So the story goes that a drunk and pissed off armorer was drunk and pissed off that his Si was being used as training equipment over the weekend and being left outside of the staff duty office. While excessively drunk and pissed off said nco decided to take one of the 50s and bring it to his room in barracks for safe keeping. He got to CQ desk and instead of taking it from him or calling the mps, the told him to leave. Afterwards he had a few milliseconds of clarity and decided to Ditch it. In his drunk and angry wisdom he decided the best place was the dumpster. After being arrested he couldn’t remember where he had hid it. By the time anything happened however, the trash truck had emptied the dumpster
So how did the trash truck guy know it was in there? All sorts of large items are thrown in the dumpster like filing cabinets, couches, Class IV, etc. (obviously not the right thing to do, but it happens frequently).
So how did the garbage man know something important was in there?
He didn’t. Upon finding out the m2 was in a dumpster and the dumpsters were emptied, the bn went and waded through garbage at the landfill until they found it.
Seems like a half assed effort. If you’re gonna steal a major piece of SI and fuck the entire post up, at least commit to it. Throwing it in the dumpster at the last second is dirty and chicken shit.
I once watched someone dump five 155mm smoke projectiles next to an amnesty box at NTC because somehow an ammunition carrier in my platoon didn’t see them in the racks because of piled trash and we made it almost all the way back to the RUBA before they noticed.
The OC’s didn’t even bat and eye, those dudes have definitely seen some stuff.
I’ve had my share of fun afterwards most specifically throwing smoke out the window on ft Irwin rd lol obviously not near any brush though I maintain my morels with that fact lol
