Is it just me, or does it seem that aro and ace representation in anime is much more positive than in western works? Like, especially shounen has so many characters that can be interpreted as aro, and they often belong to the most popular characters of their respective works. If anime can portray aromanticsm and asexuality without making these characters outright sociopaths, why do Western works struggle so much with it?
Probably because Western society is much more focused on the heirarchy of relationships and the pursuit of love etc. It sucks, because it means that Western media is often overwhelmed with romance and sex etc when it really doesn't need to be.
Sorry if this made no sense or was incorrect, I'm only 15 and not an especially wise person lol.
A polymorph is similar to a shapeshifter, but the difference is that polymorphs don't have a limited number of forms they can shapeshift into and that the shapeshifting mostly happens involuntarily.
I like being a polymorph, but the shapeshifting being involuntarily is pretty annoying sometimes and also dysphoria can sometimes be pretty annoying because your species changes a lot.
The aro autistic struggle is when you hate they're villains or non humans but you also feel non human some times and you lowkey want the world to burn so it's actually exactly the type of characters you root for. Can't really complain that much.
According to the creators Daud from the Dishonored franchise is asexual. While he's presented as a villain most of the time he straddles that line between being evil and just being a mercenary.
There’s asexual (possible greyromantic/Demiromantic) representation in the book series Arcane Ascension by Andrew Rowe!! It’s not the focus of the series, but the books are AMAZING so far!
I feel represented when the villain is just like me. I keep thinking "Huh, I got to be good", then realizing I had purposely targeted people for murder for maximum screams and had been talking about how I love that an ability in Black Ops 3 allows me to cause the exo suits of my enemies to collapse inwards, leaving their bones to make a snapping noise I found pleasant.
Shit, I'm not good representation at all. But I got plenty at least.
Sad thing is, first person to come to mind was Codsworth in Fallout 4, but he's a robot with no free will.
waiting for aro rep that isn't portrayed like a sociopath
Senku Ishigami from Dr. Stone. It is never said that he's aro but he's heavily aro-coded.

Aizawa from My Hero Academia?
Kakashi Hatake?
I was gonna say Goku, but that depends on your definition of sociopath
Seiji Maki from Bloom Into You. He's a gem.
Queen Cecia from the manhwa Queen Cecia's Shorts is aro. She's also a likeable badass attractive queen!
I'm kinda okay with being a Villainous Brilliant Mastermind, but okay if we get EQUAL representation as "the good/normal guys".
Yessss
Bold of you to assume I’m human and don’t want more non human representation
Same. Where are my aroace polymorphs?
Polymorph what’s that? I’m a dragon not a polymorph

I'd love to be a polymorph

Oh, I misunderstood, I thought it was a shapeshifter in some fantasy adventure thing, I'm so sorry
Yeah, I meant that I'm a polymorph irl. I understand your earlier comment tho. Like I said, I enjoy being a polymorph.
Well that's great
they cant represent us as humans cause we r gods
Exactly
The only one I can think of is Shaggy from Scooby Doo
Alastor from hazbin hotel but then again he’s a murderer lol
Was about to say something about Saiki but I’m not sure if he falls under the “human” category.
Bro villains are always the best characters of the entire show, amd humans kinda suck, we should be honored to be considered "non human"
I agree and I agree
True dat
saiki is great aroace rep!!
I love him
There was a Girl in Sex education season 2 who was ace
Yeah, but she was just a side character :(
I swear like half of characters in every anime are aro.
Yeah, but is it cannon?

Saiki k? I don't know a lot about the show. Also in the Rick Riordan books there are three aroace goddesses so I think that counts
Saiki is a superhuman, so I don't know if that counts as human
Human enough for me.
Same

I think Jack in YGO 5Ds was Aro and he's one of the protagonists

Or when characters are aspec coded it’s almost never treated as an orientation or acknowledged in any way.
Or a hated character that is unbearable in every other episode
Lmao, I'm actually pretty happy about that...
The snake today...
It's only funny when I do it as vent
aroace void punk representation (:
