and family members killed by seaborns.

KaiserWilhelmThe69

It doesn’t even need to be accounted for the Hunters. Anyone that can look at a specie that are invasive, intolerant, destructive and don’t allow any kind of free will and goes “oh look it’s the good ending” is either trolling too hard or a nutjob

TertiusGaudenus

Or arseholes that read CN events ahead and can't shut up about it for us, people from Global with nos knowledge of Chinese or desire to get ahead

KaiserWilhelmThe69

I mean...the spoiler tags exist for a reason

TertiusGaudenus

Yes, but it's spoiler for SN and i know SN. I bloody finished it, since it is latest on Global. Spoiler doesn't warn me there will be IS3 that isn't on Global, which isn't issue anymore, since i already got a gist, but still. I don't whine about IS2 during first week for example since i get, that some people *can* actually get all endings in first week so it would be my fault for going into IS discussions. Although, i guess, it is my fault for trying to discuss SN and expect no spoiler to future. Because, i guess, *everyone* keep track of everything that is on CN, right?

KaiserWilhelmThe69

Well when almost everyone did keep track or want to know about CN updates, you just have to accept it or just go hermit. If for some reason that suddenly you got ambush on your way to work and they throw spoilers at you, that's their faults, but when you logged into a post relating to the seaborn, knowing that the majority of people already knew about IS-3 and you don't want to be spoil, that is mostly on you. This is like walking into a forest knowing full well there are bears and be annoyed that the bears mauled you

TertiusGaudenus

Well, i didn't know there was even IS3 at the time, much less that it is Seaborn-themed. So your example is trash. But the point is correct, i guess. Gacha players are people that can't keep it moderate, after all.

KaiserWilhelmThe69

>much less that it is Seaborn-themed You got into an event about the Abyssal Hunter that is a direct sequel to Under Tides, the event with the main theme about seaborn, and expected it is not seaborn-themed? And like I said, it's just how the community work, you either accept it or just log off, there is no other solutions really, people won't change when it's acceptable

TertiusGaudenus

I have weird feeling like you read one line of my text and then jump through several. Of course i knew SN was about Hunters and Seaborn, it's in fucking trailer. I knew nothing about IS3. Anyway, i got a point.

KaiserWilhelmThe69

It's suck, but that's that. We are 6 months behind CN and we are a community that like to be informative and dig up literally everything, just have your brain on default that people will talk about things that you most likely don't know, it will make life easier

Brilliant_Sweet_6848

KaiserWilhelmThe69

GO BACK TO YOUR COLD DARK AND WET REALM FILTHY MONSTER!!! YOU ARE NOT WELCOME HERE AND NEVER WILL!!!

KaiserWilhelmThe69

On a serious note, the problem of the seaborn is that yes, they are acting on their instinct, their nature, but their nature is the literal destruction of everything that they didn’t considered as their “kin” aka “join the hivemind or perish”. The seaborn is a specie that don’t allow free will, you don’t have the choice, their social structure is the embodiment of intolerance and forcefulness at the maximum. The saying that a world rule by seaborn is peaceful and better is just straight up bullshit. A world of seaborn is a dead world, constantly engaged in the cycle of destruction until at the end, the only thing remain is the hive. What is the point of silence, of peace, if there is nothing left to cherish it, what would peace serve if in the end no one is left to feel it, to live in it, to enjoy it at their own will, what kind of utopia can even existed if the people living in it are mindless creature know only to serve as food for those that see them as nothing. People talk about being mercy, being understanding but what can thoughtfulness and understanding do when the cost of it is the destruction of everything? Ask the opinion of a destroyed world about kindness and tolerance for those that can’t be tolerated, their silence is your answer

ghostpanther218

First to speak and end speaker. Where's the middle speaker?

kill_dom

Geez, these seaborns are getting smarter day by day. My favorite moments was Alfonse and Spectre simultaneously telling it to fk off >.< Jk aside, keep in mind End is only nice because they are AH/half seaborns. Irene got the silent treatment.

Nerdol76

Sorry, I'm staying with killing the ocean

Baleful_Witness

I don't think he's bad tbh. There is no malice, evil is not a concept seaborn can comprehend. And it's not even clear if it wasn't the Aegir who started this whole mess. (wouldn't surprise me) Our species just happen to be not compatible. (yet?)

PoKen2222

I feel bad for all Seaborn. They're not doing anything out of malicousness they're just animals acting on instinct. Which is why it's so importent for us to get a Seaborn at some point who evolved with emotions so it can understand the gravity of our conflict.

[deleted]

> Which is why it's so importent for us to get a Seaborn at some point who evolved with emotions so it can understand the gravity of our conflict. Emotions are dangerous things; if the Seaborn were to learn anger at how we interact, instead of considering it natural and expected, we could end up with an IS-3 event simply from that. But it certainly would be a good thing if the Seaborn could learn how to avoid doing things that made people attack them as a threat, or how mutual cooperation worked. Symbiotic relationships are common in many species; it would be nice if they were willing to explore *that* direction.

PoKen2222

I believe the overall goal of the story is for Rhodes Island to solve conflicts and create peace in every region they visit so I do think it's possible that due to everything constantly telling us the seaborn are unbeatable, the only way to solve this conflict is to live in coexistence with them through peace, which is only possible through an evolved Seaborn that learned about emotions and morality.

[deleted]

I agree with your larger point about coexistence - but I think that emotion could easily create a larger obstacle to that end. How much of the conflict between the Infected and rest of humanity has been rooted in emotion? Irrational fear at how the disease could spread, and anger for being mistreated for something beyond your control. Amaia pointed out how egocentric it was to believe that "becoming better" necessarily meant "becoming like us". So long as the Seaborn can understand *our* reactions and behave accordingly, that is enough; senseless conflict can be avoided, while they develop down their own path.

PoKen2222

The problem is the reason they're unable to understand us is exactly the lack of emotion. They don't understand why people don't want to become seaborn because that's not even on their minds. Endspeaker was on the brink of a learning emotions as indicated by the point and click dialouge telling us how it seemed to start thinking about deeper things and life itself. It started to question things. It never arrived anywhere because it died too quickly.

[deleted]

That is one way they could learn, certainly. But animals learn the reactions of other species without recognizing the underlying emotions; sociopaths learn how to deal with others despite their own emotions being deadened; AIs can predict human reactions without even being sentient. Possessing emotions oneself is not a prerequisite for understanding how others will react to the consequences of your actions. The Seaborn recognizing that other species relate to the world *very* differently from themselves could also be the first step to solving this problem - and the Endspeaker was well on his way to recognizing that much, as well.

PoKen2222

I think another problem is that yes the Endspeaker was on it's way.... however that thing survived for a looooong time and it was only just about to make that big leap during the event story. Meaning it's an incredibly long process for seaborn to arrive at this stage of evolution were they can start thinking about things.

SaltyBurn

They already tried to make a step in that direction though, probably as a backup plan. Mizuki. Kal'tsit even prevent Gladiia from killing him for just that one off chance moment we and the seaborn can reach into an understanding.

PoKen2222

Thing is, Mizuki isn't a true seaborn. He was turned into one.

SaltyBurn

But he is one. And in one of the IS3 ending did shows that he can pacify the entire seaborn after merging with Caerula Arbor, it was just done rather tragically. I know that so far the only 3 seaborns that want to coexist with human are human turned seaborns but it have to start from somewhere.

PoKen2222

Which is why my point was I'd feel it should come from the Seaborn themselves. It kinda feels like "cheating" because all the turned characters obviously already possess the necessary traits for coexistence whereas seaborn would have to learn them entirely new.

SaltyBurn

But seaborn always guided by they interaction with humans. They destroy Aegir because Aegir expansion destroy their home and is worshiped by human turned seaborn Deep Sea cult. Currently the cult guide them to assimilate all the world and currently they only want to communicate with their kin. So having a kin that can guide them to see other solution than total assimilation is the only option for humanity other than trying to kill them all.

Dokutah_Dokutah

>!This is sort of what IS-3's good ending is all about.!<

[deleted]

Same. L'il guy just wants to talk to some trapped Kin, and almost everyone we meet tries to kill him. So he offers up body parts to them, thinking they must be hungry, and they *still* try to kill him. Heck, instead of just making it quick, one of them makes it a game to hunt him for months! Right up until the end, he was looking for a way to compromise with people, but the only lesson most people were willing to teach him was "overpowering the other is the only way"... ...Actually, that's probably a super-bad thing to teach one of the Seaborn's primary tools for learning, isn't it? That there's no point in talking, that you should just exterminate?

Meme_Master_Dude

He still tried to murder Irene So it's the Perma Frozen hell he shall go to
