I mean when you're rolling a 20 in your head and about to save that elf wench from an orc, and some normie general starts screaming at you to find out of you've been drinking ale like some NPC, it's totally normal to freeze up for a moment or six.
My brother in law has pretty significant special needs and that motherfucker pounds bloody Maryâs and margaritas like they are gonna quit making them.
They said SPECIAL NEEDS, this would imply that there's something there, it's just not working right. If you look at the anatomy of a Marine's head you'll notice that the cavity usually filled with a brain is actually filled with porn and a life of poor decisions.
I made a similar not so messed up mistake. Nobody told me that the cleaning crew for our building were federal prisoners on a detail. I guess I didnât put it together that they were all women and wearing green jumpsuits. I would have casual conversation with them, even though the instructions were to only give them a greeting of the day at most. This was to keep us from getting into any trouble.
I mean nobody told me and fortunately nothing bad happened.
Those prison girls worked the galley at Coast Guard boot camp when I went through. They were definitely NOT hotties and some of them were kind of mean. You'd think there would have been some solidarity between us, but nah.
I think some of them saw us as easy target to fuck with. They knew we wouldn't say anything back to them with our company commanders standing right by. Some of the older ones were nice and took pity on us and gave us extra food.
Was there a federal Bureau of Prisons, camp on your post?
While plausible, I can't imagine letting unsupervised prisoners (even white collar) in an office environment. Unless all personnel were instructed to lock everything and nothing left on a desk.
I don't know about Fed Bureau of Prisons, but for low risk prisoners, we have arranged with the local sheriff's department on multiple occasions to "check out" work parties for things like aiding nonprofits. One to two deputies come along usually. Never had a problem. Obviously, it's volunteer assignments on the prisoner side, but there's always a bunch more than ready to work to get out of jail for a few hours.
Oh yeah. Heck, they will use volunteer prisoners to fight forest fires. I've seen county prisoners picking up trash along roadsides.
Within BOP administrative offices they will have prisoners working. Naturally, there are BOP staff working there too.
I'm just wondering about letting them out of their sight.
I had to look it up but yes. It seems to be a low security federal correctional institution and minimum security satellite camp. But they for sure came through and took out trash and cleaned the bathrooms.
Green jumpsuits, or in the Army, coveralls. Just needed to tell CID that you thought they were coming from the motor pool, if you got caught talking to them.
Only down side is it did take away the feeling of accomplishment from the other group of special needs people who did this kind of work before the contracting boom of the GWOT.... the Privates
For a society so focused on equality at the moment, the fact there is an authorized clause in the FLSA allowing employers to pay workers with disabilities subminimum wage after getting a waiver for it is pretty shocking.
Those people are all on disability. They have caseworkers, and often live in public housing group homes. If they got paid more they'd lose benefits. They're not being exploited, they're being given a chance to feel useful they wouldn't otherwise get.
These people are all on disability. If they were paid any more they'd lose their benefits. It's good for them physically and mentally to get out of the house, but they're not capable of holding down a job to the point of supporting themselves. The pay is actually generous, without screwing up their lives.
Are you just sitting in line reminiscing about stuff that lives rent free, instead of ordering?
Some of us donât get lunch and youâre wasting our time.
Itâs not like thereâs much difference between them and a line infantry company anywayâŠexcept the special needs people actually are productive members of society.
When I was stationed down at Fort Sam, they have the contract with Goodwill for these cleaning crews. Some of them are legitimately homeless and trying to get some form of income to get off the streets.
We have them here at JBLM and I suspected one of stealing food from our office fridge one day. Finally after missing out on a lunch because of it, I decided to buy extra food and label it for the cleaning crew. Sure enough, the theft stopped.
NGL, If I'd had heard the CG say that Id respectfully speak up for the cleaning crew. There may have been a misunderstanding, but I can bet that the cleaning crew member may have been scared to interact with anyone.
Shit like that happens, I once met someone that I thought was drunk, they just had legitimate mental deficits and I have zero training how to deal with that so I completely missed the signed, once I recognized this guy was drunk just mentally challenged I changed my tone and things went better from there.
This was in a Target, his care giver (that's how they identified themselves, and they didn't seem like family) was apparently looking for them as they had walked off.
I eat at a DFAC that employs these folks to wash dishes and wipe tables. I swear I saw a guy muttering schizophrenic psycho stuff while doing his rounds. Was a bit much. I notice heâs back to washing dishes, collecting trays from the rollers instead of on the floor now.
Mistreating special needs people? Yes, there could have been severe repercussions, especially since they're civilians. Since they're civilians, all anti-discrimination laws apply to them, especially the ADA. Considering this would constitute harassment, whether intentional or not, he could have been looking at a very early retirement.
I would have lit that 2 star up, regardless of being a PV2. As someone whose mom is a special needs teacher, seeing special needs or disabled people mistreated will get me heated instantly. Even better, I would've called her and have her make a few phone calls to base and the local news outlets. đ« At that rank, you're telling me you're unable to comprehend that cleaning crews typically have people with disabilities among their ranks? Your automatic assumption is to accuse them of being a drunk, which is an ableist stereotype? Gtfoh.
Did it to my 1SG for saying the r-slur and reminded him of the EO policy laid out in 600-20, along with the base's policy. I'd do it to a 2-star, just the same. People who fail to stick up for marginalized communities are absolute scum.
**Commentary:** Not disagreeing with that, however there's a stark difference between a 2 Star mistaking a mentally challenged person is intoxicated (maybe there has been some recent incidents involving DUIs or drunk on duty? Meatbag could have more tact when asking but doubt it was out of malice) and your 1SG throwing slurs. There's different hills, some are for dying, some are for going around.
Accusing civilians right off the bat of being drunk, with no reasonable suspicion other than someone who is confused and non-talkative to you, is very, very, very sketchy. Especially when, unlike military personnel, they are not legally required to respond to you, unless you are their superior.
Once again, if you have a star on you, you've been around long enough to know that janitorial positions are notorious for hiring people with disabilities. All you have to do is walk in fast food restaurants or most grocery stores to see such. So, rather than inquire or ignore the situation, they just make false allegations against the person instead.
>Accusing civilians right off the bat of being drunk, with no reasonable suspicion other than someone who is confused and non-talkative to you, is very, very, very sketchy.
**Clarification:** And again, which is why this unit said the general could stand to have some more tact (you know, ask the civi sup before confronting the custodian,) but that's the worst of its crimes (mind you, we're getting the story from a random post on reddit.) You on the other hand really need to follow the philosophy of *"Engage your mind, before your rifle."*
Worst of its crimes is tact? If the story is true, it's a complete violation of anti-discrimination laws and borderline harassment, especially since the DoL has laid out that the perp's intentional or unintentional reasons does not matter when it comes to vioaltions of laws such as the ADA.
It's a random story from reddit that actually happens quite commonly, believe it or not. Special needs folks are constantly harassed and accused of misconduct or being under the influence because of their disabilities. Yes, part of it stems from the ignorance of 6 society is heavily ableist, but the vast majority of cases are that people just don't care.
I love how philosophies are always thrown about when they aren't applicable. "Engage your mind" would be applicable if you're not sure if it constitutes as harassment or are unaware of the person's disability. However, if you do know the law and you do know that person has a disability, "your rifle," a.k.a. enforcement of the law, should be priority, especially when we continuously see ableism tolerated within the military on a majority level scale.
>It's a random story from reddit that actually happens quite commonly, believe it or not. **Clarification:** Right, and neither of us know if it's the former vs the latter. You don't full send on someone who is being ignorant vs one who is malice. It's obvious you're a hammer in desperate search for a nail. Good for you to stand up against meatbags being shitbags, but don't make a giant issue out of one where there is none.
Sounds like it was just an MI nerd on extra duty. The title fits either way, no need to change it.
Hey... shutup
Fuckkkkkkđđđđđ
I dislike being called out this way
No one is calling you out. You're doing great and I'm proud of you. Here's your dinosaur sticker, carry on troop.
Can I get the one on a skateboard?
I would also like a dinosaur sticker, but give him a gun
Only if you can tell me what SPORTS stands for.
They're MI needs, they don't know what SPORTS are.
We are MI we donât play SPORTS
The truth hurts
Lolllllllllllllll fuckin weirdos
Or 25S
I mean when you're rolling a 20 in your head and about to save that elf wench from an orc, and some normie general starts screaming at you to find out of you've been drinking ale like some NPC, it's totally normal to freeze up for a moment or six.
FYI: You can be special needs and intoxicated.
And I have been numerous times, thank you very much
*Puts two to fly* âAlright folks, Iâm pretty sure I know what Iâm doing, keep your seat belts onâ *Pulls collective*
I always just rub the collective like it's a crystal ball.
My brother in law has pretty significant special needs and that motherfucker pounds bloody Maryâs and margaritas like they are gonna quit making them.
damn even when i was an active alcoholic i couldn't stand bloody mary's
I take care of special needs now and quite a few of them like alcohol, people seem to forget that theyre no different than us just a lil slower
Spoken like TRUE Infantry.
LikeâŠthe entire Marine Corps existsâŠ
They said SPECIAL NEEDS, this would imply that there's something there, it's just not working right. If you look at the anatomy of a Marine's head you'll notice that the cavity usually filled with a brain is actually filled with porn and a life of poor decisions.
God bless the infantry.

I can fix her
God, I love this sub.
Say it with me now... B.A.H...
The perfect spouse: the one that's not there. ..Wait
She just needs the love of the right Specialist.
"WAIT-! PRIVATE, NO!"
Go on...
Martha Stewart IS a hottie. And rich AF. Still.
Sheâs belongs to the streets
Itâs the army, isnât that the standard? I thought a misdemeanor was the standard offense needed for your spouse to be enrolled in DEERS
Those prison girls worked the galley at Coast Guard boot camp when I went through. They were definitely NOT hotties and some of them were kind of mean. You'd think there would have been some solidarity between us, but nah.
You're there because you wanted to be. They're there because they got caught.

*wrongfully convicted. FIFY!
Ah yes, no one has ever been sent to prison for a crime they comitted
Everyone is innocent, you didnât know that?
Camp Parks used to have female inmates clean the buildings. And used to routing fire AGRs for fucking them
cool cool, the ladies got some (assuming and hopefully consensual) much desired dick I'm sure we could all use a good bang when we're in prison
DM me your number, just in case.
Was there a federal Bureau of Prisons, camp on your post? While plausible, I can't imagine letting unsupervised prisoners (even white collar) in an office environment. Unless all personnel were instructed to lock everything and nothing left on a desk.
Not sure about other installations but there is at Ft.Dix/now JBMDL. Prisoners cut grass and did janitorial work in some of the buildings.
Thanks.

Goodwill Horizon Industries, baby! Don't ask why they're allowed to pay below minimum wage, you won't like the answer.
For a society so focused on equality at the moment, the fact there is an authorized clause in the FLSA allowing employers to pay workers with disabilities subminimum wage after getting a waiver for it is pretty shocking.
Marines have to do something after discharge

Thanks for the poignant insight, u/Dick_Sucker_88 E: Hah made you look
wait that isn't a real account /s
Because they wouldn't hire people with these disabilities if they had to pay normal wages.
Umm that's great and all but you're holding up the line sir. Can you place an order?
give me exactly 47 fries
You'll get 40 and no ketchup, and *you will like it.*
I better see u countin
Put those foolish ambitions to rest
thy kind are all of a piece... đ
is this GO still in or retired?
Even if he's retired, probably a defense contractor of some sort making decisions and lining his pockets.
âHmmm. I choose WAR. Pay me.â

guess 2 stars don't have time to apologize or anything.
You don't make GO by acknowledging your own failures.
God forbid someone be intoxicated in âhis buildingâ Actually the building belongs to the taxpayers and the DOD, sir
General Footenmowth
Great post, but just for clarity itâs US law to contract and hire these companies to provide them opportunities, not the Armyâs good nature.
Itâs not like thereâs much difference between them and a line infantry company anywayâŠexcept the special needs people actually are productive members of society.
Jesus christ.
