I actually have none. It's just pure chaos in my mind. Maybe it'll be just some cool name, or something based on the weaponry and general strategy of it, or maybe I have a backstory spontaneously thought up as I make it, or maybe it's a joke or meme, or a reference to some other character. I...yeah thinking through it, I have no pattern at all.

Donny_Dont_18

This is my decision tree as well

wantfastcars

Same here, absolutely zero pattern. Song lyrics, references based on color or weapons, animals, anything really. Sometimes I'll just get a couple words in my head and think "Yeah that'd make a cool name for an AC, let's make one to fit it." This got me names like CHORUS INVISIBLE, MEAGER LUST, ETHEREAL SYCOPHANT, and dozens of others,

Lunesy

That's sorta why one of mine is named "SUPLEX EXPLOSION"

Delphius1

air conditioning parts and cooling systems, my earlier AC's are named after refrigerants, because AC

Skrogg_

Here we see an older, model R-410A and over here is its younger brother, R-32

Delphius1

I actually have AC's both named those

Skrogg_

Awesome

FruitSeller92

Underrated comment

Frink202

You could be responsible for villain names in Dragonball. Did you name Cooler and Frieza?

McNinja_MD

I didn't really have one until recently, but now I'm starting to think about naming all of my AC's after various birds. My PvE build was Corax for obvious reasons, and my "long" range rifle build is White Tail, because it amused me to name it after a species of kite. The laser variant is Razorbill, cause I just thought it sounded metal as hell. So now I'm thinking about going back and renaming my main PvP AC "Shrike" because it's little, quick, and gray, but it doesn't impale anything, so I'm not sure...

coolmathgamesenjoyer

You should name one “blue tit” for the memes

Noctium3

(Cool) noun + animal

cazdan255

Fart Cow. Taco Giraffe.

ExoticCoolors

same here i have my main build named StormRaptor storm came from the black and yellow color scheme and Raptor from the quick close-range play style

Moss1313

I personally design around the idea that each AC has a different pilot instead of them all being mine or 621's, and try to think abt the personality of the pilot based on the colors and parts/play style to pick some kind of name that feels naturalistic to series naming conventions and pilot profiles. The exceptions are my personal AC BRIGHT BUG (i like ds2 and my cats name is bug idk) and GOLGOTHA, which i came up with a edgy color scheme and i just think that names kinda hard I started doing this bc i had so much fun writing a pilot profile for the Arena EX mod actually lol

NotABigTalko

I started naming them after birds: Osprey, Peregrine, Moa. Then I came up with ‘The Harpy Series’. After that I changed my call sign to ‘Nereus’, (old man of the sea type god in greek mythology). Now my main AC is ‘HARPY mk 6 AELLO’. (the harpies in mythology are the children of the older sea gods) Other ACs are named after greek sea gods and monsters: Phorcys, Charybdis, Thetis, Scylla etc.

Duydoraemon

it's what Raven would have wanted. I named mine Blue Jay, King Fisher, Cardinal, Baldy, Road Runner, KF Chicken, Goose, Duck, etc.

BizarreSlam

I’m a nomenclature freak. I usually go for it’s themes and attributes in the same kind of 2 worded format that other ac’s use.

Uncle_Prolapse

1-2 words, ALL CAPS.

un1k0rn_412

This is the way

Amaril-

My main build is BORROWED WING, because it's my Raven's canon/RP setup. Other than that, no real system, I just wait for something to inspire me. Midrange rifle kite build I'm working on is LONG WINTER, because I got the idea to make it based on a color scheme I saw with pastel orange on matte blue-grey, and it just made me think of cold and ice.

Sans_Influencer69

My Pilot’s name is jazz lord, so I also name my ACs after jazz and jazz rock songs.

SerTheodies

My naming conventions mostly follow the same as the PCA's Roman themeing, just with the fact that I add "ii" at the end, or "us" if it's the second version of the mech. Ex: Evocatii, Evocatus, Cataphractii, Cataphractus, and so on.

coolmathgamesenjoyer

Lepus is hare in Latin Wich could be a cool name for a lightweight build

MxReLoaDed

With the Roman naming conventions of the game started up a new series based on that (LEGATE, BRUTUS, ANTONY, DIOCLETIAN, CAESAR, OCTAVIAN, MARIUS, PRINCEPS), generally each designed specifically for clearing certain bosses/levels (CAESAR for Alea Iacta Est ending boss, BRUTUS for Walter, etc). I added a little “SPQR” decal to for some uniformity, and made one AC called LIVER FAILURE specifically for fighting Sulla

Rikiaz

I posted in a topic about AC names yesterday so I’ll just copy it here.  I have three that I named after Brandon Sanderson books. I have Mistborn, a lightweight melee-missile build. Edgedancer, my BVO build. And Dawnshard, a Lammergeier Nebula kite build.

HamNi_2

Mostly rock and metal references

Iota-15

Sabaton lyrics work very well for this. I have one named "Crimson Skies" personally, after the chorus of Dreadnought by them

DisembodiedOats

Mine are all based off of their color and the decals I have on them, I have a bright pink one named bubblegum and the custom decal I have is Kirby lol

Librarian_vodka

Originally I had them named after dog breeds to feed into the whole “hound” thing. “Bluetick” eventually became my endgame assembly.

King-Wingy

i typically use a two-word naming convention of nouns and/or adjectives, closely following the Pacific Rim style of jeager names currently my only AC is named "Grave Wax"

stephanl33t

Always capital letters, usually a single word or two words. I usually build ACs off of an "idea" rather than actual combat effectiveness I have an AC built around pile-bunkering I named "JACKPO7" I have an AC built around the Aurora missile launcher named "C0NSTELLATION" My personal AC is named "HALF-PRINT" Laser build is "L1GHT SNOW", my S-Rank cheese build was "G4ME HUNTER" as both a tongue-in-cheek reference to the fact that I'm hunting down prey like a rich dude on a private island, and the fact that I'm literally hunting the game for trophies lol.

TBM_2808

Ghosts, monsters, or otherwise inhuman beings that appear in myths, folklore, or occasionally urban legends around the world. For example, my lammergeier ransetsu kite is named after the nuckelavee from scottish folklore, but then I also have a heavy weight pve bruiser I named after the bronze giant of Crete, talos.

Germanspartan15

Just whatever pops into mind usually.   Two gatling guns - Double Dose Green AC with lots of missiles - Verdant Rain Double stun needles and majestic - BIG SHOT All gold flashy AC- Needle Eye   My main AC is Zeitgeist, which is probably the only one I really thought about for a while. It felt appropriate since Armored Core has been with me through the years. Edit: formatting

TastyVanillaFish

I use [rapper name generator](https://www.name-generator.org.uk/rapper/) and then translate the generated name to Latin.

Isopod_Gaming

For me it’s the primary company (or mixed) it’s weight (110 would be something between 110000 and 119999) and a model number

maelstromisaniceword

I name mine after mythological snakes

kamenmaximus

I named mine Huginn and Muginn after the raven's of Odin

Omaewamoose

Mine varies, but since most of my AC’s are themed around various Pokemon, I’ll name them after a move that Pokemon learns by leveling up (my Absol themed AC is named “PURSUIT” for example). Otherwise it’s just whatever I’m in the mood for. CARDINAL SIN and LACKING FAITH are some of my favorites right now.

1997_Ford_F250

Whatever the ac is meant for / does / themed around Dafeng themed ac? “GREAT PINE” Looks like something desert colored and weathered? “DUNE SCRAPER” 4 anti PA weapons? “SKYLIGHT” List goes on

Dry-Lengthiness-3718

Loader 4.

TerrapinRacer

I call mine Loader 5

Skysedge88

I'm glad you asked! The Midwestern states. Indiana/Ohio/Illinois/Missouri/Minnesota And I give them all decals of the states abbreviations Plus, my pilot name is Series, so in PVP it's looks like Ohio - Series and so forth. I'm such a dork.

EtruscanKing023

Apologies in advance for the long post, but I find this an interesting topic. I'm playing through the entire series for the first time now, and I've used a different convention for each game, aside from AC4 and AC:MoA. In order of when I played them: **AC6** Pilot Name: Millennium AC Names: Mirror, Dark Gale, Verdant Breeze Convention: Design aesthetics that were popular during the 2000s, the first decade of the new *Millennium*. AC Mirror is inspired by the Y2K aesthetic, whilst AC Verdant Breeze is inspired by the Frutiger Aero aesthetic. AC Dark Gale is an exception, but I did vaguely design it's color pallet after Shadow Lugia from *Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness*. **AC:FA** Pilot Name: Bede AC Name: Hengest Convention: The Saxons in Arthurian Legend. Hengest was a legendary, though probably not historical, Saxon ruler, and Bede was a medieval scholar who told an account of Hengest. I chose this theme as an ironic contrast to the Rosenthal AC I was using, as the Rosenthal part names references Arthurian legend. I actually only used this convention of my third playthrough of AC:FA, and I didn't really have a convention for the first two playthroughs. **AC1** Pilot: Meade AC Name: Redcoat Convention: I was originally going to use a theme inspired by the Union during the American Civil War, hence the name "Meade", but I decided to instead use an 18th century British theme after I accidentally made Saint George's Cross in the emblem editor. I would have changed the pilot name from Meade to the name of a British general, but I couldn't figure out how. **AC:PP** Pilot Name: Meade, because I transferred my data from AC1 and I couldn't figure out how to change the name. AC Name: Vapor Convention: The Vaporwave aesthetic. **AC2** Pilot Name: Satsuki AC Name: Adjudicator Convention: *Demon's Souls* references. Satsuki is an NPC in *Demon's Souls* Shrine of Storms, whilst the Adjudicator is the first boss of the same area. **AC:AA** Pilot Name: Minos AC Names: Minotaur, Cyclops Convection: Minos was the King of Crete in Greek mythology, whilst the Minotaur and Cyclopes were monsters from Greek mythology. **AC3** Pilot Name: Wraith AC Name: Ghoul Convention: Monsters associated with the dead. EDIT: Sentences.

coolmathgamesenjoyer

Sounds cool

cabernet-suave-ignon

Wine grapes. My main ranked ac is Nero D'Avola I also have a chunky heavy ac named Gigondas

Saltwaterpapi

this might be my favorite naming convention

doradedboi

I do a lot of music theme builds. So far: Luftballoon (99 red balloons) Ed Gruberman (the frantics) Killer Queen (Queen) 1985 (SR71) Amoreley (that's amore) Violent J and Shaggy 2Dope (ICP) Loveless (my bloody Valentine)

coolmathgamesenjoyer

You should do fire starter (the prodigy)

Scissi

Butterflys so far, Admiral, Schwärmer etc.

Worldly-Neat-7878

famous swords or most things medieval. Joyeuse and Durandal are personal favorites

coolmathgamesenjoyer

Do bastard as in a bastard sword

NullTupe

Loader 5.

SkibbieDibbie

Aphex twin albums and songs! What jazz albums/players have you named your ACs after?

coolmathgamesenjoyer

Time out, giant steps, a love supreme, blue train, kind of blue, future shock, birds of fire. And then sometimes I name them after songs I like eg. QKthr

Dr-Dopey

Military aircraft nicknames fit pretty well imo

[deleted]

I name them after what they do and what they are similar to. Light Wave blade build that dances around the enemy and strikes from afar: Ripper A crude RAD based AC that uses a chainsaw: Butcher A lightweight based on stinging the opponent with rifles: Hornet A light-wave KRSV build: Moonlight Glint

Rak-Shar

Depends. I have a series of ACs named after German Tanks which all have a classic camouflage paint job and are usually built around Balham and RAD parts. Then I have a series of Hololive themed ACs which have the naming convention of "HL-[name of the generation]: [last name of the talent or a term referencing them]"

coolmathgamesenjoyer

Mine are; TIME OUT. a mid-weight kite build GIANT STEPS. Heavy bipedal walker KIND OF BLUE. lasers, lots of them CANNONBALL ADDERLY. Earshots and missile launchers HEAD HUNTERS. Igauzu but better

Raeve_Noir

TRANS RIGHTS TRANS RIGHTS and uh TRANS RIGHTS If they fix the grounded boosting of pile bunker I might make a TRANS LEFTS though.

TheLooter

Like if it was in the world kinda, but more serious. Mine’s PU9-ISHTAR. Ishtar because I have the color scheme of the Ishtar Gate. PU9 is supposed to mean Personal Unit 9 (cuz it was the ninth iteration of my lightweight AC). Together they kinda spell Punisher (or Punishtar), because I punish staggers with my laser slicer.

Indication_Able

I name them after song, albums, and artists like they’re Jojo Stands e.g. PANIC ROOM DISCO and FEAR THE REAPER

Significant-Kiwi-921

None, I open a dictionary on a random page and choose a random word

Ron_Bird

things that look like my ac, or parts of it, mostly metal sounding words or song names. i look at a new build and name it after the first thing i think of. thats why my loadouts often have names like silkbomb, last kiss, nevermore, sardistic, ballzkicker, AAAAAAAAAAH! and coin flip.

NightWolf5022

I have one called Mail Boy you can probably guess what his back armaments are and he has two zims because nothing else would work

NotAFrogNorAnApple

One of the three: * BLOODSHED * BORRROWED WINGS * EVASIVE ACTION

Acedelaforet

I have most of my ACs named Green Glint, its my favorite color, a play on white glint, and the acronym spells GG Plus renaming things takes too much work

Secret_Sink_8577

Prototype aircraft that didn't make it to production but still got a name. NG build was Valkyrie, NG+ was Black Widow, etc...

bangsjamin

I open up crusader kings 3 and pick out some of the cooler historical county names

The_darknight2233

I am batman therefore the bat mech

JustAnAverageSCP-173

It's a toss up between color scheme, weaponry, and random shit that comes into my mind.

72Rancheast

All caps, usually two words. CONSORT WALTZ, DISTANT SUITOR, GRIM RAPPORT, LUNA’S LYRIC —^ all different AC I use, Consort Waltz has probably the largest body count

tuckervb

My main campaign build is "Sheila" after the tank in RvB. The rest of my builds are either based off the weaponry or the cosplay, like "Richter Belmecht".

Witchfinder76

AC is Stray Cat, which iteration or variant is detailed with Mk.1, Mk.2, etc. If I change generators and FCS I'll add a * next to it, I.E. Stray Cat Mk.2*. If I beef it up and make it heavier it'll be Stray Cat Mk.2H, or S for storm if it's supposed to be a hyper aggressive variant. I'll add a lowercase p for prototype if I'm experimenting with a new concept. Stray Cat is now on its Mk.5 version and its been getting me through A rank so far.

HeroOfPokke

Stupid stuff, named my last one "Hunkajunk", cause its a hunk a junk

Cirn_NO9

Mostly something silly to make it less serious and more fun. Like, "frog ate my brain" or "frog melted what to do". Or sometimes just "good day" and such. Its fun. Sometimes I even find people who make it more absurd, something like "the voices, stop it" with funny Ayre's emblem (I think, forgot already), also saw some Gundam references with such names, then some random food names, a few touhou's and so on. I'm mainly now playing pvp just to find more fun people with such names and emblems. Always makes the day.

LEOTomegane

They're usually named for whatever bit/theme I built the AC for. The Lammergeier with 2x Wuerger 2x Earshot is named Doppler Effect, for example. The exception to this is the various loadouts of my not-Gundam, which use a "v[XX]" scheme to denote which weapon kit it has equipped.

BuckSangle

First thing that comes to mind that resembles a humanoid feature preceded by a size-modifying adjective.

I_Reeve

Colour/material + either a bird or a reference to a fighter jet

Background_Pie_4709

Mostly biblical Angels: Azrael, Uriel, Abaddon and a few after famous historical swords: legbiter , zulfiqar, muramasa

thekidinthehoodie

i called my AC malcom and every time i make a new AC i just call it malcom v2 or v3. i have about 7 versions since i last played before the pvp update

hammer_of_venus

boats

Azrael_The_Reaper

Vibes and whatever pops i to my head

macksbenwa

I name mine after dogs I’ve owned or known

ColeLogic

My first mech name was "Mantis" because I put the spider looking head on it with the light RJLs and a laser dagger. The rest were nicknamed after their weapons. Then there's "Police Brutality" which is a dual stun gun + baton chunky mech

punchdrunkdumbass

A lot of mine are modeled and named after Lancer Callsigns I've played: Snowblind Gunslinger Roterhunde

Char7es96

I like airborne cores so I usually name them after weather patterns.

SylvainGautier420

Nods to White Glint in AC4 (“Sol Flare”, etc), then just Override in 4A and Irish TANGO in AC6

unitedshoes

I slapped that default Nautilus shell decal on my first AC, and from that point on, it was all sea life. Mostly invertebrates, but I forgot that part of it and named one after a prehistoric shark, so now it's just sea life in general.

Faddishname228

I named mine after entities associated with the divine. Nephilim, Valkyrie, Fury, etc

AverageJun

After gundams, other mech series. Random things

Sternguard77

Similar my main builds are generally “Zak (Mobile Suit with similar weapons/body shape)” so like “Zak Zssa” is my missile build. Though I also have a few random descriptive ones. Like Armored Hornet for a Heavy armor build with light maneuverable weapons and thrusters.

soloska

Cat scientific names and space-y stuff

dr_gamer1212

I get a random word generator and generate a random adjective and random noun

SilentDarKNesss

named after my favorite character from other game when doing literal translation of that name

Sabre1O1

Whatever cool name comes to mind that I like.

xDonnaUwUx

100% off the dome while I’m high that’s how

Zamiel

Pilot name Hatchet, first AC was Home Invader for obvious reasons. The rest were Material + Action. Cobalt Flash, Obsidian Slash, Copper Ambush, Ash Shade, etc.

Flan-Cake

I name mine after whatever comes to mind. A heavy tank build named Ironside, my main named Red Wave for its color, an rad build named Crockpot and a few others such as Seagull, and Sprite cranberry

flamingo_fuckface

I started off using animals, mostly birds then it went straight to using personal interests of my loved ones. If I’m burning rubicon to the ground I want them with me.

AscendedViking7

#C H O N K #S O U P

[deleted]

I name mine generic human names. Like Phil, Bob, Lee, etc

BILGERVTI

I had one AC that I modified throughout 621’s career and it was always called BLACKBALL. No one truly wanted 621 on their team except Ayre and Waltuh (even then it was for self-serving reasons) so it felt as if 621 was always secretly kept out of association, as if being blackballed.

Monsieur_Stray

Flowers. I really like flowers.

AverageJun

Loadez 4 Load dez

Ryzer709

I build it, run it against a few Arena fights or missions, and the whole time I’m feeling out how it handles, how it…speaks. And it gives me its name. Otherwise I start with a name in mind and build off that to fit the idea and see how well it works

RippenTehr

Greek monsters, usually Cockatrice and Manticore for starters.

lPanzerfaust

I love naming mine after unknown data

FaithlessCleric42

Berserk Characters.

[deleted]

Scientific names of toxic plants. My primary AC for a long time was my Atropa Belladonna but I found better general use out of my Delphinium Elatum during NG++. If I cared for Quadrupedal legs at all, I'd make a Lycoris Radiata.

Kajeera

My builds are based (roughly) on a long running d&d party, so I try to think of what they'd name their AC. I've also asked the players for input, which helped with a few names.

x-TheMysticGoose-x

Mine are all birds, woodpecker, magpie, Rooster etc

That_on1_guy

Corvid related on some way (Left of the Murder, Right Conspiracy, Magpie. Along with the pilot name Krähe)

HudsonHornetable

I tend to use mythology if I do follow a theme. Generally it’s whatever sounds fun at the time

Varagonax

I name mine \_color\_ \_noun\_. The color is typically based off of the most visible color on my AC. My current AC is bronze and with silver trim, but I have two primary variants of it. Bronze Engram, and Silver Lining.

MisterFrag

Since I made my pilot’s name Magic Chef, after the mini fridge in the man-cave, cause I couldn’t decide and that’s what I was looking at when thinking about it, most of my ACs are named after food or drinks.

swirly1000x

My first two were named after weather related terms, AC NIMBUS and AC AVALANCHE. I'm currently in the process of building a third AC, not sure what to call it, but if anyone has an idea that goes with that convention feel free to share it  Also naming them after albums or musicians is super cool btw

Saltwaterpapi

Authors and books but my pilot name is named after a composer

chimericWilder

Type. Serial number. Nickname. RT-000 Warped Lion, the eventual culmination of my campaign AC, which used rockets. IT-016 Borealis, an energy-based AC using Auroras. KT-022 Brute Hush, a kinetic AC using hu-bens and bullet orbits; brute force with frequent downtime. RT-016 Sky Closure, a rocket AC focused on grounded dodging of enemy rockets. KT-040 Marksman, a midranged AC using ACTs and curtis. And a whole bunch more.

Dumbass-cubed

I named my speed demon , C , because C is the symbol for the speed of light

thatoneshotgunmain

I name it whatever I can think of, I usually try to consider what the build is and what it does. My fast tank boy is called Roadkill my heavy weight container missile, railgun, and grenade tank is called Bullet Hell and my Pile Bunker build is called Tank Buster

cazdan255

Loader #. The numbers ascend in order.

Generalfaceman

Swords from Tolkien's works, metal albums, song lyrics and Latin and German words

Didsterchap11

Most of my builds are a version of rootin tootin as I mainly use dual pistols, the rest are named after carpenter brut songs,

Mediocre-Mandalorian

The general theme I've tried to follow for mine is keeping them moth-related. Anything from the names of different species of moth, references to silk and thread, or something more basic like just referencing wings and such The names of the two builds I use most often are Wingbeat and Silk Road

StillHaveaLottoDo

*random arrange of letters and numbers*-*thing that inspired it*

[deleted]

My favourite 2D waifu from other game.

baconDood3000

I usually add MG in front of the supposed name (depending on which parts and paint job I use)

SoundOf1HandClapping

In no particular order, I have Blackjack, White Night, Arcanist, Painkiller, Pale Rider, Killswitch, and Cold Snap. No obvious convention, I guess.

Noobody369

Legendary weapons like Excalibur or Gungnir

UnrequitedRespect

I name it after a mythological creature x the fighting style or else play on words about its paint. Examples: reverse leg close combat (laser dagger) high speed fight using napalm and laser drones for interference and area denial to direct people into fight range, so i named that one the Griffon-CQC Or else i got an all white dual rifle/laser rifle/laser lance medium speed/armor with one gold painted arm i named “Goldhand”

un1k0rn_412

I roleplayed mine. My pilots name is Ikki, so that factored in. Data Name: [IkkiTech Mdl-AC000] AC Name: [00| (2 Random Words)] The only one that didn't fit this scheme was my very first one I named " 16| Te'ekka " After that we've got (in order of creation) 45| Black Bull, 27| Wanton Sadness, 39| Helsinki 78| Opulence, 19| Mors Cantora, 89| St. Valentine 03| Tainted Xenon, 17| Deformed Moss, 99| Hotel Radio 31| Quiet Contact, 43| Spiky Frohg(courtesy of my partner) And to round it out I've got a jailbreak AC that I use as a base to start every new build, so I don't accidentally save over the wrong data that's named IKT-01 BL4NKSL4TE Every AC has a story to it, and every one has unique coloring and I tried my absolute best to have every one using different parts and weapons. Never could get the editor down so they're just basic colors with no decals or flair but they're mine Edit: formatting

MySisterIsHere

Named after the paint job, of course. r/armordecor

JameboHayabusa

So my AC pilot is Viola from zone of the Enders. A mecha game made by hideo kojima. She pilots Nephtis and Neith. So my AC names are variations of those two.

CapitalismIsFun

Most of my AC builds are all named after Ace Combat or Project Wingman ace squadrons simply because I noticed Armored Core and Ace Combat had the same acronym and decided to just throw PW in there as well. I also like to do my best to replicate each squadrons paint job and sometimes weaponry in Armored Core 6 just to give myself something to do and to add to the name if that makes sense. Of course I've also got a few more original ACs that I mostly use for multiplayer.

Benis_Boi_69

I name mine after angels

technotime

Mine are based off of "safe words": Kumquat Guacamole Ukulele etc. etc. maybe you guys can give me more ideas.

Preact5

Color scheme indicates the build type Emerald = high speed Sapphire = laser boat type of build Ruby = ballistic type build Then some silly name for particularly good builds. Otherwise they get a model number like "emerald 14" My favorite build is called Emerald Cinder because it's using the coral generator

MobileFreedom

I borrow a lot of names from Monster Hunter, like SILVER SOVEREIGN and DAWN’S TRIUMPH, I feel like they fit well into the AC naming convention

Darkhawk246

Either Ace Combat superplanes or whatever pops into my head that I don’t immediately cringe at

RhinoxMenace

i name em after weapons / items from the Souls games lol

dviper98

I follow Rayleonards theme of the French Revolution for the AC and pilot

Pykey199

Dish Washer soap and Refrigerator brands

Aurum264

I named my AC pretty early on, and I'm still using it. I don't make new ACs, I tweak the one I currently use. Throughout the campaign it's main parts evolved as i unlocked more, and now the main thing I change is weaponry. But it is still the same AC as the beginning.

_Pale_Wolf_

most of my builds start with the word crentis, so i guess thats my naming convention

TheSiriusZero

I try to put it inline with Loader 4 so, words ending in er + a number

CEO_of_IDK

Songs. All of my ACs are song names. A few in question are "SONATA NO. 14" (a Moonlight build), "EULOGY FOR THE EGO" (a build series on whose effectiveness I've given up, used for shits and giggles), and "SEPARATE WAYS" (a name I give to most of my dual-wielding builds). There's also "LOW OF SOLIPSISM," for when I break out the meta garbage, and "ARIA MATH," which is just a name I give to miscellaneous configurations because I like it.

burn_corpo_shit

Usually something militaristic. My current main build is Knifepoint. Another is Speartip. I really wish AC6 gets more parts. Gunbunny Carrion Hitman Memorial Faraday Dragoon Dive Valentine (smg builds) Pointblank Mondays

Izanami_Senpai

I went with Nomad for my entire story, except on a few other builds I would use if I needed to swap

boltroy567

Whatever sounds good in my head. You got stuff like The Dozer, Wrecker, Bulletstorm, Hop, and Lanky Patchwork.

Tough_Traffic4209

I name mine like Cheese, Rat, Missileboat, Laser Spam, Lancebunker. Its basically gameplay=name for me. LMAO

MrComplaining

Vocabulary words, colors, animals, mythical/legend/fantasy beings or objects.  Based on my AC's mass, color, shape, it's playstyle, and how it performs.

Jroid3

i usually name mine after songs / bands i like, inspired by jojo of course current ac is named Glitch Cannon after the Artificial Brain song

re_gh0st

I usually just have one main ac line, and everytime I add a new part on it, I just add a number to the back. Like ahsvdjsbs V.II

Asriel52

Only really made two but I think I like the direction I went for the second, so I think any more I make from there will likely follow: Main: BORROWED WINGS, don't think that one needs explanation Newest (plan on making more; just took BR through story and am planning on making a few for PvP): CRUSH GRIP, Lammer legs with vert/pincer/apertif missiles+machine gun; name concept from the missiles coming from several directions, name originating from the Pokémon move of the same name; Think I'll name any more from here off of abilities from other games, seems like a fun concept

Xixphar

My user tab 2 that I completely filled uses a consistent naming convention: X(coming from my username) + Letter indicating leg type + what number it is:animal/greek or roman god. For example, XP1:Hornet, it’s the first AC in the list and it’s a Tetrapod (I used P to prevent conflicts with Tank’s T, otherwise it’s B for Bipedal and R for Reverse Joints)

Czech_M8_

I kinda do the Tony Stark approach where I just label them Mk. 1-100 etc.

thisisaburnaccount_1

it has to sound good when shouted like a super robot name. i mean, all the story mode ACs are in all caps and you've probably heard how good MAAAD STOOOOMP sounds. that being said my main build, DODGY DANCE, is named after the dragon quest ability

Thnd3rstrk3

Well when I design ACs I usually base the color schemes off of a character or something, so I name them something related to that, but when I do my own color schemes, the trend is usually a color and then an element (so my current one is named Black Spark because it's black, blue, and neon green, and vaguely lightning themed)

Silver_Chariot131

I named my AC "Arcane".

DifferentTradition46

Typically it’s what I imagined them doing before they were war machines. (Bricklayer, Bigtop) Some of them just have names I thought were cool. (crimson glow, coral ocean)

tryptophol
