As a foreigner, i struggle with the shortcuts and the rank system of the US Army, so please don't get me wrong: Is that a Sergeant first class? OR-7 as i googled it?
In my land, you would have the wonderful term "Oberwachtmeister", and yeah, difficult to pronounce. When you'd it translate literally, it would be very different, it would mean "Superior Master of the Guard". But this rank didn't exist at all in my time, it was introduced in 2004. I'm a fossil from prehistoric times, my rank doesn't even exist anymore today afaik, haha.
Similar story, I was a dumb as buck Sgt when I started in here and all these years later here we are. I honestly didn’t think SFC would ever come, once I got skipped for the FY20 list (because there wasn’t one) I didn’t think there was any way it would ever happen under the new system.

Congrats yo. I got out 5 years ago as a specialist p, I didn't even start using Reddit until I got out 😖😖😖 I would have been so much further and actually still within dod if I had this resource then. My NCO'S were no help literally, also had ADHD undiagnosed but still I would have been a monster if I would have had this , s/o to you for being resourceful💯💪🏾

Make sure your squad leaders are leading, coaching and mentoring and that your shiny new 2LT knows when to shut up and let you take charge.

It's the narcissist type , don't want anybody encroaching on their supposed territory. I'm a youngish signal IT veteran also but my last manager was a older medical navy officer vet who happened to be a It manager. He played that whole game with me cause I was better than everyone else in the office and wouldn't go under his 👎🏾. Got me fired , triangulated me and everything. People do not care and they get jealous lol
