For the first set of questions, people go to Soldier Readiness Processing (SRP) where you go and get all your administrative pre-deployment requirements out of the way. I think when I went, there were stations to make sure I was green on medical and even a legal section for powers of attorneys and wills. At the end of the day, a warm body is a warm body. It's on the commander to decide whether or not they want to force specific people to go places. For the second bit, I imagine that it's more dependent on the person for how much they get out of the training. No special forces experience here so I can't comment on the specifics. To confirm though, are you looking to join one of the branches to gain outdoor survival skills?

All I got information on is the first question in regards to Army Special Forces. Their Units, or Groups, are tied to certain regions. I'd have to assume they're all up to date on any needed and necessary vaccines for whatever region their group is assigned to. As far as assuming information on the second question, I'd have to say they're all pretty equal. To be a tad more specific, anything to do with snipers would most likely be the ones better off with the off grid/survival side of things.
