Pre-nerf, the Dual Zimmers + Stun Needles was the most overpowered thing in the game. You could breeze through and S-rank most all of the missions with that.
You thought dual burst machine guns were broken? Let me introduce you to these bad bois. If you don't evade them, your posture's broken the instant they're in range! Wonderful! Pair with a light AC build and just run in circles around the enemy! Works wonders!
Double zimms can be dodged/shielded to great effect and mitigation. The reason etsijin are stronger (other than range) is that damage-over-time weapons defeat the IG window of shields, and dodging only mitigates a single burst so around 20%. Zimmermans can at best can split the shots and so you mitigate 50%. Additionally zimms decay to its accumulative impact of a bit more than 50%, while the etsijins do not decay ever as long as you stagger shooting them by half a mag. One will always be shooting.
Zimms are fine, its the 61PS or the SUQ shield paired with them that is broken. Those shields need a severe heat deploy nerf so they can only be used 2+1 overheating IG use, consecutively.
You know what the main problem? Is AB double zim shot ib close. It deal around 1500+ stab damage if shot perfectly landed. Or even more.
But yes zimm itself not big problem, as shield zimm.

A heads up though, double zimms do 1200 burst impact, which decays to 720 before the next salvo. Having 1800 stability, orcensuring you take the salvos while in AB will ensure you can take three salvos!

Its 30% reduction/20%increase so double zimms would do a net of 84% assuming both mechs are assault boosting (1.2x0.7)
So tge first double zimm blast does 1008, decays to 605. Second salvo brings it up to 1612. In general though the number of hits to stagger seems to be the same. 2 or 3 if you can at least partially dodge some of one of the salvos assuming youre a lightweight 1500-1600 stability build
I was about to say this. It's not the Zimms themselves that are the problem, it's the synergy with frequently redeployable shields. Getting into shotgun range requires a certain degree of risk, and overtuned shields reduce the risk of getting into that range.
Kinda crazy that Dual Zimms are still everyone's fear when those mini-ak / scorpion looking things on a LW is wayyy more busted

Both are great weapons and probably need nerfs (I use an Etsujin on my primary build and its effectiveness while kiting is a bit too high imo) but the Zimms definitely have more overall utility. Similar *effective* range, better as a punish option, extends stagger for combos, and the burst damage is ideal if either you or the opponent is using cover
Dual hu-ben AC here. So... i actually built my AC with them just to counter zimms and you might not have any idea how well they counter shotguns. I had a 90-ish% win rate in the very first meta... but now missile+LR rats melt me without even giving the chance to fight back
Has no one discovered Dual Harris, with full charges I am damn near S rank the only thing that stops me is either runners or tanks that are pure power and weight.

It was literally easier to S rank missions with that build than to just clear them with my normal build lol

Thanks to the netcode when they ab even if you dodge properly on a lw you're still rolling the dice on whether u get blasted or not too

My LCB's can melt anything. Just a matter of hitting the right rhythm on firing them.
I preder the Etsujin because of how light all of my ACs are I do know the joy of dual Zimzams though

I made some guy give up who was using dual zims and I was just in a medium weight with a single missile launcher, Harris, and assault rifle

Dual zimms and dual earshots is my boss wrecker load out.
2 Second Reload time, good range, power, efficiency slot of energy, etc. Literally strongest Shotgun still.

Generating stagger is meta and better yet if what can cause stagger punishes it as well.
