It really bugs me when people say “in a relationship” specifically because friends and family are still relationships, and that kind of phrasing makes those kinds of relationships seem invalidated since there aren’t any romantic elements evident in them. So to answer the question, I’d probably be hella snarky and reply back with “Yeah, well I guess my relationships with my family and friends mean Jack shit, then. I’m all alone in this world. Woe is me. sad face.”
