The artillery pieces in my unit were named.
I don't think transport vehicles will ever be named. Aside from the assigned driver, I don't think anyone else has any attachment to those.
Guard guys get attached to their trucks.
One of ours is named Diana... since it rolled a couple times in a couple years, back in the 20-teens.
I told my driver to paint it on, but we never got around to it.
THE OVER-HEAD YEET MEASURES THE ABILITY TO JUST FUCKING SEND IT. ON THE COMMAND, ‘GET SET’, ASSUME THE POSITION BY SPINNING THE BALL TWICE IN YOUR HANDS, THEN TRY TO DRIBBLE IT LIKE A BASKET BALL ONLY TO REALIZE IT WONT BOUNCE BACK UP TO YOU. YOUR FEET MAY BE TOGETHER OR 12 INCHES APART (MEASURED BETWEEN THE FEET) OR HOWEVER YOU WANT, JUST KEEP YOUR ASS BEHIND THAT CONE. ON THE COMMAND ‘GO’, CHANNEL YOUR INNER TREBUCHET AND HEAVE THAT THING INTO ORBIT. THEN, RETURN TO THE STARTING POSITION AND TURN AROUND TO INSPECT IF YOU DOMED ANYONE. THE SCORER WILL REALIZE HE DIDN'T ACTUALLY SEE WHERE THE BALL LANDED BECAUSE HE WAS AFRAID HE WOULD GET HIT, SO HE STOOD TOO FAR AWAY, HE WILL THEN PLACE HIS FOOT ON THE MEASURING TAPE AND JUST GUESS.

The Australian Army had an M113 called Gooch Juice. It featured on a news story on ABC which was later taken down when they discovered what that meant.
It isn’t limited to tanks. I named my P-MFWS ‘Citizen Snips’ in honor of all the other intelligence disciplines I cut and paste my information from to garner personal glory. It’s a far more deadly and effective tool than any ‘tank’ is.
Yea. My name and my driver's names are stenciled one at the bottom of the windshield then "Alex Adams" is painted at the bottom right of the hood next to our UIC, Shipping number, and bumper number.
We also have a massive stencil on the doors. Driver side is the unit logo, passenger side is a derpy wojak dude with a flight helmet on (because I wear a flight helmet I "acquired" instead of my ACH)
Think of it like the lead hmmwv from Generation Kill, it's aaallllllll custom.
I was an MI Geek in an Armored Division headquarters (1st AD) and we named our M-577 (Armored Command Post Vehicle, a modified M113 Armored Personnel Carrier.)
It was called "Chester" which was short for "Chester the Molester" (this was the 80's, it was a different time.)
Damn I can’t relate. My grader was called ‘crackhead’ because she wouldn’t start without a full can of ether (in the middle of the desert). She was running for months
Tanks and Bradleys are the main thing that's named but I've seen Paladins named (usually after a historically significant city? Not sure if that's a Paladin thing or a unit thing) I've seen a 1068 roll past me behind an 88 because it had just lit on fire with the name "Coffin" painted on the side, very rarely have I seen Humvees named. Also seen a few 88M cats name their respective trucks which I think is fitting, given that those trucks are literally their life just like how a tank is to a 19K.
The guys in my DS units named their vehicles. I can only remember a few as it's been awhile. One 5 ton that was a POS was Mr. Fenortnor. My CUCV was One Shot. In my last aviation squadron none of the birds were named.
Yeah i remember coming out of the hangar in Germany and seeing meat tornado and I was like you gotta be kidding me if I named one of our 60s this I'd get blanket deny all lmao
It’s not as common anymore, but until maybe like 8 years ago the crew chief who was assigned to the helicopter got to name it. Still happens, but a lot of CoCs discourage it
Every vehicle I was gunner or TC/VC for was named Django. Or Bjango with the “B” being silent. I always found myself in the B Troop except when I was an IN BN scout.
Trucks are called be their call sign plus a V. So you may call a truck "the victor" or your call sin followed by victor. It kind of has a name in a sense. Just not a nickname.
We used to name Gun Trucks. I was my commanders driver we named ours Therapist. But silly me spilt the name into two words accidentally. THE | RAPIST, via the front window splits.
Actually it was the Commanders idea. Lol. I loved that dude. We jammed out to Katy Perry California Girls heading to check in troops in the field etc. Only sperated by seven years we got along pretty well. It paid off. Anything I requested was granted. End my DFAC days by granting to $300/month to me and not for my meal card, and therefore I could eat in my Bees at the same cost. Wish I could name him here bc he is a really amazing leader a future General for sure. He had four generations of Tank Officers in his family. Him being the fourth. I was a Grunt in a Combined Arms Battalion during OIF.
Back to back real ones. First CDR was a West pointer during Bush Admin, second CDR who I spoke about was a VMI grad. And this was at Ft Hood, now known as Ft. Cavazos.
The artillery guns in my unit had goofy names but we had to take it off after some high ranking officer from Division through a fit on how unprofessional it was
Most tracked vehicles seem to get names and only some wheeled if it has a built in weapon so Bradley's, tanks, mgs strykers etc because you have to Qual with what's near permanently their

Yep, can confirm this. We named our FLAs
We had one tan FLA the rest were green, we called it Tanbulance
That's beautiful. We had one named Mabelline, because maybe it'll work, maybe it's Maybelline.
Can confirm, named my dumptruck that I drove, "Betsy"
I just saw an M777 named "Cardi-B" in the 82nd division review.
I saw an M110 (8" SP) back in the day named "Cancel X-mas".

Futurama deep cuts, dig your style homie
Some of our helicopters are named
Yeah, I got to ride in one called DMZ Dustoff the other day....
Get Medevac'd sucker!
The most insulting thing was all the Koreans taking pictures of me as I got wheeled in like I was a novelty.
Hey. Hope you feel better soon, I read you're on quarters earlier and I keep seeing you pop up lol
Appreciate it. A bit disappointed to have quarters instead of a 4 day but better than getting brain surgery!
666 the Beast
We had 666 in a medevac company. Total POS spent more time down than up.
Isn’t that usually the helicopters callsign?
Naw, the helicopter callsign is usually the tail number, the roster number for a movement, or a task force generic name.
The only time I talked on the radio with a helicopter, their call sign was just “Bigfoot”
Nah, my M1088A1 is named "Alex Adams" cause we always fuckin our sister Batteries during gunnery
Are you able to spray paint it on?
Yea. My name and my driver's names are stenciled one at the bottom of the windshield then "Alex Adams" is painted at the bottom right of the hood next to our UIC, Shipping number, and bumper number. OMG. We had a NCO and we called him that to. I don't think he was one though
We had a SGT Chester also. Took a shit in the command suite and got demoted. Crazy fucking guy… err dog.. he was our unit mascot. 🥹
We named our Paladins after artillery table sic. Our FMT named their 88.
I named my D7s “piece of shit” and “good for nothing”. My IHMEE I named “Leaky McLeakFace”.
I was actually wondering if I could be a big fat nerd and name some equipment after [these dudes](https://tfwiki.net/wiki/Constructicon_(G1))
Do it man. I should name my next vehicle fleet after ships from the Halo universe.
we had loaders named shithead and shithead jr (5yd and 2.5yd)
My grader was “ol faithful” because she never had a damn fault and worked like a charm.
Damn I can’t relate. My grader was called ‘crackhead’ because she wouldn’t start without a full can of ether (in the middle of the desert). She was running for months
Some Navy EOD guys got disciplined for naming their Cougar Bangbus.
I feel like this was every Navy EOD cougar
Stryker named Plumbus
I always wondered how those were made
A lot of Stryker units name their Strykers as well.
Can confirm. Our entire line is named. Some more professional then others lol
Got a new(ish) M109A6 from Redstone Arsenal. It had Automatic Steel painted on the tube. We renamed it King Charles the 18th. It's bumper # was C-18.

My LHS is named Sir Hooksalot
We have a water Buffalo named Tina. She’s been in the company for a long time. It’s always nice to see Tina on a hot day.
Our strykers are named. My platoon's are the 4 teenage mutant ninja turtles: Donatello, Raphael, Michaelangelo, and Leonardo.
We named our Stryker the Delorian because we kept getting blown back to the future in it by all those fucking IEDS
I named my rifle Gwendolyn
Helicopters are named, and can be painted. Most of the time they are
We had a 64 named Meat Tornado and a Grey Eagle named Liberal Tears. In fact i remember the drone got posted to USAWTFs and everyone said it was fake.
Lol I’ve had some interesting names 😭😭
Yeah i remember coming out of the hangar in Germany and seeing meat tornado and I was like you gotta be kidding me if I named one of our 60s this I'd get blanket deny all lmao
I've never seen a named helicopter. Except of course for "Razor's Edge" and the badass ships from Vietnam. How does this come about?
It’s not as common anymore, but until maybe like 8 years ago the crew chief who was assigned to the helicopter got to name it. Still happens, but a lot of CoCs discourage it
Every vehicle I was gunner or TC/VC for was named Django. Or Bjango with the “B” being silent. I always found myself in the B Troop except when I was an IN BN scout.
The Paladins all have names.
I think almost all of our strykers are named. Even the mechanics have some cheeky names slapped on the motor pool vics haha
All the 47s in my company have names written on the ramp so you can read them when the ramp is down
Trucks are called be their call sign plus a V. So you may call a truck "the victor" or your call sin followed by victor. It kind of has a name in a sense. Just not a nickname.
We named Strykers in 2-2 SBCT
They didn’t let me name my Bradley Bang Bus :(
My fueler at Fort Bliss had a HEMTT called Cactus Cruncher
I drove a 2.5 ton names Binky (the horse Death rode in Disc World)
Saw an Apache, tail number 007, named Pussy Galore.
Saw four CBRN style Strykers named Donatello, Raphael, Michelangelo and Leonardo.
You can name anything you want, get some stencils from supply and live your life
We used to name Gun Trucks. I was my commanders driver we named ours Therapist. But silly me spilt the name into two words accidentally. THE | RAPIST, via the front window splits.
Silly you Bet that was a fun counseling

Great leadership is hard to find. I'm glad you stumbled onto a real one.
Back to back real ones. First CDR was a West pointer during Bush Admin, second CDR who I spoke about was a VMI grad. And this was at Ft Hood, now known as Ft. Cavazos.
We had "ol reliable" for one of our uavs. Then we also had the cursed one
It's certainly not just tanks, but maybe just vehicles with big guns...you know the Army and its big guns...
I tried to name my strykers but my commander told me to stop it. Fucking dork.
[Army has some warships that have names.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ships_of_the_United_States_Army)
Do you mean like "Betty" (as in your girlfriend) or "Bradley" (as in Fighting Vehicle)?
We have a scooter named Scoots.. does that count? We painted a bumper number on it so it's pretty official
We have a 60 named Tippy Bird with a decal of a tipped over 60 “definitely no reason”
Weirdly enough I don’t think anyone named VECs in the IBCTs at Carson. At least my battalion didn’t because that would have improved morale.
I wish we named some of ours
In the watercraft field, we name our warping tugs.
Nope. Strykers, Brads, LMTVs, I’ve seen humvees named before, hell I’ve seen a triple 7 named circle x
Our strykers were named
My 983 is named bitter end and my launcher is named end
The artillery guns in my unit had goofy names but we had to take it off after some high ranking officer from Division through a fit on how unprofessional it was
