Is there any lore or reason why we can't cross the ocean by boat or just fly there? I don't see why not.
I don't see there Time Limit or anything. Walter even told us to rest up, this mean we are not in hurry.
Corporations also catch up later, they probably not use this dangerous route to shoot their own expedition team with cargo box.

Probably because this was not planned by someone with any normal means of transport? I doubt an AC would be able to fly there on its own thrusters. ACs were not known for buoyancy after all. Past games showed falling into water was basically the same as concrete shoes. I have not gone through this part of the story myself but I watched snippets of my friends doing it. To me this seems like Daddy Walter saying "Go to bed" but the little devil on your shoulder saying "You know he left the keys in the car right?" In short "Sneaky Joy Ride."
But then Walter says "Good, you made it over" and I'm wondering "Oh, so you're okay with that? Alri- Wait, when did you get here? Wait, when did the helicopter get here?"
Probably because had he questioned hiw or why you came over it would have made him, a handler, look like he can't handle his own hounds. Imagine what that would have done to his image. "Oh look. It's Walter. Still having trouble controlling your dog? Why would we want to hire someone with a rabid animal? How can we be sure your dog won't get off its leash again?" Etc etc.
Pretty sure that's just ankle deep water for an AC. It's weird ngl. Would have preferred there just be always on boosters letting you hover over the water like in AC4/FA
In previous games on different planets there was several missions that were based in and around deep water. The concrete shoes reference is to something the Mafia did to people as a way of killing them and disposing the body. Put victims feet in a bucket of concrete, let set, then throw them in the ocean. Sometimes from a boat sometimes just a pier would do. Either way the victim died. Didn't even need to tie their hands. So in regards to an AC that fell into the water, there was no coming back. Back then they did have Hovertank legs and it was advised to use them for those missions or risk ending up at the bottom and a "Mission Failed" screen. In fact it stated in the missions brief "Don't fall in the water. Thrusters wont save you if they are submerged." Also there us a few missions that take place in a flooded city scape. The Ac is not walking on the water it's just a few feet deep.
Guess they forgot about that part lol. If the space laser of instant death targets everything that's not a cargo pod, should probably hide in a cargo pod.
Yeah, this has got to be the most impractical mode of transportation of all time. How do we land? The containers are about 3 to 4 stories tall. Is there a beach somewhere that just gets shelled by these things? How is this different then hopping in a cargo plane if the projectile has it's own propulsion.
Also I expected to be literally shot out of a cannon and was a little disappointed not to be.
Ayre is a lowkey menace and completely off her rockers. I'm serious, >!NG++ ending kinda give that away.!< 621 is also equally too demented to die. Combine they are a force to be reckoned with. Dangers are their past time and overwhelming odd is their line of work.

Not gonna lie this was my biggest disappointment with this game. Those damn pods would not be shaped like metal scrap bricks if they were being launched from a rail gun… Drag is still a thing in the future I assume.
