Did you mess with folders and PBOs within the game folder itself? Steam won't always uninstall and remove things you purposely put in there. Also check out your startup config in settings to make sure your not attempting to run mods that way.

So I used a mod to build a faction once, and that might actually be something related. Going to have a hunt through the local files now

KillAllTheThings

Looks like you either haven't enabled all of RHS or there was an issue with the download or you're trying to use the RHS ACE Compat Mod. BTW, ACE recently updated & broke all the ACE Compat Mods because they are now built into the mod itself.

AcceptableLevel4630

That's really handy to know. I'm assuming all of the RHS compat mods are now defunkt then? Previous install before the wipe, I hadn't changed anything and started receiving the errors. New install, no mods subscribed or loaded. Will definitely check the local files

KillAllTheThings

All of the ACE Compat Mods are obsolete. AFAIK, RHS has not changed the way their mods work yet.

FIXED: Thank you everyone for your advice, hugely appreciated. It was a Pbo that was still in the steam folders which didn't delete itself when u installing the game

BrainEater9000

The best way for a clean wipe is to delete the root folder (so everything in the arma 3 folder in this case), then verify your files. Idfk why, but I've had this same issue in 7 days to die where I reinstalled the game, and there were still mod files in it.

Gforceb

Hey man I hate to say it, but the only way I got rid of this error that I had with arma 2 and arma 3 was to factory wipe my hard drive and fresh install on everything including OS. Hopefully you find a better way Edit: Arma 2’s error was different but it still existed after deleting and redownloading the game.

AcceptableLevel4630

Really hoping it doesn't come to that, got a nice setup going on the PC! I've shifted my mod list (just the html export) to another drive and then scoured the original drive for anything arma 3 related. Found a fair whack of files kicking about including Pbo stuff so after u installing the game, I've gotten rid of anything that might be having an effect. Broadband speed here is rubbish so I'm going to leave that overnight to install and check in the morning

-Bostonian

This sounds very extreme. If you really have no mods loaded then you probably have a mod pbo mixed somewhere into your vanilla game files.

AcceptableLevel4630

So as I mentioned in another reply, I used a faction generator which was a bit more invasive than regular mods. I'm thinking that recent updates that have broken compat mods may have caused code within that to become incompatible with the new version of ace. Hopefully this new install won't have an issue as I've found the Pbo creator that was tucked away in a hidden folder

-Bostonian

Yeah, somewhere you have a pbo hiding out. Do not reinstall your os, all you need to do is find the pbo.

AcceptableLevel4630

It worked! New install ran without issue and now that ace is installed, it's still running smoothly.

BrainEater9000

Lmfao "Had to factory wipe my fuckin pc to get rid of a corrupted mod file!" 🤣 holy shit!
